adityakambli6495 Thank you for watching!
Being from two wheeler OEM I agree with shumi's point.
This wasn't a podcast. It was a Tedtalk by Shumi

The starting 10 mins are pure genius, Shumi explains Indian startup scene excellently!
Rishabh Maheshwari Thank you for watching!
It was almost like Mark Cuban speaking on episode of Shark Tank !
Podcast is brilliant, suggestion - upload it to spotify or savaan as an audio podcast as well.
siddharth mishra I think we do. It just follows the video by a day or so
@@shu_mar great ! I will search for that. Kudos to you shumi for imparting your knowledge to the noobs like us. Thanks

Mohit Nair Hey thanks bacche!
Where did my 40 mins go?🙃
Love shumi mannn this guy is ❤❤
That’s what Varun was also asking. I wonder why?
This is really nice.
Very insightful and interesting.
Can connect to so many points since being in a IT/Startup field myself.
Thanks, for watching Dheeraj! and all the best for your start-up!
Again loved the content...
Also on a funny note. It looks like shumi masterji is teaching and a very dedicated disciple Varun learning from the guru.. these podcasts are really amazing and brings some awesome details in every episode.
And that praise for municipal corporation killed man.
Nishant Pratap Singh Thank you for watching! The municipality is the most intense organisation. Ever.
This reminds me the story of Micromax and Xiaomi
Great content. Finally someone who talks facts and more importantly common sense.
Thanks, Chaitanya, do share it with your friends!
ather still tests their scooters everyday on bangalore roads
What an eye-opener! Now I actually have some practical knowledge to share with someone, when someone asks me about the EV market.
An extremely satisfying posdcast! The best ever!

RE: Schumi's rant on fly by night founders -
I work in the co-working office as emflux but for a different startup. Why does that matter- well it doesn't but I wanted to segway into the startup life. There's something Schumi doesn't get about the startup world as a cynical ( older ) man not in tech.
It's EXTREMELY HARD to get funded on FAVORABLE terms. you see 5-10 people make 20 C and walk out with patents and whatnot. Investors pressure for higher growth, Have preferred stock + terms that guarantee any money made, they recoup first. Remember a few people out of 1000's make good money. Oh and getting into IIT and IIM is not easy either. So < 0.0000001 % of people .
Startups are a lot of hard work for 95% chance to fail while being underpaid, 4% chance to make triple your career salary and < 1% to actually make wealth. Just like EV founders don't get the real-world consequences of building an electric bike, SCHUMI definitely doesn't get startups.
What you will get is the ability to supercharge an industry( or multiple ) with your work, while being massively misunderstood for questioning the status quo. That's something reserved for the persistent few.
Ganesha S Im all for startups - even if I don’t get them. But making a product reality has come with real work testing which amazingly is not even on the radar! These products, then, need to be billed as prototypes. Or not be shown to us until ready!
Ooof. Oh noo just
Look at this Dudee
The rant was not on the idea of Startups. Everyone knows the early struggle of a startup. But that doesn't mean that startups will start launching products without even testing it in real life.
I've just started watching the video and I'm loving it! ❤️
One word " Awesome". Loved it . Exactly the seriousness needed in every scooter and motorcycle manufacturer.
puneeth sundar Thanks for watching!
I wish more people were as straight forward as Shumi Sir is! This world would have been a more beautiful place to live in.
The line by shumi - motorcycles that u can’t remember was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So So Soooooo much knowledge. Also, Shumi making a face at "Bangalore roads" :P :P
Can't stop myself from relating to it and laughing and replaying that section.
An amazingly informative podcast. Cheers to PD!
*My 40 minutes went faster than most EVs*
Holy shit!! This was 40 mins?!
That escalated quickly
Evs are faster
Took some time off and listened and relistened. Absolute bang on analysis. Thank you for the amazing information. Please do more.
Thanks for the kind words and effort, Aditya!
Their podcast reminded me of Ken Miles and Carrol Shelby's effort to make the fastest Ford ever.
Loved your Podcast
Rarely do the podcasts engage me in entirety...this is a gem.
1)Well true about power which will charge these batteries. Our country will never accept nuclear for known reasons, solar, hydel, wind can't produce so much MWs to power 140 cr people's necessity.
Coal are here and will stay with a lion's share in the power mix for 2 decades min more. US dropped this idea of renewable energy and left the famous Paris climate accord. 2) battery recycling is not thr today in the real world and they share similar issues to solar panel recycling. It's all pollution and would love to hear about battery recycling.
Schumi, love you man! This podcast of PD can be the model startup then ;)
This is one podcast which makes sense on electric vehicles....
Vinod Prabhu Thanks for watching!
almost every podcast is a ted talk.....these podcasts makes me fall in love with motercycles even more.....
So happy to know that!
Shumi sir is speaking absolute truth👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻 many startups start to make their product and brand big but at the middle most of them sell their dream for mere money to achieve profit🙄.
