Ben Taylor is a magician and has even appeared on Britain's Got Talent and toured with the likes of Paul Weller and The Libertines. He joins Dan to talk about his self-destructive relationship with alcohol and drugs and what lead him to become sober almost a year ago today. Ben and Dan also discuss the relationship between performing and addiction, the unique struggles of the early stages of going sober as well as the clarity and honesty that sobriety brings to your life.

This for me is why the podcast will continue to get better n better, its great to hear from professionals who can help. But hearing peoples journey through sobriety really hits home, how we are all very similar mindset with addiction living different lives. Keep doing this dan, ur gunna change alot of lives

Thank you for your ongoing good work and support through these pods. From my experience admitting you have a problem / unhealthy relationship with drugs motivates you to stop. Specifically admitting you have an addiction / are an addict helps you stay stopped - because you know relapsing will ALWAYS take you back to square one or worse still. That’s the difference in my mind.

Only 6 days sober but listening to these pods reminds me of all the shit about doing drugs when I have the urge and makes these early days a lot easier

@@themagicmodofficialpage747 you’re welcome, I got a lot of strength and relation from this episode, I’ve decided to not drink on the weekends for a while, this was my first weekend sober and I performed better at work and felt much better waking up, I was sick of functioning on zero serotonin, I’m not looking for complete sobriety just not making it the norm to drink every weekend and everything that comes with it

Dapper doesn’t seem to have a direct email I can send to so I’m hoping someone can help me out in the comments- I have problem with the sesh- always thought I didn’t until I started watching these vids but every month or so, I’ll end up losing my job because of it. I’m in debt up to my eyeballs and can’t find the right sort of help I need as I’m not doing it day in day out. Can someone please point me in the right direction for some form of help please ? I’m even off my head when i write this and im not even enjoining it but keep on doing it every week or so, im destroying my life because of it
