After years of incremental upgrades, LG 2023 OLED Series dramatically improved upon previous years' models, especially with G3 and its brand new MLA panel.
Luminance is much higher, ABL is much more relaxed, TPC & GSR got fixed, all presets and processing got revamped, accuracy OOTB has never been so good so all my previous Optimized Settings needed to be renewed (especially for gaming).
You can setup everything you need for both SDR / HDR / DV for both Movies & Gaming (including Console setup and in-game HDR demonstrations and settings) in just under 1 hour ;)

Amazing settings dude!!! Thank you very much. Was looking for you for weeks.
Absolutely incredible. Thanks
Amazing work! Just started up Spiderman remastered on PS5 and your HDR gaming settings compared to HDR HGIG are so much better and everything is really popping on the G3!!

@@techoptimizedis Dynamic Color Boosting something we enable in Filmmaker mode or is it just automatic?
Hello. I have a G3 but after I make all the same settings from ur video it feels like much more brown or should I say darker overall? Even on SDR is this the best sharp option? Feels brown or something like that
Yes, I have overall the same problem. Its the temp that makes the tv dirthy look, but its there anyways. Maybe it is a bad screen? Posted a question velow. Do you have a c3, size? Maybe it has to do with Primevideo, Netflix. You tube is better.
With the cinema or filmmaker model it’s always been greenish or just too dim.
Did you ever find the answer?
Personally I prefer 65-67 colour vibrancy, 95-100 contrast and warm/cold 0, I can't understand the industry, real life doesn't look like film maker mode
I just got my G3, and used your settings. Looks amazing, thanks.

Great settings recomendations. I just got a new C4 and set it up using all your recommendations. Besides using warm 35 as color temp, everything else worked very well. I hope you could do a new similar video for the 2024 LG OLED lineup.
The updated settings in the description also cover LG 2024 OLEDs... ;)

P4OLO i wanted to thank you for everything, you always try to help me even when i ask too many questions. Thank you❤️
Thank you for this fantastic video! Do you have any resources about how to take the best care of the oled panel to avoid burn ins and other types of problems?
This is so helpful!!!!!!
Best picture I have achieved on the G3 and the gaming settings produced excellent outcomes. Thankyou
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much - helped me get started with my C3 - what settings do you like using for HD live sports streams (daytime watching ) ?
Just want to thank you for your very detailed settings. I have just purchased the Lgc4 and this was so helpful. I play alot of video games and lets just say the game optimizer settings were terrible. Im coming over from an lgc1 and my lgc1 looked way better and performed better than the c4. Until i found your video. For someone who has researched a lot of picture settings, yours kind sir is the best!!!!
Hi! Thank you so much for that video. It helped me configure my Lg G3. I just had a question: I'm using a Nvidia Shield Pro to watch UHD movies, should I use the Xbox PC settings?
Thanks
Great video! Which has better black levels? C3 or G3? I have the a95k and they are not as good as I expected.
Would you mind sharing the precise ways in which your settings should be adapted for dark room viewing when one finds the brightness too hard on the eyes?
I assume for DV that you should simply use the cinema preset rather than cinema home - anything else to change there?
For HDR, I saw one reply of yours to disable DTM and another that said to adjust a brightness setting. Could you clarify which of these settings, or any others, should be changed?
Basically, I just want to maintain as much of your reference settings optimization as possible while reducing eye strain for dark room viewing.
Thank you for the excellent work.
Hi, thanks for your guide :) What settings do you suggest to watch football? The Filmmaker mode is too faded and sport mode is too saturated.
thanks for this, very useful settings, i just bought 65'' b3 but two days later i found c2 65'' in the same price, is it a big difference?
Thanks you amazing video, do you have any settings for sports viewing?
Me again I reset my tv and finely got you dolby vision to come up in the picture cinema setting. I think the was a ai setting running in the background before . Thanks darrell

