Me neither. I feel so old now.
It happens fast so just say fuck it and live. Im not even old like that and already see that's so very true.

"Millennials who's entire personality is just based on a book series they read when they were 10"
- Alex Meyers, 2020
I’m legit triggered
Can't deny that this is a little true
Thank God I had more interests as a kid.
He does know he's a millennial right?
I have no regrets and I read them in my early teens
Props to Lilly Potter. Apparently the ONLY parent in the wizarding World who loved her kid. Otherwise everybody would have love powers and a natural immunity to death.
You conveniently forgot the part where you need to literally sacrifice your life willingly for that magic to work...
Edit: Besides that, faulting any series based on it’s premise is stupid because litterly every protagonist in every story is someone who happen to be in a rare/strange circumstances. That’s what sets the main plot in motion and starts their character arc.
@@vikkran401 It's not that rare to be honest
@@donkekung4150 How is that not a rare circumstance?
@@vikkran401 Parents are willing to die for their offspring, it's a common genetic thing.
In poor countries or periods of war, just like in harry potter, almost everywhere is a high risk of danger, including children which increase the chance of parents sacrificing themselves for the child's life..
@@donkekung4150 it's not the dying to save her child part that activated the protection. Sacrificial love only works if the person willingly chooses to die when explicitly given the option to live. Voldemort offered Lily the chance to step aside and live and she still picked death. How many parents do you know are given the option to be spared by their killers? Voldemort wasn't exactly merciful.
in other words, had he showed up, she stood up to him, he killed her, and then proceeded to cast the killing curse on Harry... that would be the end of the book, Harry dies, V man wins. Instead he repeatedly asked her to step aside, she refused knowing it was a death sentence, ergo sacrificial protection for Harry.
It's the same reason Harry can come back to life after the incident in the forest. His blood, and by extension his mother's protection, is inside Voldemort. So when Harry WILLINGLY chooses to walk into the forest to meet Voldemort, KNOWING he will die, the protection activates and his blood in Voldemort keeps him tethered(a luvcrux if you will)
The thing that always bothered me about Quiditch in the films is how they say "if you catch the snitch we win". But IT ISN'T TRUE. If you catch the snitch you get 150 points and the game ends. In the Goblet of Fire they make a great example of catching the snitch and still losing when Victor Krum at the world cup realizes his team is just going to get massacred by Ireland, so he catches the snitch because he'd rather lose on his own terms.
Your so right. People forget that the chasers are constantly scoring points.
Oh so the team whose seeker catches the snitch only wins like 95% to 99% of time. That makes the sport make a lot more sense I guess.
Ain't that the truth.
Yes, but thats in HOGWARTS' quidditch.
In real quidditch, its not the same.
Some matches could last for days too
Fun fact: in the first book it mentions that Fred and George got detention for throwing snowballs at the back of Quirrell's turban, so that means they hit o'l Voldy in the face with snowballs
watching “avpm” [a very potter musical] made me cackle how hard it must have been for moldevort to live in squirrel’s head. taking showers, drinking and eating, sleeping [not that way teehee], and basically every daily independent human task must be difficult when you have the dark lord mooching on you on the back of your head.
i bet moldevort must have ranted to squirrel about it
“QUIRREL”
“y- yes my lord?”
“okay, get over the dark lord. we’re there. we’ve reached that point. did you notice the snowballs hitting on me?!”
“that sounds wrong.”
“I KNOW THAT-”

