Brilliant video yet again, I don't do embroidery at all just quilts and bags and runners etc., but I have watched so many of your videos on it, I watch your situation room videos every day now and you explain things in such a brilliant way that I feel could go out and buy a machine and follow you no bother ha. Your are such a fabulous teacher. Elaine Spoor UK follower xxx
Thank you so much for making this video! I have always hated having to sew bias binding because I could never get it aligned. No one ever told me that one side of the bias binding was wider and goes on bottom---WOW what a difference. I made my own bias binding for my tree skirt and attached it like you said and it turned out perfect the 1st time!!!!
Hi, I started this 4 months ago. I watched your videos many times. I felt your instructions were right on. This is a beautiful design and your instructions are definitely needed, at least for someone not seasoned to Machine embroidery and appliqué. I love how mine turned out. And anxious to put I it under the tree. I used a lot of Kingstar metallic thread. All of my background is metallic silver. I will review this with designs by JuJu. Thanks again for your great tutorials and tips.
This would also be a beautiful table cover. Becky, as usual, you performed a wonderful labor of love and you have succeeded in motivating us by creating this, another great tutorial. Thanks to JuJu for this new creation and You for teaching us how to achieve the end result.
Thank you so much Becky, I've watched both videos several times and find them so helpful! My tree skirt is ready for backing. Yea and again a huge thank you!
Wow! It is a piece of art!! Definitely an heirloom after doing all that. I'll never be sewing like that, but l really find it fascinating to watch you!!
Have just finished mine today and very happy with it. Thanks so much Becky for fantastic videos. I watched them numerous times as I got to different stages.
JuJu really outdid herself with the tree skirt - absolutely stunning. Your tutorial is going to be so helpful and, hopefully, bring you more viewers. You're almost at 50,000 - yea!
I just finished this and I LOVE IT. in the process of making 2 more for Christmas gifts. Thank you so much for making these videos I wouldn’t have been able to make this beautiful skirt without your guidance.
Hi, I ordered this design and cannot wait to make it. I have watched your videos and you give fantastic directions, tips and how you organize is wonderful. I see with this project that is a big factor as well. I feel more confident after watching your 2 videos a few times and I am planning on starting this in July. Thank you again for all of the great instruction and tips.
I just finished the top. I know I wouldn't have gotten this far without your instructions. Thanks. Now to put the back on. I know I can do it because I watched your video several times.
Wow you are so busy! After watching you I always get in the mood to go sew, so off I go. Thanks for a video that makes me feel like I’m visiting with a very good friend.
I know this video has been out for awhile. Thanks for the excellent tutorials. I have just finished making one. I am putting the backing on. My question, did you have a few ripples on the outside edge when pinning? Meaning when laid out, it does not lay quite flat.
Becky, wow that is lots of work, with so many wonderful tips and tricks you have included. Absolutely love it. Husband even looked over and said it was beautiful and knew there was lots of work in this piece. Thank you so much
That is an amazing piece of art, I cant wait to start, I have two quilts to finish first for my grandchildren, for Christmas. So that's the kick I need to get them finished, I am going to make the skirt for my great grand children, thanks for the great tutorial Becky.
The way you taught how to match up seams is amazing. I made this tree shirt and the seams all matched perfectly no slippage between the seams. Thanh you so much.
Did you use embroidery thread to do the joining of the blocks? I was considering using cotton thread for seams, but as concerned about mixing thread types in the project. Thanks!
Your tutorial is just fantastic! I referred to it many times as I was doing the project. DBJJ instructions are also super with each step thoroughly explained. In your tutorial, I didn't see you top-stitching the tree skirt all the way around. (Maybe it's a foregone conclusion to do it.) Did you feel the stitch-in-the-ditch with a precise pressing was sufficient? Since I gave away the Ham I had years ago, I used my Clover little mini-iron to press open the seams before turning right sides out. I worked great - very tedious to do, but worth the effort. Believe it or not, my tree skirt will be sent to a super Air Force man who served under my Green Beret son in Afghanistan.
Absolutely stunning Becky 😍..I enjoyed every second of the videos. What a marvellous sense of achievement you would have felt when finished. I would have it somewhere in the house where I could look and admire it every time I walked passed it 😂. 😘💐
After seeing your Chicken Salad Quilt & NOT the tree skirt, I am so excited to get started with my new multi-needle machine. BUT! I also am VERY interested in getting a Scan n Cut machine. I have a Cricut Explore & it is fine for vinyl & paper, but I would like to have something to help with cutting fabric. I do not have any other Brother machines. Which model would you recommend for me to get?
Beautiful job. I have my pattern and will be waiting for more Christmas material to come in. That will be the BIG job for me. Choosing material! I was wondering how I obtain the schedule you commented about in Part 1 for finishing each piece and keeping track of each piece.
Thanks for the great videos. I have all my inner blocks done, so adorable. I watched a video where you showed clips to use on the magnetic hoops and you said to go to your Amazon store. Which I tried to do but I can’t seem to get to your store. I put in power tools with thread and your name but it just brings up power tools. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?
I had that Brother PQ1500 for several years before the Luminaire came out. Its sole purpose in life is a straight stitch and the quality of that stitch and the resulting product are far superior to what I'd get on the Luminaire. It's because of the single hole needle plate and the function of the machine to hold the fabric tighter to the bed of the machine and near industrial force of moving the fabric smooth and straight across the feed dogs. The quality of my stitching skyrocketed when I began using that machine. Now I struggle with my stitching when I'm on the road and I can't use it. Absolute best purchase I've ever made for my quilting. That's why you see Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics and Kim Jolly of Fat Quarter Shop use straight stitch machines as well. The difference is incredible. I'm so surprised at how inexpensive it is too. This one is sold by Brother on Amazon so it has a warranty: amzn.to/3eo7SLz
I’d like to make a Cup of Cheer. I shared to my Embroidery group I started called Foothills Machine Embroidery in Maryville, TN! We meet monthly and share the latest news. I plan to introduce your channel to them next month. Thank you.
Would it be possible to do one side one color background and then do a second set in a different color in order to have a reversible? And then you wouldn’t need to piece the backing..
Now that's ambitious! But I guess you could make two skirts and sew them up back to back. It will be heavy with 2 layers of batting but it can be done.
How much silver gray thread did you buy for stitching the background swirls? I know you said it in a video but I can’t seem to find it. I think it was a large cone of something.
I don't think you really need that because the stabilizer will really stiffen the panels. If you don't have any SF101, Sulky's Soft & Sheer will work or a very lightweight non-woven Pellon fusible interfacing.
I'd set yourself an hourly wage. Then figure out how long it took you to make it. Charge your wage + materials. I figured it out when I made mine and it was over $400.
Why wouldn’t you sew the back on with your long arm? I think that is what I would do. I’m still considering buying this, but I don’t have children and my grandchildren live far away and don’t visit for Christmas. I wish there was a more adult version of the tree skirt.
That's certainly an option to use the longarm. However, for the purposes of a how-to video for DBJJ, most of her customers don't have one so I showed how to do it using a domestic machine. Thanks for watching!
WOWZA--what great workmanship of how to complete an intense project. I'm GLAD you didn't eat CHEETOS and then lick your fingers before smoothing the edges. ;-) AWESOME JOB!
I find her so hard to understand what she is doing. Camera doesn't show what she is talking about. I gave up when she was sewing around outside edge. I was planning on getting the design but I am more confused now after watching her.
Oh, I'm so sorry the video didn't make sense. Perhaps if you watch more of my embroidery tutorials, the pieces will come together? Sometimes I forget to do a video for all levels. My apologies. Hang in there!
@@PowerToolsWithThread I run an embroidery business and teach embroidery. I also have been a seamstress for Disney designing and making some of those princess dresses you see. I am very capable at both but your camera view is so far away. You pull a pen out and say sew here but the camera doesn't show where here is. That's my point. Looking at your body sewing isn't how you show someone. We want the see up close the project not you.

