What's even cooler is that NIO supports the replacement of batteries of different capacities, which means that you can upgrade your battery at any time after buying a car, and support flexible upgrades by day, month, and year. The flexible upgrade means that you choose to buy the model with the smallest battery life, because even the smallest battery life is enough for your daily commute to get off work. Come to think of it, the battery supports physical replacement, meaning: 1. Faster charging speed, get a fully charged battery in 5 minutes 2. Flexible battery capacity strategy, you can temporarily upgrade the battery before going on a high-speed trip. It also only takes 5 minutes, no appointment required 3. Thing is that the German Luxury standard is increasingly at threat and it also depends on what you define "luxury". Whilst Germans might still have the best driving pleasure, premium Chinese brands have overtaken when it comes to several features (luxury?) such as range, charging speed, optional battery swaps, number of sensors, LIDARS amongst others. The doors' interior panels on the EQS shake visibly when you open and close the doors LOL. Seeing how Nio and Tesla or just any other large EV brand, are making cars, I can't help but wonder if Mercedes felt they were lacking behind too much, and desperately needed to prove they are still THE luxury brand (of course, RR and Bentley are beter but between Audi, BMW and MB, I'd consider MB to be the best one). It's my personal opinion that cars with lots of screens, especially those with giant piano black bezels are cheap-feeling, 'cause that how relatively cheap cars are made in China. Cheaper (price-wise, not saying their bad cars) brands like Roewe and MG, as well as cheaper China-specific Fords all have (multiple) giant screens, but no one would look at them and go "wow, that's a beautiful interior". Plus, the materials and features found in the E class in this video or the EQS are pretty standard in Chinese domestic cars (above the $50k mark). Granted, there aren't that many Chinese domestic cars sold above 50k USD, but my point is I've been spoiled by the tech and features bundled into affordable cars here in China, so the interiors of the EQ series from MB look so bland to me. We are working on that as I type this, but there are apparently zero press cars. We were told the best we could hope for would be to borrow one from a dealership for 3 hours, but that’s obviously not enough time to do a thorough review. We’ll just have to wait and hope IM makes more test cars available.
I haven’t got the opportunity to drive a ET7 here in China. Compare the ES8 driving performance it comes closer to BMW as Mercedes. The advantage of BMW and Mercedes are more noticeable on bumpy curved roads. Interior design of Nio is perfect and with its lower prices compare to the German once’s a excellent advantage. ET7 have for me so far only 2 negative points: 1. Panorama roof has no full inside cover and is therefore in my opinion not suitable for south China Summer Sunny days 2. As most Chinese cars it is not comfortable for tall drivers as the head touch the roof and leg room limited - it might be a little disadvantage in Europe.
@wheelsboy love the content and waiting for you Nio EC7 video. I just test drove it in ShangHai yesterday and pretty mind blown by it....owns a 2020X5 back home and felt my rig s dated. Love to see what you think. We are moving to China part time starting next month and was considering a Li Auto (also seen on your channel), but after trying the EC7 we are heavily leaning towards the Nio. What do you think? L8 s like a house on wheels.... but the EC7 reminds me why I loved driving, cars in the first place. I'm surfing the net in exciting today on vid reviews of the thing. Cant wait for your EC7 vid drop.
We probably won’t do the EC7, as we already drove the ES7 and the only difference between them seems to be roofline. When it comes to Li Auto vs NIO, both are good options, but the NIO is certainly the one that drives better. As you said, the L8 is basically a living room on wheels, which makes it an amazing family car, but not a great driving experience.
I was waiting for a refreshed, purely electrified classic E (just like the one in the video with minimalist styled grill), but all I waited is a much, much larger Mercedes badge, so disappointed.
Are you sure the Mercedes has leather? The doors and seats look vinyl to me. I find most Mercedes to look nice, but overall quality is meh and everything creeks (BMWs feel a lot higher quality IMO).
The “leather” inside the Mercedes was actually synthetic (they call it MB-Tex), which we should have made more clear in the video. It is very soft, but not as nice as the ET7’s nappa leather. If anything, it further drives home the value presented by the ET7 in comparison to the Mercedes, at least as they are priced here in China.
