Small gap to go hundreds of people going around you anyone one will jump in the way and with person seating behind it just makes task more difficult and with the challenge that I WILL CROSS ENTIRE MARKET AND I WILL NOT PUT MY FEET DOWN ...... My body and bike balance increased a lot from it ..... Now I can hold my self still for 5-10 sec without putting my feet down 😎💪

Really appreciate the content of the video Shumi. I just want to put one point forward. In India, bike training schools are sparse and for most simply put, unreachable. We do have access to training grounds with decent road and no traffic. How about a series that takes on how to improve your riding skills on Indian roads. Even upto CCS-L1 would be more than enough. You'll enable a lot of Indians, and I can assure you it'll be great for business. Hope you consider it.
I’ve thought about it and honestly, the school+track is the unlock not the videos we make on the subject. YT has more than enough riding content but applying it is a whole different story. I’ve been through the journey of working things out for myself for years. But one weekend at school will change everything.

I remember when the D390 came in, a lot of young riders usually college kids used to skid or crash on the second set of tyres as they were not like the sticky metzelers which originally came with the bike. So the original tyres were actually compensating for the rider's lack of skill & errors by working harder. The motorcycle was performing better inspite of the rider, not because of him !!
I used to be quite heartbroken that I couldn't get the RTR 160 and had to opt for the Pulsar 125. But after riding it for some time, I started enjoying it a lot more. And I realised that it had more potential which I need to master. This video was an eye opener. Thanks a lot @Subhabrata
same happened to me I wanted a gixxer 250 but got classic 350 at first I was not happy at all but after some time I started enjoying it and I am able to ride it much faster and safer for longer tours than my friends on r15 and other bikes

My friend once told me that he can get insights into a persons mind from how he or she rides in traffic. So true and so relatable. I used to complain about my Apache 160 4v's tires but 2 weeks ago I understood that I didn't have the skill to ride fast and better. Now I focus on what I have and I will try to learn few more aspects of my bike. I will also try to go to a driving school in future. Nice content 👍💯

12 years ago I did overtake my friend who was riding Honda unicorn 150... with my Honda stunner 125 on a long empty stretch of road, both driving with best of their enthusiasm. He was astonished and furiously asked me when we stopped for break. 'how can you overtake me. Your bike engine is 125cc and mine 150cc?' I didn't say a word, i just laughed.
Simply put, the lesser the equipment the more the skills you will actually gain. Me riding something as barebones as the 2 stroke Yamaha RX100 actually get excited instead of scared while approaching a corner at 60kmph....We need more episodes such as these👍👍👍

You have mentioned this many times before and now I get it perfectly because I don't think I am able to extract all from my Super Splendor and I feel so happy that I started from it... Moving on to the Apache 200 will be much more easier and I appreciate the difference that both the bikes have but I will still keep loving my Super Splendor no matter what... Although I wish if I could have found the 2003 TVS Victor GL, I love that bike more than anything...
With the roads that we have, it doesnt make much sense to invest on mods anyway. Glad that the master himself validates this view that I have had forever 👍

It’s been 22 years since I started riding and I have seen it first hand on multiple occasions of what you told here. I live closer to the hills in a city called Siliguri, from where hills, rough roads, no roads as well as smooth highways are all available. I have taken my Interceptor to places where it’s not only rocky, but also steep that too with the Pirelli tyres! I have seen a lot of people struggle there with even the Himalayan. In many cases I helped them out or guided them how to come out of that sticky situation. The next thing they all say is how can you manage such a heavy bike with less ground clearance than the off roaders in those places. My answer is the same, it’s all about the rider and not the ride. I can even cross the same patch with a Splendour 125.

We know that in India literally anything can appear on the highway at anytime... So few tips/experience would definitely help us understand how to brake more effectively !
Great stuff shumi as always! I've observed that most of us don't know how to really brake in an emergency situations. I've had a head on collision with a guy riding who came in blindly to the wrong side to overtake, I came to a near stop the guy just grabbed all of his brakes and slid into me head on and this could've been avoided had he known how to brake properly. That's the first thing I learned followed by downshifting properly to use engine braking and it was the most important beginner lesson I was tought honestly.
I used to drive my dad's hero honda Splendor and extracted maximum performance out of it. After owning a 250 I did not feel satisfied. Initially thought I should've gone for 390 but then after a few rides and observing myself, I realised that I'm not utilising the bike's 100% performance. So damn accurate!
Yes agree , I am happy to ride my 11 year old 110cc honda twister with stock skinny tyres and don't feel the need to upgrade as I am always ahead in traffic with my skills...and get better mileage then today's similar bs6 bikes...and remain scratchless till date
From another perspective, most people who end up buying powerful bikes aren't really skilled to own one. Whereas some admit their own shortcomings and start learning, most are blinded by their ego and end up bringing serious harm to themselves or others. Case in point, the KTM RC sisters and superbikes in general, get all the flak for causing accidents, but it's probably due to the rider's incompetency. Just like buying oversized shoes, sure you can get your feet in them, but you just can't use them safely.
In essence, riding smooth is a technique - it can be learnt. Smooth usually becomes fast. Riding fast is a feeling, it’s vague and subjective. And therefore it’s error-prone and difficult to achieve/learn just because you thought you should today. Smooth is fast. Fast by itself doesn’t exist.
Moral of the story is, if you want to enjoy your ride you can enjoy on the Xpulse 200 also......just all matters is your capabilities to use the machine.........

