Don't try to fix install mistakes with tuning
This is an example how an install overview can fix the problems. Even if I demonstrate how you can fix some issues, it is not the best practice to do this.

Very nice exhibition and plenty of details I was hoping to learn. Thanks - 16:20 love to know if it works, as well XD *All you need to know about tweeters | Tweeters 101*
Hi! How about using drivers from older but decent 3 way home speaker into an active system? Been wondering about taking drivers from old B&O s45 for example. Maybe I’m weird :) Woukd need to high pass the woofer pretty high since doors make bad enclosures and use sub under 100. Thanks for the videos. Learning a lot and get to daydream about what could be :)
very helpfu;, thanks alot
Please put link to wiring, thanks for video 😊
You can find it in REW manual in the "impedance" section.
I got an additional coil on the back of my tweeter how does it impact the sound its producing?
okaaayyy.. so.. my cabasse 8200069125A is a dome tweeter? did I get it right? or its some mix due to the plastic cover on the top
Looks to be a dome tweeter. The plastic is for protection acting as a grill.
I bought one of their 9" headunits for my car and its a damn bad experience. to fix anything with this unit you have to do da reset on the front panel just for it to work with anything you add. They do a lot of false advertising and their customer service si the worst. they take no accountability for the false advertisements, they say camera or steering wheel controls work and they don't! the work on certain models even though the advertise as it works. You email them about the steering wheel controls and rear camera doesn't work , just like their advertisement says these things will work wit h the plug and play kit, and it only works with certain models and don't say this in the ad, even though they sell you a plug and play kit with these features. their answer to things not working is " you're not happy? return!' but what about all the money spent to install and run and hide antennas, and a secondary fee to uninstall the unit and shipping to return the unit to china. I would think twice about this company just because of the customer service and the quality of the unit is not the greatest. WiFi works when it wants to, its just not worth the money in my opinion.
I’m installing 3 ways soon, would it be better if I put my mid in the dash in the factory location or custom mount it in the door with the tweeter and 6.5” driver?
It's always best to have the tweeter and midrange as close as possible and preferably on the same plane, take for instance near field bookshelf speakers they even at time overlap the two, so to make the sound come off as one.
Mids in dash will have a lot of boost at the lower frequencies. Mids in doors will roll off soon and the stage will sound "low". I would use the dash.
U just explain stuff so well. Genius. Thanks man.
good stuff
Another great video Nerijus. As far as I know there’s no one else on RUclips that puts out this kind of content. I was very intimidated a few years ago when I finally went fully active with a DSP, measuring and eq’ing and learning REW. Thanks to you now I’m really comfortable and confident in my tuning abilities. I change my tune and experiment all the time trying to get that last 10% out of my system. I hope these kind of videos will encourage others to not be afraid of tuning, but at the same time I hope it doesn’t hurt your remote tuning business. 😀
This is epic ❤ 👏 never seen this type of comparison 👍👍 Great job dude
How to hook up
Positive to positive, negative to negative.
Nice overview. Hopefully your AMT demo and explanation will help those unfamiliar with it's operation. So many enthusiasts really don't grasp fundamental differences in tweeter platforms. Good work. - You mentioned the lack of planar tweets in car audio, I have +40yr old planar magnetic Alpine tweeter modules! They're actually a two-way design, w/soft dome below and a waveguided planar magnetic above. They've not seen any signal voltage in decades! Circa '82 ish, they were my dash mounted high modules in a '76 Chevette! (three-way active 10", 5.25", and the Alpine tweets). It's stored, but I still have each component of that entire system. ----- ‐ Chinese knockoff of a Chinese Dayton?(!) - I'm not familiar with AMT polars orienting to the pleated direction. I don’t understand what's at play there. Have you tested that? Perhaps the grill perforations impact propagation(?). Absent a waveguide, conventional wisdom would suggest that is simply the radiating size of a driver's dimension that impacts polar behavior. Thank you. Always solid content! Much appreciated.
@RAW-CAt Hey, how do I contact you for distant tuning? Just today received Alpine status HDP-D90 . R2S653/2 installed, preping wires to go full active. What mic I should get for RTA? UMIK1 is readily available, maybe you have better ideas. Also looking into learning REW later down the road, your vids are very informative, big thanks and keep up.
Transducer Lab has pure ceramic dome, real BE domes and real carbon fiber domes.
Excellent 👍🏼
Just on the tweeter.. Personally, I was not mad at that -12 crossover. It followed the low end very nicely. It seems like you’re not using smoothing? I feel a bit of smoothing helps keep a well, smoother sound. The correction is not as “coarse”. I especially avoid boosting any more narrow than 3ish. Relating to the smoothness again. *also less bands will come up. I would have ignored whatever that 6.5k dip was. Leave it alone. It is what it is. Not afraid to shelf up the high end tho.
DMF?
I really like this format. This would have saved me weeks(or more) of learning back in the day.
