I have one and it's a decent car. Not great handling, but it's quiet on long journeys, comfortable, decent ride and it's pretty punchy in a straight line. If Kia weighted the steering correctly, the proceed GT would be an absolute hit.
The facelift 208 GTI (2015 onwards) along with the BPS/30th versions had upgrades on the engine increasing the power to 205bhp, improving the 0-60 time to just 6.5s. The facelift is also considered to be much more reliable.
It is a good car. I had a 2017, had it stage 1 remap, made 230bhp, totally transformed the car, nice and quick. Felt quicker than the power figures suggested.😊
I had a 2016 208 GTI as my first car, I chose it over the VXR and the ST as at the time insurance was cheaper, tax was cheaper than the VXR, the inside was probably the nicest of the 3. it also had a brand new alloy instead of a runner with a pilot sport 4 which came in handy when I accidently took in down a logging route on the isle of mull. Still have a soft spot for them!
The F56 Mini Cooper S along side with the swift sport is one of the most reliable cars on this list. The B48 engine is virtually bulletproof in terms of both reliability and durability. Idk if this is true or not, but I read in a forum somewhere (could be reddit) that someone lost compression on their F56 due to a shitty tune, so they tried to blow the engine up by holding it at the rev limiter, they said they held it continuously at the rev limiter for 35 minutes, until the exhaust pipe was glowing yellow. The last 15 mins had the oil drained completely and it still wouldn't die. Anyways, they installed a brand new motor and found a different tuner and they are pushing 300whp with no issues.
Didn't expect a Mito QV on this list honestly. I own one, tuned it and it's great fun and defenitly suprises most cars especialy around corners, simple set of coilovers and chassis bracing and it's like a go cart😁 it shares the chassis with the abarth punto btw, not the 595

Currently looking for a normal Mito for my first car My second would be the Peugeot 208 gti as by the time that prince engine was put in that car, it was mostly sorted, not perfect but definitely better than the earlier versions.
The Mito is cheap to run, but reliability is still definitely an Alfa issue - I looked at a Giulia QV earlier this month (bought a 308 GTi instead, incidentally) and the reliability put me off. I say reliability, really the issue is the dealer network is AWFUL. Alfas don't necessarily break more than other cars, but I literally couldn't find a garage within 150 miles that I would trust to fix any QV properly. The 208 GTi is a lot of fun, but as above I just bought a 308 GTi so may be slightly biased. That said, I don't like it because I have one, I have one because I like it- could have bought many things, chose the Pug because turbo lag followed by lift-off oversteer is just fun and Pug are in their own league for that stuff.
@@ApothecaryTerry congrats on the 308, they are awesome cars and absolute weapons on a good b road and yeah I totally agree with the Alfa thing, their reliability seems to be very up and down from car to car and the dealer network is horrendous. @@kennyd7667 The 308 is mad- the i30N is a "better" car, it's got far less flaws. Like the 308, flawed but fun - and I'll take that over "good" every time. Sadly, it was the only car I've seen since my '98 Punto that breaks more often than it brakes...
Nice video, but I’m seriously wandering if you have driven the VXR, it’s a terrible car to drive! The Peugeot has that disaster of an engine like the R56 mini which everyone I’ve known needed a new engine. I do like your videos but some of these suggestions will send people bankrupt! I also had a Scirocco with the twin charged 1.4, car was nice, engine was crap, sounded terrible, had no usable torque and performance figures exaggerated. Just a quick comment incase some people buy some of these cars. Be warned! FFS man do more research!!!!
Prince engine a disaster? Sure it sounds like crap and breaks every week, but to drive...it's just fun. Also, while the Prince breaks every week, most non-Japanese cars are about the same in that regard. For context: I test drove an M4 Comp, Giulia QV, Supra and A110 in a single day, Macan GTS the week before and turned up to all those test drives in my 981CS (as featured on this channel!). I've also driven 10 hot hatches, 1 Lambo and all cylinder counts other than a V12 in the last 12 months. Please don't take that as bragging, I'm lucky to have that opportunity, I'm listing that to say this: having driven and rejected all of those, I bought a 308 GTi with a Prince engine. Maybe I'm insane, maybe the Prince engine is really good. Probably both- but I definitely did my research: that engine hasn't been unreliable for a long time. It's no Lexus (of which I've had 3) but I'll take a Prince engine over anything VAG have to offer. Reliability was mostly fixed post-2017, every mechanic knows how to fix them and, most importantly, the Prince (in the right guise) is the most exciting 4-pot since Richard Burns was WRC champion. That last comment was really why I listed all those cars I drove - based on driving all the cars, I'll take the Prince engine. Actually I'll take its predecessor, the TU in the 306 GTi-6, but that doesn't have Android Auto and massage seats 🤣
The r56 engine is fine if you look after it and take some decent precautions. Replace gaskets, replace timing chain whilst at it and it'll last thousands of miles without many issues.
@@jakey9065 I feel like "replace gaskets" and "thousands of miles without MANY issues" is very similar to what an Alfa dealer once told me about a 159: "if you look after it well, it'll work at least once a month" 🤣 Considering I bought a Prince-engined car last week, you're worrying me...
Previously owned a 208 gti and the only issue I had after 50000 miles was a coil pack, which cost around £100 to fix. Other than that it was bullet proof and I drove it hard most of the time aswell.
Swift Sport is properly under rated. Drives like it's on rails and is almost bullet proof mechanically.