I’ve decided to get a ST3 as my first bike (I have been riding for years but have never owned a bike) and basis what I’ve heard, I fully agree, there’s no way I’ll be able to unlock the best of the bike, but the way I see it I’m eager to grow into it while also this is probably the only time I’m a bachelor, have the time, money and finally the inclination to take the leap.

Such an insightful and amazing episode Shumi! I jumped from a Dio to a Himalayan and the initial days...or maybe even upto this year beginning it was a herculean task to handle this bike in panicky and emergency situations And then the second lockdown happened and I discovered a youtuber called DAN DAN THE FIREMAN, and he analyses motorbike accident or balls in the mouth moment vids and I binged on them and obviously couldn't go out to test these things I learnt because of lockdown but after the lockdown ended and when I had balls in the mouth moment, I realized that subconsciously I had learnt a LOT and hence even in these panicky situations i stay so so so confident and that made me ride my bike harder and faster and better because I know that I have the confidence to handle the bike, either the himalayan or the RR310! So IMO having confidence is the most important thing and that comes with experience and learning 🥲

If I can get 50% out of a 600cc bike and 70% out of a 200cc bike. As a package I will still be faster on a 600cc bike. And I am sure after riding a 600cc bike my skill on a 200cc will be a little better. So it makes sense upgrading the bike. Skills do matter cause it’s difficult to extract the last 20% of the performance but it’s easier to extract the first 60% Learn the basics like rev matching and understanding counter steering and turn in/break in points you are good to go
Honestly not to brag but now I know why some of my NS 200 and R15 friends can't keep up with me on my Duke 125. And I bet there'll be some guy who'll beat all of us on a Splendour.

Hey Shumi, I have an idea, we have owned motorcycles and ridden them and they get worn out and then some, more often than not, its always the engine... What if we could approach the manufacturer where we ask them to replace the engine with a brand new one, just the engine... wouldn't this prolong the life of the motorcycle, theoretically double the life? Is there merit in exploring this idea?
I used to ride cbz then after 3 years accidents happened a lot I sold it to buy splendor now I really enjoy riding it I took it to himachal and was doing leaning on stock tyres.

I jumped from a Dio to a Himalayan and the initial days...or maybe even upto this year beginning it was a herculean task to handle this bike in panicky and emergency situations
And then the second lockdown happened and I discovered a youtuber called DAN DAN THE FIREMAN, and he analyses motorbike accident or balls in the mouth moment vids and I binged on them and obviously couldn't go out to test these things I learnt because of lockdown but after the lockdown ended and when I had balls in the mouth moment, I realized that subconsciously I had learnt a LOT and hence even in these panicky situations i stay so so so confident and that made me ride my bike harder and faster and better because I know that I have the confidence to handle the bike, either the himalayan or the RR310!
So IMO having confidence is the most important thing and that comes with experience and learning 🥲

Suddenly it felt like my manager giving me feedback about not bring the full potential to the table. 🤣🤣🤣 But it's true to word that we cannot extract the full potential of any given bike at any point of time and we always have someone else to blame for that.

If I can get 50% out of a 600cc bike and 70% out of a 200cc bike. As a package I will still be faster on a 600cc bike.
And I am sure after riding a 600cc bike my skill on a 200cc will be a little better.
So it makes sense upgrading the bike.
Skills do matter cause it’s difficult to extract the last 20% of the performance but it’s easier to extract the first 60%
Learn the basics like rev matching and understanding counter steering and turn in/break in points you are good to go

Hey Shumi, I have an idea, we have owned motorcycles and ridden them and they get worn out and then some, more often than not, its always the engine... What if we could approach the manufacturer where we ask them to replace the engine with a brand new one, just the engine... wouldn't this prolong the life of the motorcycle, theoretically double the life? Is there merit in exploring this idea?
I used to ride cbz then after 3 years accidents happened a lot I sold it to buy splendor now I really enjoy riding it I took it to himachal and was doing leaning on stock tyres.