Thanks! Awesome guide, I don’t know what you meant though about the luminance in Halo Infinite in the end, I would have liked it if you showed it 😅
Hello, thank you for your settings!
on the other hand the image on my g3 with the ps5 is brighter in games mode than in filmmaker mode
That's not possible, so maybe double check your settings?
@@techoptimized the ps5 is connected to my amp in hdmi 2.0, so no rgb. Could that be it?
Comunque bel video, grazie👍🏼
This seems extremely helpful! My LG C3 55 is arriving tomorrow. What settings, if any other than yours, do you suggest I optimize using Disney's SDR Blu-ray calibration disc (WOW)?
Got all your settings up and running and the G3 looks effing amazing! It pops so much more than my CX (which is an amazing viewing experience as well)
Another question though please. Have you got any links or additional information on why it is safe to turn Screen Shift and Logo luminance off on the G3. I'm keen to try it, but those features are on for a reason right?
You can find all my reasonings here: www.patreon.com/posts/lg-2023-oleds-82545589
Basically with TPC & GSR finally fixed by LG on 2023 series, those extra burn in preventing measures are actually not needed anymore.

Thanks for this. Skipped all the HDR stuff since I just watch SDR content on my FireStick. Not sure about the whole Warm 40 though, surely just leave at 0 and have the default intended colour?
The intended color temp by content creators is Warm 50
This video is awesome. Thank you. I’d say better than Rtings and others out there for the LG C3 this year in 2024!
For the latest settings (and their explaination) see the chart linked in the description
@@techoptimized Oh thank you, didn't realise there were some updates! can you please let me know if dynamic tone mapping is best to be left on? I bought a Panasonic UB820 for 4k blurays and don't know if I should use the hdr optimiser or disable it on the player and let the tv do it? I'm starting to think the c3 is better at this than the hcx processor in the player?
Hola amigo.
Fantastic Job😊
Ai sound pro on? Interesting.. On while using lg soundbar aswell? Ive tried it few times and imo it sounds worse than Standard mode. Also whats ur thoughts about LG's WoW Orchestra? Thanks for the great settings. :)
Hi, this is mightily impressive work. Thank you so much! I gather that this video contains some outdated info because of firmware updates, but that the linked guide (updated 30th of October 2023) is the most recent version to apply to our 2023 OLEDs right? Am I also correct in assuming that these settings are meant for ideal circumstances i.e. a pitch black room? Thanks again!
Yes, the link in the description always has the most recent settings and yes, those settings are geared toward a dark/dim room.
This is a really insightful, thought out and helpful video, thank you!
I just upgraded my CX to the G3 and I'm keen to try your settings.
On the CX, i was always so torn between HGIG and DTM. DTM gave me the daytime bright room gaming i wanted, but HGIG felt better generally. It really depended on the game though.
Sound like the G3's implementstion of DTM comes with no trade off.
Question on using the PS5. You say +25 clicks for the HDR configuration. Are we not simply looking for when the sun icon dissappears?
It will disappear at 4.000 nits (+25 clicks) with FMM with both DTM: Off and DTM: On ;)
I've been working through your settings and so far they look great. With DTM on whist watching a HDR movie on Amazon Prime, I'm sure I sure I saw the screen actively dim during a brighter part of the movie. Is that to be expected with this year's implementation of DTM?
@@DonVitoCorleone2085 That's the TV normal ABL which will work like that in some occasions. Anyway, for movies use HDR Cinema preset with DTM: On (and same settings), not FMM. Read my update in the description for more info.

