PD Simplified | Tyre Tread: What Is It For?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 ноя 2021
- Tread is the part of your tyre's rubber that is in contact with the road. Its primary job is to eliminate water between the tyre and the road. This helps you keep control of your vehicle once the road is wet. Tyres with more tread are designed to be grippier on wet surfaces. And worn-out tread means that in the wet, the tyre can no longer help you brake, accelerate or steer your car or motorcycle. Which is why tyre treads are super important for everyday road use. Shumi simplifies all the things you need to know about tyre tread, and how to keep an eye on their wear.

Wow.. shumi.. I love the way your team is working to share these kind of information into a simplified way..
Pls enable cc for all of your videos thanks pd
Gear ratios please explain what is taller gearing and shorter gearing with sprocket teeth and chain system ..?? 🥺

,
Literally my favorite content on RUclips right now is the PD Simplified series. Love you guys at Power Drift
Watch Fortnine!
@@Spartan..... yes i know Fortnine. He's contents are very nicely presented but it's no PD simplified
Simplify the headlights concepts..halagen vs led vs projectors
Really Informative
Can you make a video on "How to choose the right tyre for different use cases"
For directional tyre, what happens if you install the tyre in the wrong rotation?
This happend when I had installed a new tyre and then had to ask the mechanic to install it again in correct direction!
We would love a Simplified on Aquaplaning
I'm baffled that this all content is free 💚🥺
Simplified is officially my go-to source for my knowledge in automotives.
This video was really helpful.
I would like to see video on "chain maintenance, it's frequency, effects of chain slacking and other factors"
Pirelli has the best thread. Period !
PD simplified a must for everyone. 😊
Can you suggest Tyre for long life but less driven car. Approx 8-10k driven per year.
@shumi please cover chain sprocket system in this series, like what is the benifit of less teeth or big sprocket.
Could you please also make a video on how to chose right tyre for bikes,i mean how do we select right quality of rubber, can we make change to the dimensions of the tyre when we swap them, etc.
There's something that went wrong with the video subtitles at the end... It confused me about what @shumi sir was saying and what subtitles were saying, in the first place... The concept was clear enough though, and very informative.... 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻✊🏻
Thank you power drift for the simplified video. Very informative as always. A request; can you do a video about radial tyres and normal tyres, their uses, advantages and disadvantages etc. I haven’t seen talking or mentioning about it in any previous simplified videos regarding tyres. Thank you 😊.
So which type of tyre thread should I use according to place and bike capacity..!!??
Amazing video as usual. Thank you. One request to make a video on tyre punctures.
Really needed this one🙌🏻
Thanks prof. Shumi ❤
Great information
Thank you
We need Aquaplaning simplified
What tyre would you prefer for fine sandy roads ? Which is residue after rain
Excellent content but some more animations would be nice. Feels like a school classroom
Simplified is the Best Series for us to absorb knowledge from professor Shumi!
Brilliant explaination !!
Sir could u explain why the slick tyre is heated during the races ......and if the temperature decreases the grip also decreases
Nice one!! Please make a video on selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) 🙏
+1
Also a session on EVAP for BS6 norms
So 1 thing i have always wondered is, since the offroad tires are knobby and hence a smaller contact patch on the road does is mean lower resistance and hence faster speed?
Yes i do understand from your really informative vid that knobby tires wont be as stable but this question has been always in my head! Please answer
Is there any difference in grip, if we change the direction of rotation of tyre? Asked coz vespa s and aprilia s tubeless rear tyre tread gives impression that it move the water from edge to the centre. Pls clarify
Yo sir how are you?😁
I love these classes of ' Simplified ', it's very addictive . 🙏🏼
If possible pick the topic on air filter; difference between 2t and 4t engine and different between diesel engine and petrol engine and how they works; compression ratio too. 😋
I would love to see you in a crew-cut or a milliary cut hairstyle. The simplified series shows your discipline around motorcycles and all that runs around it. I am grateful to be in the same era as you @Shumi @Varunpainter. Too much love ❤❤❤
I must ask you sir to have a live motogp reaction on this channel in the next season.....so that we could understand more about motogp in the technical side
really like your presentations, very well spoken and concise.
Question. Why are the front treads opposite to the rear treads on most** tyres (not slicks)?? Looks like the front sweeps water inwards towards the center of the tyre and the rear sweeps the water outwards away.
** I've seen the front/rear same in a very, very few instances. I inspect motorcycles as an official for very large events. Manufacturers do put rotation marker on treaded tyres. Dunlop don't put rotation on their KR108/109 (+1/+2/+3) tyres as I believe they are unidirectional.
I want communication skills like this man❤
Excellently explained!
Super...as usual the depth of knowledge Shumi and team has is simply praiseworthy....just a suggestion...can you put pictures of lower treads tyres that will give example to viewers to change and not delay changing the tyres...by switching them around...
Watching and learning from Turkey. Thank you
When a automotive review channel becomes the Harvard of Indian automotive studies
Thank you 😊
If you weren’t riding in the wet does a worn tyre have more traction? Or is the compound around the carcass harder than the tread?
I really wanted to know what the block pattern tires offer over regular ones, with respect to my Yamaha Ray ZR 125 street rally
What about classic motorcycle tread patterns? Those that are very linear with hexagons, etc.
Bit more off-roady with good street capabilities, or...?
Please make a detailed video on this. This is such an interesting topic.
So can we use a worn out tyre(least thread depth) on a race track?