Hey PD. Again a wonderful and a very very informative podcast. Would love if you guys can make a podcast on how to select the perfect motorcycle .. or what thoughts to put in while selecting a motorcycle.
Love you guys 🤟🤟
Great suggestion, Akshay! We'll definitely think about it!
That gut feeling you have everytime seeing and experiencing the new EV's in India.. Shumi just articulated brilliantly! Thanks for being part of the motorcycling fraternity!
We're glad you liked it, Thridev!
As somebody who is starting up an electric motorcycle, this is very helpful. Thanks a lot for this!
Wondering which are the 2 scooters which are branded differently but are the same..
Worth listening.!
What an amazing podcast. While I was expecting some usual petro mumbo-jumbo stuff, I ended up learning so much. I mean, everything like start-up reality, sustainability of EVs, complications of automobile testing, etc. I must say that now I have increased respect for auto reviewers (maybe not all of them 😃). Thank you for a valuable 40 minutes of learning.
Having said that, this is a gentle reminder for the cost justification review of BS4 vs BS6, i.e. is the extra cost actually improving emissions significantly? This is the golden chance, since most manufacturers have both BS4 and BS6 counterparts selling aside.
Vyshak Reghukumar True! The data says 80% polluters are 5-years or older vehicles. So BS6’s impact is minor until those are dealt with
Your podcast videos brings goosebumps yaar 😍😍😍❤️
Wow! thank you 3000!
Just curious, what is shumi's educational background?
And, where did he work before starting with automobile reviews?
Nitin Hatekar I studied town planning and worked in GIS software before 2000
@@shu_mar dude. You are so skilled. I look up you bro. Cheers.God Bless.
Create a playlist for all the podcasts. Can't seem to find all of them in one go
Vineet Palkar Yes sir!
Great video! As an engineer myself, I can understand the importance of Validation, and importantly, validating for the one eccentric rider in the entire fleet.
But, I disagree on one point. Not every EV 2W needs to be as powerful or as mindblowingly quick as the liveWire. Harley Davidson produces ICE bike for the niche rider and doesn't cater to 90% of Indian 2W market anyway!
My point being, 2W EV startups need to concentrate on daily commuter bikes, provide the last mile connectivity from Home To Office, or just Warehouse to Warehouse. Thats it!
With rising fuel prices, there is an additional incentive.
Dont try to be the next track faring superbike. Just try to suffice the requirements of an average commuter, much like the Hero Puch or the Luna and that will get the ball rolling.
Shumi explained The EVs, tech behind it, and the entire start up culture in just 40 minutes. What a gem! #PDArmy
Is he saying that Startups follow a Himalayan model...? 😂😂
Hey Shumi sir. Thank you so much. I promise that you will have that EV soon that will make you feel ❤. I will note all mentioned things.
Social Riderz Awesome! Look forward to t!
@powerdrift Brilliant...absolutely spot on, the kind of data, understanding and delivery is amazing.
Amit Yadav Thank you for watching!
Can someone ask Varun to stop hissing at the mic, too near and too loud, too much yeahs, blocking Shumi's sentences. Shumi is great as usual. Had to wait a decade to watch him in front of the mic than on just the road.
Indian Sniper Arrey! Thanks for watching. Varun was just trying to get a word or two in edgeways
No offense Shumi! Just a "small" feedback to improve the best podcasts fr one of the best channels and team. Love you !
Shumi🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Schumi cribbing about Ola Electric giving prototypes in name of production bikes :)))))))))
Hamara kal only chetak
Shumi sir made some very important points specially about the source of electricity and e waste management. I really liked the in your face attitude and just being blunt. Also i feel that we still have time to go fully electric there will be a long time when both will overlap each other so startups should take their time and learn about motorcycles and build a good one accordingly......
Hello PDArmy, which another automotive topic should we talk about in the next podcast? Tell us in the comments!
Can you guys check on Gegadyne and validate them?
Can we talk about tunning and mods on bikes and cars?
How to maintain old cars
About road safety awareness and safe riding /driving tips
About the CBU and assembly in India. Differences. What kind of investment does it take to start assembly in India. Why isn't huuuge companies like Kawasaki, etc owned by Indian companies not manufacturing in India.
Bring it to spotify already!
Very Informative Video 😍. I just Loved it 🤗

At 16:10 Shumi being Shumi 😅😅😅
Sunil Kumar 🤣🤣🤣
Shumar sir is telling the untold truth about startups nice podcast it was good learning experience first the helmet and now this one
An amazing inside and an awesome prospective
Knowledgeable stuff thanks powerdrift
Thanks, Mohit!
The problem with startups is that there are rushed timelines and everybody wants to make a difference faster, but do not understand or appreciate the time needed to make a good product
Beautifully done, hats off to both Schumi and Varun
I saw an ultraviolette prototype testing in rush hour traffic in Bengaluru today, looks like they heard you.
