    Hey Classy, I just wanted to say that AI picture pro shows a substantial difference when using internal apps, especially in SDR, on my C2 at least. The changes it makes to the image is immediately obvious. Like night and day. I have no issue seeing what it’s doing. So idk why you “Never see a difference, or it doing much”. I truly have no idea why this is lol, but I’m guessing bc you probably haven’t spent a ton of time testing content via internal apps? Just swinging at air here. Anyways, I still see a difference with HDMI sources, but it doesn’t employ nearly as much localized gamma manipulation and processing. (I actually prefer this)
    LG is deploying localized gamma manipulation to try and make the image more dynamic, add depth, detail, and sharpness. It also seems to deploy slight noise reduction, dithering to improve gradation…despite if you having the smooth gradation disabled…and obviously they’re using their AI upscaling algorithm, too. Using AI PP will actually darken shadow details and some midtones, where it see’s fit, and boost luminance up top. It’s almost like local dimming on a OLED 😅 I personally can’t stand it majority of the time tho, especially in SDR, as the image is way over-processed to my eyes, despite the amazing depth it can produce at times. It’s just not for me tho, as a purist type of guy. The HDR effect it has is much less obvious, but it still does the same thing, it just doesn’t darken the midtones and low stimulus nearly as much as it does in SDR, which makes sense to me.
    I can always make a video showing these changes the AI PP makes on my C2, to show you what I’m talking about, in case you’ve never experienced this behavior….maybe there’s just a bug in the newer models tho, as this year has seemingly been littered with FW issues, unfortunately. LG really is letting ppl down this year with these issues, and lack of polish. It’s almost like they should’ve delayed the launch, but chose to rush it.
    Lastly, AI PP does actually work on copyrighted content, as long as it knows you have access to watch said service/content legally, like onNetflix, D+, etc. idk if you said this or not, bc I just caught the end of what you were saying about the feature and the confusion. I really wish LG would clarify this in the menu a bit better, but it is what it is.

    This video nailed it for me, this gave me great pointers for dark and bright room settings, thanks! Everyone says Warm 50 is the way to go for authenticity, but I've tried, anything beyond Warm 20 just seems too brown to me, so I've kept it at 20.

      @@pizzatime2001Same. I used to prefer a cool image back in the CRT days, but now cool temp looks disgusting. Once I got used to warm temp I can’t go back. Warm 50 is the most natural looking to me.

      @kylemoo with all due respect, it's not the playback speed issue. It's the voice narration matching the actions. I was giving a tip to make his videos better, not to say it's bad, because it isn't. Also, what's the point of having a video if you suggest to listen to voice only? Might as well listen to a podcast then. There's a purpose of having visual presentation in addition to audio presentation. It's to provide effective presentation.

    • @Vokon
      @Vokon Год назад

      @@ClassyTechCalibrations Yes but there are some differences. So if i can ask those questions that would be great.
      On your G2 Video. In SDR Dark. You set it to 40 OLED Pixel Brightness. Samething with the G3. But with the C2 Its not as bright as the G2 or G3. So isn't it supposed to be around 60? Same with the C3?
      Also in the SDR Bright. Is it supposed to be 80 also on C2 or C3? or is it supposed to be lower due to G2 and G3 being brighter TV's? Because on the G2 you kept it as 80. While on the G3 you had it on max 100.
      Also on your G3 video you had Color Depth as 55. While on the C2 its 50. Should C2 stay 50? Or should i change it to 55 like the C3?
      Also in this video. In SDR Dark. You changed the Method to 22 Points Signal Level(%). And change the Signal Level(%) to 2.5. And Adjust Brightness level at the selected signal level(%) to 5.
      And with SDR Bright you did the exact same but changed Adjust Brightness level at selected signal level(%) from 5 to 3.
      So what im asking am I supposed to do that samething for the C2? or is this only for C3?
      Also when it comes to SDR gaming. On the G3/C3 you set the Gamma to BT.1886. While on the G2/C2. You have it on Gamma 2.2. Isn't it supposed to be BT.1866? Can you please tell me which is the correct one for the C2?
      Also on the SDR Gaming. In the G3/C3. You Also set the Method to 22 Points Signal Level(%). And change the Signal Level(%) to 2.5. And Adjust Brightness level at the selected signal level(%) to 5. So am i supposed to do the same with C2 or not?
      Also one last thing. In terms of game HDR Sliders. Since im on a C2. And not a G2 or G3. What am I supposed to set the nit value at? You said 1500 for the G3. But what am i supposed to do for the C2?
      I really hope you answer all my questions. I love your videos. You are the only one i follow for settings.

