UNSEARCHED MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR POUCH CC's & MORE FOUND

- Опубликовано: 28 янв 2018
- I was given an opportunity to search a friend's inherited Morgan Silver Dollar pouch that was given to him by his deceased grandfather. He knew I was into coins and I asked him if I could search live(ish) for my coin collecting RUclips channel. Inside are different Peace and Morgan silver dollars - it's almost like a silver dollar coin roll hunt except I know that the coins are silver! Unfortunately I won't be able to keep any of the money / rare coins, but there are certainly some major finds within. Nothing CRAZY but definitely worthwhile of a highlighted RUclips post! I believe this is the first video of its kind on RUclips.

Hi Everyone - Just wanted to pin a little note at the top here. This was one of my earliest videos when I had a lot of learning to do, and looking back, I handled these pretty poorly. Don't let them clink around / always wear gloves. Other than that, enjoy!
look for 1899, 1900-S BU. Also, when it comes to grading coins, the obverse carries more weight than the reverse.
i was thinking OMG when you touched the $6000 coin.
Ya Christian u right😊wear gloves!!!
Unsearched, just like the unsearched rolls on ebay.
In the world of coin collecting 'unsearched' really means 'searched'.
Lol that pouch is an old cigarette wallet, my mother use to use those to carry her lung sticks in the early 1980’s.
I loved this! Thank you for sharing your coin enthusiasm and knowledge!
Thanks Winnie! Hope all is well.
I know a lot of people say certain dates are common but to me any Morgan silver dollar is amazing considering any morgan coin managed to last over 100 years and that anybody that was alive when them coins were made and actually spent them are dead now I carry a 1885 "common " in my pocket every where I go there just so cool. Great video
Treasure Town it makes me sick to know that the Pittman act melted down several million of them back in 1918 or something imagine how much cheaper they would be if there was Millions more of them still in existence! Keep the videos coming buddy
Sweet collection! I wish I was the proud owner of that Morgan dollar pouch!
Thanks for the initiative, congratulations!
That is awesome!!! I would love to go through un searched silver coins.
At 4:12 The data on the 1882 almost looks double striked but it is hard to be sure.
yes i see it, it is doubled
1882 double die for sure.
Very nice collection! :)
Great video. Amazing cache of silver dollars!
For sure!
This is exciting,thanks
Some of us wait a lifetime to get this kind of a Morgan collection
Amazing
Yeah it was really cool... thanks for the comment OVER HERE!
Thanks for sharing! Subbed!
Glad you enjoyed Undefined. Had a look at your channel & was impressed with the very first video you posted! Wow!
Great coins and can’t wait for the update!
Same! Apparently one viewer (a friend of mine actually) thinks the 78CC is fake so that will be interesting to follow up on as well.
This is great to watch. People have treasure in their homes and don’t even know it.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was super fun to search for me.
This is where a lot of coin dealers would take advantage of an unsuspecting person. You are helping someone out in need, you may not make any money on these coins but you are a good person.
Thanks!
Those coins clinging and dropping on top of each other kills me...... but nice vid👍
Me Too.........and they belong to someone else ! ! !
Eli's Coins you can find a lot of American coins in China before 1860 those coins are still circling today but they got a hold of him know why because the Chinese wasn't convinced that was real silver so the Chinese what kind of small hole in them so if you want to get hold of some real ancient American coins before 1860 go to China and they will send you a whole bunch of it because most of the Corn that went to China or no longer in circulation in America that is a real piece of history that you can find a lot of early before 1860 silver coins in China
Eli's Coins my friend I had to fast for it because I could not hear your drawl along touching those coins with his fucking barehand and then dropping them killing the value this is why I'm a firm believer in a retroactive abortion and a license to breed because some people should not be walking on our Earth breathing our air and I work for an antique dealer for the watch this guy doing this stupid shit is killing me.
That’s got to be like $500 worth
They are all sliders doesn’t really matter. I think y’all are just jealous.
You need to buy those!!
