Regardless of the wrapping, I'm a coin collector from Canada 🇨🇦 and my favorite coins to collect are scrap silver . Canadian and U.S . I loved this video and have subscribed! P.s, I do have original rolls of quarters dimes nickles and cents. From the sixties that have never ever been opened. They are all straight from the mint!
the yellow half dollar rolls are from the 1600s. all three of them were once owned by John Quincy Adams and then he gave them to Dwight Eisenhower in 1998. please do not speak on things that you don't understand or know about. the grownups are talking...
Great collection! I bought my first LV when I was 25 and I've only used that bag a few times haha. Also, I love your clutch! I have an Eva clutch with the DE print and I love the little chain. But I don't want to spend that much money right now and the kislux always gets me the bag I want and it's just as good as the LV and one of my favorites. Durability
I would expect all silver if the more dates Feb 1965 is correct. 1965 dates clad coins did not appear until mid 1966. I remember seeing a couple of rolls of halves at about that time (I was only 7 or 8 years old) and they were almost all Kennedy halves. I was already a collector by then. The total coinage of 1964 and 1965 dates Kennedy halves exceeded the total Franklin half production by a good margin and is about the same amount as the walking liberty series in the entire 31 year production run. Kennedy halves pushed the older coins out very quickly.
The Coinage Act of 1965 was signed on July 23, 1965 and the mint immediately went to work on them. The first clad coins released in circulation were quarters on November 1, 1965. I turned 10 years old 3 days after JFK was assassinated. Half dollars were already 'dead' by late 1963---early 1964 as the public was already big into hoarding almost every silver coin they could get their hands on, especially the halves and silver dollars.
Sounds about right. My father, who lived in NYC, first saw clad coins in the middle of 1966 when he was in the 4th grade. Silver coins started disappearing fast in NYC in the summer of 1968 and were all gone by the fall of ‘69. My mom grew up in a more rural area and didn’t see any clad coins other than 40% silver Kennedy halves until the time she started high school in 1971. Mercury dimes also outnumbered Roosevelt dimes in the area she lived in even as late as 1963 based on her recollections.
@@glennmillerfan In February, 1968 when I first began collecting coins at age 14, almost half of the rolls of dimes and quarters were still silver. Before the year was over, I was lucky if I found 1 silver quarter or 2-3 silver dimes in a roll. By early 1969, silver was literally gone. I lived in Chicago at the time. As for half dollars, it was almost impossible to obtain a roll of them from the bank, let alone a bag. I almost never got any 90% silver halves starting in 1969. By early 1974, 40% silver halves were gone too, as $7 an ounce silver made it more profitable to take them out of circulation and sell them for the silver content.
This unfortunately appears to have contemporary paper wraps. I do not believe this has been sitting for that long, but rather, was put together and made to appear old. Ebay is riddled with proof sets from the 60's with similar colored envelopes as the original but have all been searched. The fakers have gotten very good at making the envelopes appear old. It is exceedingly difficult to find true OBW rolls of any denomination nowadays. I have some nickel rolls from the 80's that are true original rolls and you can easily tell they are that old just from the way the paper has faded and worn. I learned the hard way many years ago and there are tons of unscrupulous sellers (read: scammers) out there. Nevertheless still a haul of silver. Check the 52 Franklins for scarface variety which is a die crack that can be seen with the naked eye. The envelope says $30 of .50c coins.
I would think so as well, but not from this channel. Christian unboxes much cooler collections than just a bag of mixed 90% US silver, so he doesn't really need to fake this.
It's not a "K" it's a cent sign (a "c" with a line through it), so it's probably $30 in 50 cent pieces or $30.50 total is my two guesses. (I'm old so I've seen it before).
@@rdioactvgmr That makes sense. I wish some of these guys would explain things like that and how much he paid for it. Thanks for answering my question.
It could have been sitting somewhere for a long time. Years ago, it was common for banks to have their names printed on bags, be it like the one shown in this video or it could have been a large canvas bag that held $1,000 in either dimes, quarters or halves weighing over 50 pounds. A customer who dealt with that particular bank asking for a lot of change would get the coins in a bag, sometimes already rolled up in the bag. The bank expected that the customer would return the bag to them so it could be reused. Over the last 20 + years, the Feds and banks have dramatically changed the way coins are delivered between themselves. If you notice by the teller windows inside the bank, most rolled coins are now stored in boxes, not bags and are not as heavy as a full bag is.
Not sure when you made this but silver has been on the down for quite a while now. And 90% is selling for melt or under melt in most places. Only sucker's on whatnot are still paying high premiums.
Great video nice silver coins collection thanks for sharing happy new year
How the heck did you get your hands on this bag??

Hi I'm in Canada. How do you get straight from the mint if you don't mind letting me know. I'm in b.c.
I really wish I could get American coins sent to British Columbia from the states. Not easy for me to get there.
Thx for sharing!! This was exciting!!!!
Amazing bag of silver..
they are not silver. they are 30k gold nugget chunks with emerald cores.
It really is!
Those yellow half dollar rolls may be modern, I have a couple of those I got from the bank.

The pack with the 3 $10 rolls doesn't say 50 k it says 50 ¢
Awesome find and buy!
How do you find these bags and how much do they run?
What a completely delicious bag of junk silver. And no clad at all, none.
Thanks man, I was so happy with the opportunity to search!

250 bucks invested with a 7 percent rate of return will generate a little over 14k dollars after 60 years
I think investments would have done better... perhaps not the interest rate!
Apmex and sd bullion are selling at about 23x fv. Wheres the best placr to pay less?

$30 in half dollars 🤦🏻♂️ like $10-10c would be $10 face 10 cent dimes