Could not have been said any better. Epic stuff
Thank you for watching!
Thanks, Piyush!
Every second is worth watching.
You should talk about traffic awareness .! I think 70% of the people who are on roads don't care & majority don't even know what the rules are no matter where you live in India :/ please:)
baybay747 Makes no real difference. I think more basic things like patience and following rules need to be taught
Shumi nailed it...!
The funny thing about what Shumi said is that, even in the simulation, when it comes to bug testing, in games your players can do an "n" number of things and break it. And that's why playtesting is a thing and not even that can stand up to millions of players playing the game in different ways and breaking it. There needs to be thorough testing for motorcycles because a failure could very well mean death for someone.
Siddhant Panchmukh exactly!
Well said!
Schumi could be a good teacher with business subject
Vinod Prabhu I’m good thanks 😊
2.5 years down the line, this still makes so much sense! And it is almost prophetic when the (claimed) "largest" player (rather entrant) in the space makes the same mistakes that Shumi warns us about. Just on a much larger (embarassing) scale! :D
Shumi, take my bow🙌
You nailed it jus the way Mr Bajaj did!!
U stole my thoughts n beliefs on these start ups vs OEs in EV world.
Being in the industry from a decade left me pondering on how come every other guys walking out of a college is making hue n cry on EVs !! I was almost loosing the battle !!
But no, this podcast reinstalled my beliefs on production values, validations, network, knowledge, wisdom, virtual world n real world ...
Take my bow once again bro!!!
"Motorcycles that you can't remember, aren't worth making" - Shumi 2022
Shumi is the perfect adda guy. Talks so sense!
There is no "aalbaal" talks when Shumi is around XD
6:03 Did he just say "AALBAAL" motorcycles? XD XD
Shumar being loaded with knowledge and delivering that in a witty manner.
Learnt a lot, thanks 😁
Loved it!
Excellent topic 👍
Do share it with your friends!
What an amazing enlightening! Thank you for sharing the real scenario of e-bikes/e-scooters in India.
Shumi z back. Beautifully shared his thoughts regarding real world experiences. Hats off. Love u sir. Wanna see more podcast
"2-wheelers are not software driven..."
Ather: I am going to destroy this guy's whole career.
Fantastic, loved the conversation!
Vivek Anand Thank you for watching!
These podcasts are really amazing, please continue making these, but only concern is, either Varun should speak little away from microphone cause his breathing is really really annoying, it’s better to replace him with someone else, no offence Varun does nothing in these podcasts, better bring Abhik, way better
I am starting to love podcasts more than the regular pd videos #pdarmy #powerdrift
Why didn't you guys do a ride to ibw video?
That was an eye opener 😳
Clean electric production is more important than ev
Shumi you look really biased with Ather. I have been using the bike for last 11 months and have rode for 12k kms and it's an amazing bike, much more stable than ICE and you've to give them all the credit.
Awesome PD❤
How about Tork motors? You've done a video earlier on FZ with electric motor.
Yashodeep Deshmukh They makin’ us wait!
Thanks a lot Shumi! You've given me enough boost to rebuild my EV where i left.
Freakin loved it, need some more videos on EVs⚡🔥❤
It's true that EVs made by startups will have problems on road similarly EVs made by big manufacturers will also have problems. These manufacturers won't build motors batteries and controllers, their bikes will have problems with these components.
Many of us has problem when soco product becomes revolt rv but not when bmw becomes apache
Bharath Sure but they will test the crap out of them first. I’m willing to bet that big brand EVs will outlast most others
SHUMI gets it spot on... the current electric motorcycle companies in India might bring out a great product as an battery technology aspect but they are a long way from making a motorcycle that feels like a great motorcycle...
You guys missed my dream bike and the most affordable in-line 4, please review the Honda CBR650R, no body reviewed that bike. PLEASE DO SOMETHING PD.
Hi, Atharva, we're also waiting to get our hands on it!
PowerDrift :- please make it ASAP, i need your cinematic shots of the bike to convince my dad 😁😉.
Awesome introspection and in depth analysis by Shumi.
Always the best🔥🔥
in the end its all about feel , and thats the truth...... babaji has spoketh
8:00 Which are those two brands :)
Good discussion. I liked it.
Ajit Dubey Thank you for watching!
Please make a podcast for riding with helmet along with specs
Nice
Electric bike makers are not concentrating on enthusiast hardcore bikers.....just the initial pull is not enough....just see tesla ,they made a luxury sedan "first"and then added electric powertrain to it which is selling really well....
Ali Dilshaad Agreed! Those will come also. But mass products are very important. And they’re not easy to get right!
Rahul Sharma is using the same strategy in Revolt that he had with Micromax.
Rebranded Sharma( revolt is rebranded version of supersoco)
@@SagarUdit yeah, just like how all Micromax phones are rebranded.
Shumi the man can't stop talking. So much data in such short time :)