The sheen is known as platina -- and commands a STIFF premium.
You're touching HIGH VALUE collector's coins -- like they're culls. Just stop.
9TheMajor well he did say he was getting nothing from them.
Ridiculous
The CC mint was only in operation during and slightly after the Nevada silver rush
These are some really nice Silver Dollars!
Thanks BAC!
all those are valuable couse are silver.beautiful coin.
Awesome!!!
Glad you enjoyed FC!
Cool finds!
Thanks Jaxcoins!
Really cool video!
Thanks stackattack. One of my favorites to produce!
they are early 1900s coins that said the word ''collectible pence coins'' plus, i also ordered every coin from every country.
GREAT dollars .!!!
Rolls of coins have only been around since the late 40's so those 1882s weren't from a roll. The 1882s probably came from a uncirculated bag of dollars
Thanks for the info - that would make a lot of sense!
They started rolling coins earlier than that but still not the 1800's
I had an 1895o graded for a friend in about the same condition as those 84s coins. Came back AU 58.
That's sweet! Will check that out.. AU 58 in that condition would be great.
@@TreasureTownCoins
If I remember correctly, it was NGC though. Tends to be a grade higher than PCGS. Sad story about the coin. My "dumbass" friend had it in a drawer and was kicked out of her apartment, everything put in storage, NEVER paid for the storage and her entire belongings were auctioned off. Someone scored pretty big. I think the coin would have fetched $8,500 at the time. ... I was honest with her when she tried to give it to me for silver weight.... almost regret it, but I suppose a clean conscience is worth more.
Just wanted you to know that someone is trying to sell fake Morgans through Sponsored FB ads under the handle Longjgb using the footage from this video.
I hope you can get some help with some sort of Cease And Desist or something, because you don't deserve for your hard work to be jacked like that, especially since they're scamming folks like us!
Keep up the great work!
Woah these are amazing coins. Wish i had some.
For sure! Really cool to see. I just bought a few to resell too!
What ever came of these coins? Did they slab them, sell, or just simple closed the pouch and put them in the closet :)
The latter!!
Very sweet man I subbed
The first 84 S dollar looks to be about an AU 53-AU 55, commanding a price around $500-$1000. The Second 84 S looks to be around an AU 50, or a price around $200. The 1884 S Morgan Dollar is an interesting situation as far as price, as the value can jump hundreds of dollars between one AU grade to the next. The price jumps for this coin are really unique for the series, as an AU-50 coin is around $200, and an MS-60 coin is about $6000-$9000. The 78 cc coin looks to be a strong XF, definitely with the luster, and around $125. Very nice lot of coins, and great to see the owners looking to get maximum value for the coins. The 1883 S Morgan looks Uncirculated, and would be around $800-$1000. The 1885 S looks to be an AU 55-AU 58, which would command a value of around $225.
Thanks so much, Victor. It's been a while (and I wish I had handled these better) but it's great to get your perspective here.
Mate those silvers r awesome 👏
Thanks a bunch! Was a really cool hunt to do.
Great find
Thanks CMC!
What kind of magnifier do you use to zoom in?
The 1882s were likely released in the Treasury releases back in 1962-1964.
Good to know - thanks Johann.
wow...
They have gone up in value since 2012
I think you're right MTH!
Silver Baggins shouted you out so I checked you out and subbed. 👍🏻😬 Love your channel
That's super nice of him to have pointed you this way! Enjoy!
Love me some Morgan’s 👍🏻
They're awesome!!
I don't have any Morgans or Peace Dollars in my collection...yet! Nice lot, but unfortunate for the circumstances. Coins are not as valuable as the relationship with family. Thank you for sharing.
You should buy one! Sad about their origins... I don't think that they'll sell unless the 84S / 85S comes back in a really high grade due to the sentimental value.
