The best audio sound system in any production vehicle and with 1KW power? Where did you get this info from? How do you know it's the best? What other systems has it been compared with? If I were to go electric then Nio is the only car I'd go for simply because of the swappable battery, no need for a charger. Brilliant idea. Just hope it comes to England and they have lots of battery swapping hubs.
@@sydsnott5042 The battery swap is actually not a brilliant idea for the company itself. They will have to build batteries they never sell in a car, they will just be there to be swapped. That’s such a unnecessary hit in the number of EVs they can produce, this will slow them down as long as Batteries are the bottleneck of BEVs. So at least until 2030….
Yeah because it's not like electricity prices somehow follow the price of oil and gas does it. At certain times of day right now, where i live, the price of electricity is so high that it is actually more expensive per kilometer than a diesel car, even with the diesel also being more expensive. Offcourse it is cheaper at night but we have had nights where electricity was also very high because of no wind, and offcoruse no solar power, so if you have a car that you must charge every day, it can be very expensive to buy electricity today for your EV as well.
@@esm7708 Here, the prices of electricity is rising faster than the price of petrol and diesel, mostly because, when there is no wind or solar, a LOT of electricity is still made, using gas or coal turbines. Venture a guess, where we get that coal and gas from :) Electricity from sustainable sources like solar and wind is ramping up, but so is electric car sales, and solar and wind energy is still more expensive per kwh than coal and gas powered plant electricity.
@@esm7708 It's a socialist country, the politicians love taking people's money, and redistributing them so that their own voters gets the most, and has to pay the least. But yes, under normal circumstances the price for a KWh is made up of. 25% Actual electricity price 75% State tax on electricity. It's the same with fuel...About 60% of the price of a liter of petrol is taxes, so if the price of a liter of petrol goes up 10 US cents, the pump price will increast with 25 cents. So while gas prices gets higher and higher, the state makes more money as well as the ones selling the oil. Also for example when electricity prices are higher the state makes more money, because they have a support for wind and solar....Basically they are promised a minimum price for their electricity, so if the sale price is lower, the state funds the difference, but now, electricity prices are high, so they make more money on the tax i pay, AND they save money, because they dont have to pay the windmill and solar owners any money because they get more than the minimum for their electricity right now. It IS really a win-win for the state...And we, the consumers are being taken royally up the behind. But as said...it's expensive to pamper ones voters, so they need all the money they can to "buy" them. An example of that...When they decided that they did actually want to help people that were the victim of very high prices on natural gas, for heating their house, they decided that only the poor would be helped a bit..In reality that means that those who pay the least taxes now get the most money from the government, which is essentially raising my tax percentage compared to the socalled poor people.
Great video. When you hear it from German engineers themselves that NIO drives better than most (if not all) other cars on the road, based on their experiences, that speaks volume.
@@johdo9953 According to a study, NIO was rated top automaker in China. To quote an article, "The vehicle quality study calculates the number of failures per 100 new vehicles. The industry average is 135.Nio scored 49 failures per 100 vehicles - the lowest for any car brand in China and much lower than the industry average. A lower score implies a higher ranking for the brand." Now, who knows how much truth is behind this particular study, but if it's true, then that is one of many other indicators the kind of potential NIO could have. Is it all advertising and marketing? I don't believe so. A healthy dose of skepticism is not bad practice though.
@@LovesHighGround How do you know the study is not paid by the advertiser or NIO itself? To be fair, it's a nice car, but I would not count on one person or a channel saying it's better than most (German) cars. Like Tesla, it will show up on the sales number down the road. Tesla wasn't liked or recognized by everyone when it built the first roadster before the model S. Similar to Toyota, it took a long time to build the brand before it launched the Lexus brand. It will be a long uphill battle before NIO can find a spot outside China. The sales number outside China is going to be very insignificant for quite some time.
Glad to see Chinese car companies finally getting some recognition! Nio is definitely that one Chinese car brand that is considered "premium", their cars (such as the ES8, ES6, EC6) are considered the more expensive ones in the Chinese EV car market.
An outstanding car, and one to put NIO on the map for sure. The ET5 model due for release in Sept looks equally amazing. Great video, thanks for uploading.
I agree, but i dont think that it is only BMW, Audi and Mercedes that should be worried. I mean, this car makes the Tesla's look really old and outdated. Honestly if Tesla is not going to be run over by the Chinese in every category, they will have to something to the dated design of their current models. Once you could forgive the way Tesla's looked, because it was what made people recognise them as Tesla's but now there is just so many cars that looks way more modern than the Tesla. Tesla's only redeeming feature is their "self drive" stuff, but honestly, their lead on that field is diminishing for every day that goes by, and their FSD which they have sold lots of cars with the promise for this in the future, is still not anywhere near completion. I would not be surprised if the Chinese are going to overtake Tesla, even in that field.
What's really impressive was that the ET7 was only revealed to the public in Jan 2021, that's just 14 months ago, and it is almost ready for customer delivery already. ET5 was only revealed 3 months ago, and may launch within a year of its announcement. That pace is incredible.
Maybe after 2028 or 2030, It depends on that China has surpassed the US in economy and science technology, US believed that restricting such means would no longer work,At that time, it will open the door to import high-end products from China