Very well explained
Now I know where that humming from my bike was coming from😂
Hi sir, does it mean that if a tyre is left with less than 1mm tread it can still be used in purely dry conditions.
i requested video on this topic in the comment section of tyre pressure simplifiPD .......... thanks PD for this video 🤝
Awesome video.
Do another video about upsizing the tires and do they really work ? Both about cars and bike.
Can you tell why sound comes from new disc pad ?
I knew the answer yet watched it completely. Big of Schumi
Getting wheel alignment is really important to get checked for a spoked wheel, if it is how to get a better understanding about it
Great video explaining science with respect to tyres ..so does it make sense to replace tyres only before a monsoon ? As tyres are worn out and are reaching the twi will result in more postive grip and may be infact better in the dry then with treads ..it may be silly thought but something to think about
It’s very silly. You’re failing to account for the degradation in tyre rubber quality over the time it took to wear the tread out
But while it isn’t the *only* time, just before the rains is the best time to replace tyres
Dear akshay, in formula 1 when rain tyres (inters) wear out they perform job as slicks (called interslicks). But at the point tyre is worn pretty much and wont last more kms and power delivery also reduces. Thus they continue to use interslicks if the find a dry racing line on track (rain is stopped) and generally change to slicks after a couple of laps.
Simply simplified 👍👍👍
Awesome work boss !!!
Excellent.... PD... More helpful as I always had doubts regarding tread and now they are cleared... With a very clear explanation.. Thank you ,👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰
I had one more doubt like direction of tread. Does it matter??? If how?? Could you please make a video on it? If that also cleared will be more helpful....
please do a video on different types of tyres, wear and replacments
along with aspect weight and speed rating details etc
Really informative video. ☺️
One question. Can the life of a tyre tread be related to how much your tyre is prone to puncture from a sharp object?
On a side note I think you have the wrong subtitles file uploaded. It showing more than what you are saying.
Pls explain what does shorter and long gear ratios signify ? How does it affect riding experience ...
Much needed video😍 with each and evey powerdrift simplified video we learns a lot. @shumar sir we request you to publish a video on importance of cone set in a bike and how to know whether it needs adjustment or replacement.
Another great video from Shumi sir. Just out of curiosity, what is your formal education/college degree sir? engineering....?
There are lot of videos about upsizing the tyre. What I want to know is what happens when the tyre is downsized ?? Most people when they buy a second hand vehicle the tyres will be downsized or some people do it to save cost (smaller tyre less money)
I hit the like button before from just the the subject line way before I watched the video. Good topic and well explained Shumi 😌
Do share more riding tips from what you guys have learnt in the riding schools.
Thank you
Make one on Gear shiftings
well done simplifying it
Can you guys bring back the 'Holy shift' series back again? I've been dying to see it😩...Shumi I know you're reading this plz reply.
Really great
How do you know where the tire has got manufactured ?
I know slipper clutch stops rear wheel from locking during aggressive downshift and I have a doubt does slipper clutch stops engine braking ??
Can someone anwser this question?
Nicely explained. Keep hearing of aquaplanning in F1 races - in rains. How does it happen for motorcycles ?
At higher speeds motogp tyre no more remains in firm contact with track suraface due to thin layer of water between them, resulting in total loss of control ...same happens in f1..how ever it depends on speed, water conditions, and tyre pressures.
This is the first time I've heard about aquaplaning. It will be nice if it can be on the next episode of simplified.
Love my Road 5s even more after this
I need of a more details in this topic
what if the condition is dry and the tyre reaches minimum depth, will it lose grip? i know it may skid on the sand but the positive area will be high then why that happens
Yes. Because what I have not covered here is how tyre rubber ages
Was hoping for some explanation on the tread patterns & designs. Do they really matter or is it a marketing strategy by the tyre manufacturer to up their sales?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ PowerDrift
Wow, I didn't know that, thanks you so much @shumar . Never fail to impress me @powerdrift
plz make a video on how can I choose my next best tire
Great video. Lots of information. I would like to see a video on various riding schools available in India to learn about bike racing. 🙏
Do handlebars next. Wider handlebars. Ape hangers. Risers. rD style handles. Bar end weights. Knuckle guards. Bark busters. All handlebar related.
Thank You So Much For making this video it's make me more informative about trie that will help me for travel and change trie knowledge also.. thank you
Good one
Best❤️🔥
Keep posting such Informational Videos. ❤
So is it ok to ride a wear out tyre in city if it is not raining or if the road is totally dry and predictable?? , I know you'll not suggest to ride a wearout tyre anyway but will the performance will degrade?
What about the rubber itself? It degrades with time and use too!
@@shu_mar Agree with your point what if In short time it's wearing out, is it ok to ride in a Dry and predictable environment?
Another aspect tyre I could like to see usage of knobby tyres on road, what does the rider loses in the process.
Awesome stuff! 👌
Please share relation between threads and braking.
Yes I need in the nxt simplified video 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Is worn tier in dry condition good or bad?🤔
Informative as always.. 😊👌❤️
So basically if our tyre tread pattern rubbs off , what we have is a slick tyre .
Yes. But by that point, it won’t have much grip left either
Tread carefully
Hello PowerDrift can you please discuss Engine and Tyre Break-in period...
Type of tyres? Which tyre is suitable for what type of riding? Offroad, onroad, all?
Thank you sir for making a video on my request
Isn't Aquaplaning the same as hydroplaning?
Do video on aquaplaning ❤️❤️
Great vid!!
More about aquaplaning please 🙏
Tyre tread causes friction with road contact . Aqua cleaning causes a soap ish layer and can cause sliding in rainy season .🚵. 👌.fan
What is difference between curved tyre and flatis tyre.?..for bike..