I understand this has been posted for 5 yrs already but that looked like a 7 over "Somethin"! on that 87..😮
Morgan's are my favorite coins but 20 years of collecting and i have only 3
Man, I wish I had that pouch of beautiful American economic history in front of me. I would wear gloves and very carefully take them out one at a time. Even the mass produced 1921s are worth some money. The P mint struck 45 million of them in 1921, making it the most common Morgan Silver dollar going. The CC mint mark 1878 is definitely a key date and worth very decent money. A lovely collection. It makes me smile looking at it.
Thanks so much Matthew! Morgan Dollars are great... very historic. Looking back, I feel embarrassed about how I treated the coins, but it was a good lesson and a really fun video.
I like your channel
Got a CC Morgan graded ms-64 1884-CC. My BEST coin besides my 1600s Spanish cob currently.
Wow Gooner! That's a really cool coin to own in your collection (so is the cob).
That’s a gang of Morgans 🤘🏻
Haha for sure.
HOLY COW!!!!!
Some super cool stuff!
Definitley.
Regardless of what you may think the grade may come back as all of these coins would definitely be worth submitting to be graded because in the long run you will make your money back very easily with any of these
When did the dollar bill replace the silver dollar coin?
Mouth watering
yeah they tell feathers and then 7 till feathers 8 tail feathers feathers also
Nice
Who else cringes every time a coin clings together when he pours them all out, or when he touches them with his raw fingers?
I know he should cook his fingers before touching those coins, lol jk
Razor Me. Don’t touch those and def don’t drop them.
I would never let it clinck. I cringed so hard.
touching those coins is fine with no gloves.
these coins were meant for circulation. they are not pure silver. they were meant to be handled by the general public.
you shouldn't touch the obverse/reverse with your fingers...only touch the edges unless you're wearing gloves....
I agree... in retrospect I should've worn my gloves, though I think I washed my hands beforehand (not an excuse though)
its silver so no problem
well that's not very polite. I'd rather educate than call names.
Why?
Diego Rose because your fingers have oil on them and can sometimes leave prints that later show up on the coin.
You accidentally said 2021 Morgan dollar in the beginning. You called it lol.
Several of the peace dollars were clashed
If indeed these are real he really shouldn't be handling them without gloves
@Treasure Town what coin shop do you work for , I would like to look at their website ?
I kind of chuckled when he said he sold Morgans for $18. Different times...
Magicians Coins,,,
No mint mark means it was minted in Philadelphia. It doesn’t necessarily mean it is lesser value.
i think i may see the 7 over the six
By the way, I wouldn't allow any of those Morgan's to tough one another, nor, pile them on top of one another.
I have been cleaning my coins for years, just learned not to do that. Now that do I do Lenny in RI thanks
hey bud i'm not 100% but the first 1977 on video that you mentioned that had few minted with last 7 over 6 on date that in the 90 degree of 7 is a shadow of what looked to me to be a 6. my opinion it is a 7 over 6. good luck on it id have ur friend get it checked.
All day 7 over
If you had a 1922 high relief peace dollar it would be worth a ton of money.
Where is the cc located? You did not zoom in and it could not be seem. Is it in the same mint mark location?
It is.
For $18 id buy them all
one of those 1882s appear to be doubledied on the date
I think you're right!
I love morgan dollar
A great design.
the 87 did appear to be an 87 over 86. check the left side of the 7. You should see the remnants of a 6
Thanks RonBand! I should start looking for VAMs more.
I have two 1878 and one is CC a 1881, 1890, 1900, 1901, 1921, and three 1922 coins they look a pretty good their circulated I think , but I don't know how to grade them do you think it would be worth sending into PCSG to get graded?
What are their mintmarks? If the 1878 CC is in pretty good shape an authenticating grade (and definitely if it can be a higher grade) could be really helpful in terms of pricing and maintenance of the grade.
Thanks!! I went to a coin shop today and the "guy" told me 1878 CC was worth 40 dollars because it looked like someone took a dry eraser to it and the rest he would pay 15 for. He also said that all my Kennedy half dollars were just worth their weight in silver. I think I'm going to go to a few more coin stores to see what some other people have to say. What do you think? I think he said he give me $192 for Morgans and $75 for the rest.