They let the battery take massive thermal damage because they don't expect these cars to ever be driven more than 10,000 miles since they are meant to be collectors cars. Tesla had to build a cooling system so reliable and robust it could handle a wider variety of conditions from weather to driver habits but still guarantee a 8 year 150,000 mile warranty so the battery can't ever be allowed to overheat. Why isn't NIO track racing any of their production cars?

I do wonder about the definition of ‘sports’ car with the advent of EV’s. Sports car used to mean a faster, harder sprung ride for flatter cornering, bigger brakes and _noisier_ exhaust sound. I agree that Sports+ is something you will rarely use; when showing the acceleration to a friend, etc. not an everyday use. Looks like a nice car.
IMHO a sports car is a 2 seater (or 2+2 at the most), LIGHT WEIGHT car optimized for handling, not comfort or carrying capacity. There really isn't an EV for sale right now that meets this definition.

Excellent video from Fully Charged and great stuff by Elliot. Should have showcased the audio system which is one of NIO ET7 highlights. Basically Dolby Atmos experience in your car.

Yes Porsche has found it can sell near double the number of Taycan sport wagons than car body version and Audi BMW. and Merc all do a good trade in GT Sports wagons.
A gorgeous car, I like what Nio are doing. One slight clarification: all auto glass is laminated with a thin sheet of plastic glued in the middle. I think it is so quite because it had double glazing like some of European brands have, such as Mercedes. Unlaminated glass shatters in an accident, laminated safety glass doesn’t.
I do like that the Chinese are trying to establish their own design language. Most of the cars you see out of China have very obvious inspirations from other brands. Nothing wrong with that of course, but if you want to go premium you can't make another copy.

As you pulled onto the public road after the 0-100kph+brake test you went between a couple of parked VWs- looked like the types from the early 80s when VW with Audi bet very heavily on China growth and were one of the first Europeans companies to do so. Similar to but not quite Passats. Just a note!
It was a Passat B2, known in China as the Santana, which had been out of production for more than a decade.. I am Chinese, and I used to be a big fan of VW. I owned a Passat B6, and now I use a VW Phideon that shares the platform with the Audi A6. Now the ET7 will be my next target, bye Volkswagen.
As with all sedans, I wish it were a wagon. Volkswagen doesn't even the Passat in other styles than the wagon. It's what people NEED if they don't have multiple cars in the household. My neighborhood is full of wagons. What are my neighbors to buy next? Not an EV as those come only in "expensive" or "cramped".
MG5 is already available in britain and is coming to europe. Opel/Stellantis has Astra and Vecta to come. And the Skoda Enyaq is not really a SUV for me and should be fine.
It's a beautiful car. The price of $60K not so much. If we are to make a dent in out carbon footprint, we need EVs that are cheaper to buy and maintain compared to their gasoline powered counterparts. People are still buying new gas cars for under $20K. If they had a choice, most would buy an EV at that price. ICE cars have been around for decades and perfected, with few bugs, if any.
The ET7 is a luxury sedan made to rival with 80k to 120k cars from the legacy automakers, we can't compare... It's like saying Mercedes won't sell any E/S Class just because thay have the C Class...
Yes the OPs comment makes no sense in relation to this video, but the thing holding back evs from being priced under 20k (S&D) will only get worse over the next few years as the market shifts to electric cars as a whole. There will be more supply once the pandemic dies down and production is able to resume/new battery recycling companies kick up production but will be totally overwhelmed when the market share jumps from 24% of cars produced as of 2021 to 50% then 75%. By then inflation will get to the level that a sub 20k car will never be a possibility. It'll be a 20 to 30k car. In the U.S. sub 20k cars ICE vehicles included are a thing of the past.
@@vilas69 actually its more a margins issue.. i mean we all know most cars are expensive just cuz they are, not cuz of the cost... i mean, for example.. you take a Toyota CHR, or Volkswagen, Audi, Opel/Vauxhall, they have mostly "simple" cheap plastic interior parts.. they could use at least 60% more soft touch stuff, fake leather, ect.. for minimal bom-cost, but they refuse to use them, cuz they need something to sell you the expensive cars... i mean, in case of Audi Q4 Etron, they use to much hard plastic.. it would cost extra $2000 in material to have soft touch materials on most places.. but that's against their business model..
Looks like a fantastic car and one of the first electric ones I'd be interested in if I had the money. The bespoke tyres worry me though. I hope they go for a more standard dimension if they bring it here. That's something that could get expensive very quick if it's a unique dimension.
It looks a bit Audi A7 esque by its side profile which is not a bad thing and with that battery size , I think it will be a big it here in Europe. Well done Nio
When Lexus launched, commentators wrote off Mercedes, Audi, BMW. That didn't happen despite the marketing clout of Toyota. Nio have their work cut out for them.
Lexus didn't really have any innovative features. Nio is going for a smart luxury product and AI self driving tech which the current European brands are lacking.