Harry: literally kills a teacher
Dumbledore: 10 BILLION POINTS TO GRYFFINDOR
😂
Well, in the books he didn’t kill anyone lol, he was just unconscious the whole time...
But the teacher tried to kill him in the first place sooo.....
I’d say it’s more of self defense but yeah idk
I'm surprised none of the other teachers called him out at the end of the end of year feast.
Also, I totally agree with the whole 'if you hadn't read the books, this makes no sense' argument. Like watch Movie 5. I SWEAR that if you had never read the books, that movie is just a string of things happening for 2 hours. Also, they somehow made the LONGEST BOOK into the SHORTEST MOVIE. It's madness.
Eh second shortest, but i agree
I haven't seen the movies in a while, but I do remember that one of the movies (likely Order of the Phoenix as you mention) seemed to me to be just a bunch of disjointed scenes, and thinking that if I hadn't read the book, I'd be totally lost.
I thought Deathly Hallows was the longest.
Yeah I watched movies before reading the books and in the 3rd movie because we weren't told about James being an animagus and weren't told that the patronus took the form of an animal I was like why the hell does harry think his father is a deer that it wasn't but it looked like a deer to me😂😂
@@graciecat7389surprisingly chamber of secrets is the longest film
In that second scene you mentioned, it explains that strange or magical things happen when a wizard or witch get's very angry and the magic inside them get's out of control, plus you have to be very experienced and powerful to do wandless or nonverbal or both spells and characters like Dumbledore do it multiple times throughout the movie, wands just let the less powerful and even the powerful focus and control the magic.
HARRYYY DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIREEE???!!!!! -dumbledore asked calmly

They imply what he might have seen. It makes more sense after half blood prince in the deathly hallows......He saw his family.
In the book there was a troll, and a room with three poisons, two cups of alcohol, one potion to proceed and one to go back, and a riddle, both of which were left out of the movie.
The troll was already knocked out by Quirrel, but it was a much much bigger troll than the one on Halloween so they wouldn't have been able to get past it.
Hermione took quite a long time to figure out the riddle.
Those flying keys could probably kill you by all impaling you, so anyone less than a once-a-century seeker or someone able to overpower or undo the key's enchantments wouldn't be able to get past it.
The chess board is deadly. If Ron wasn't on a piece that already existed he'd have been killed; you had to play Chess in such a way as you not only checkmate White's King but also so that YOU, AS A PIECE, survive. Not easy at all.
The Devil's Snare is simple enough but only if you know what you're dealing with and know how to survive it.
Fluffy is an obstacle you can only get past if you're either a freakishly powerful wizard or know how to put it to sleep.
The Mirror of Erised is most genius, and frankly, Dumbledore could have just had the mirror out in some random corridor and the Stone would be safe by virtue of nobody even knowing of the Stone's existence, as well as the fact that Dumbledore probably didn't tell even the staff about his protections. The trapdoor and all protections beyond it would have just been a giant, deadly red herring with a fake Stone at the end.
I think Hermione acts like that at the beginning because she's from a muggle family and wants to fit in too much, so she have to prove everyone that she's good as the ones from wizard families.
@Treat People With Kindness // yep you are right
True
Hermione went from a know it all to fiesty teenager willing to fight back and throw punches, she matured through out the years.

For anyone who doesn't know yet, the reason Rons first spell in the movie to turn his pet rat yellow doesn't work is because the rat is actually a polymorphed human, which you know in the later movies as Peter Petigrew, of course everyone whos seen all the movies knows he is the rat, but most people don't realize that that is the reason behind this spell not working. i think saying "used to" was giving him too much credit, he maintains that energy all through his adulthood until the 7th book.
Snape was propably the best character in the movies, just because of the actor. Hell I miss the guy, such a great actor...
Snape a... Where's my hug kind of guy? AH-AHAHAHAHA!
Lol excuse me while I laugh off into the sunset, because literally Snape is the kind of guy who would run away all his life and into his grave in order to AVOID any kind of physical contact whatsoever, especially WhErE's mY HuG AdUlTs when he was little (and ofc when he was adult, how creepy would it be to have adults who go "where's my hug" with other adults :/ )

