      It’s more because you’re used to a cool colour temperature as that’s what usually comes out of the box in computer monitors. I use these HDR general settings for regular TV/movies/YT and the HDR gaming settings for my PS5 Slim. They seem perfect except for one thing. I changed the color temperature from warm 50 to 0 because I found it too yellowish. But I have two questions. I turned on AMD FreeSync Premium, will this improve the PS5 image? Also, I see this nowhere in any calibration video of the LG C3, the 4:4:4 Pass Through setting. It says it's meant for a HDMI coupled PC but when I turn it on or off on PS5 I see colors changing and maybe something with the sharpness but I'm not sure if its improving the image or not. What do you think about this setting? When I installed my recently bought PS5 Slim the LG C3 put the 4:4:4 Pass Through setting on by default for PS5 Slim.

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  8 месяцев назад +2

      I would leave FreeSync disabled for PS5 use as that will instead use HDMI-VRR for variable refresh rates. You should find that the console still lists VRR support and allows you to turn it on when FreeSync is disabled.
      The PS5 cannot support 444 chroma anyway, its limit is 422. What’s the alternative settings for that option?

    • @MMCXCIV

      @@tftcentralThank you for your reply. I will turn off both options then. The 4:4:4 Pass Through setting can be either turned on or off. • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  10 месяцев назад

    • @TheLiddokun
      @TheLiddokun 5 месяцев назад

      I think the reason is that the default activates the white subpixels only for "0" color temp. And it so happens that the white subpixels are really blue tint, kinda like older cheap LED lights. It's not accurate, sunlight is like 5700K mid day, incandescent lights are like 3000K. the white subpixels are like 9000K or 10000K!
      Changing to warm 50 adds a little red subpixel to balance it out and make it accurate.

    Hello, nice informative video here thanks! I’m quite confused on how the switching between these presets works. I will be mostly jumping from SDR general desktop use when working and SDR gaming. Am I supposed to manually open the tv settings and switch between the presets you showed in the video every single time? Is there any profile menu where I can save and handily load them at need? Or does the C3 automatically recognise whenever I load up a pc game to switch to the sdr gaming preset? Really confused here sorry

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  11 месяцев назад +2

      No it should handle the switching automatically in these situations. Make sure instant game response is enabled on the screen and then when it detects you’ve started a game it will auto switch to the “game” preset mode, from whatever you were using before (eg expert bright mode). When you enable HDR in windows, it will auto switch to HDR mode too

      You could run through the windows 11 HDR calibration process but do it after you’ve configured the screen settings I would. Should be fairly simple process and no recommendations really for that. Some games will auto switch the screen to HDR mode but some will need you to enable HDR in windows too, but either way that will trigger the screen to move in to HDR mode, you won’t need to change anything on the tv as long as you have it set to the relevant preset mode

      The settings are remembered within each preset once you’ve set them up. You could use expert bright mode for Netflix and then configure the tv to auto switch to game mode when it detects the PS5 is turned on. Then configure that game mode as directed in the video. The setting for that automatic switching should be in the tv settings menu somewhere under the hdmi controls 😀

      This will depend on your use case and is a persona pref:
      - On a gaming profile (as a PC monitor) I set it quite high at about 40 (out of a max of 50)
      Too high and it is rather grainy while too low and it will look 'soft' and hence not sharp.
      - On a document Black text on a white background 25 looks good. Much higher and the text looks thin and starts to disappear against the strong white background.
      However as its an OLED I use reverse or dark mode where ever possible so thats white text on a dark grey background and the 40 setting still looks good.
      its really quite personal and depends on what you are using it for TV, PC monitor etc.
      Just access the sharpness on the settings 'shortcut' (rather than the one buried in the menu) and use the pointer to adapt the slider on the hoof to your liking.
      Good luck

    Is it possible to calibrate colours and white balance at different signal levels (multipoint) in the Game Optimizer mode the way it's possible in other picture modes like the Expert ones? Or you're basically stuck with panel's native performance if you want optimized latency?
    I'm concerned about the out-of-the-box EOTF tracking. It can be corrected with decent precision via the multipoint RGB/white balance in some other modes and it would have been great if that was possible in Game Optimizer image mode as well.

    I'm a bit confused why turning everything white to yellow is the "optimal" image even though for my human eyes, mostly all natural light is the colder kind or more neutral white. • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  6 месяцев назад

      6500K is the temperature of daylight, the upper “cool” end in fact. But there may be variation from panel to panel with this screen and so perhaps the recommended setting is going too warm on your sample. But equally may be because you’ve gotten very used to the very cool native appearance and just need a bit of time to adjust. Ultimately go for whatever looks better to you, that’s what it’s all about. This is only a guide 😀

    • @TheLiddokun
      @TheLiddokun 5 месяцев назад

      It's not subjective. Sunlight is objectively about 5700K at mid day, much warmer in morning or evening. Incandescent lights are like 3700K. The default C2/C3 is like 9000K. It's too blue. You're just used to cheap LED lights or poorly calibrated monitors. Set 6500K and you will get used to it after 1 hour.

      @cloud_slash6484 and you can’t set anything above 1360 x 768? I’d do a graphics card driver reinstall and update. Check you’ve got a suitable HDMI 2.1 cable, and maybe also check windows display settings instead if using NVIDIA control panel to set the resolution

      It’s within windows display settings, an option to turn HDR on or off
