I bought the A6 for my truck a couple of years ago. Sold the truck and left the atoto in it.. mistake! I bought a small motor home last November and I just bought a Atoto A6 pro . Love it! Something I like is playing XM streaming from my phone through the head unit it is just like it has XM built In it. Shows the song title and the band name . I'm old, and getting used to the head unit was a challenge but I'm learning . I even have a front dash cam working . I opted not to use the back up cam because the motor home already has a backup in it. I also bought the wireless remote and mounted it on the steering wheel.

I also searched for heaps of reviews to see if anyone has mentioned the responsiveness because I have the Atoto A6 Pro and I'm finding it super slow with every app I use such as Spotify, Gmaps and RUclips. Keyboard input is painfully laggy AF.
This was also before and after I updated the OS from Atoto hoping it would improve it but it didn't. I might try factory resetting it to see if that helps.

No but u can't but u can download a car launcher that has your car logo hope this helps

I've been happy with my unit. I wish Atoto also made a programmable wireless keypad for these units that you could stick anywhere so that you can quickly switch between GPS, Music, Phone, etc. apps while driving without looking at the screen.
The unit has 4v low level outputs as well as high level pre-amp out which can be used in almost any combination. It also has sub woofer out, and two video inputs (one for rear cam) along with the front camera USB input. I have everything except TPMS hooked up and all work great.

Your other video was a big help in deciding for me.
Don't care about car play and android auto is a minor consideration.

I have the Atoto A6 premium on my 2007 Ford Crown Victoria for the past year and half or so and I love it.. just download youtube vanced for ad free and background play on mine but I have a windshield magnet mount I bluetooth to the deck from my Samsung s10 plus.
I too have a crown vic. How was the fitment. Does it rub against the top dash?

Much obliged for following up on a product. That's all I really care about is if it's going to last or not. But I suspect it depends on climate on the longevity of any car electronics. Such as me being in Phoenix Arizona, will it last? Or being in a place where it's freezing cold? I'm getting it regardless so...much obliged!
It has worked well in NJ climate - gets up to around 100F in the summer (outside the vehicle) and are 15F in the winter. We have heard that some units have experienced over-heating in hotter climates but it is hard to say if those were rare cases or normal. Our unit has worked without issue on long road trips in summer weather without an issue tho.
Be aware that even know this is a good unit it has a very important issue at least for people that leaves in places with very hot weather like me. I am in Florida and I personally know 2 people that purchased this unit and the issue is over heat. Long drives the unit shuts down when is too hot. Unlike Kenwood and Pioneer this unit does not have cooling system.
Good to know. I think the longest drive I’ve taken with this was 8 hours straight. It didn’t overheat or turn off for me but I know everyone’s unit can vary slightly

Deleting radio stations from that presets bar is really easy, just swipe up on the station you want removed. Found this out by accidentally a couple of stations, so I know it works!

I believe updates to the firmware are done by downloading a file on computer then putting it on sd....directions are on their website.

Appreciate the review, I am thinking of buying the updated version of this unit. With that said, is there any other unit that you would consider over this one? I am Android play and this is going into a second vehicle that will be driven only 5 or 6 times a year. Will be adding back up camera and the android play auto but I noticed your link is no longer available. Any other link that works or is everything down because of the CoronaVirus? This is the only one we've used and we haven't had any issues with it. It has worked really well and is used on nearly a daily basis. You may be correct on the dongle. I have seen it sell out before and come back in stock. I know a lot of parts coming from China are delayed.
I notice that you don’t have any flickering on your back up camera. Mine is terrible. Any ideas?
Please I need help, I have that same stereo but it does not load or let me enter the settings options nor does it load to be able to connect to the wifi internet, and when I enter the applications menu the icons look big, what can I do since not even the Does the option reset nor does it work when you touch the reset button?

Would atoto unit work with Alexa car? Such as lowering the volume and pausing the music or launching certain apps?

So how do you feel about it now. I’m between this unit and the Boss version of the same. I want to use the Apple CarPlay so I’m not as worried about apps but the torque app is interesting. Has it held up to time? I’m putting in my avalanche z71 so I was curious what your experience has been at this point. Also was there an option to install an external mic and how is the call quality on blue tooth?
Yes, there is an external mic option. You can watch our 2004 Silverado install guide. It worked really well with no issues. We have since switch to the S8 which is also really nice and are testing that out.
I have a JL 4 channel going to my components and a sound cubed mono tied to a 10" sub. I cannot tune the sound to sound good. Took out a kenwood that sounded amazing. Any tips for getting this to sound right?

