- Every build should start with a quality source. Head unit replacement should be a pretty straight forward job, but it never is.

The excitement of starting a new build cannot be contained! The enthusiasm in this video is awesome!
good to see i'm not the only one starting with headunit and right after that speakers... leaving the woofer last :)
Hi i'm commenting because algprithims and stuff, i hope your wildest dreams come true
Vote for Pedro.
Good start. I've never been the big Car-Audio guy and meanwhile I use what the car comes with. Back in my youth I had some nice headunits and they could push the basic speakers a bit more and got way better sound.
Nice start. Looking forward to the build.
Hu is great. Way better than the atoto. The interior looks 10years fresher now
Have you considered measuring the Merkede DUDU7 / DUDUAUTO unit? I've read that the Joying output still converts digital signal to analog before optical output because of the TDA 7851 chip, and DUDU7 has a TDA 7808 which supposedly supports full digital processing. I've been using Joying myself.
Reached out to dudu, but got no reply🤷
@@RAW-CAt OK I've mailed them about testing options as well, I'll let you know if I hear anything. Would be an interesting comparison for sure
I always start with the headunit. Garbage in, Garbage out. That's it.
Great start!
Maybe one day you can get an Alpine Halo HU, to top off your Alpine equipment.
I have a joying headunit, but 12 inches and with a volume knob so you can change volym without touching the screen. And it's really amazing how hard it can be getting all the right stuff you need for your install.. 🤷♂️ And how mNy youtube videos you kneed to look at before you have found all the settings!! 😝❤️🇸🇪
I like to start with electrical first, basshead problems i know
Which is better Joying or Atoto. Did you you ever resolve the frequency response issue with the joying or do you just eq it flat 1st.
Keep up the great work!
Atoto is faster and more responsive. I like the Joying because of the bigger screen and coax output. Atoto has only optical. Nothing wrong with that, just prefer coax. In general, both are great.
I am not a fan of the bass processors, I would rather swap out the head unit.
What do you mean by bass processor?
Same
@jjay2650 I would like to know what you two mean by "bass processors".
If you're referring to the Audio Control Epicenter, I've had great results with it. The imitation versions by other companies are not quite as good, but the original does a fantastic job and sounds great.
EQ is the king :D
Imo if only OEM units would have an option of "pro eq" with let's say 12 bands, we would be able to make any factory system at least bearable, if only...
The key is to have individual EQ per side. To match L and R.
@ sure, but even general leveling for all channels makes a huge difference.
I'd be tempted to put a really nice single din unit in the glove box and a tablet in the dash.
I will be looking for an old school Alpine with all the flashing lights or an EQ just to see some lights bouncing🥰
@@RAW-CAt I love old school Alpines
I have a comparable car. Golf mk7. But my frequency response needs to be about 20db negative slope between 20hz and 20khz to sound linear. Do you use white noise for the acoustical measurements?
If measuring with RTA we use pink noise.
That switched power supply (ACC) is not wired correct , in this car you need can bus interface to generate acc 12v with ignition in first position and switch off only after key removed from ignition plug, not in second position with all accesories on. like you have got now, cause you will drain your battery soon.
Hm, to be honest I didn't notice that the car has 1st and second position 😂 but to be honest, I am planning to put a manual switch for the ACC anyway like I had in the Insignia so it's not really an issue. But thank you for pointing it out👍
@@RAW-CAt Or on some skoda/vw cars you can find that analog switch signal directly in ignition module, it is much more comfortable than manual ACC switch
You sure this is true? I used a fuse tap for ACC signal to the head unit (Alpine single din) and I haven't had any battery drain issues yet. It's been installed for a month now and the car is a 2006 Golf 5 so the CAN bus is not updated version either. It has a constant connection to the battery, the ACC is just for ON/OFF signal not switched power afaik.

