I have to say... I watch a lot of these types of videos and this has been my favorite by far. I love the pace and the thoughts that come to your mind. This was a really excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to do it.
Impressive pile of silver there. Almost certainly searched. I ❤ silver dollars, and you are right, there are so many VAMs and various errors with these coins. Silver dollars are one of the most mass produced large silver coins in the history of the world. Hence a large sack of them is going to yield loads of common date ones, I don't know what people expect. Coin collecting is a very personalized hobby. Everyone is different. You might find a certain coin really dull, whilst I find it exciting. It would be a boring hobby if every collector was exactly the same.
Thanks for all the information you share! Yours is one of the channels that inspired me to start my own. I’ve learned a TON from this channel. Keep it up!
It's a Austrian gold Ducat from the Emporer Franz Joseph. You lucky dog. Depending on condition here in Wien it could bring three times the melt price for gold. Sweet! ( I'm in Vienna now ten years. Lots of great American finds here.) Thanks for sharing. Peace.
Wow! Did not know that about the different premiums over there. Was a super cool coin to learn more about! Seems like they used to be more popular as a bullion investment a little while ago!
On the 1890-O, there is a VAM called Comet, VAM-10 and VAM-10A, my only Morgan Silver is this exact Error, big tell is there is what seems to be a Comet next to the '0' of the date
Treasure Town..I as well have a great collection of morgans and peace dollars as well..Nice of the person to put trust in you with that whole bag of "gold" silver...lol..great video!!!!
Omgosh it's a true treasure hunt !!!! Everybody make sure ya smash that like button. I love theses vids😀 I am in heaven and I don't even own a Morgan yet!
I definitely would do my research plus we have a no non sense coin dealer in the area that has been honest and fair. Oh yeah if there not in sealed roll from the mint at some time or another they have been in circulation. He does say they have no real value and are borrowed from a friend. But I do know where you are coming from. Thank you
Thanks man! Was super fun. The person probably bought them 50+ years ago before passing away and giving them to my friend which is why I called it unsearched!
@@TreasureTownCoins hiya, the guy who commented on my comment was honestly well sounded like maybe he had a bad deal somewhere. You said in the video that they weren't worth alot plus they had been sitting and you were going through them for a friend. I thought the vid was great🙂 anytime you go through a bag like that it is a treasure hunt because ya just might find some😁👍👍
Great video as usual but I also LOVE to collect old coins but I am originally from Baltimore Maryland but I now live in Western Pennsylvania but I was traveling to Cumberland Maryland where my Mom's family is mostly from and I found at an antique store a 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar I paid $45 for it I thought that I did good on the coin because the condition is beautiful but people on a coin page on facebook said ouch or oh you were over paid but then someone copied the picture and found a die crack on the 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar then I went back and bought the rest which was an 1881 & 1898 Morgan Silver Dollar and a 1922S & 1923 Peace Dollar and I found some doubling on the Peace Dollar so I am happy with my purchases..
HI AGAIN DEAR CHRISTIAN ,THIS IS A GREAT GREAT SILVER MORGANS AND PEACE DOLLARS SEARCH.I ENJOY AT ALL YOUR PICKS AND TIPS.AND I HOPE YOU ARE SO GREAT IN ALL YOUR FUTURE GOALS AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY SINCERELY GOOD LUCK AND BLESSINGS😃👍❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸☀️🌟🌈🌟☀️🌈🌐🌈☀️
Wow what an opportunity. I wish I could search a bag of Morgan’s. I am only 13 even so one of my moms friends had some coin that had been passed down and there were 12 silver dollars, a $10 gold piece, $5 gold piece and a $2 1/2 gold piece and a couple common silver dimes. It was still cool to go through.
I like the straight forward no hype style coin review. Morgans are cool but regular dates just dont have significant value and everyone should know it.
Thanks! I try to be realistic and bring a perspective that's excited but realistic when dealing with coins. They're awesome and to have so many is great but many of the coins aren't individually standout.
