Hey y’all companies! Please send Jake some of your stuff so we can get a realistic and brutally honest assessment of your gear. We can use the info he provides, Jake can use the new equipment, and you guys will get an honest and fair exposure of your gear !Win,win, win !
Hi Jake, I installed the Atoto F7 XE in my '05 RX8 and it has been great. I also installed the backup camera and it has been surprisingly clear. It also comes on faster than the unit boots up, just FYI. The screen protector did not work so well and I removed it. The axxess kit was not necessary for my car (even though I ordered one) and I mapped the steering wheel controls directly through the radio. I was able to put a different wallpaper on my radio to match the car better by downloading a .jpeg through a memory stick. Thanks for the great content and keep up the good work!
I actually bought one of these to install for a friend. It was the android-based one and it worked pretty well and sound quality was quite good when using Android auto/apple carplay or playing RUclips videos through the radio. Only issue I ever had was distortion when using Bluetooth and in order to hear anybody on a call you have to turn up the volume way louder than you should have to and when it goes back to music it is way way way too loud
Purchased the same unit for my 2016 RAM 1500 Tradesman and installed it two weeks ago. Works pretty damn good, considering it's full blown Apple Carplay/Android Auto in a decent 7in screen for under half the price of your Pioneer and likewise units. After updating the firmware (if yours keeps resetting the date/time every day or so, a firmware update fixes that), it's perfectly..... adequate for everything.
If you have an Android Phone, the Axcess SWC can be programmed with an app. You need a USB C to USB A adapter and a Micro USB to USB A cable. Once you install the app connect the adapter to the phone and you can program it with the app. Beats trying to figure out the blink codes.
Atoto are great. I have a A6 Pro PRB which is now about 3yrs old. It has the Toshiba Class A amp with 27 watts RMS per channel. It honestly sounds awesome. I can turn it up to max volume as far as it goes and there is zero distortion. The only downside of mine is it has a slower CPU and is a bit laggy. I would need to get the S8 Premium to get the same sound amp chip.
I had one of these in my MR2 for a couple days. I was overall happy with it and liked that it didn’t run Android, but I had to remove it. It just didn’t sound as good as my pioneer 4000NEX it replaced. It’s worth noting the speakers in the MR2 are small and never going to sound great, but that was a major downside with the ATOTO for me.
10% THD is usually absolute max power. Its a crazy high number, but they do that in order to show higher power output numbers. If you measured the power where it hits say 1% it wouldn't look as impressive. Feeding an amp it doesn't even matter.
Hey Jake, how are your fuel trims? If you’re still having issues , what’s often overlooked even with a new MAF is the MAF connector. The connector wears out and will throw lean or rich codes. I got a new connector assembly and new wires and spliced them and voila- fuel trims stabilized.
See what a good salesman you are? You plug it and it sells out. Awesome. Great video as always. Looking forward to your next video. Enjoy your day/ evening.
it's a hit and miss on these Chinese android stereos. What I experienced about them is the wireless/hotspot connectivity when you have an iPhone (it doesn't connect automatically) I also have a unit that suddenly turns blank and needs to be disconnected/reconnected to return back to life (it randomly does this). The min level also seems high. I think for the price they are very decent but Pioneer/Kenwood beats them in terms of software and hardware stability.
@100PercentJake Got the same model this summer and love it. A few quirks with my CarPlay but AA work flawlessly. I did test my head unit clipping test with a Oscilloscope and I was shocked it did not clip at all at full volume (50!)!!
Some things to mention 1. The 10% thd is with 29W rms... Most major brand units advertising 1% are under 20w rms and I've seen some tests somewhere where someone got a 1% number in the 18ish range 2. The one I recently got is slightly different with the location of some of the connectors 3. I can only speak for mine and one other person I've found so far on reddit but I can't get Siriusxm to work at all, and need to do some more searching but so far haven't found anyone claiming it works 4. The lack of crossover options in the audio settings is going to end up being the deal breaker for me, if you're not running a sub or have external crossover then this is a good option
Jake I'm going to be honest with you. I was contemplating picking up one of the newer units with a six and a half inch screen from Kenwood cuz I found a special on it for $300. But after watching that review definitely not going to do it. The Kenwood I was looking at did have DSP, but I like the interface of that. Simplistic gets the job done and for what I can tell her from your review it's not jittery or tweaking out the screen has solid performance. Thank you for the very informative review.
I have an Atoto A6 in my truck and love it, but using any navigation app (Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze) they're all laggy and don't seem to update directions when making a turn. Is this an issue with the F7 as well or do I have some sort of fixable software issue that can easily be resolved?
This was great Jake. I've been looking at various inexpensive options for a 2004 Envoy that we own as a tow vehicle. It cost $1300 and isn't in great shape, so it isn't worth a $500 head unit, but I still want phone compatibility and a camera input, and at this price point am OK with a wired connection.
My current f7 has had connection issues recently. And my metra Access wasn't able to work either but the clue to go to setting 8 (if I can get it to recognize my buttons...) Is helpful to know
Yikes!! I think I will let someone who knows Bosch do any installs for me. That is terrifying!! Hope it works. Multiplexed wiring scares the crap out of me. I'm used to big, old, simple Ford's from the 70s. This Bosch stuff is a black art, even if mine is 33 years old!

How is the Bluetooth latency? That's the ONE thing that drives me absolutely insane on my Subaru and Toyota stock head units. It legitimatly takes 3-4 seconds to pause, after hitting the button. Or change volume. Or change song/skip 15secs on podcasts.
I installed the same head unit in my LR3. I found that Google Maps over wireless has a slight delay, enough to be annoying while driving. I then learned that you can access CarPlay via USB instead of wirelessly and the hard connection eliminated that delay between phone and head unit. I installed a rear camera and it looks great. I haven’t installed my front camera yet, but the front camera input was one of the reasons I went with this ATOTO.
Do you know which is latest? A series and f series? And what’s the difference? All I can tell is one has physical buttons and the other doesn’t, what else is different and which is the newest?
I have the Atoto SA102 which is the older version of the f7 and it has a steering wheel control adapter built in. You sure you didn’t see it on the harness? I didn’t need the access adapter on my ‘06 Miata.
I just installed the F7 xe in my truck yesterday but It doesn't have the boot screen logo option. In this video the boot logo setting is right below the video prohibition setting but on my unit there is nothing below that setting. You think it will be on there if I update the device?
Man, I know it's cheap but I don't trust cheap head units. You get what you pay for and usually it's a sub par DAC. If you're running a 4/5way amp and plan on amplifying every speaker then go for it but if you don't want to run the speakers to an amp just get a decent head unit.

So you can’t program R/T because this button is used as a toggle between the MFL buttons addressing the radio and the factory phone. When no factory phone is present, the MFL defaults to “pinging” the TEL module for its presence, which is likely not what this module expects (all other button presses are MFL queries to the radio, with command 0x3B or 0x32 in the case of the volume button). Not that you care to know any of this 🤪
I got an F7 Xe 7". Wired it perfectly with a kit and harness to Honda Element. Everything is ok, wireless android auto, etc. But as soon as I turn the key off it starts losing time a few minutes at a time. It remembers all presets and eq, etc. If I don't turn it on all night it will go back to January 1st, 1970. Still remembers presets. It won't let the phone sync up because the dates don't match. I have to reset all that info in order for the phone to sync. If I'm using it and shut it off for 4 minutes the clock will have lost 4 minutes. As soon as I syce the phone up and it will adjust the clock to the phone. Sucks, I'm about to send it back. Have you run into that?
