Whilst you can- and should- appreciate this on its own merits, if you go and listen to the original version, I think it might uncover a whole new level of astonishment. She totally re-created the song rather than just doing a "regular cover version" (not that there's anything wrong with that...) If you want to continue to be astonished, I'd recommend one of her own songs, "Once Upon Another Time", particularly the Live at the El Rey video. It's just her and a harmonium and she sings the first half a cappella, and even when she brings in the accompaniment, it's discordant and ominous and spine-tinglingly awesome. But really, anything she does is amazing. She's amazing. Thanks for this!

I'm a huge Elton John fan. I really dislike covers because they don't rise to the same level as Elton. However this was knocking it out of the ballpark. Her vocals are insane. Highly recommend the whole 2 lp or cd set of Goodbye Yellow Brick Riad. Most critics consider it his best work. It's on lists of top albums of all time. It's amazing...to be able to heat it for the first time is magic. Enjoy. ✌💞
