When you're explaining the hardware aspect of your audio, could you kindly have an b-roll of the hardware and cabling instead? That would GREATLY help.
Harris, if you are using a Nvidia graphics card (most people are) then I recommend you use Shadow play to record your raw gameplay footage. Shadowplay uses very little system resources and also means you don’t need to use that Elgato capture software you’ve been having some issues with. You can setup ‘Instant Replay’ just like your 'Flashback Recording' and save it via your stream deck using an (Alt + F10) key binding. Hope this helps you or others out.
Hey Harris, just wanted to say thank you for all of your content. Not only is it extremely informative but im actually seeing growth on my channel using the practices you preach. U da realest i appreciate you.
I hope people realize how much of a blessing you are to the content creating community! You’ve helped my Twitch channel (still small) grow faster than before and I continue to learn with every video. Keep up the awesome work!
Most the stuff used in this are above my current budget but it definitely gives some amazing insight and ideas I can do with my current setup. Thanks Harris
This is EXACTLY the info I needed to be able to record gameplay for youtube purposes. I've been using OBS, but I wanted to be able to record my camera in 4k and my gameplay in 1440p separately to be able to manipulate individually. Heck yes!!!
Gotta be realistic all of this gear is for the top 5% of streamers, two PC’s two capture cards two stream decks plus more it’s not realistic for the everyday person, good video tho
Stream Deck mobile dude, works great for small streams as well! This actually changed the game for me after I finished tinkering with it yesterday. As a small-to-mid size creator, this really changed my content! It is now so much easier to stream without damaging the quality of my RUclips content! Before this, I was gaming twice as often just to make content for both RUclips and Twitch. This is a GAME CHANGER.
You can do a streamdeck plus a Ugreen usb 2 pc switch with that one, much cheaper, although you will still need 2 elgato capture cards to do the RAW cam footage if you are interested. Also there is Touch Portal and there is a free version, but i dont think u get the flashback recording features from elgato.
I have found so much value from your videos it's crazy. You know your shit!! I think you should do an XLR audio set up video for absolute beginners. I've been trying to find a video which shows me what to connect a Yamaha MG10XU to. Does it have a AD converter built in?? I'm so confused! And I don't know what AD converter that I should buy if I want to use one to get the best sound quality. Like do you connect your goxlr to an AD converter? My guess is you do!!
While somewhat expensive, I think content creators also need to remember the words you spoke about in a few videos prior about tips and tricks involving beginning streamers. These items may not viably be available to them right now, but they will in time if they stick to their guns and continue to create content for not just their live streams, but their other channels as well. Evolve their brand, and remain diligent. Overall man I think much of what you showed here has HUGE potential, but like you said. Sometimes it takes just one person to see something about those devices that isn't being used in a unique way, for it to be something potentially BIG.
I binge all your videos and take all your tips to heart, for some reason i feel like i can trust your advice. Its weird for me because I cant even trust some of my friends I know. Keep making great content and Im happy I found your channel a little bit ago
OBS.Live has an option where you can have a recording automatically saved of what you're streaming live. That way you don't have to worry about downloading a VOD off of Twitch. It keeps that same quality you streamed at and makes it easy to access your gameplay.
also, if you're playing PUBG, Fortnite, or Rocket League, you can utilize Gif Your Game for free and it'll allow you to utilize a single hot key to save a replay...in 1080p. They automatically send you a link via Discord to that replay (typically takes about 30 seconds to hit my Discord) and you can decide to download it or not. You can get a lot of this same stuff (minus the audio functionality he refers to) without having to spend any extra money on new devices.
Never occurred to me that YT let's players recorded gameplay and camera separately and then combine them during editing. This whole time I thought everyone just used OBS as a one stop shop for recording. But it makes sense for the let's player that existed before OBS.
Streamlabs came out with source recording. So you can record different sources if you separate your music from the final stream mix. So you can record gameplay without any mic input or music with any alerts.
Nice tip, just got an elgato hd60 + usb capture and didn't know about flashback. Also getting a macro keyboard for my new streaming PC (streamdedk to expensive for me to justify as a small streamer) so will be looking into it. Keep up the good work.
i didn't watch this video immediately because i didn't think it was going to teach me something i didn't already know. I'm glad I did, because I was just lamenting about this low quality vod rip issue! thanks harris!
I love your stuff man keep killing it your approach feels real and the way you reach out the emotion you tag all the perfect areas of each topic great job brother.
