I drove the NIO EL7 last month in Berlin, Germany and by far it’s been the best EV I have driven. NIO vehicles offer top notch design, comfort and performance. I currently have a Tesla Model X and I can’t wait to buy a NIO, I am interested in the ES8 or EC7. I hope NIO comes soon to the US!

@@AIAddict Similar priced? It actually does not sell in Europe because it's a lot more expensive than Tesla. Secondly the import tarrifs in EU are much lower than USA. Here it's only 10%. That's why China enters Europe. But still Nio does not sell, i have seen a few Nio's on the road. 2 times. The ET5 and ET7 are good looking. But here the Dutch people are not dumb, they look also in other details of the car and especially they are super frugal and want value for their money. And then decide for the 40K Tesla Model 3 over a 63K Nio ET5 that even has less range!! Also the EU is about to increase the import tarrifs to protect European cars. Because we always had a low import tarrifs of 10% the french wants them to increase making Chinese cars even more expensive.

Let's be honest, it's not difficult. I drive a Jaguar XF and my boss bought a Tesla. I was shocked at how much lower the standard was compared to the Jag, especially given that my car is 14 years old.
In my Country Chile, we have so many Chinese Cars, Pick Ups, Trucks and Buses….at least 20 brands among Indian, Korean, American and European….(Changan, Foton, Maxus, JMC, Cherry, Bain, Brilliance, ZX, Dongfeng, Faw, Great Wall, Jac, and many more)…. I’ve heard all my life about how good is to have a free, open and competitive market, and I totally agree with…..it’s good to have options, so you decide which car suits you, according to your budget, size, needs, quality, technology, cost, depreciation, maintenance, etc.
You're probably in the red, shouldn/t buy chinese stocks. The second they enter Taiwan say goodbye to your money. You won't be able to take it out. Just like it happend in Russia when they entered Ukraine.
Great review, hands down. I've been closely following Weilai/NIO since the company joined the NYSE in 2018; thus, I'm familiar with the business model, vehicles, and numerous user-driven innovations. What I've not seen (for obvious reasons) are many, or any for that matter, reviews by U.S. content creators. Thanks for looking past the geopolitical turmoil between the two countries and focusing on what matters the most regarding this space, i.e., technology, innovations, safety, comfort, style, etc. I'm certainly an NIO fan and looking forward to the launch of their entire ecosystem in North America.
I am an 2020 ES8 owner. I switched to it from a Range Rover sports , and I've never regreted. Especially battery swap is free in China.I only pay 30 dollars yearly for the basic maintains.I believe that EV cars will dominate the car market very soon. (Sorry for my poor english)
I can see NIO in the SF bayarea with flagship NIO houses along with drive through swap stations(not backing into) and fast charges. Swap stations in the north, south and east bay would showcase the future of NIO. Go NIO!
drove the new EC7 yesterday on my trip in SH. and holy molly it is even 1.5 level above the ET7. the thing about that vehicle is the space, even more sculpted interior (if you can believe that). Love the added subtle details on the exterior and the overall line of the vehicle screams refinement, speed and class. Incredible SUV which reminds me seeing the X6 line for the first time more than a decade ago. Thought the EC7 would be the same car as ES7 with a slanted back, but i was mistaken. It is pretty much a different car which shares little to no panels. kinda mind blown by that actually. It sucks China US relations is screwed for reasons we don't understand.... this company is sick as heck.

I work in China on a contract… bought an EC7 about a year ago after mostly owning BMW M products before… all I can say is this is the best car I have ever owned! Makes everything else look and feel ancient… Only thing I had to modify is put PS4S tires on ….just wish by the time I come back to US/Canada, I would be able to take my Nio with me or at least be able to buy one there! Also they need to figure out a way to bring those battery swap stations to North America as this is a real game changer here in China… I can drive almost anywhere without having to wait to charge my car and it costs almost nothing! I think they should let people own battery swap stations in US and make there own prices on battery swaps, so it is a free market… it wont be as cheap as China but will definitely move the EV market forward!
$62k for a ET7? I think this price is very unlikely given the Trump/Biden tariff against Chinese goods. Nevertheless, thank you for the video. I'm thrilled to see Nio running on U.S roads.