I have the red book too but mine is the 72nd edition i think its the newest one but idk
Very cool! It's a good way to get a general sense for which coins are better! The main downfall is that some of the prices are inflated, but when one is a lot more than other, you know it's good! Plus you get a lot of cool info about coin collecting.. thanks for the comment!
11:10 is 7 feathers and second reverse. 13:36 is 7 feathers third reverse.
Even though if the morgan dollar has a common mint mark It is still good to collect
Never STACK high quality collectors coins -- EVER. A SINGLE scratch knocks the price down 30% for rare coins. Truly unscratched silver dollars go for an insane premium -- way beyond belief -- because they are so rare.
And it's folks like you that make them so rare.
That’s not just Morgan’s I think I saw a peace dollar at the middle 1:14 that where I saw it
I have a 1884-S really want to get it appraised because it looks uncirculated but I’m no professional on that
Can send a photo to me!
Treasure Town next time I’m home where the coin is I’ll try and remember too
GO BY AUCTION REPORTS BOOK VALUES ARE WAY LOW LIKE THOUSANDS SOMETIMES
Auction values are unreliable as well cause auctions can be up amd done grey sheet is more realistic
@Treasure Town, As you probably know by now, silver dollars were shipped loose in canvas bags and so suffered from being tossed around, leaving lots of bag marks. Morgans, especially on Lady Liberty's cheek are especially vulnerable. However the Peace Dollars stand up much better.
Thanks WF!
wow man 25k views on a vid! congrats!
Thanks RavenHawk! Still hoping to break that 1000 sub threshold that you demolished!
That first one was an MS 60
nice coins
Glad you enjoyed!
The Gas Man
How do you find find the counterfeirts?
A basic one is to examine the placement of dates, preciseness of details, and also weighing it (some metals weigh more/less if they're not silver)
You did just fine with this vid....MY GOD, these people saying "wear gloves!" are a little too tightly wound. I would throw this collection in a mason jar and put it on a shelf, or in a cigar box with a variety of other old silver quarters, halves, and dimes. The whole fun of having these coins is handling them just the way you did.
True! Don't want to hurt the value... definitely can see it from both perspectives. Thanks for your comment.
After 130 years of handling I have a hard time believing holding it without gloves is going to make any difference...or tossing it in the mason jar. People are so uptight
Or swimming through them in your own private money-bin!!
Ahhh....to be wealthy once more. They tell me everybody blows their first millions. You just have too. But now its ''money-bin time''.
Hoo-rah!
thatsa you
@@stefanschleps8758 just like Scrooge McDuck
So this is what people carried before wallets?
Did those two 84-s get sent in for grades? They were nice AU looking coins.
Hey Christopher... I don't believe that they did, but the owner may choose to grade them at a later time. Thanks for the question!

I would like to buy the 84 S, is it for sale?
Not at the moment. If it ever does go up for sale I'll give you a chance to offer, but I don't think it's probable that it goes up for sale.
Why would you remove the coins from the pouch in that manner ? Damaging them.
1:06 literally why...
Man!!..... Where do I find a pouch like that??.... What a great collection! I'd love to own that collection!
Best of luck haha! Maybe ask your friends if they'd like some extra info on their parents' collections or something!
Yo tengo uno del 1900
With an 1878 Reverse of 78' the breast feathers recede, or don't come up out of the Breast of the Eagle, and an 1878 Rev of 79' the breast feathers come up slightly like a mound.. I apologize for this kind of explanation, I just can't think of a better way to point out the differences between the 1878 Rev of 78' and the 1878 Reverse of 79'. The 1878 you showed was an 1878 Rev of 78-' I believe.
Thanks a lot for commenting Allan. I'll make note of that - didn't want to look it up in front of everybody & take time away (though I should have and then edited it out).
Great coins here,really nice man
Thanks Brian! I loved searching 'em - don't get to do that every day!
Wish my grandfather left me his coins but he didn't like my dad his own son left it all the his step kids. And the church. Never got to know him well.
