    Your video is inspiring and motivating. I use to work on US fighter jets but pulling my 2002 twin cam B to replace the balancer bearing is intimidating. You make it look simple. Best vid on the process I’ve seen!!!

      Thanks for the compliment, truth is I've been tearing into twincam's ever since they were born but it's easy you won't have a problem.

    You assumed right on others wanting this, thank you very much, I do watch more than one vid anytime I tear into the old train, but guaranteed yours is the first and then usually watched again several time. Thanks for doing this, I think I can speak for everyone that we appreciate it! Oh, yes, I do have the official HD shop manual, I always validate against that as well! Thanks again man!

    Ok watched the video...questions. Once the case is split like shown in the video, will the crank assembly lift right out of the other side of the case? Also can I take a good crank assembly from a B engine and put in A cases?

    • @DeathProofProductions
      @DeathProofProductions  8 месяцев назад +1

      After removing the balancers it will. Some early A motors have to be pressed out of the case on there drive side because of the timkin bearing but most don't. Yes you can use a B in an A case, you just have to remove the balancers sprocket on the crankshaft.

    Was there a real benefit from all that extra mass in the case???. Seems like alot of excess parts that'll slow it down. Moonshine harley removes the balancers from the M8s when they do a monster build

    • @DeathProofProductions
      @DeathProofProductions  Год назад

      Yeah on a race bike you want to remove them because they do have some parasitic draw on the h.p. but just cruising they keep your hands from going numb. I'm not sure if you saw on of my comments on anouther video but did you ever live in the West memphis area.

    Can twin cam crankshafts be balanced so don't need counter balance weights?

    • @DeathProofProductions
      @DeathProofProductions  11 месяцев назад

      Not really, the balancers on the twincam b motor are there more to reduce vibration on the softail frame because of the added vibration caused by the larger displacement . The evo was 80 c.i. and was pushing it as far as tolerable vibration for most rider's. That's why Harley was a year late putting twincam engine in softails, they were still in development stage in 1999.