A bit out of context, but I would like to say this: I bought a Chinese motorcycle in 2022, it's a CF Moto model: NK 400 and it is amazing, it even has bluetooth which you can connect to a device on the helmet, shows my.telephone battery life and more on the dash, ABS is standard, Honda offers ABS as an extra in some models, and Chinese manufacturing is getting better and better. Loved the video, thanks for posting.
We need this in the US badly, but also if they are charging at that price level, it should be paired with the whole shabang ( battery swaps and NIO houses). Of course, the swaps should NOT be free and be prepaid model payment system ( think Starbucks gift cards).
OK! The Nio ET7 is nice, but I'm more interested in some of the smaller $8k to $14k Chinese EV's. Those available here in the states would be the real "game changer".
Nio is one othe my favorites car in China, but have anothers exciting brands too, like Liauto, Xpeng, Zeekr, Avatr, Hiphi, or the BYD U8 and more are excellent brands too!

Nio is positioned in the premium segment, they're going to hurt once the German premium trio start releasing EVs, that's quite a gamble. Second gamble is the battery swap infrastructure strategy with batteries charging faster and faster.
Yes but with NIO if you opt for a batter swap station you don’t have to buy your cars battery saving you 30k your charged from 0 to 100 in 3 min and you can upgrade and downgrade the battery as needed every time you swap it. That beats any charging I would rather spend 3 min and have a full battery then say 20 min and have half a charged battery also the faster the battery charges the sooner it dies and faster you need to shell o it another 30+k to replace it
@@anguianoalan100 Indeed. However, new Nio releases don't offer swap possibility and it seems that the swap infrastructure devlopment has been halted in China by Nio, probably the end of the swap logic.
In China their charging port placement has been in different positions on different cars but note unlike other brands they acknowledge that given how long it will take to build their own infrastructure the best charging network is TESLA and LEFT REAR is the most TESLA friendly position for the port. In Europe TESLA SUPERCHARGERS are already open to non TESLAs, rolling out also in Australia where they both use CCS2. In North America there is a much more severe plug/socket division between TESLA and all other EVs. By the time NIO is ready for the USA and Canada TESLA's MAGICDOCK will have been added to thousands of SUPERCHARGER stalls. Perfect timing. Yes it is a bit pricey for non TESLAs to charge on the SUPERCHARGER network but so is bottled water from a 7/11 compared to your regular supermarket or home grocery delivery service. When on a mega roadtrip across North America you will be grateful for both the charge and the bottled water, a vacation is not the time to fuss about the price.
ET7's direct opponent in China is: Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Mercedes -Benz E series. He is not a product used to compete with Tesla Model3, but a high -end electric vehicle enjoyed by rich people.
I hope this becomes a chain reaction and other car reviewers gets a chance to test drive and expose the brand here in US soil before arrival. Time to hit up Jay Leno!

But a Nio ET5 uses the same energy at 90km/u as a Tesla doing the same at 130km/u. But if you have the money, of course money buys luxury.

The $62k price point was what it sells for in Europe markets. With Tariff you are looking at around $78k

Hope there’s no geopolitical obstacles, and bring the whole bunch of Chinese EVS into North America. The price/waiting list now is insane….need more competition here!

Yes, I kept finding it similar to a lucid as well. However, it’s far better build quality for at a much lower price point than Lucid

Nio is positioned in the premium segment, they're going to hurt once the German premium trio start releasing EVs, that's quite a gamble. Second gamble is the battery swap infrastructure strategy with batteries charging faster and faster.

Yes but with NIO if you opt for a batter swap station you don’t have to buy your cars battery saving you 30k your charged from 0 to 100 in 3 min and you can upgrade and downgrade the battery as needed every time you swap it.
That beats any charging I would rather spend 3 min and have a full battery then say 20 min and have half a charged battery also the faster the battery charges the sooner it dies and faster you need to shell o it another 30+k to replace it
@@anguianoalan100 Indeed. However, new Nio releases don't offer swap possibility and it seems that the swap infrastructure devlopment has been halted in China by Nio, probably the end of the swap logic.

In China their charging port placement has been in different positions on different cars but note unlike other brands they acknowledge that given how long it will take to build their own infrastructure the best charging network is TESLA and LEFT REAR is the most TESLA friendly position for the port. In Europe TESLA SUPERCHARGERS are already open to non TESLAs, rolling out also in Australia where they both use CCS2. In North America there is a much more severe plug/socket division between TESLA and all other EVs. By the time NIO is ready for the USA and Canada TESLA's MAGICDOCK will have been added to thousands of SUPERCHARGER stalls. Perfect timing. Yes it is a bit pricey for non TESLAs to charge on the SUPERCHARGER network but so is bottled water from a 7/11 compared to your regular supermarket or home grocery delivery service. When on a mega roadtrip across North America you will be grateful for both the charge and the bottled water, a vacation is not the time to fuss about the price.