I absolutely love the content. This is a very unique approach to having dedicated RUclips Content. I currently run a 1 pc setup with a GoXLR and Streamlabs OBS. If you are not concerned with your stream hearing your music you can just uncheck music from broadcast stream mix and still send it to your headphones. I have found that Streamlabs is a pretty sufficient software for recording 1080p content at high quality if you like your overlay. In my scenario it is best to just record and not stream for best possible performance out of a 1 pc setup. With your setup you get to stream and record at the highest quality possible with requiring excessive storage! I already have the cam link (6D mk ii) and 4k60 pro mk ii (Xbox). Once I can afford to buy a streaming PC I would like to try your setup method! I am jealous of the flashback feature. Keep the videos coming!
So I was already thinking of how I need to get a DSLR or at least a mirrorless camera to replace my c922, but man the flashback recording potential with an El Gato is really adding urgency to it. I'm planning on getting the 4K60 Mk2 here soon, and I have a HD60 Pro as well. So I can totally replicate your setup with the camera. That just seems so...so nice man.
Great video, covers almost exactly the use case I've been trying to figure out. I've been wanting to stream and record and stream at the same time, at different qualities (1080p60 for recording, 720p60 for stream), and leave out the stream alerts and such from the recordings. I don't care about having the camera stream recorded separately. Also, my gaming PC can record the games I play without any issue. It just can't record and stream at the same time. When recording, I only have game imagery in the video. When streaming, I add a Webcam and a StreamElements scene that includes a static overlay and animated alerts. Which makes me wonder whether there's any problem with doing this: set up a gaming and streaming PC. On the game PC, record with OBS the way I usually do. Set up the usual hdmi mirrored monitor output and feed that to the streaming PC via capture device. Connect the camera to streaming PC as well. Run OBS on streaming PC to stream only. This does load the gaming pc a bit more than in the video, but since I already know that I can play and record at the quality I want on my single game pc, this shouldn't be an issue, right? But it means I don't need to get the extra capture device with the magic sauce, just a single, simple hdmi capture device. Since I currently only do 1080p60, I should be able to get away with just an Elgato CamLink 4k. I'd do audio the same way as in this video, with a GOXLR mini, only difference would be to feed the mic to both PCs. Any reason this wouldn't work? Am I missing any obvious pitfalls? Thanks.
Videos great. Love my GOXLR and totally appreciate any advice on how to use it. Also, just wanted to mention stream hardware like the GOXLR and Stream Deck are super useful even if you don't stream.
Been binging your vids for a month now, and learning A LOT. And while this is super cool and these tricks are packed with potential, as soon as you said "I run 2 pcs" I was just watching for intrigue now, rather than something I could apply myself 😅 cuz of.... lol money 😱
I like the idea of going from the HD60 into the quad capture. Can I achieve the same thing going from a HD60 in my gaming PC into a Cam Link 4K in my streaming PC?
Can't sleep so I designed a new dual rig system I'm sharing with everyone to get their opinion. It's two liquid cooled systems mounted on wetbenches inside a server cabinet. parts list is here: www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/87J9SP3K7KN9?ref_=wl_share I know Harris could definitely improve it in the A/V area. It's just an idea born from lack of sleep.
i'm interested in your thoughts on using the selective recording function that's just been added in Streamlabs OBS for being able to have a version that's streamed to twitch but be able to have say a local recording simultaneously that is ONLY of your gameplay (and whatever multitrack audio you want to do)
This video actually answered a few of my questions! I was unable to use the Elgato CamLink and 4k60pro in my 2 pc setup because I only had 1 capture card (in the streaming PC). Your 2 capture card solution is what I was trying to figure out. Thanks!
@@Ricky-xi1xn the Camlink 4k actually requires an open HDMI port. If you're using a typical 2 pc streaming setup the gaming PC is connected to the streaming PCs HDMI port. You also must use the streaming pc (which now has NO AVAILABLE HDMI ports) for the CamLink. An additional capture card creates an additional HDMI port on the streaming pc for the CamLink.
It's 2022, I'm thinking of going Dual PC or Dual system in one case (i.e. Son of Orthus 🙂). Question? Which path would you recommend in 2022 post-GPU hoarding and new Ryzen and Intel chips on the market now?
Harris I have never missed a video. Your content is inspirational, just want to note, if you ever come to Mixer .... we out here. But wondering if you are going to Pax South I would love to speak with you personally regarding RUclips content
I gather, that this video is 1 1/2 years old and the reason, why you can't record the camera footage in the streaming PC is, that your quad card at the time wasn't an Elgato card. The question is now, would this work with a Capture 4k60 Mk2 and a Camlink Pro in the streaming PC and then capture both streams there (camera and gameplay) ? I must go and test that, as that's the setup, I have.
