I don't have much experience with head units, but i just upgraded from Hondas basic 5" Bluetooth radio to this. It's a great upgrade. UI is responsive.
After shopping for weeks I ended up buying this unit, the DMX958XR. Insanely awesome head unit! Installed in my 2003 4runner SR5. I also found out how to change the boot logo to Toyota using 2 files on a flash drive and putting the unit in standby mode.
Have a step by step guide to change boot screen? I talked to Kenwood and they said the 958XR is not compatible with boot screens only the older models.
Yes 5 volt pre out I’ve had the previous model the dmx957xr since early ‘21 and it still works fine. Hd camera looks best at dawn or dusk but better than any other camera system I’ve seen the rest of the time. Mine runs a Zapco dsp with all 6 inputs occupied. When I pass the airport in San Jose the Bluetooth signal cuts out but picks up after a few seconds. Maybe once every two months it will randomly shut off, and reboot all by itself but picks up the music or the route on the nav after it comes back on. Other than that it’s worked fine beyond warranty. I’m confident this one will too. I wish they’d come out with this in 10” and I’d get that next.
Wish I could change the head unit in my truck, but it’s not an option. With more vehicles going with the option of not being able to replace head units how are manufacturers gonna stay around making head units?
Stearing wheel controls control the volume, next and previous tracks, answering and hanging up the phone. Knobs are going the way of the cassette players now. All voice controls are coming soon with AI integration.
Kenwood needs to ditch that. Hideous interface as an afterthought, I'm still watching alpine makes this head unit look like, Connection. It's from the 1800s oh absolutely. Love the beautiful, big voltage widget too in the alpine units. God damn this UI minus and out of date and then it's not the layout game downward. And for the front at least you can adjust. It's the look of it. It's disgusting itself and that's flat. You have some precincts here but you can choose so, All right, the sound effects and then you have the auto memory here. So that's all the two movies on this. It's really going to give you a nice HD display on that small screen. Okay, that'll do it for example. Okay let's do the pros and cons pros, wireless Apple carplay and warmless android Auto and industry. Best five vote pre-out front rear sub. I definitely mice for compatible and HDMI input and HD rear camera in foot, which I think is huge wireless mirroring for Android phones, and they expandability to do up to four cabinets. And, of course, this Superior sound quality that this radio brings to the table. All right, now pause not a lot here except for it is a little bit pricey. Also it would have been nice to have higher resolution output like an optical or coax output that can support 192 kilohertz. But there really is no demand on that feature. So for the 99.95 percent of those that could deal with the five volt pre-out, you're going to be perfectly fine. Okay, I'm going to give this radio a full start rating deservingly. So you got lots of great features, great warranty and of course again if in this radio will leave a link in the description below. Taking directly to the product page. We hope you guys enjoyed this video. If you did, make sure to like And subscribe again. My name is Josh. I'm going to break your stereo and performance and we'll see you on the next one. These two models are very similar, but have a very subtle and important difference. Now on paper, and in
Awesome channel guys! I wondering what solutions you guys have for someone who wants to keep the factory radio. Are there DSPs out there that read Bluetooth nowadays?
The one I have must be the Kenwood model right before this one, they look almost exactly alike, with the same features and the same user interface. I love mine. I've had my Kenwood for 4 years now with no problems. I just keep finding new things that it can do that make me love it even more. We get what we pay for with this one. I'd say that this Kenwood shown here is the best I've ever seen.
i have honda civic 2010, i want to upgrade with stereo system but i am consufed which one to buy. Please suggest me. My major use will be apple car play good quality of sound while playing music and good quality microphone.with reverse camera. I am from australia
I have an older Lexus GX 470, it has climate control and Mark Levinson sound, Im dying to change the stock head unit- but can’t find anything to work other than some “tesla” style unit. Any ideas if this will work? or have any other suggestions
Random question....have you heard if any of the kit makers (Metra/Scosche) are interested in making their quality kits for Android stereos? Seems to me that's a big market they may be missing. Perhaps they feel they've already lost that game to China.
I would buy this buy it wont be worth it in a vehicle that probably doesnt have any resale value lol ill just stick with a basic apple carplay/ andriod auto headunit lol for $350.
Why are you saying this is the "best"? How is it the best? At what? Sound quality? NO, Alpine F#1 Status will put anything else to shame. Usability, maybe, but Pioneer and Sony both have comparable decks that perform as well. This is a very competitive area in the market and Kenwood is making a very good unit, but I would not buy this for sound quality, I already own the Alpine F#1 Status and love it!
Alpine doesn't make an F1 status head unit. So if you're comparing it to Alpines standard double din this mops the floor with the Alpine, which pains me to say as I've always been a big fan of Alpine head units
Still not as good at the 10 series floating display, I'm guessing it's aimed at a group of people who need shallow mount but still, kenwood has literally brought nothing new in four years. Not a thing they need to hurry up and bring coax and toss, link outputs because everyone's jumping on the DSP bandwagon and RCAs alike so 2004 🤮 i'm not against them as an added bonus, but toss Lincoln coax a fast Superior, and almost impervious to noise, They also need canned bus integration for dynamic lines they're HD camera is actually amazing. I own it I also owned the European version of the 10 inch floating display but I now have a car I had to integrate with and everything in it was better quality anyway the interface needed was very expensive I'm sure you're aware of the navs tv a MOST150 again though. Well worth it and that is six volt pre-outs. Like Kenwood, what are you even doing? They've been making this s*** for years and yeah, it is better than most of the other brands on the market has so freaking hard? To make decent pre-out. Op amps I think Sony. Yes is the winner as far as SQ direction goes anyway they can also use the miestro RR as well.

I've always loved kenwood excelon head units. I've put them in every car I've owned.

How does this stack up against the alpine ilx 507?

All these fancy feature yet it lacks the most important one, a KNOB!!!
Then get the single din or the tablet one lol.

Would be nice to see a follow-up video on speakers to pair with this head unit. 😅
Any thoughts on the Alpine ILX F511 Vs HEIGH10+??
I’m on the fence with going with a kenwood or an android head unit like an eonon , what are your thoughts ?
Will it run my old Kenwood minidisc changer?
Come on Kenwood sort it out!
I currently have the Pioneer DMHzf8350 and I am tempted to ditch for the Kenwood DMX9720xs. Is it really worth the switch ? Advise me guys .

hi can you recommend an aftermarket head unit for a 2014 Mercedes CLA 250?
Can this head unit connect to a smart tv. Is it possible
could you review the new jensen car140mw? floating 10inch screen for $500. been on the edge of buying or not
I just bought the DMX-958xr. I chose it over the Sony Xav 9500es.
More info please, what are those reasons?
How much are these running $299 ? Still using my old Alpine CD player and looking to upgrade it's been 20 years.
It’s like $850 on Crutchfield
I see my 9720 unit. Nothing more. While my 9720 has a floating 10.1" display😂
Is it better then Alpine iLX-W770?
Yes.