    • @ClassyTechCalibrations
      @ClassyTechCalibrations  Год назад

      @@Vokon the C2 is different than the G3, which is why I said I had a video for the C2.
      In SDR brightness and gamma depends on your room and is subjective. 35-40 OLED brightness on most LGs is about the same as 10-20 on the G3. So it doesn't apply to those.
      SDR gamma also depends on the room. Bt1886 is darker than 2.2 but has more color saturation. Use what works for your room.

    • @Vokon
      @Vokon Год назад

      @@ClassyTechCalibrations Gotcha Gotcha. So I guess in terms of brightness Ill probably stick to around 60 or more. I dont think i can ever watch a Movie or play a game with below 60 brightness haha.
      In terms of the Signal level settings though. You are saying that i shouldn't change them on the C2? Because while I think you are the best in terms of setting videos. I got this person's video recommended to me. And he happens to do the exact same Level settings as yours. Which is 22 Points Signal Level(%). And change the Signal Level(%) to 2.5. And Adjust Brightness level at the selected signal level(%) to 5.
      So is he like technically correct or should i just stay with the same settings you had for the C2/G2 video?
      Also in terms of Gamma. I do usually game in a really really dark room. Mostly pitch black. So i guess ill stick with BT.1886.

      I'm not an expert but read something about it on the internet and if I got this right it's like that:
      This option allows you to adjust brigthness and colors tints(?) at 22 levels of brightness. So the change from 100% to 2,5% is not any changed setting. For every signal level you can make changes in brightness and red green blue. The guy in video only changed brightness to +5 at 2,5% signal level and left settings at other 21 signal levels unchanged. The purpose was probably to make the darkest elements a little bit brighter to see more details in dark areas.
      I hope what I wrote is understandable :D

    You leave sharpness in all these modes at 10? Isn't 0 supposed to be "no added sharpness" ? Wouldn't it be inaccurate at 10? Or is 10 supposed to be neutral?

    • @ClassyTechCalibrations
      @ClassyTechCalibrations  4 месяца назад

      0-10 is the same with native 4k signal. With lower resolution 10 will have a mild effect of smoothing edges like an AA effect. It's up to you if you want that or not.

    Thanks Classy for the video guide. Do you know if lg is aware of the color desaturation when switching to game mode? Or is it something you noticed?A little annoyed they are sacrificing picture for latency.

    Im coming from a Pioneer Kuro plasma and found the G2 65” already too bright for me. I ended up returning it as my viewing distance is 10ft and wanted the 77” G2 instead. G2 77” in my region has just dropped from 3500€ to 3000€. Would love the 77” G3 but its out of my budget. Is 3000€ going to be cheapest its going to get for the 77” G2 or is it worth waiting a fews months for the G3 to become more “affordable”?

    Hey man. I used to have the C9 and was able to compare it to the S95B that I now have. While brightness wise S95B easily won that, I did thing the picture quality (how crisp a game looks) on the C9. Would you agree that's the case here too? Also, HDR games wise, specular highlights such as sun, fire effects, I assume that's still significantly better on Samsung QD-OLED?

    I'm confused about the description of HDR settings on PS5. Like, the whole 18 clicks. Which ones do you need to actually count, and which do you just go all the way in one direction until it's white/black?

    Hey, I have 3 questions for you :)
    Are these settings sufficient so there is no need for real calibration?
    I also want to know is the settigns take care of the durability of the TV, and are not too much "pushed"?
    They are Cinema oriented or can be good (or very good) for sports?
    Thanks

    Hello classy I have a question I am hoping you could help me with. I have an LG C3 and when I play a game if the video range is on auto the picture seems a little washed. If I changed the video range to limited that seems to correct the washed out colors but it will crush blacks. I play in SDR and I play on PS5. I am hoping you can help me with the crushed blacks as I tend to favor the video range in limited. Unless you have tips for deeper blacks with the auto range.

      It is not always recommended. In fact another YT calibrator recommends not using it and going FMM-ALLM-DTM:On since the lag between game optimizer on/off is not really noticeable. He points out that DTM on the 2023 sets is much better/accurate than it was in years past.

    I’m kinda confused on the PS5 set up. In the LG G3 thread on AVS Forums you stated game mode isn’t accurate but in this video I think that’s how you set up HGIG? “Game mode is much further from luminance targets than FMM, it’s less accurate.” Can you clarify this?

    I know Dynamic Tone Mapping isn't accurate but I don't think having it off is accurate either. I'm watching Shogun and all of the dark scenes the blacks are completely crushed. I have my iPhone 12 pro watching the same scene and there is so much more detail on the iphone than the C3. It's almost like half the image is missing on the C3. When I turn on Dynamic Tone Mapping a lot of that crushed detail in dark scenes comes back but bright scenes are blown out.
    I wonder if LG keeps Dynamic Tone Mapping on by default because they know that without it dark scenes are unwatchable?
