At 50yo, I've learned the following works for me: Nutrition - beef, eggs, cheese, and romaine lettuce. Fasting - cyclic between 16 and 30 hours Exercise - minimum 12 miles on echo bike and total body weight training daily. Sleep - what I can get. I've always struggled with sleep apnea.
When the interviewer talks, and talks, and talks at the start of the video, I lose interest and patience. I then read the comments to see if I get the main points.
I'm 60 years old and I have been eating like you say for 20 years. I've been doing intermittent fasting for 4 years, keto diet and only whole foods. No sugar. My blood pressure is back to normal and I feel good, but I am still about 15 kg overweight. I lost quite a bit about 4 years ago when I started keto, but slowly my body went back to this weight that it seems to prefer. I don't get much sleep- about4-5 hours per night, with an hour nap during the day. Can you advise?
@Eclaire_mozsa My job requires pretty strenuous exercise, but otherwise I don't do an exercise programme. I'll look into that, thanks. And I'll check out that website too. Thank you.
Try Dr Berg YT channel too. He speaks a lot about IF and keto. Seems like you have hit platou. Your body is smart. You need to swirh things up. If you do IF for 12h now maybe you should do 14h. Also. Not sleeping does affect the weight loss or lack there of. You should try to get more sleep. I'm 42 and I have been going to bed by 11pm latest and I'm up between 5 or 6am for 15 years now. I understand people have their jobs and schedule but try to adjust to your lifestyle. If you drink coffee. Try to have the last cup by noon. In any case. I'd try Dr Berg channel. Cheers.
You mention broccoli sprouts but not other sprouts. I have been sprouting lentils, chick peas and other legumes for years. Are the broccoli sprouts so superior to the others? By the way, I am strictly plant based.
Broccoli sprouts contain very high levels of sulforaphane, a nutrient that possesses anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties, much more than broccoli.
I’d love for you to specifically address how a person who’s career requires nocturnal work the so called “night shift” workers. Is there a different routine to apply to get the same 12 hours of fasting. Is reverse circadian more challenging for weight loss? What do you recommend for persons who work say 7p to 7am?
I began to try IF from 2017 on. It took some time but WHAT you eat can help it be easier. Eating less processed package foods and eating while foods and lower carb makes CRAVINGS much less. So: protein+ non starchy veggies+ half an avocado or a few olives or few nuts. Each meal. No snacking between. Keep the mind & hands busy and live your life and it all gets easier with practice:).
Wait - it takes 5 or so hours for the stomach to fully empty - why would the body TAP into FAT stores IF there is food in the stomach? I factor in 5 hours after my last meal before I start my over night fast. As an example - last intake 1800. Factor in 5 hours, so my starting fasting time would be 2300. Next kcal intake 1100 - true 12 hour fast not 18 hours as most would calculate it.
@@YeaBuDDy840 Those that carry out research - so I have been told, use that method as you have outlined, But I prefer to factor in that 5 hours before I start my fasting clock, Cheers for the comment.
@@felipearbustopotd What I have been doing unintentionally for a month now. I eat between 4pm and 10 pm and have started walking with the dogs after eating and in the morning. Figured if they have to go outside I should to and walk laps around the yard.
@@felipearbustopotd I wake about 7am to 9am always in that range. Bathroom routine, bottle of water, stretch, couple sets of squats and halos with a kettlebell. After that I'll have a cup of black coffee. Takes about 90 minutes. Than dogs go outside, since they can't all go out together it takes about hour to get them out. So I walk and it around 7k steps when all done. Then work day starts and I'll eat at 4pm. Food wise just basic whole foods and water. Don't count calories, just track protein and fiber. I like to cook so fast food and processed food was pretty easy to cut out. I'm 38 6'3 220 lbs, lost 15 lbs so far doing this and it feels like it's maintainable habits I can keep life long.
How on God's green earth do you manage fatigue and energy levels doing the job I do. I start work between 1am - 5am. It starts with a lot of physical activity then requires sustained focus with a lot of inactivity. I try to get to bed between 6-8pm but my sleep is 99% of the time disturbed. I am a single Dad with a 15 year old daughter. I have tried going to the gym before work starts, after work or after a midday sleep. Also do 4km walk 3 times a week. The midday sleep of 1-2 hours tends to work best. My weight hovers around 110kg for the last 25 years. BP just keeps climbing regardless of eating healthy, exercise, zero alcohol drugs smoking etc. Dr just showed I have just started entering insulin resistance and cholesterol has just entered levels it needs monitoring.
Your routine is not structured, sounds like you go with the flow. Perhaps your work schedule is the reason, but try to make your day count, instead of chasing the day. Look at what foods you buy, how you cook, how much and when you eat. Going to the gym is not always necessary, if you do the manual work. You need to sleep for longer. You have a teenage daughter, and that has the potential to make life difficult a bit. Have a word with her to establish some routine and help from her to run the household.
Carrying 110kg on your frame is the reason why you're so fatigued. You are obviously need to change your eating habits and the foods that you eat. Cut out all sugars and processed foods to begin with. Eat only fruit and vegetables, and build up your fasting hours. You have enough stored energy and calories to enable you to fast safely for months.
My grandmother told us to eat a rainbow every 24 hour period and you will get what you need. She also always ate between 8 am and 6 pm. She lived into her 80's and never gained more than 20 lbs over her entire adult life.
Are you aware of how a person that cannot stand up, or use her arms, can maintain optimum health? She's following a longevity lifestyle (sleep, vegan, fasting, no stress) but is that enough.
Most of the lectins are in the skin and the seeds. You could blanch the tomatoes in boiling water for a few minutes. Then remove them and run them under cold water. The skin will come right off. Then you can cut them open and remove the seeds. Some relatives used to make home made tomato juice and they would strain out the seeds but you could just scrape as many seed out as you can. This removes most of the lectins. If you are going to cook the tomatoes anyway you won’t be too worried about the loss of firmness of the fruit.
