- We’ve seen some unique builds over the years and this truck is definitely toward the top of that list! This thing makes over 3000HP, has three turbos (two above the bed and one on the passenger floorboard), and this rolls coal at 160 pounds of boost unlike anything we’ve ever seen! This truck is absolutely mind blowing. What do you guys think?

High pressure pump . Diesel do not have spark plugs its injected into the engine at its combustion cycle .
@@mannys4539 the 900cc pump is referring to the injection pump. On a street driven 5.9 cummins 1cc is worth about 1.6-2hp. That goes up exponentially with timing and boost though.

RyTrapp0 4.8sec 1/8th 3000hp? That’s funny Millikens nova has 1900hp it’s a 6.7cummins based with a single turbo and lots of NOS ran 4.2 @180 there’s no way he’s 3000hp or something is wrong with his setup and 3200hp promods run 3.8-3.7 in the 1/8th at 200mph+

Diesel builds are underrated because they have no place in a drag race. Alot of them have 2000hp/3000hp yet still run a 10 second pass because nobody can put it to the ground let alone through a transmission

@@uglymechanics6599 that's not how it works. the first 1/8 is from a standstill, the start of the second 1/8 he's already going 150mph. the back half is gonna be a lot faster.

Just to put two things in prospective. Cleetus with Leroy runs a 5.2 1/8th @145 on a 7.82 pass. So this truck is moving out. Also shows how bad ass Leroy with cleet at the helm really is

That thing can quite obviously not bring the power to the ground, chirping all the way down the track. With a suspension workover that thing would be faster even on wastegate pressure
Looks like it may be an issue with all that weight in the rear it’s not doing wheelies but I see the front end is coming up enough to maybe throw the grip off

You can doubt it all you want, but if you had knowledge of that pump and that turbo combo(along with the fact that it's a Scheid combo) you wouldn't
You can already see the massive amount of ET left on the table with that launch - always a problem with these extreme diesels - nevermind the weight that it's carrying WELL beyond even the heaviest roots blown big block
If it was just as easy as building it and just going out there and making flawless pass after flawless pass, there would be a shit load more people pushing diesel this far than there are

How the HELL does a diesel turn at 7000 rpm? I love hearing crazy things for the first time.
Less stroke on the crankshaft and you can spin the engine alot higher rpm with less feet per min on the pistons. So you wanna take an sbc and run 8k rpm daily just put a 3" stroke crank in it from a 289.
Powerdriven diesel have revved there Cummins to 8200rpm but it was a sad end

I didn't notice that but in the very beginning of the video you can sort of see down the exhaust. There is some sort of cross shaped thing. Maybe stator vanes. Why not?

I love the emergency shut down plates on the turbos. it really puts into perspective how much force those turbos can put on something that is put in front of them when your emergency shut off plate has to be a ~1/2" thick solid plate.

You can't really calculate the maximum torque from the information in the video. But assuming it's deliver 3k hp at 7k rpm the torque at that rpm is around 3000 nm or 2200 ft*lb.

@@SuprSi I know that. But i would not be surprised if it is close to 4k. With setups like this diesels don't have that extreme torque to power ratio, but numbers closer to a petrol engine.

The piston speeds in this thing is gonna be unreal at 7krpm... Plus the cylinder pressure at 100+ lbs...
Yushan Chen must be a hell of a rod to take 7000 rpm and that much heat and pressure.
The guy said it was a 394, which is a 6.7L bore with a 5.9L stroke. 4.724" stroke at 7000 rpm is 5511 feet per minute piston speed. That's fairly typical for drag racing/tractor pulling.
Pistons can really only go so fast, I believe about 80mph, even in high revving F1 engines. Shorter stroker and bigger bore allows higher revs with similar piston speed so maybe this is over bored a lot. Either way its listen speed isn't any more than most gas engines at 7k

Years ago (like 2008 or 09) I saw Scheid run a dragster (240" Super Comp chassis) with a 5.9 / compound setup at Beech Bend (KY). I say "saw" b/c I was standing behind it in the staging lanes waiting for my group to run and had to wait for the smoke to clear to see the scoreboard. I want to say it was like 7.0 @ 173 mph, which at the time was the ET and mph diesel world record. Damn near unheard of at the time but much more common now.

I am so glad you guys are starting to show the diesel events. I have been in the diesel scene for a little bit now and there is nothing like it. So much fun and just amazing to watch.. I love the sled pulls, I have been going to sled pulls since I was a kid, over 40 years now and I am amazed at how fast the diesel races has grown in the past 5 years. Keep it up 1320.

Also a lot of tracks aren’t long enough for the really fast diesels to run 1/4s on. They’re a fair bit heavier than an equally fast car and need a lot more stopping room.

Exactly! Way too much squatting and wheel bounce. I'm surprised that the differential can handle it. He's got tons of grip on those huge tires, but the transfer is slow. He'd run in the low 4's if they could work that out.