hello, you advised setting the black level on G3 to 48 to compensate for the DTM, but I see that now you recommend 49 instead, I would like to know why? because 48 comes really close to 50 perfectly in game optimizer mode with HGIG enabled
i noticed that in the day time blacks look crushed very dim but at night it’s perfect, should i switch on AI brightness or should i calibrate my 3rd step in PS5 HDR in the day time ?until it’s barely visible? What are your recommendations
Hi anything to think of when using the latest Apple TV 4k.? Loking at regular sdr tv and sports. And some 4k Netflix and HBO and Disney plus.
I love it all, thank you! One problem: for apple tv what settings to use? Filmmaker mode is not an option. I used Cinema Home and copied the WebOS HDR settings but aren't entirely sure it's optimal.
Yes, use the same settings suggested for webOS SDR/HDR/DV
Hey bro! First of all thank you so much for such wonderful settings! the display looks flawless. I have a question. So I have a macbook air m1 and the LG C3 48^ OLED. I have been trying since so many days to get 120hz on the TV when connected to the mac via HDMI 2.1 to C. The cable does support 120hz at 4k but no setting is working out for me. I'm simple stuck at 60hz. It has to be some setting in TV itself. I have the samsung odyssey oled as well and I always get the 120HZ on it once I turn off the game mode. Could you please help me out. I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!
@techoptimized.
For WebOS app streaming (Hulu Live, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc) is there a difference if I use ISF Dark Room and ISF Bright Room instead of Film Maker Mode (FMM) for SDR viewing?
Thank you for the great information
Just bought my LG C3 42" and was looking for some hints on calibration to use it as a monitor. In fact, I'm using it as the main monitor for a Mac Studio. Everybody thinks 120Hz is great for gaming, but it's great for the work environment too. Hope you will consider producing a new video specifically for that use. There are a couple of other videos about that on YT, but none of them is as clear and comprehensive as yours. There are hundreds of Mac/PC users interested in this and there's a big thread on Reddit so interest is there. Please help us :)
Nice video!
I have a C3 and for me DTM with game mode looks better instead with FMM.
With FMM, the Suns are looking like a big orange ball without any transition.
With DTM ON with game mode, the Suns are looking better with transitions.
I would like to use FMM + DTM On but the suns in video games bother me.
I used the latest settings from your Patreon page.
Thanks for the video really easy to follow movies and my xbox know look fantastic on my LG c4, thanks for al the work that has gone into this. I noticed some very minor differences between the spreadsheet and the video , which one is the best to set . As an exmple for hdr movies in the video we use filmaker mode and a black level of 48 but in the sheet it says hdr cinema mode and black level of 49. I dont think I would notice any difference and all set same as video, but just curious if video or excel is most accurate. Video worked absolutly fine for me on c4 . apart for one or two setting that is greyed out and for life of me could not seem to work out what changes it ! I will run throught the video again !! I used an SD tv channel (playing some 80's progarmme !!) rather than an SD netflix title, as was unsure what programmes on netflix are sd, so maybe I should use an netflix one next time. Thanks for all the hard work.
Can this video be used for calibrating settings for the C2?
Thanks so much for such a useful and concise guide. Everything seems to be working perfectly most of the time using my LG G3 connected to a nvidia shield and xbox series x. However sometiems when connecting to my xbox the display is only showing up as 480p, I have to do mulitple restarts and power offs and eventually, it seems to fix this issue. I dont suppose you're aware of a glitch causing this reccuring issue ? Thanks again for such a useful guide
I'm aware of the issue, but it never happened to me. Maybe try setting XSX to fully shutdown when powered off and not leave it in fast boot.
@techoptimized thanks for the prompt response! Sadly I have tried this with no luck. Luckily the issue is very intermittent and only seems to happen now and again.
Nice!
I am using c1 48" for my pc and ps5 (at my desk, so close distance).
I've been thinking about retiring it to living room and getting c3. I could get 48" again or maybe 42"... hmm hard to decide. Is the 42" as dim as c2 42" was? It's still wbe woled right?
I have tpc and gsr disabled of course
C3 is brighter and TPC/GSR were fixed so you don't need to disable them anymore (risking to void your warranty)
Ciao Paolo!
Grazie
L'upscaling del G3 è più che sufficiente
@@techoptimized grazie!
Excellent video sir. What about pc setting for lg C3 hdr on? I didn’t see anything about this.
Just use Xbox settings for the TV and then on PC follow this guide: www.patreon.com/posts/88124101
I really don't understand why all, but all, choose Warm 50 level, as long as, this setup gives a general yellowish color.
Sky is yellow, subtitle is yellow, snow is yellow, everything has a yellow nuance.
These are the real colors of everything that surrounds us??? in yellowish?
I look around me, I look outside, on street, in nature, but I don't see the things being such yellowish as they are on the Tv screen with this "Warm 50" setted.
Great Vid Ty Paolo, hey if you're throwing the TV away at some point I'll have it