Personally think the L versions that MB has in China market was a complete success. Can’t see why other places don’t have it🤔 maybe because ppl can drive bigger cars with their license else where?? ( in China, licenses are classified by number of seats and car length, usually a general person can only drive up to a 7 sit minivan 🤔🤔
I hope there will be ET9 coming out in next few years which can be an electric S class. BTW I think if ET3 or ET1 come out, they will probably be compact hatchbacks

We are working on that as I type this, but there are apparently zero press cars. We were told the best we could hope for would be to borrow one from a dealership for 3 hours, but that’s obviously not enough time to do a thorough review. We’ll just have to wait and hope IM makes more test cars available.
how much is a nice??
Awesome review my man no bs straight to the point
Thanks for this video!
Panorama roof has no full inside cover and is therefore in my opinion not suitable for south China Summer Sunny days
2. As most Chinese cars it is not comfortable for tall drivers as the head touch the roof and leg room limited - it might be a little disadvantage in Europe.
I am 1.9m and I have enough space in the front and the back. The back seat gives me 1-2 fingers of space. But taller then that, it might become tight.
I agree with you point about the roof not having a physical cover. Driving any car without a physical sun blocker under the summer sun is not fun.
Nice to hear analysis of how it stacks up to a Benz. How about BMW?
Great review!
I like the IM L7 better than the et7. they are both better than german premium ice sedans of course.
Could you doing a review on changan sl03/ shenlan 03..
I absolutely love the design of the ET7 aside from the LIDAR on top. That just ruins the line for me.
At the same price, I will definitely buy the BYD TANG DMP, a large SUV, 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.
Nio Nio Nio😀
This stock is like Tesla at the beginning. It's gonna blow in a couple of years and then I will sit back and relax. Goooo NIO
Awesome video, but I would like to know more about the ADAS features on the Nio. I thought that it would work better with the extra hardware?
It hasn't been rolled out yet
Great video
I bought NIO.
let's go NIO
Well presented. Do you think the ET7 could replace Mercedes as a Diplomatic Vehicle!
nio more like bmw, sports and youth, but it is not suitable for diplomacy
Kinda reminds me of a London Taxi with that roof but the rest of the car is stunning!!
He said it right. Old school luxury.
Love your content. Keep it up bro
Look forward to IM L7 review. It is even better looking and more enjoyable to drive than ET7.
Way less expensive too
Nio is so much better
can you maybe put the mic sound louder , thanks
16 minutes. This is the longest review video on this channel.
2 cars :)
ET7 vs EQE would be a good match.
EQE is so ugly and overpriced.
I liked your shirt man What brand is it?
Two different eras...
if i were a rich guy, id take that rear leg room/space. plenty space for stretching the legs and or putting bags things there
Awesome Nio!
The color, the black not is a nice choice in both cars
15:22 NOT TRUE.... NIO IS DESIGNED IN MUNICH CLOSE TO BMW BY SOME OF THE BEST ENGINEERS/DESIGNERS THEY COULD GET,....
as luxurious as the Benz is, I wouldn't go for it. For me, the looks, and style of the NIO fits me best. And I think that goes for most Millennials.
the green license plate on these two decent cars are disaster
better than to pay for norml ones
个人喜好吧,我比较喜欢新能源车牌
@@terracecar1 我更喜欢便宜的车牌
Looks AMAZING! $NIO
The rivalry of ET7 should be EQE. Theoretically, the E 350eL should not be concluded as EV.
This problem has been explained in the video. Currently, the Mercedes-Benz EQE is not available in China.
The E class looks like a toy besides the ET7
Personally think the L versions that MB has in China market was a complete success. Can’t see why other places don’t have it🤔 maybe because ppl can drive bigger cars with their license else where?? ( in China, licenses are classified by number of seats and car length, usually a general person can only drive up to a 7 sit minivan 🤔🤔
Other markets seem to want SUV over sedans....
yea same here tho
This video is all about class
ET7, ET 5. Sooo will there be an ET3 aaaand ET1 I may hope? Would love to se an ET1
I hope there will be ET9 coming out in next few years which can be an electric S class. BTW I think if ET3 or ET1 come out, they will probably be compact hatchbacks
@@Gouliguo Don´t mind hatchbacks but i love saloons more
I'm all for a fastback ET6.
and et0.5
@@不说话我就看看-w1d Great idea
Ethan, I am watching your channel for the first time today. All the way for Africa, South Africa please take off the sunglasses if you don’t mind…
I drove a Mercedes before and now a model x, man I miss that mb interior every time I sit in the Tesla cabin! I hope nio didn't go that far as Tesla in terms of "minimalistic" interior design.
I really love Nio, but after the hyperscreen of Mercedes, the Tesla style interior looks a bit stale, suddenly. The voice recognition is second to none, though
