I live in an area of the country where they are resettling the Afghan refugees. I happend to talk to a young couple at the park where our kids were playing a few weeks ago. During our conversation the topic of the generosity of the American gov't came up and they told me that they are provided with housing, medical, a monthly stipend and daycare for their children all compliments of the American taxpayer. Will Kentukians get the same treatment?

Surely there is some sort of design which would make houses and other structures much more robust when such weather occurs. I did read of a man who has built such a property and has survived intact with little to no damage when all around him has not.