So even for PC should I change the icon to game console or is it fine for a PC?
Thank you very much for the video . One question: in gaming mode, in the game settings when increasing the black level or white or sharpness stabilizer can cause more lag when playing? Another question, if in games like Halo or FIFA that work with Dolbi Vision, when you deactivate Dolbi Vision with the console, they work with HDR, could this also cause lag?
Dolby vision increase input lag in game
Could you please tell me how to calibrate the HDR in the ps5 settings for LG C3 plz ?❤
Great configuration walkthrough video. I just got a G4, would the same settings as the G3 work?
Yes
@@techoptimized thanks! in your opinion, do you believe burn-in is possible with SDR /PC input at 85 pixel brightness and all protection features turned off when working daily on dark mode in in Windows on all productivity programs (browser, mail, word etc) or best is to drop the pixel brightness to 50 in that case?
on windows 11 while using dynamic tone mapping on , my values on hdr calibration tool should be 0/800/800 right? i have lg c34 77inch oled. i can boost the value up to 2800 .(and on 2200 value i see all white)
How does using an Apple TV 4K affect these settings? I noticed when streaming through an AppleTV 4K, Filmmaker mode is not available due to the Dolby Vision
Hi! I found that on lg c2 dtm of cinema is better then game optimiser, you can clearly see better highlights , what is your opinion? Really want to hear your opinion, love your content ❤️
It's a bit better but you can't use it with the same low input lag there. You need a 2023 model with ALLM + FMM + DTM
Hi P4OlO, so i was testing all day system level calibration games. I wanted to ask you. Why the more peak brightness(clicks) you set in system level calibration the more picture gets darker , I don’t mean in brightness but in black level (kind of). For example: In Spider Man 2 when i set 1000 nits 15 clicks the sky’s clouds are not dark , they have different colour and night scenes are dark but not as dark as in when i set 4000 nits. And i am not talking about clipping highlights, just the picture kind of goes darker 🤷🏼. Also i tested hgig and dtm all day. When i set 1000 nits it looks like hgig but brighter not talking about clipping. When i set 4000 nits the picture is darker in night scenes and i mean black level.
So the main point is that the more i set the darker picture gets , if i set 10000 nits it’s darker than 4000 nits and i am saying not brightness but overall picture. Like I don’t know how to explain but t for example there is a lamp and around the lamp( outside the lamp) gets darker the more you set in system level calibration. What is the reason behind it. Thank you P4OLO i hope you read this
I just setup my G3 and I went straight to this video after watching it before. I "liked it" so I could find it later. My tv picture looks amazing! I have never seen a screen like that in my home. When I compare the out of book screen to what it is now after these changes it is night and day. Even my wife walked in and said, "I feel like I'm there." Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I really appreciate it. You should add your payment processor information and take donations. I do have a quick question, are these settings also best for a Roku UHD streaming stick?
Thanks! If you want to support my work, have a look at my Patreon page in the description (you'll find a lot more there too).
About the Roku: yes, you can just use the same settings of webOS SDR/HDR/DV for it. ;)

Buonasera Paulo😁 What settings do you recommend me if I want the sharpest, cleanest picture. I don’t care about input but I want the best quality. Because many games in performance mode are looking blurry. Thank you Paulo😊
How is QuickStart+ different than always ready? Both seem to affect standby
Love your work! Any updates on C3 since 10/30/2023?? Couple updates happened since then, just wondering.
Nope, same suggestions still apply :)
Mind giving us a quick run down on how to setup Nintendo Switch as well... help! 😬
When just using a PC in Filmmaker mode and then going into Game Optimizer, I show low latency off, it doesn't seem to force into ON like you have here with the Xbox. Any work around for this?
Hey I just checked out the updated version on your patreon and was just wondering if it's still necessary to put -4 in the dark tune. Thank you!
Yes
Hi, first time OLED owner here. Followed your video (plus updates). I was just wondering if I'm still better off with DTM + - 4 FTBL, or should I move back to optimizer picture mode with HGIG? I haven't noticed any input delay, and I'm more of a set it and leave it kind of person. Thank you.
What’s the best trumotion tuning for gaming ? De-Judder and De-Blur
If I don’t own a blue ray player do I need to worry about setting up the hdr mode or Dolby vision? Cause I don’t know how I can get them to show up. When I turn on my ps5 game mode turns on. So I don’t know what else I can do to get it to switch to hdr mode, or dolby
Love your settings thanks very much! only issue i have now is game optimizer menu doesnt come up when i press settings, all settings show instead, so i move down to game optimizer to open it manually
You need to also set the audio preset for internal speakers to "Game Optimizer" to preserve low latency and the Game Optimizer menu when pushing the Settings button.
@@techoptimized brilliant, solved my issue, it wont be annoying anymore, a million thanks!!!