Awesome feedback! What year is your Silverado and did it have the Bose system with the amp? I have an 05 Tahoe with Bose and it's been a nightmare trying to find a unit like this that'll easily work with it (I need 4 channel pre Amp)
It is a 2004 with the base system. Bose may require an additional module to work.

mine has a very bad WIFI. its hard to connect it even to a close wifi. and it takes forever to download offline google maps
That sounds like a faulty antenna. Ours has been very good.

Can you install the GPS Nav app called "Here" and download the free map and turn-by-turn voice on this unit? I wonder how it works since I am considering moving the nav feature to the bigger screen but not sure I want to buy the android auto dongle.
Does this have Steering Wheel Control Learning? I'd hate to have to use a ASWC-1 harness again.
A car stereo needs a knob. You can have all the fancy touchscreen you want but still needs a knob.
Having a nob is always nice for that tactile feel
its well equipped but man it gets slow when you have more than one app open
I just installed the S8 standard in my car, so of course I had to go with the recommended dash cam. I have a 128GB card in the dash cam and also one in the stereo, but the dash cam does not save video to either. When I load the DVR apk, it looks like it's just loading instead of already being on. And then when I hit the record button, the little red icon pops up for a second then goes back to the folder icon with the slash through it. Any help would be appreciated.
My physical buttons have failed after about 2 years. I have had tons of problems with mine, so I'm pretty much ready to chuck it at this point.
That stinks 😔 ours has still held up without issue but there are always bad units I'm sure. Most electronics these days aren't designed to last for more than a few years sadly.
@@TheSundaeDrive I'm hesitant to buy another ATOTO unit, but there doesn't seem to be something else I like with the same options. Can you tell me if this version allows you to save more than one equalizer setting?
@@zeketaney5567 we just updated to the s8 version which seems to be more responsive with a nicer display and can come with built in carplay etc. I would probably suggest going with the newer model. We haven't had a chance to do a long term review on it yet but it was plug and play with the A6 wiring harness in our truck.

Hi i can use the obd with my wifi app DashCmd at the same time connected on my iPhone wifi geting music on deezer like samples?
Have you had any problems with the update? I wish I could just connect it to the wifi and download it directly, I did the whole thing, copy the zip file on a SD card and inserted it in the unit but didn’t do anything, it suppose to launch it automatically, but mine didn’t do anything, bad luck I guess. Great review tho, one of the reasons I decided to buy this unit.
It will prompt you to format the memory card. Format it from the A6. Then take the memory card back to your laptop copy the update. Then take it back to your A6 insert it. The update prompt will pop up in the middle of the screen

Download songs into the unit so no phone needed?
Yes, if you have spotify premium you can download songs to it. It also has expandable memory. Get the model with physical buttons though if you're still questioning buying one.

After the November update, the subwoofer output doesn't work. Only if I open mega bass settings will it come back on

Can you tap into the reverse camera you already have on your truck?
It may require an additional module depending on the vehicle but you should be able to get it to work.
Great review, thanks! Quick question. I'm thinking of switching out my Pioneer W4500NEX to this unit. My biggest concern is wireless Android auto, sound quality powering my subs with no issues. For instance, if I'm listening to the radio and I turn the vehicle off... When the unit powers up do I need to do anything for the radio to come back on or does it play from it's last source. Now if you're bluetoothed I understand you need to reconnect. Thanks again.
Shouldn't need to reconnect even with bluetooth, as far as quality it concerned it is really fantastic, far better than most name brand headunits in the $500 range. With this A6 pro being $250 it's a steal. There's so many great features in this and honestly although it's not a super well know name brand, imo it wipes the floor with the competition and is far better than most headunits at the $500-$650 price range.
Wireless Carplay/Android Auto wireless adapter can be purchased as well from Atoto amazon seller store, I believe it's like $80 last time I checked. Hope this helped

So you have to buy an adapter for Android auto? I thought you could just plug your charger to the staereo deck and your good to go? But you have to buy adapter?
I guess that was the case for this older version. You def don't need adapter for the current versions.

Any one else have an issue with internal or external mic? Its so quiet and cannot find out how to increase gain or turn off noise cancelling (if thats the issue as it seems the first word I say is ok then rest of call is quieter, even when right next to mic its only slightly better.) Thanks!
Have you guys tried the standard version? right now is about 170$ (The new version with buttons on the left) but I was wondering if it there is a noticeable different between the PRO because Hardware wise it has 1GB of ram less than the pro (that is has 2GB). And its only 16GB of internal storage (Which is not a problem since you can plug an SD card)
We have not personally used the standard version so I am not sure how well it works in comparison

I having a problem getting my iphone contacts to show up on the unit. It connects fine but just wont upload the contacts. have tried all sorts of things but hope you can help. Oh BTW it works fine with android phones.