Snape was definitely ‘where’s my hug’ with Lily. But yes, otherwise he probably hated being touched.
16:37 was so funny. I was also laughing while he said, "So turns out Harry beat the evil wizard man with the power of love."
Quidditch is actually pretty interesting as a sport. Because in the books youll see that the seekers at the beginning of the game both compete super hard to catch the snitch / prevent the other seeker from catching it, but once there are points on the board its all about catching it at the right time.
Like if your team is down 160 points, then catching the snitch literally makes you lose.
Yes, but if you're down 16 goals, you deserve to lose. You only need to catch the snitch before the other team scores 15 times. Not even that, you need to catch the snitch before the other team scores 15 times more than your team. Like, in American Football, if the opposing team scored 14 field goals in a row for 42 points, but then you got a perfect picture of Pikachu for 45 points and just ended the game, completely invalidating the other team's utter dominance over yours, that would make for a pretty stupid game
@@tilerh17 but the other team has an equivalent chance of catching the snitch as well.
@@Kitty12476 then why even have other players in the team. Imagine at the end lf a football game if they would toss a coin who would really win.
Right but even in the books it's made clear that there's only been a few times in Quidditch history that a team has caught the Snitch and still lost. So the Chasers are pretty much useless. Combine that with the fact that the game only ends when the Snitch is caught and you get a "team" sport where only one person on the team really matters, maybe three if you count the Beaters. You might as well just be watching the Seekers compete to catch the Snitch, why even have a team? Even just having a time limit or score limit would fix this but instead it's just used as a plot device so Harry can pull off some daring stunt and show how awesome and good at flying he is.

It's so strange to look back and know Snape was helping and trying to save Harry everytime.they thought he was trying to kill him.
I always saw the wands as ways for a wizard to control their magic power properly, while incatiations were like training wheels. So the first time harry made the glass disappear, that was a unintentional loss of control due to not having a wand. While in the final movies, the stronger teachers and villains don't need incantations to cast spells or deflect because they don't need training wheels anymore.

When wizards are young and haven’t learned to control their magic, they can make strange things happen whenever they have very strong emotions without meaning to. Harry has performed spontaneous magic in the past like when he was being chased by Dudley and his friends and he leapt onto the room of the school. It aslo happened once when Petunia gave him an awful haircut and his hair magically grew back the next morning. The reason he never does it again is because he learns to control his magic and channel it directly through his wand.

14:44 i think i can explain that. dumbledore probably didnt want the puzzles to protect the stone. what he wanted was to catch whoever was trying to steal it. he told all te teachers that 'oh heres this super super secret thing and you have to help me protect it' but he just wanted everyone to know that its in hogwarts. the mirror is protection enough. if harry didnt show up, the stone would have never come out of the mirror. it was dumbledores plan to trap the thief infront of the mirror, longing for the stone but unable to get it

One of the best parts of these movies and books is watching and reading the series over and over. How so? Genuinely curious how you can tell. I've never noticed it but it'd be cool to know.
@FedUpFancy well it's mostly through the little words we don't pay much attention to in the paragraphs. Like how Snape will make "piercing" eye contact with Harry, and how when Snape does that, the following words usually tend to be Harry thinking about what he has done wrong. Sometimes the narrator will say how Harry tries his hardest to meet and not waver on Snape's gaze while the description of Harry's misdeeds takes place. You can see the same thing happen with Dumbledore towards Harry sometimes too. But it happens quite often between Harry and Snape.

After looking at the Harry Potter movies again, I noticed that Harry is on the "kids who had good parents but both of them died and had to live with their mean relatives" category. Ms. Honey from Matilda is an example of one as well as the Baudeliare children in A Series of Unfortunate Events and even the siblings from the movie Grave of the Fireflies fall in that category. Also how Harry manages to make the glass disappear is similar to how Matilda discovers that she has the power of telekinesis when she knocked the water over with her mind because of her pent up frustrations being around her neglectful parents.
14:56 on the topic of the protection of the stone: there is a really popular, German podcast called 5 minutes Harry Podcast, in which the maker proposes an interesting theory: the protections are not there to protect the stone, they’re there to be time consuming so that if you arrive at the mirror you are trapped there, if you want to use the stone. So if Harry wouldn’t have shown up, Dumbledore would have found Quirrel at some point, trapped in front of the mirror.

BAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH ACCURATE MY SISTER LOVE HP SHE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE FLAWS IN THE MOVIE AND I JUST WANT TO SCREAM AT HER
BAHAHAH
We do not speak of the forbidden media
At least Logan Lerman was cute tho xD
The biggest thing that doesn’t make sense in the movie is that Harry apparently is the only person in the whole book that has someone that love them and sacrifice themselves because honestly if it’s that easy to create the spell basically unknowingly, then anybody that had someone that love them that much would have a scar from these death eaters
Not really. Lily had a chance to survive yet she chose to die to protect Harry. Why didn't James's death protected Harry and Lily? Because he never had the choice. Voldemort was going to kill him anyway. Lily was given the chance yet she chose death out of love which in turn shielded Harry from death.
@@shara26dimpy True. Plus it seems that relationships in wizard world are not that great most of the time. Voldemort's mom used very refined love spell to make Voldie's dad a slave to her. And as Voldemort was born when the man was under the spell Voldemort had trouble with empathy
It’s not that they didn’t have someone who didn’t love them that much but the nature of lilys sacrifice, she stood there without lifting a hane(or wand) to defend herself and died. Mrs weasley was willing to sacrifice against belatrix when she tried to kill Ginny but it was in the form of a duel and she happened to win instead of being killed

In the first movie the cloak seems a bit too powerful for it to just be handed to Harry.. but then when you find out in the later movies that it's one of the three deathly hallows, it kind of doesn't seem powerful enough, or like it doesn't work well enough. People are always kind of sniffing it out.
The best part of the movies, we can all agree, was Alan Rickman's acting.
I would say not the best but one of the best
RIP Alan Rickman
He made the movies so much better
Thank you
No! We can't all agree. Don't agree at all. Only good thing he has been in is Galaxy Quest. He was majorly miscast as Snape.

Yeah, I agree with you. Well that statement itself isn't controversial. If anything, it's accurate
It kinda checks out with the amount of stuff they’ve changed from the book. 😂
When I saw the title I was thinking 'wands at the ready'
15:13 Out of context, this line sounds like he's asking to roll for a dexterity check.
What they really should do is a series of Harry Potter that includes everything from the books. I think animated would be the best way to do it, especially because they could show characters like Luna sitting at meals in the Great Hall years before they actually join the story. It would be wonderful Easter eggs to see her sitting alone at the end of the Ravenclaw table with her radish earrings reading a new Quibbler while eating breakfast. It wouldn't be worth it to employ actors to spend years as an extra before actually having meaningful work to do.
Looks like you got your wish (not animated though).
"Harry's able to vanish things with his mind but never does that again." This is explained in book 3, young magical children tend to do accidental magic when their emotions are hightened, it's actually commented on earlier than 3 (Neville and his uncle who shoved him out a 3rd story window but he ends up bouncing) but it's only directly addressed in 3 when Harry inflates his aunt Marge. There is wandless magic but it's explained to be I believe something they learn in their last year of wizarding school, at least in Britain, Africa I believe doesn't even train with wands and all learn to use wandless magic.
Pretty sure it was a joke O-O
Wandless magic = uncontrolled magic (unless you are very advanced)
If you watch the history of ilvermorny from movieflame they explain that before ilvermorny, there really weren't any wand users either

the reason Harry could make the glass disappear, was because wizards who aren't trained can't control their magic, and so stuff like that happens when they feel a strong emotion.

J.K. Rowling put so much of her life into Harry Potter!
yeah i really recommend reading the books first, as a lot of the bits that are cut out of the movie were actually really important in the book. the book has such a fine and intricate plot, but in the movie, they just kinda roughed it up, and a lot of the conclusions that they come to in the movie don't really make sense, even though in the book it is backed up by a whole lot of evidence, and just overall makes a lot more sense. the books are just such a masterpiece, and I feel like the movies could have been done better, all though I guess they had to fit the plot into a reasonable time frame for the movies.
9:16 Well… besides the fact that he’s literally twice his character’s age and looks it. No seriously, Snape’s actually supposed to be one of the *youngest* professors at Hogwarts at the time

Neville: *flies*
Madam Hooch: "MR LONGBOTTOM!"
You have no idea how long this bugged me... He did what she asked for, and did it right. He wait for that whistle and then slowly flew up... In the books he flew up too soon, using too much force shooting up way too fast, which, i agree was a little bit dangerous...