Some of this doesn’t make sense to me, why does the gaming pc need a capture card, wouldn’t the better idea be to capture it on the streaming pc, then pass through to the gaming pc if necessary. If you do it this way, you only have a single key capture for both highlights of gaming and camera.
Have you done a video on how to safely manage what music you can legally play during a twitch stream? I ask mostly because of twitch terms of service vague legal jargon.
So I have the HD60 Pro in my PC & I have no idea what 2 do when I turn on the OBS & everything it just shows No Signal. I've reset, uninstalled & re-downloaded the software & everything & it still doesn't work. I have to plug in my HD60 S+. I hope u can help
How do you manage separating personal (private) presence and your online (public) presence? Is the Facebook that you post here the same one you use for family or is it set up more like a public figure type account? Sorry for posting a question that I feel might be unrelated to the current video.
Harris if you're watching this, please help. What if i want to this setup but have a green screen? You can't add a chroma key to game capture if your source is not a camera.
I bet Harris gets as excited as I do at New guitar pedals. Cause you're always thinking of a way to make the new cool sound ala Tom Morello, Matt Bellamy, Mike Kerr, etc.
I'm going to be honest here. I like messing with my setup (both hardware as well as software/graphics like overlays, alerts, streamdeck icons, transitions) way more than I like actually streaming.
Great info and ideas here! Can you theoretically do this same thing with the audio in software using something like VBAN? Do you think you will ever do any sort of content around that?
Really leaning towards getting the GoXLR. Have you noticed a difference in sound quality with connecting to an amp that powers your headphones? Would be connecting my Schiit Magni 3 and Behrdynamic dt990 600 ohm to the GoXLR.
@Alpha Gaming, love all your videos youre teaching me alot. Is the a budget friendlier device to the GoXLR? I new to youtube/twitch and not making money off it yet as its only a hobby atm so need some wallet friendly alternatives..
I wanna see the video capturing the moment Harris figured this out. Just like a shot from outside the room where you can hear him slighty going "omg. wait.....ya i think.....omg it works! YEs YES YES YES!!! hahahahahaha
See here is something that confuses me what equipment would i need to be able to do this even in a small scale while only using ONE pc to stream/game. I'm not big enough to consider building/buying a streaming pc even though i would love to i just cant afford it. Could you do a "gear" video for us who cant afford the whole extra computer yet. Sadly i actually have a computer i "could" use as a streaming pc but it was randomly blue screening no matter what i did to it. I havent gotten a capture card at all so i think i would have to get that before i even considered fixing it if i can fix it.
I solved the resolution problem by opening nvidia control panel and selecting my refresh rate and resolution again and not actually changing them and then the card figured itself out. Also Make sure not to use nvidia colors use the defauly and also don't turn on overclocking for your monitor to like 165 hz on say a 1440p 144hz because it can't recognize it and thinks it's at 59.97
How does this setup work if you already have a camlink? Do I need to get another capture card for my gaming pc? 🤔 really thinking about it. this seems like a better idea.
with my GoXLR i have my speaker set into my line out, with only my console and system routed there and my muting options for both at "Mute to Lineout" so when im off-stream i can play music or games on my speakers and when i press the mute options i only shut off the speakers so that they aren't getting picked up by my mike and yet the sound goes through my stream. my question for your set up is what CPU is recommended for those pc's?
Just bought the Elgato 4k60 Pro HDR. Software crashes every time I try to open the settings (4k capture utility). It's trash right now. Also it makes obs run at 30fps for long periods of time just by opening the video settings within the source
Ok I'm back, I have this setup. However when I plug in my camera to the HD60 in the gaming pc and run it to the quad capture in the streaming pc, I get no signal from the appropriate video channel in my obs. What am I missing here? Please help.
quick question. i have my webcam for my stream setup on streaming pc and not my gaming pc. it goes out of sync at times when trying to use transitions. should i switch my webcam over to my gaming pc? and if so what are u doing to get it captured and picked up on the streaming pc?
I thought I remembered Harris saying you can connect 2 GoXLRs to get 8 sliders, but I can't find that bit in any of the videos. I was skipping through as I didn't want to rewatch what could be more than an hour of GoXLR videos he's done. Can anyone confirm this and how its done?
I've watched several of your videos and they're all very informative so thank you for that. My only suggestion is to add more b-roll of the products you talk about. Cos I feel like I don't see enough of the gear that you're explaining, and it's more so a lot of your face with nice audio. Like full 10 mins of the video a lot.
IF you had the cpu power to do all of this in a single tower and the motherboard to support all of this, can it be done? Something like a high ens ryzen cpu + 2 elgatos + quad capture card is not something you can't do?