Help me out so much but I notice Xbox has more settings on this tv than PlayStation but the settings I was able to use helped me out so much took my lag away thank you man
Thank you. But what about the settings using pc with C3 as a gaming monitor for both work and hdr gaming?
Same as Xbox, then set PC Control Panel to 4:4:4 chroma, Limited Color Space and 12-bit Color Depth.
Do you mean Nvidia Control Panel > Display >
Desktop Color Depth - 32 bit, Output Color Depth - 12 bpc, Output color format - YCBcr444? and Output dynamic Range - Limited.
Mine is YCbCr422. I can't change it to YCBcr444, no matter what I do it reverts back to YCBCr422.
I'm using HDMI Cable 2.0 from tv to PC, my graphics card is 1660 ti and it supports displayport 1.4 or HDMI 2.0.
Please guide which would be the best setting YCBcr422 or something else? Thanks! @@techoptimized
@@iamsurajsharma You're being limited by the HDMI 2.0 bandwidth so, yeah, you must stick with 4:2:2
I have c3. With you setting for hdr/sdr gaming on ps 5, what value will be imput lag? Thank you. Sorry for my english:)
Hi great video first time watching one of your video's. I got my g3 77" 2 days. I was using this to try and figure out my settings since this is my first lg tv. But my tv isn't showing some of the settings that you were showing. I will try and make a note of witch ones. After I did the hdr set. I switched over to a dolby vision hdr demo to to the dolby setup. But mine only shows hdr select mode- cinema home ( user settings) . We're as yours shows the dolby mode? I saved it there to start the game one later. Darrell

Hi there, great video. For the c3 42, I want to use it for gaming purposes. I see mixed reviews, do I need to change anything in the service menu?
No

Should i follow this video or the chart from your resetera post, in case of differences? (E.g. sdr movies you say 2.2 in the chart and here you dont)
Whilst in settings for Dolby Vision the Video Range setting is locked to ‘Auto’
Any idea how I can change this to ‘Limited’ as suggested in the video?
I have LG C3
Hi again!! What about for hdr gaming with adjustable hdr white point? For c3 do I do 800 nits or since I'm using your settings do I use 4000 nits?
800 nits if you use HGIG, otherwise 4.000
Hi, thank you for the help with the settings for my G3, just a quick question, so the way you put FMM + ALLM creates no added input lag at all?
No, same low input lag as Game Optimizer preset.

Thanks for the guide. Much appreciated.
One question.
When using SDR settings for game consoles, should it be in ‘Game Optimizer’ or ‘Filmmaker’?
I’ve found that for Switch and PS4 on the C3 model, filmmaker doesn’t allow ALLM to be on, as it seems Game Optimizer needs to be selected for that to function.
Also, in Game Optimizer, Just Scan is greyed out in the aspect ratio select, and set to Auto. Your guide says turn it on, but is Auto considered on for these consoles?
I assume this is because the Switch and PS4 handle screen borders via their own settings, that allow you to set the limit?
Use FMM + ALLM (and/or VRR) also for SDR on PS5, Xbox and PC.
On Switch, yeah, you can stick to Game preset or enable PC Mode + FMM.
Just scan greyed out on Auto should be ok but you can force it to On via ColorControl app on PC.
Okay, thanks for the clarification. I only use a Switch and PS4, so was wondering why FMM locks me out of certain settings when using them. I guess it’s because they’re only 1080p max.
@@Richard7481 PS4 also doesn't support ALLM and VRR, so it should be the same as switch to configure
Without access to colorcontrol, should I still be using DTM over HGIG, some games look better with dtm(genshin, Honkai etc) but idk about Alan wake or death stranding