I used a cotton poly blend to put the blocks together.

Do you scotch guard your tree skirts once they are completed?
I've never done that. But I don't have a lot of spilling or pets that might make a mess. It couldn't hurt if you need it.
When you create the svg appliqué do
You save the file and use that file to sew from?
You did a wonderful job…thanks for the inspiration
Thank you for your videos. Stunning.
What’s the best was to prep and cut fabric for the applique?
I prefer to use HeatNBond Lite and my ScanNCut.
Question Becky, do you prefer your smaller brother for straight stitch sewing. Why didn't you use the Luminaire? Just curious.
I had that Brother PQ1500 for several years before the Luminaire came out. Its sole purpose in life is a straight stitch and the quality of that stitch and the resulting product are far superior to what I'd get on the Luminaire. What type of pen/marker do you use on the back of the blocks to keep them organized?
A Frixion Fine Line pen. amzn.to/49habqK

What is the name of the item you used when ironing the edges down?
It's called a Pressing Ham. Normally used by garment tailors but perfect for these types of projects! amzn.to/3bA5pN6
My skirt does not lie flat even though I stitched in between the lines. Is there anyway to fix it?
Put presents all over it? :)
Maybe you should keep it, you certainly put many hours into it. It is a real beauty.
How much silver gray thread did you buy for stitching the background swirls? I know you said it in a video but I can’t seem to find it. I think it was a large cone of something.
Just buy a large cone of whatever color you choose. That way you are sure to have enough.
Becky, did you use grey thread or silver metallic on the snowflakes and swirls?
No batting? This is adorable
Yes, the batting is placed during Part 1 of the video series.
For How much money can I sell it?
Could I use a heavy cutaway stabilizer for this project
I don't think you really need that because the stabilizer will really stiffen the panels. If you don't have any SF101, Sulky's Soft & Sheer will work or a very lightweight non-woven Pellon fusible interfacing.
Beautiful
Hi, Can you give and advise? If I sell one, ¿ How much can I ask for it?
I'd set yourself an hourly wage. Then figure out how long it took you to make it. Charge your wage + materials. I figured it out when I made mine and it was over $400.
Does all the steam pressing flatten your batting?
Not at all. Because of the way the design is digitized, there wasn't any batting at the seam line. Instead it was 1/8" inside the fabric seam line.
I'm not understanding?
Do I use SF 101 in all of the wedges or just the center of the wedges
I put SF101 over the entire piece including the seam allowance on all 45 hoopings.
Do you have a thread set to do this?
Beautiful !!!
Thank you!
do you need Embrilliance Embroidery Software to do this beautiful pattern?
Not at all
No ma'am, you don't need any embroidery software. I just used it to show you the design makeup.
@@PowerToolsWithThread thank you.
Could you have attached the backing on your long arm?
Yes absolutely. But I did it the old fashioned way so folks without a longarm will see how it's done.
