You are the QUEEN of tips and tricks , which is why I watch the video's even if I'm not making the demonstrated project. There is always something new to learn!! Great series and thanks for all you do for us.
Thank you Becky. Your videos explained step by step for beginners. I love I can go back to this and do it correctly. I tried to make a lap quilt with squares like this and never picked it up again because I didn't understand how to measure and pin the corners. I'm a visual person and this video makes me want to start again.
I have a joyful day in my sewing room and got lots done. Now I get to sit and watch you work. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! Thanks for sharing!
You are a genius. I would never do everything you did for the chicken placemat. I love to sit and watch my single needle embroidery machine. I watched all four videos and learned a lot. Thank you.
You are so funny too, Becky! I enjoy your watching your tutorial so much. Your techniques are fantastic. I don't think I can do quilting, but by watching you vlog, seems I can challenge myself. I have been sewing for over 50 years, but never done applique or embroidery in my life I just do garment sewing. I should make use of my Brother Luminaire XP2. Thank you, Becky....
Oh look out my friend! You are going to just absolutely love it. There are so many skills in quilting that you already have with a base knowledge of garment sewing. The two go naturally together and you're going to pick it up so easily. But get out that embroidery machine and give it a try. Careful! You'll get hooked!
💐💐💐💐💝💝💝💝🐔🐔🐔🐔Hi Becky, I absolutely LOVE your channel! You are a GREAT teacher! Oh my "Buck, Buck, Buck-gosh!!!" Those chickens are adorable!!!🤣🤣🤣 I'm sorry, I just HAD to comment on this video! Also, when you say let's make "chicken salad"....girl, you make me so hungry!!!🤣🤣🤣🤤 Hope you have a Great Night! 💝💐Your Wisconsin Friend, Laurie🐄
beautiful place mat and your instructions are fabulous. I am working up to my first in the hoop project and you have given me the confidence to attempt it ❤️
Becky do you have any plans on a video of the chicken wall hanging? I'm curious how to self bind on the 45 degree corners coming down to the point. Haven't tried that one yet!
So beautiful. Wow, everything you make looks so beautiful. I did not know that some stabilizers and embroidery threads melt. Why would any company make stabilizers and threads which melt. I never knew that. Thank you for alerting us to that. I guess when buying stabilizer and embroidery threads, or any threads, we should make sure the labels say “heat proof”. I loved this video. So cute.
Not necessarily about the 'heat proof' notice. All embroidery threads can take the heat of an iron. But it's the stabilizers that can melt if you buy cheap knock-off stabilizer. Always stick with nationally known brands to ensure the best stitch outs.
Hi Becky, do you ever get frustrated trying to sew those machine embroidered blocks so that the outside placement stitches do not show in the seam? I do. So, I've switched to using a washaway thread for that placement stitch initially when I am doing the embroidered block, that way I don't have to worry about all of the bulk that is also created with all that thread in the seam because it is going to get washed away later.
I’ve watched all 4 episodes of the Chicken placemat. Can you give en estimate on how long it took you to complete the project? If I was to make this, (and it is stinking’ cute!), I would make at least a set of 4. Love how you used the 1/4” adhesive to hold down the binding. So much easier than clips. Thanks a lot for this series. I have some oh Juju’s placemat designs, and just been afraid to tackle them.
I think the time to make this would be determined by your own individual skills. I'd be hard pressed to decide my own time because when I'm shooting a video, I go MUCH slower than if I am not. Wish I could help! But if I were making multiples, I'd use my multi needle and sew all 4 of each panel one after another to do assembly line sewing.
This quilt is a mystery, so there’s no way to see the finished product before making it. You just have to follow the directions and see what turns out.!
I only use Organ and usually size 75/11 EBBR (embroidery needles). Brother and Baby Lock machines are timed with Organ needles at the factory so that's how your machine is happiest. :)
It's definitely a challenge. Sometimes on those, you have to fake it till you make it. :) I wish there was a super easy method. But the easiest I've found is to use a cardboard template with a 45 degree corner on it to fold the fabric over until it is just right. Then press like crazy.

Thank you Becky! You are the greatest teacher. I love it when you include your mistakes and how you go about correcting them.

I bought the iron, can’t wait to try it out, and I bought the ruler by George. Thanks for all the good reviews on products!!
Becky, thank you for all your hard work sewing with us and providing videos, humor and education. You are greatly appreciated.

Beautiful placemat and thanks for the tutorial Beckey.
That is sooooooooooo cute!

I've never used wash-away thread. I just make sure that my final stitch is inside the embroidery stitches.
Do these come with the designs already quilted and embroidered? They are beautiful and if you made those…..I will die!
Adorable! Can't wait to get mine done. You are such an inspiration girl!
So very cute! Great tutorial.
Love the video ! Thanks so much.

Becky thank you. What color threads did you use for the stitchin the ditch
An off white.
You are amazing but how are you able to see your finished product on your tablet before making it?
This quilt is a mystery, so there’s no way to see the finished product before making it. You just have to follow the directions and see what turns out.!
I always heard baggy bottom.😊The baggy side gets put on the bottom.
Becky
Do you know much about sew what pro
My friend has it and I’m wondering how it compares to Embrillance
No sorry, I'm not familiar with it.
Loved the tips. I just wanted to know what type of stabilizer do you use that can take the heat when ironing.
My no show polymesh that I have in my Amazon store has never shrunk up with the heat from my iron. Amazon.com/shop/powertoolswiththread
What kind of needles do you use in your Luminaire Becky?
I only use Organ and usually size 75/11 EBBR (embroidery needles). Brother and Baby Lock machines are timed with Organ needles at the factory so that's how your machine is happiest. :)
Awesome! Thanks so much for your time Becky.
These were so fun to watch emerge! I think you need to make Keith’s with roosters…. Just sayin’
I struggle so much with the self binding mitered corners. I watch and watch your method and can’t get it.

This is my unfavorite part. Thank you.