4 года назад
Is it possible to do the music trick with the new elgato wave 3 mic ?
you mean recording camera and gameplay differently from one another and thn putting it together? if so you could use nvidia shadowplay to record gameplay and obs to record camera + audacity to record voice
I’m guessing I could use the cam link instead of the quad cap card for the camera going to stream PC? So it would be Camera > Hd60 pro > camlink/stream pc if that makes sense?
Be real with me here. Useful tip? or elitist expensive garbage video? ;)

I've been trying to figure out how to do this! The webcam/HD60 Pro setup is genius!
3:40 I’m screaming HOW!!!!! At the top of my lungs. I can’t wait for the rest of the video
We need an updated version of this video, now that cam link pro has been released
i feel you on the addiction
Some of the best audio quality on the RUclipsz right here. No lie.
@Alpha Gaming, love all your videos youre teaching me alot. Is the a budget friendlier device to the GoXLR? I new to youtube/twitch and not making money off it yet as its only a hobby atm so need some wallet friendly alternatives..
Sounds fun to experiment hardware and softwar. Just wish I had money to afford the hardware needed.
I wanna see the video capturing the moment Harris figured this out. Just like a shot from outside the room where you can hear him slighty going "omg. wait.....ya i think.....omg it works! YEs YES YES YES!!! hahahahahaha
I have been doing something similar with just an HD60 for a while. just wasn't able to capture the camera :( awesome video!
Very interesting. I don’t even Twitch but I find this interesting. My kids want to do this stuff some day so I’m getting an idea what all is involved.
Man love your videos dude, they're sooooo valuable!
Any significant latency introduced on the camera feed going through the gaming PC or is it a "true" pass thru?
Also Make sure not to use nvidia colors use the defauly and also don't turn on overclocking for your monitor to like 165 hz on say a 1440p 144hz because it can't recognize it and thinks it's at 59.97
This is the most helpful video on this channel.
How does this setup work if you already have a camlink? Do I need to get another capture card for my gaming pc? 🤔 really thinking about it. this seems like a better idea.
I am so happy you made this. thank you
with my GoXLR i have my speaker set into my line out, with only my console and system routed there and my muting options for both at "Mute to Lineout" so when im off-stream i can play music or games on my speakers and when i press the mute options i only shut off the speakers so that they aren't getting picked up by my mike and yet the sound goes through my stream. my question for your set up is what CPU is recommended for those pc's?
Just bought the Elgato 4k60 Pro HDR. Software crashes every time I try to open the settings (4k capture utility). It's trash right now. Also it makes obs run at 30fps for long periods of time just by opening the video settings within the source
Ok I'm back, I have this setup. However when I plug in my camera to the HD60 in the gaming pc and run it to the quad capture in the streaming pc, I get no signal from the appropriate video channel in my obs. What am I missing here? Please help.
If you're attempting this on a one PC setup... does having the MK.II recording/streaming on OBS/Elgato Capture use a lot more processing power?
thank you for consistently bringing great tips to us, appreciate your efforts
Do you need a capture card for 1 streaming PC? If yes, why? (an example)
Jesse Pinkman really got himself together.
quick question. i have my webcam for my stream setup on streaming pc and not my gaming pc. it goes out of sync at times when trying to use transitions. should i switch my webcam over to my gaming pc? and if so what are u doing to get it captured and picked up on the streaming pc?
What specs do you have in your streaming build?
Thanks in advance
IF you had the cpu power to do all of this in a single tower and the motherboard to support all of this, can it be done? Something like a high ens ryzen cpu + 2 elgatos + quad capture card is not something you can't do?
Is it possible to do the music trick with the new elgato wave 3 mic ?
I'm having the screen glitch too with the Elgato 4k60pro Mk2. I hope they fix it soon!
Wow Japan looks so awesome, must look like your home. Never knew.
do you have a video showing all of this in action?
Shadowplay Instant replay will have to do for a while I guess lmao
Is the separate recording of the camera and gameplay also possible on a single PC setup?
you mean recording camera and gameplay differently from one another and thn putting it together?
if so you could use nvidia shadowplay to record gameplay and obs to record camera + audacity to record voice
Pure genius use of the flashback recording. This is the kind of gems I subscribe for. Bless 🙏
Do you have a video on those LED lights in your background? (blue and red)
Well thanks to support my XR resolution though
The GOXLR is awesome but can you do a video for cheaper options?
I’m guessing I could use the cam link instead of the quad cap card for the camera going to stream PC? So it would be Camera > Hd60 pro > camlink/stream pc if that makes sense?
Do you need the quad capture to make this work? I don’t have multiple cameras
Love the channel but dam video stares at 430
