You know you can set up a Graphic EQ in REW.. Manually enter in all the frequencies. 80, 125, 200, 320, etc.. Your head unit claims to be 2.0 Q. so enter 2.0 for all of them.. uncheck Narrow filters and Vary Q. To run it just select "optimize gains". (Save your filter set before using it. to save time in the future). I would love to see a "Part 2" of this. Combined with setting timing by ear, it might not be too horrible.
I did this when I had an Audiocontrol for a few weeks. It worked surprisingly well until I threw the Audiocontrol in the garbage, and then it was amazing!
10:00 I see and agree with your frustration. You can't see the DB adjustment, nor can you see the Q setting''s effect on the curve. I have an AudioControl amp that does a good job on this front, but it put a massive dent in my wallet. But anyhoo, I've now gotten the jones for this kind of control and I'm looking for a cheaper alternative for another car. I have this ATOTO unit on order for it and am digging around for more info, and your channel has been a big help! Thanks, again!
I have the atoto s8 pro and use optical out to miniDSP and really enjoy how fast the head unit is.
That's is the exact one i am using and I use the optical output to connect to my Helix DSP.3
@@bennyblanco14 Do you use the the radio eq settings at all or do you leave flat and set everything on DSP? I do like using loudness setting when playing at lower volumes.
@Smokeey409 I leave it flat completely since I leave it to my DSP for tuning but, I have been playing around with the dsp to try to get a flat as possible signal. So when it goes into the dsp, tuning is a bit easier.
@@bennyblanco14 how flat would you say the signal is using the head unit?
These videoes are very interesting, as I've always wondered why people preach "android headunits doesn't sound good!", and your videos seem to tell them different 😊 the lack of numerals when you adjust the parameters in the unit, its just one of those things that makes my head itch, because how easy it would've been to just add a input box. Have you tried double tapping/holding your finger on it? I've experienced similar with my unit, where a long press would open a input box😊 keep up the videos about android headunits!🤘
Thank u for sharing! Very professional in the equalizer! 🤩🤩
To make my sql system sound a lot less harsh without sacrificing volume i manually apply filters, meaning if I’ve got 500hz boosted 2-3db with a wide Q I’ll dip 750-800 about -2db from zero with a narrow Q and then boost 1 with a medium Q .. not those exact frequencies but that is the type of filter I add for SQL tunes that will allow me to get loud without getting messy and harsh
Edit: Ah, so "soundfield is just fader and balance?" I'd thought (and hoped) they'd be timing presets. Maybe there's an app for that...

Great vid! 2:45 Do they explain the time correction in the manual? The Sound Field option adds some confusion here unless they were both combined into the same screen. Seems like you would choose the Sound Field and then measure time correction based on each setting.
There is an eq setting on the atoto s8. There a hidden menu, if you swipe down from the top of your screen you will see the setting.
Thanks I will check that out.
Amazing informations.. I am trying to learn from you.
Good video. What brand and model are the front speakers you are using for the test?
Just a cheapo po audio mids, similar to DS18.
I wonder if there is any ways to accès to the files of the configuration and edit them (notepad ?). At least there is an option to save/export/import config files ?
Anyway, that remember me analog EQ where you use to guess about values you are setting. Oldschool !
Are you using the line out converters here or speaker level input to the amplifier
High level outputs and no amplifier.
Thanks! Any chance you could DM/spoil me on the headunit you are going to put in your system? I've been binging your latest videos cus I'm interested in the same. I don't really understand half the things you're talking about, but can tell you're passionate about this. If the price isn't too much, I'd probably be happy with the one you picked as well lol.
If not, its cool, thanks again for the knowledge
It's a Joying unit. I still need to make measurements, but it seems to have better functionality and offer more options for a similar price.
hi, I have bought this exact atoto head unit for my megane 2 in which I have put renault cabasse woofers and tweeters. I want to tune it because as much as the sound is somewhat fine, I want to pull as much as I can from it and maybe figure out why my head hurts from listening to music on it.
my question is, you say that for best result we should tune left and right speakers rather than front and left. does that mean I should rewire the factory outputs so lets say, the left front and rear speaker is marked as front, and right front and rear speakers are marked as rear?
Can I use a Bluetooth microphone or it should be a big one like in the video?
You can use any mic with a 3.5 mm jack.
Hey mate what kinda of system would you advise for around 1000 quid. Do you have any recommendations on maybe affordable active front stage with a sub perhaps.
A 6ch dsp/amp, a 3way from SB acoustics, Dayton, Faital pro and a used sub with used monoblock.
Thanks man
When you usually take measurements, do you sit in the passengers or the drivers seat? (or the rear?)
I sit in the driver seat
@@RAW-CAt Cool thanks. Would you usually move the seat slightly further back so you get the mic in the position where your head usually is when driving? And you use the moving mic method with 100ish averages I assume?
@@Gershy13 i wave the mic around the head in the listening position. No need to move the seat back.
@@RAW-CAt Great! Thanks. I'm gonna see what the best I can do with REW and the imm6 in my stock Corsa D (with Teyes CC3 headunit)!
Have you ever come across any products that would allow you to decode Dolby Atmos in car audio?
Yes, old school Alpine head units.
@@RAW-CAtReally?
@@joebruce2180 yep, they were way ahead of it's time.
Mind sharing eq filters copied from atoto headunit?
It's not how it works. The EQ depends on speakers, their location and the car itself.
Why are they watching this channel if they can’t even bother using a mic for tuning? 🤣
Probably people are used to other channels where they just say that everything sounds great on "rap" eq preset😅
I’m not even 30 seconds into the video. My spanish friends told me that “toto” means “pussy” and you said Atoto after shewing away a cat. 🤣
😂😂😂
It doesn't mean pussy in Spanish.. maybe if it's slang like Panocha but that is also slang. La vagina is the only way you say it in Spanish, which in reality isn't any different from English.
What do you think about the Dayton audio 4 x 8 DSP
Cheap option, a lot of people complain about noise issues with those.
@@RAW-CAt is the minidsp 2x4 hd good enough
@@midbass.maestro that one is better.
Let me guess, u have an expensive apline headunit. At that point why to not just buy a dsp?
No, I don't have a head unit at all. Never had one. I do have a Helix DSP though. All I am trying to do is to teach people how to get better results with basic equipment.
@@RAW-CAt No no, the next thing that you will show us, the spoiler
@@elviscaragea4433haha, no Alpine is way too expensive😂something cheaper.
Don't use the cross over on the amp and the radio you have to use one or the other😮
Where did I use both?
"its cheap" hahaha yeah right. In my country nobody stocks the "cheap ones" so i have to convert to dollars or pounds then import and pay import tax and uk/usa tax so it gets expensive.
I heard that if you use measurement mode you don't "need" a calibrated microphone as badly as you would need one in RTA?
6 minutes inn, and you already have to "sheet" to use the eq function. That defeat the purpose of "normal" system.
Standard or custom?! One ore the other!!
This is what you have to do to get better tuning capabilities🤷 Two speakers im the front and a sub seems pretty standard to me, nothing custom about it.
@RAW-CAt about 99% of all car I have ever seen. Have front left/right and rear left/right = 4 speakers ( not adding separate tweets)
Just say the eq is useless.
Ps: love what you do, I have learned almost all of rew from your channel.
@@f.j.z3213and every time anyone gives advice about SQ, the first thing being suggested is to get rid of rear speakers.
That shit is so confusing🥴
What part exactly? I am happy to point you to the right direction if you are willing to learn😊
@RAW-CAt you can't please everyone