Cannot wait until Nio offers their cars for sale in the United States. The battery swapping ability is very intriguing. Do not need to install a level 2 charging system at home. No worries about battery degradation, one will always have the latest battery technology. No longer have to wait 30 mins to charge an EV. Brilliant.
It seems clear Nio is playing the long game and inherent in that strategy is pulling all the stops to create a signature offering, the ET7. Not quite a loss leader product in terms of pricing but close enough, the better to push the "quality/luxury for value" proposition with a singular focus on rapidly ramping up market share in the global luxury EV market. In short order, the marketing strategy is to plant a firm footing in the European luxury EV market because as soon as that is established, the volume in China will rapidly escalate as the domestic premium consumer market takes its cues from the erstwhile most sophisticated auto manufacturers in the world - the Europeans. And Nio's strategy makes sense. With the uncountable number of homegrown EV brands in China, you can't survive - nevermind thrive - in that market unless you're already one of the established, deep-pocketed auto companies (BYD, Geely, SAIC, etc). What better way then to break into that market than to first make your mark in the European marque market and let that achievement sell itself to the domestic Chinese buyer.

Combining the leading active tuning algorithm and Dolby Atmos’ excellent detail and clarity, the ET7 provides an immersive listening experience beyond users’ expectation.
1000 watts? What did you say?
The best audio sound system in any production vehicle and with 1KW power? Where did you get this info from? How do you know it's the best? What other systems has it been compared with? I'm very Interested as the Mark Levinson system in my lexus is outstanding and I use to do sound systems a number of years ago.
Music to my ears!
@@FrunkensteinVonZipperneck yes 1000 Watts, I’ve experienced it really is world class audio system.
With the high oil prices, it has never been better for EV sales.
@@JohnDoe-bd5sz the relationship between fossil fuel prices and electric prices is slowly disconnecting in the UK.
@@esm7708 Here, the prices of electricity is rising faster than the price of petrol and diesel, mostly because, when there is no wind or solar, a LOT of electricity is still made, using gas or coal turbines.
Venture a guess, where we get that coal and gas from :)
Electricity from sustainable sources like solar and wind is ramping up, but so is electric car sales, and solar and wind energy is still more expensive per kwh than coal and gas powered plant electricity.
@@JohnDoe-bd5sz have you considered writing to your local elected official. It appears the energy policy in your country is a little passé.
@@esm7708 It's a socialist country, the politicians love taking people's money, and redistributing them so that their own voters gets the most, and has to pay the least.
But yes, under normal circumstances the price for a KWh is made up of.
25% Actual electricity price
75% State tax on electricity.
You know this is advertising, right? It still needs to be proven by the sales number.
Has China condemned Putins Genocide of the Ukrainian people?

@@JohnDoe-bd5sz Tesla's goal was forcing the transition to ev, they've done that the goal was never to be the best.

Very impressive. Boot space and opening a bit of a problem tho. A Sports tourer version would be awesome with a longer rear overhang.
Nio probably designed it to shuttle VIPs around so cabin space is more important than boot space.
Most cars have a laminated windshield and toughened glass elsewhere
Only the windscreens are laminated.
I do like that the Chinese are trying to establish their own design language. Most of the cars you see out of China have very obvious inspirations from other brands. Nothing wrong with that of course, but if you want to go premium you can't make another copy.

NIO, BYD, XPENG, LI, ZEEKER, Chinese electric car brands are already ahead of the world
