I love that the most recent movie was a different premise. Not “bad guys getting what they deserve” but parents who are trying to get back something they think the kid took.
Also the Buzz cameo as a cop had me rolling. “My family forgot my kid brother TWICE. So he pranks me every Christmas with a bogus call.” 😂

I still have my Talk Boy. It was not just a tape recorder with a microphone, it had speed adjustments on it. You could play back your recording slow to make your voice sound deep (which Kevin uses to mimic an adult when making the hotel reservation) or sped up to make you sound like a chipmunk. Believe it or not it was a really fun toy.
That would of been handy for musicians

The 2nd was the first one I watched. Being from London, I always loved seeing New York in movies, so maybe that’s why it has a special place in my childhood.

I was thinking exactly the same thing about those early 90’s movie soundtracks. The movie plots were usually pretty silly but those soundtracks made them pop and something about actual film being used gave a unique visual aesthetic.
I wanna understand how they had that many kids but still managed to be rich.

Best case scenario in this guy's mind, he's breaking into a child's room, and finding that child alone.
Even as a ten year old kid it was hard to ignore this was virtually exactly the same movie as the first one. I mean that crazy bird lady may as well have removed her mask to reveal she was crazy shovel guy all along.

yeah, it's easy to suspend some disbelief when he's able to lay traps in an hour or whatever when it's his own house but when it's his uncle's house that is mid-renovation it becomes a bit less plausible

Well in the first movie Kevin never made it into the truck. So by getting into the truck in the second movie, the parents have nothing worried about and also the family was in a rush to board the airplane before it took off.

Im a 90's kid who grew up in Australia and watching some of these American Christmas movies gave me this sense of magic and awe as we dont have white christmases here, due to daylight savings happening during our summer from December through Feb it only gets dark around 9pm and we have NO snow. I miss the 90's. This vid was funny! Really appreciate all the subtle comedic remarks and the deliberate ones too 😂. Subbed.

In real-world logic, they would have. But slapstick eschews literal consequences for the sake of comedy. You can imagine this remade as an animated cartoon or something like that, maybe using the Looney Toons characters or Muppets, and you lose almost nothing.

I agree that it made little sense in the little picture, but in the big picture a lot of people went to see it, and money wise, it did pretty good.

The villains of this movie should’ve been the Hotel staff. Them robbing rich guests, and Kevin getting proof. The inclusion of the Wet Bandits made this stupider
I love both movies. The second one is just ridiculous, which for me, makes it funnier. Also, I love Joe Pesci--Home Alone, My Cousin Vinny, Goodfellas. He cracks me up and scares me at the same time.
Me too, though in these movies I love both guys equally.

they were called to him but he got scared when they knocked, but he did end up calling them
He doesn’t because:
1. He wants to be alone in the beginning
2. He is probably is scared that police would get mad if they found out he went like a week home alone without telling them
3. There’s only two it’s just cooler to have three

Unless he heard about a plane crash or something (which I don't recall happening), then he would just simply believe that he and his family were in 2 separate US states.

Seriously. Last Christmas Day this movie came on, and I couldn’t remember if I’d ever seen all of it, and IF I had, it had to have been close to 20 years ago. I’m lucky if I remember anything past him first entering the hotel.
But all I remember thinking when it was just his parents being questioned by the police detective was how no one called CPS when they admitted this was the SECOND time (I believe in a row) they somehow left him behind at Christmas, and that it once again takes them FOREVER to realize it.
And that they really are: ABSOLUTELY, WITHOUT A DOUBT UNFIT TO PARENT. Kevin’s right in saying every other kid in the movie can do anything and not get in trouble. Kevin does one small thing wrong and it’s like Harry Potter being forced to live under the stairs.

You only realize these movies are kind of sad in retrospect. It's disturbing how easily they forget Kevin and he is a lightning rod for their anger. So, of course, Kevin's mental issues give him no problem when it comes to torturing criminals with crazy contraptions.