Yes you need it work like oem head unit - it switch on with ACC first position and switch off only after you remove key from ignition.
Nice job on the custom brackets 💪
Do you have any measurements of the door speakers with the default settings on the deck set to flat (ie no xo, no eq, no ta)
Yes, just a few videos back:
ruclips.net/video/D3t33jCqNyU/видео.html
@@RAW-CAt No I meant after you installed the new aftermarket head unit. Do you have any measurements of the door speakers with the new aftermarket head unit default settings set to flat (ie no xo, no eq, no ta
@@sqaudiott its here at the end of the video:
ruclips.net/video/pCDH8wrrAJA/видео.html
So basically there was no difference in response of the speakers when you changed the head unit and kept all the settings flat/default for both the new head unit and the old head unit? Because I saw in the video you applied crossover settings and boosted and cut some frequencies on the new aftermarket head unit, so the settings wasn’t flat/ default settings on the new deck in this video
These android headunits are so much more superior than the mainstream brands. I spent almost 2 hours in the local shop trying tod decide which mainstream hesdunit to get but I just wasn't satisfied with the mediocre screen quality and basic UI.
I think most head unit manufacturers got frozen in time as they use the same tech for the last 10 years. The modern ones with all bells and whistles will cost you a kidney. Quality Android units are indeed superior, just don't buy the 100 dollar ones😂
@RAW-CAt I agree. I was on the verge of buying the Sony 9550ES or the alpine ILX905 but just couldn't convince myself. I've seen better quality screens on a Nintendo DS. I recently ended up purchasing a Mekede DUDU7 which has 12gb ram and 512gb storage etc. That wasn't cheap but I know it will be able to do so much more than the mainstream brands but the added benefit of a proper hi definition screen.
Hi i need the iso connector for the same car, can you link it please?

Swapepd out my head unit and then installed sub. Factory door speakers suck so I should have replaced them before installing sub.
The factory head unit may have had a built-in EQ curve to make the speakers sound descent. So you might need to add a DSP or at least re EQ the factory speakers.
@@JasonWW2000 Aftermarket head unit made speakers sound noticeably better and cleaner than with factory head unit.
I'm getting DSP later when everything else is done.
@CoreMaster111 Thats really odd. Maybe the factory headunit was fairly old and had no EQ curve built in?
Typically, the factory will put super cheap speakers in the vehicles and then put a factory EQ curve into the head unit to try and make them sound half way decent.
At least now, you're ready for a full aftermarket sound system. If your new head unit has certain DSP functionality (like a decent number of EQ bands and time delay), you might be able to get by without a standalone dsp. It just depends on how serious you wanna get with it. 👍
@@JasonWW2000 Stock head unit is really cheap crap and speakers are also really cheap crap. After all my car was really cheap crap when it was new 10 years ago.
I have Sony XAV-AX 3005DB. It has mediocre EQ and also found out sound signal clips at 27-28 out of 50 volume. lmao
Otherwise works great.
I already have new 2 way component speakers and amp so I am doing install soon enough.
Clips at half volume? That doesn't sound right. Have you verified this?
Do you have an oscope? You can get one for around $50 and run a zero dB tone and measure the rca output.
Usually, the rca might clip right at max volume or sometimes not at all.
Now, if you're talking about the amplified speaker outputs, then most manufacturers add a bit of gain overlap. So you might see them clip around 75% to 85% of the volume.
Maybe I have missed it but how are you going to enter car menu?
What menu? The only thing I found on the factory head unit is the gauge cluster lighting adjustment🤷
@@RAW-CAt If you press CAR it shows faults. For example tyre leak, when you change tyre size it will show bad tyre and you have to teach it that it is good. It can also happen when tempeature gets from normal to cold. I am not sure how are you going to do this
@@kiklop8362 my car does not have tpms sensors..
Joying does make some interfaces that work with certain model vehicles, but I don't think this car needs it.
@@RAW-CAt you do not need to have it. I believe ABS sensor is used to calculate rotations and when it is different = flat
O ko tu tikėjaisi dabar visų auto tokia sistema ekranas o blokas kazkur 😊
Its a ShSKoda , you should buy a bib or a jumpsuit , get used to northern european repairs
I did repair some things already. I like that to be honest, lets me to know the car better and prepare for cutting IB😎
