Love your vids. I'm a young amateur silver/half dollar collector. It's just something about the metal and that you don't see them every day. I started when I found my late grandmas coin collecting purse in our basement.
Whoa! Bought 11 rolls the other day and my wife was checking them out. Not much but I commented that since she had found Kennedy’s, Franklins and Walkers, she needed to find a Barber to round things out. Last roll, next to last coin was a 1907 Barber. A bit worn but still a great find. She was so excited and so was I
Back in 1967 when I first started looking for silver, we got excited when we found Barber half dollars. Franklins were too common to get excited about and 1964 Kennedys were a big yawn. We found Walking Libertys 2 to a roll. Franklins were either late 40's, early 50's in AU and in 1967 ALL 64 Kennedys would pass for BU. The thing most people now a days don't realize is, silver was CHEAP and we saved only the better Barbers and Walking Libs for our collections. Coin dealers only paid .20 over face for silver, so they only wanted AU Franklins and Kennedys. If you took them an XF Walker, they didn't want it unless it was one from the 20's or 30's that they could sell for a premium. Even then, the most I ever got was 1 or 2 dollars over face for finding something that would be sold for $50.00 dollars now.

I worked at a bank in the 1980's down in commercial deposits, basement, armored car deliveries and went in the coin room every chance I got. You wouldn't believe all the silver that came through daily. I would exchange quarter for a quarter, dime for a dime, etc. when I could. Yes, you can here that sound, even in the machines that count it. I even bought a $50 bag of wheat pennies one time for $50. The man that worked in there all the time couldn't get it all, too busy some days. He had a man at the flea market that bought the silver from him. It was exciting to see all those coins and especially the silver. I also filled the change orders for a lot of Winn Dixie grocery stores. I would get paper money straight from the federal reserve bank (I worked there too for one year. I can say I held 1 million dollars in cash in my arms. It was all still in the plastic, wrapped up, but still. $100 bills.) Anyway. I had brand new straps ($100 in a band) of one dollar bills out on my table and spotted a thin line of black among all that brand new white. It was an inverted note. Needless to say it's in my collection. I'm the only one thats ever touched it.
