"Most accurate" does not necessarily mean best. I would select Native colour gamut for all content, and enable Dynamic tone mapping and Expression enhancer Brightness for most HDR content. You can adjust OLED pixel brightness depending on ambient light level too.
Thanks for the video, but i am not capable of setting Dolby mode, all video i selected from prime video or disney plus, even though they show the dolby atmos logo, when i go into setting, i can't select dolby. Thanks for help
I have just went through this to check my out of the box set up ,SDR no problem but HDR from RUclips and Dolby vision from Netflix on both the aspect ratio was on original and greyed out and not able to select it ?
16:9 = forcing the source signal to 16:9 aspect ratio. ORIGINAL = passthrough the source signal aspect ratio. ON = just 1:1 pixel perfect. It will NOT cut off 2,5% at the borders.
Hi thanks for this, just wondeirng how you bring up the HDR and dolby vision specific settings. I just get the standard settings each time. Im using PS5 and 4k/HDR/Dolby supported disc, all settings enabled on both the TV and console, but still no specific setting menu.
They'll only activate when you play content in HDR and Dolby Vision respectively. As Phil said in the video, play one of those formats through a 4k disc or Netflix Premium /Amazon Prime / Disney and then you'll be able to tweak the picture settngs for UHD once HDR or DV content is playing. You can't change the settings for those modes unless you're playing the specific format on your screen.
Issue with the Panasonic ub820 and G3 with Dolby vision. The TV info is not pulling through 4:4:4. Apparently this is a known issue with Dolby vision as its player lead rather than TV lead. My settings are all correct on the player for 4:4:4 chroma.
I bought the C3 two weeks ago. Love the picture. I'm on my second one. First one was "open box". This one is new. The sound increases, decreases by itself very loud to very soft. Happens with or without Roku. I tried new Roku. I increased my internet speeds. Called tech 4 times. Ive reset everything many times. I turn off settings. I turn them on. New cables. It's going back tomorrow . Any suggestions to fix it ???????? Is this a common issue?
If it's too dark or too bright for the room, yeah. Technically, the default brightness might be most accurate to developer intentions but that doesn't mean it will look best.
did you notice any green tint ? I see some people complain about it and it's true that when you watch content in light back and white, or with bright cloud, or bright snow, it look really green
Even I have noticed a green tint in the corners. specially when the screen is grey or white. Like youtube home screen. Did you get any resolution for this?
I tried the settings and I’m viewing in a dark room, yet the pictures seems dim. The only setting that somewhat works is vivid. Just seems strange g3 77”
Good morning, I have exactly the same problem as you with the Dolby Vision which is much too dark in cinema and home cinema mode, I use the vivid mode which is much better, I hope LG will correct that.
I think these people are forgetting to turn off the energy saving mode because I have the 77 inch G3 and it’s bright as could be, too bright that I would almost want to bring down the brightness.
@@avforums there have been reports that the g3 shows certain scenes where white is more prevalent to be more towards a green tint not sure if it’s panel issue or out of the box colors
Can you please share link to that ClassyTech video? I also see a greenish tint, specially in the corners when the screen is fully grey or white on my 55” G3
Hello, i was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue with Dolby Vision. I used the settings given here. They look a bit too dark. I was watching Midnight Mass on Netflix, to be exact: episode 3 at minute 51:50 when the sheriff runs off the lamp and jumps because he saw something out the window. I didn’t see a thing! So I tried using another picture mode. Vivid. And I could see the face of what scared him. I tried to make higher the black level and at some point you see the face in the window but to my idea, the picture overal looses quality. Any idea what I could do? Thanks!
Hello, I have exactly the same problem as you with the Dolby Vision which is much too dark in cinema and home cinema mode, I use the vivid mode which is much better, I hope LG will correct that.
Vivid mode should not be used under any circumstances, bless you want grass which looks fluorescent. The settings are correct - the TV is in it's element during darker room viewing. You will get used to it over time and vivid will look horribly wrong once you've trained your eyes.
I agree vivid should not be used, but I have not seen an answer as to why the face cannot be seen in the window, if the G3 is as good as everyone says...and I have it.
Same issue. The TV all together is too dark and doesn't do blacks correctly. There is no middle ground for blacks at all. Anything on screen that even remotely resembles black/dark gets completely blacked out and treated the same as stuff that should truly be black. It makes people with dark hair look like they have a void on the top of their head. A person's hair should not be the same as the blacked out aspect ratio borders.
Im kind of glad I’m not the only one with this issue. I watched @QUANTUM TV’s channel here on RUclips (maybe worth checking) and there he advices to change your modus to SDR in general. That means that HDR material as well as Dolby Vision material is viewed through SDR modus. I did this and to be honest. I’m quite happy o did because you do get a brighter image with details. Blacks and whites etc. I think it’s kind of a shame we don’t let the different modus kick in. But if you want a nice picture quality , it seems that is the best way to go. I hope it helps you all ! 😃
this information would be good for a person with a photographic memory other wise you go thru it so fast I don't see how a normal person can absorb it.
Seriously? Before I even got 30 seconds in, I paused it and opened up a Word document with a table for columns with the SD, HDR 10, and DV. Then I just made notes. Then I replayed sections I need to write down.
Your video is supposed to be guide for those who don't know much about calibration. You should be showing steps slowly and step by step instead of running through the options as if you are doing it just for your own fun in your living room. Bad video.
From what I've seen in reviews, i would never switch off dynamic tone mapping on the g3. There is no benefit in buying the G3 over the C3 if you turn that off.
and why does the LG G3 need to go through the menu with a new setting every time when changing the picture??? Samsung, if you set dynamic brightness, it will be dynamic for 10 years!
@@janduller4722 i had 2 dead pixels on my 1st g3 65 inch, 2nd one got awful uniformity with banding and side of the screen with vignetting. Lg said its within spec😂😂
Both the 65- and 55-inch review samples I have (one retail, one direct from LG) are very clean uniformity wise and no dead pixels. It can be the luck of the draw with a consumer product and it sounds like you were unlucky twice. I haven't heard of any other issues from anyone else yet with the G3, and calibrators I talk to who regularly work on these have not seen anything like what you describe.

Aspect ratio is greyed for me. Also which streaming services offer HDR 10?

Does anyone know how to make subtitles less bright? It hurts the eyes.
These tv's costs 1000's.. Why all youtubers recommended against the use of the TV's full features such as "Dynamic Tone Mapping" is beyond me..
Just here to know if g3 is better in shadow details? I know it’s bright but how is near black handling?
Why cant i click on " Aspect Ratio " ?
Same problem, any suggestions?
when i watch sports i get this ball flickering when ball is moving fast , pls help
Can u explain more the 16x9 to original and just scan
He said switch off but he did the opposite
16:9 = forcing the source signal to 16:9 aspect ratio.
ORIGINAL = passthrough the source signal aspect ratio.
ON = just 1:1 pixel perfect.