I do have one question that often confuses me about coin collecting and that's the fact of weather it's better to buy coin's that are graded or ungraded? And should I invest in buying silver bars and or gold. Would it be also better to invest in 1oz. Gold eagles or the eagles that contain only a 10th of an oz. ? I do realize how ever than the prices differ on what amount of gold a coin contains.
I'd say for bullion investing ungraded recognizable bullion (ASEs and AGEs) are best, while for numismatic purchases (which I don't normally recommend as an investment) rare high grade coins are a better bet.
@@TreasureTownCoins Thanks for the update very much appreciated. I'll keep watching your videos for better understanding of what to look out for... Thanks again, Joe
If you buy any from Ebay, Graded coins are safest. Ive been duped a few times thinking a coin was MS in the pic and when it arrives I find scratches from cleaning. Though, I did score recently and got a 1914 D Barber Dime with a Repunched Mint Mark that I dont think the seller noticed. Its worth 3 times what I paid and will be getting it graded soon...
Don't say you might not find anything with the pennies, I found a few error coins, take your time while searching and have resources nearby while doing so! Enjoyed the video, love Morgan dollars
Unsearched has always been searched. Especially if you are buying on eBay I stay away from unsearched items. I might buy one or two once in a blue money just for novelty but it is always a rip off. Your best bet for unsearched is if you run into someone who had a l9ved one who passed away and selling their loved ones collection. Sometimes you can pick up for very cheap but those deals are hard to find. Go to all the banks and credit unions in your area on a regular basis and check to see if anyone brought in any old coins, Uncirculated coin rolls or anything interesting. Also sometimes you find collection dumps in customer rolls especially right before the holidays.
It's very rare that it's unsearched.. this one came from someone who passed away a long time ago, but they may have searched it. Based off of what the person said they probably hadn't, but they probably were searched by whoever sold it to them decades and decades ago.
Dang! That is a lot of silver dollars! I already have ten of them both Morgan and Peace and I'd like to get ten more to make it a full $20.00. I know nothing about them just that they usually (not always) carry a premium no matter what the condition is and that none of mine are worth much at all and that is how I like it (however I hate nasty or "cull" very worn and dateless coins- I always avoid those).
I found a 1889 s Morgan dollar, I would say it was ms62, very nice coin, think they made only 700,000, they might have 300 or 400,000 that were melted. Enjoyed your show man,
If you give me that I look through about a thousand pennies just taking the time to look for all the varieties it takes days! I can imagine how long it would take you with the $1,000 worth of pennies! Don't have time to do anything else
Christian - the gold ducat features Franz Josef II - the last of the Austria-Hungarian emperors who ruled over a vast area of Central Europe. He also started World War 1. yesterday i got into coin collecting again i got myself some coins for scrap value the sad part one of them was a morgan silver dollar I wanted it so bad but it had a hole in it and being the person that I am wanted nothing to do with it I always wanted to own one lol even if its common or not

Thanks..I had fun just watching a lot of Morgan's..till the next bag 💰 or maybe a roll of those shiny lustered Morgans ☺️😊👍
I've always found the Peace dollars more appealing. Love Morgans too though.

At 7:40, that was definitely a 7/8 tailfeathers. Nice find.
that 1878 7/8 is a nice find. the 1878-S at 12:56 has a prooflike reverse. you have the perfect job.
Its also the reverse of 1879
Wow more really amazing Coins Video ever!!!
So, if they knew what was in the bag - that means they searched it. So- it was already searched.
They just briefly looked trough the bag, they look closely for dates and mint marks.
They do not know coins. All they could understand was that it was dollar coins and one of them was golden

I find it very hard that those coins are unearthed. But very kewl to search.
Love all of them. Wish I could be sure to buy some that have not been tampered with or fake.
Sounds good! I'd recommend a reputable dealer like APMEX or JMBullion.
@John Goblikon is my spirit animal The closest coin shop for me is over an hour away. I'm not afraid I just have to have someone to go with me.
I have a 1895 cc the same coin what's the value
I liked both the state and parks design. Being a Merc dime fan I CANT wait for an overhaul to the dime. Enough already of FDR .