Not terrible but not great.
I've always heard to stay away from these style of head units with the capacitive touch buttons instead of physical click buttons. Apparently the capacitive touch buttons glitch out and stop working rather easily.
This has both physical and touch buttons and we haven't had any issues in well over a year since installing.
@@TheSundaeDrive You have physical buttons on the unit and the screen is a touch screen. The capacitive touch you'll see on similar head units where we would have click buttons.

Hi how’s everybody doing today I just installed an 86 performance in my Ford I hooked up the ignition line the continuous 12 V line and apparently the dimmer control with the headlights and it’s draining my battery when the car is off does anybody have a suggestion out there thanks

Does this have satellite GPS nav? Or is it data/offline maps from apps only?
This has a gps receiver and maps can be downloaded to the unit
How do you tether your phone? Don’t you have to pay extra for that iPhone feature?
+dutch971 I believe tethering does not cost extra for some cell providers like Verizon or T-Mobile. Not sure about AT&T
Can you do a video running a chromecast or video game console to the back of the Atoto?

Lol that is true! There isn't an hdmi port at the back tho so you would need an interface of some sort. Good idea tho! That stinks about the screen :(
I wouldnt get the gesture control but since they've gotten rid of the physical buttons I'm considering it. So are you saying the volume control is on the touchscreen?
Did they change the specs? Cus I was just on amaxpn and its saying the pre amp Volatage is now 2v instead of 4v
+Dangerous Fandango looks like you’re right, seems to be 2v pre-amp output now. Thought mine was 4v but having a hard time confirming that now. Looks like you’d be stuck with 2v which isn’t the end of the world I guess. Just gotta turn to the amp gain

i have the same radio but when i leave my house to go to work i lose connection on wifi dont get me wrong i love the radio but i dont wanna listen to the radio every time i wanna listen to spotify or pandora or sirusxm can anyone help me out how i can keep wifi connected with out loseing connection
Are you using a hotspot from your phone?
@@TheSundaeDrive yea but when i try to used hotspot or teathering its telling me to get att data plan or something but i have unlimited data and everything i dont no what could be wrong
That sounds like an issue with your carrier if your phone is giving an error.
i dont like it. a lot of hidden menus. cannot get apple car play to work. no tech support. very quirky. nav does not work when no wifi even with downloaded maps. don’t know why people like this.
I think it works well for certain roles but for others it does not. We are testing their new s8 which has built in car play and a lot of other upgrades.

If on Iphone turn on personal hotspot, dont need to connect that way but that enables bluetooth tethering

You can make this work with steering wheel controls by buying an additional unit like the PAC steering wheel interface. It depends on your vehicle though What do you have?
I have a 2009 scion xb
+blade5054 doesn’t work well with google assistant so I wouldn’t recommend that unless you are using your phone’s google assistant via android auto. It will work with factory steering wheel controls but you need to purchase an extra module from a company such as PAC audio. They make the converter from your factory controls to the headunit input

ATOTO Smartlink (Enables Android Auto and Apple Car Play). I never found that available when I installed, so don't have it. Yanking it all out and putting that in is an option I guess, but isn't that what you want OUT OF THE BOX? This thing is built on an old android version, and will not run Android Auto or Car Play. That's A WARNING for people looking at this. For me, this thing is a glorified stereo. The screen buttons are TINY, and often in the verrrryyy corner (maddening) , and the screen itself is not very good at responding to touch. I have to press, press, press, nothing... fuck.. press again...
I'm NOT very impressed with my Atoto A6 Pro. I end up using my phone for maps, because this thing is just a pain in the ass. It's a great stereo, except, to get things on and off, it has to format the card the old way. SO, I keep replacing cards because the formatting doesn't last. From my mac, to transfer my music, and then to the atoto, and back a few times, and the card is dust - unreadable. I don't even have a card in it now, cuz I got tired of doing that. I'm sure this guy has had a great experience with his, but I definitely have not. Glorified Stereo that runs a sub. Basically that's it.
Doesnt it lag with opening 3rd party apps like Google maps?
In my experience, Google Maps opens pretty fast and doesn’t run poorly. I’m using Spotify right now and that also loads and runs good
Hey just to say... You can download google maps offline to run areas. You have 32gb of rom, plenty of room to download a City or State. Then turn hotspot off.

Only Android 6.0 max on these. If they work, leave them, update sometimes break things