Haha, same here😂
Rhahks
That energy that's radiated to the rear of an AMT tweeter.. Now imagine the blissful performance if that energy were to be present in the performance. Danish loudspeaker company Audiovector do precisely that with their in house custom made(as you said hand folded!) AMT being vented to the rear of the enclosure. Obviously not a concept that could work in an automotive installation.
Great, easy explanation! Thanks
Very nice and packed with information. I thank you for doing this for us. Even though I know more about car audio than 99% of people I know, there are still so many details you showed in this video that I find I don't fully understand. I need to do some more reading and video watching 😊 especially on setting levels to match target curves. I don't know when it's too little and when it's too much. You seem to know it by instinct 😂
Another great tuning video... this helped me out a lot for my install
Hi friend, i want to buy a calibration microphone but i couldn’t decide yet. Which one do you prefer for me. Behringer ecm 8000 or Dayton Audio Umm-6 Behringer is around 60-70 euros and the Dayton Audio Umm-6 is around 130-140 euros here… I will use for my system setup only. My system is 3 way active front speaker with p six and 12” sealed box with mono amplifier. Many thanks
Behringer does not have a calibration file, so I would buy the dayton.
@@RAW-CAt this is why ask you
Thanks for this Video it was very helpful. But I still have one question remaining. You often said with dsp/amps you have to bring down the channel gain so that the sum of eq and channel gain is not higher than 0db. But what if the input signal of the music is less than 0db? For example I like to listen to music with Spotify. If I have audio normalisation on normal Spotify plays tracks with -14db. If I have it off it plays music with -10 db. So I will never ever reach clipping. And to be honest why would someone want to play music with a 0db mastering ? I mean it is bloody loud at -10db already ?
If you know the levels and you know what you are doing boosting is not an issue. A lot of my viewers are newbies🙃
@@RAW-CAt I got another question would you ever recommend boosting a valley e.g -7 fb at like 160 hz. I mean the energy is only lost at your listening position. But it is there a chance that the energy is still inside the vehicle ? So that you do not notice the dip ?
@@Niclas0299 yes, that is correct. It's especially bad for tweeters when you are boosting the very top end. For the driver it will.sound pleasant and flat, but for the passenger it might be unbearable.
Nice video and informative.
Awesome example of how not to install your gear.... Thanks for the inside scoop.
Not every install has to hack up an interior. I thought the install was pretty clean and well done, and the best part is it's all reversable when you sell the vehicle. I personally would have picked up a spare set of tweeter grills and maybe surface-flush mounted them and covered with grill cloth, but I don't think that would be a huge improvement.
@@chrishuyler3580 yes I agree on the low key and factory location install but some sacrifices are to be made for example I own a vw Atlas and it comes with 2 ways from factory has to make room for and extra 2.5 morel wide range in what it was factory location for the tweeter in doors and moved the focal tweeters to the mirror cover position... So if you want better some hacking is unavoidable.
Excellent content. Looking forward to your next episode.
I have a new android 12 unit with the 9 inch screen, I have no stutters but I only use wireless android auto and the internal amp. After working good for 2 months, now a couple times it has skipped to the next track by itself, may be the unit, or may be an issue with a worn out steering wheel button. My main problem is the screen is too dim during the day even after going into locked options and setting to 100%, and no one else seems to have the same issue.
Amazing video! Very interesting and useful information! Looking forward for the second part with measurements. Thank you!🎉🎉
Hang in there. It gets better after going tru all this.
Generally you fuse for the wires amp capacity not from what the source can put out or demand.
What a great video!!!

I am interested to see how the Planar magnetic performs. Good stuff Nijerus
Exlent work ❤❤❤
How many watts rms have your system in total in order to use 35 mm welding cable? Thanks
My amplifiers have much more power available than I need. All combined on max volume probably around 1000W.
Thanks for replying. My system will be about 2k watts rms so I will need to run 50 mm cable rated to 300 amps or so
I’m running those same Dayton Audio PTMini6 Planar Tweeter! I’m glad someone reviewed them so far!
You are very good at explaining this stuff. Cool to know exactly why the SB acoustics tweeter has the 'dimple'. I am still curious exactly how similar planar magnetic and folded ribbon technologies are to each other. Really looking forward to your comparison videos.
99% of "ceramic" tweeters are aluminium oxide. basically it's just a deep anodized aluminium but "ceramic" sells better than "anodized" )
hello do you know what type of AKM Chipset in Helix DSP Pro MK3?
@ 6:25 Geezus!... that a lot of Neo for a Tweeter! I never seen a tweeter with that many big neo magnets before!
Looks like a Scan Speak clone ... for years they've offered their Air-Circ dome tweeters w/six neo magnets arranged like that.
Great video and explanation. Thank you for all your hard work. 😁💯
There are like 5,000 models of tweeters in the market. It's insane.
Just curious, did you buy the loopback cable or made it yourself?
I make all my cables.
Thanks for the info, I learned a lot from this video!!! 😃🙏👍
