This is literally what I did *comfortably using SAI* *Sees CSP on sale (in sept)* *Buys CSP even though not needing it because it was hella cheap* *doesn't remember how to use csp since her free trial*
Omg THANK YOU _so much_ for this. I've had CSP for over a year but it just kinda, hate how the brushes feel compared to when I use SAI. I never thought to try the oil brushes for just, regular lineart. It feels SO much better! Man I feel super inspired now, I've got a ton of ideas... Good thing it's almost the weekend lol!
I am really used to using sai, at the end of the day I’ve been using it for years and clip studio paint feels pretty odd to me, thank you so much for making this
oh my god SO helpful. For a gift I got 50$ and was able to either get clip, or paint tool. I had been using sais demo and loved it, but had also got the trial of csp (that ended) and had to decide which one I would rather buy. This helped me settle my decision that I am going to buy clips.... THANK YOU!!! I have been so frustrated lately with this decision since 50$ is a lot of money to waste. :) I feel like i’ve made the correct decision now! I’ve liked and subscribed!!
I've used sai for at least 10 years and csp have some features that I really wish sai had. And you showed exactly what I wanted to see. Your video is super useful and easy to understand, as eng is not my 1st lang, so I thank you very much for your time and effort, I really appreciate it. I'll definitely gonna buy csp now 😂
I use both....Nothing beats SAai for the feel.....Plus Sai mixes and paint way better than CSP.....I m tryuing to adapt to CSP because it has much more features, and i fkn bought it ;)
I just bought CSP and I'm a bit lost since I'm SAI user for years lol this helped me a lot, thank you! Still, it takes time to get comfortable with the pressure since it's a bit different
Perfect timing, I just bought CSP and the transition to it from photoshop is a bit overwhelming! Thank you for talking about the features in a detailed yet simple way!
Thank you for this tutorial. I downloaded CSP for the animation feature that Sai 2 doesn’t have and this is very helpful. Especially the part with the brushes: it’s the reason I still stick with Sai.
THANK YOU for this!! I've actually had CSP for two years but never got around to using it because the features scared me, but now I'm getting the hang of it!
This is very informative! I've used SAI for about 4 years, but when I got a new laptop to replace my failing previous one earlier this year, I began feeling like it was time to retire SAI and get a new drawing program- one that wouldn't freeze up and/or try to crash my laptop on occasion. CSP Pro definitely seems like a good choice, and this video has only bolstered those feelings.
I use both, SAI is my main drawing software because of its simple UI and I'm used to it but CSP have a lot of useful features that SAI doesn't like 3D. In the end I rec that you use both because they have their strengths and weaknesses.
This video is a GODSEND. I've tried making the transition from sai to csp but I've always had some trouble with csp because I can't color/blend quite like I do in sai. this just made it a TON easier. thank you!
thanks for this!! sai has been my first (and only, really) program for i think around two to three years? it's not that long but it was where i learned to do what little i know and where i developed the clumsy inconsistency that i sometimes dare to call an artstyle. the transition has been a lil rough for me, as i was so used to sai's quick response and had a *lot* of personalized brushes that...don't really know how to translate to csp. still! this video really helped put a lot of this mixed feelings i was getting from the moving process into words and to understand how to help myself transtion. thanks you so much!!
I've been using Sai2 for a good 2 years now, I've tried CSP at some point before but I was overwhelmed by the amount of things, hopefully it'll be better the second time around :v
Baught csp in the sale. You got me. Sai 2 has text but csp got a lot more features. Also Sai 2 and probably csp produce smaller files. I still have to find tools and setting for csp brushes but this helped already. Thx.
Thank you! I've tried buying a Windows tablet so that I could take a portable Sai with me but turns out Windows' ntrig pen technology is kind of dogshizz if it's not the 2k surface with a 250 pen bought separately 😭 Whereas an older Samsung Galaxy tab is BY FAR cheaper and uses Wacom's technology so the pen is actually reliable! BUT, it's ANDROID powered. I decided to make a really big leap and decide I can keep Sai at home, but for portable stuff I should probably start branching out anyways from my comfort zone. I've heard a LOT of good things about clip, and I might give it a try to transition into on my new tablet, and this was really helpful to make it much less intimidating, thank you!
I've always wondered what the difference was between these two apps, and now that I see the differences I'm sticking with CSP. I was thinking of using Sai because it was simple, but looking at it now CSP has what I need with how I draw my art :3
Thank you so much!! I will be getting a tablet and clip studio for christmas this year and was quite scared of not finding similar brushes before watching this, especially blending like this: 5:06 I will probably come back to this to find the right tools and let you know how I like them! I am so exited :) Also awesome job on the painterly anime style, I kind of gave up on it over the years as I could never get it right and just moved over to realism. It is super satisfying to watch you draw miku, keep it up!!
Just came back to say I LOVE CLIP STUDIO! It took me a few days to adjust the brushes in a way where they felt like my previous ones blending-whise, but now it feels even better than before :)
Been a SAI user for years now, but I've recently encountered issues with SAI Crashing randomly, it's a hard transition to CSP, but It's one I have to take.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS T^TT my mum got me a new tablet for Christmas and it came with Clip Studio Paint but Sai’s pen pressure and stability refuses to work with my new tablet. So I decided to go with Clip
also can someone help me with getting the simple icons that lixizu have in her video, i have the weird complex ones and i dont know why. i see everyone else have the basic ones and i prefer them.
I don't use SAI, but this was a nice video to watch. I recently got myself a free trial to Clip Studio Paint, and so far I'm enjoying it. I work with Photoshop, and while I'll still use it, CSP is a fun program and I have a feeling that I'll buy the full version next time it goes on sale. :>
I wish you could import sai brushes to clip studio :( I don't know if that's possible. I really wish there was a brush similar to the crayon and noise brush on sai!
My oil paint brush is shaped like a flat brush and it's driving me crazy. Altering horizonal and vertical just makes diagonal thinner than the other two, got rid of brush angle, made the shape circle. Still there 8 ) Thus far round mixing brush has been the closest i can find, but the heavier nature is still really messing with me hahah. I suppose thats just something ill have to get used to.
Im such a SAI simp so I still prefer SAI bcs how easy it is and still could achieve somewhat similar result. But thank you for this video! I'll keep it as future reference.
Literally same. I purchased clip studio and I get the hype it really is great but the stabilizers and user interface is just eh. I just prefer the smoothness of the stabilizer and sai brushes.
I don't use clip studio but I know this will help lots & lots of people maybe me in the future I know if I get clip studio I'm definitely using your tutorial❤️💕❤️💕 wonderful work!❤️
am i the only one who struggle to do line art in clip? im drawing in sai for a year now and the more i draw in it the harder for me to switch to clip. i used stabilizer in sai but only s-2 so maybe thats one of the reason but in clip even with stabilizer its like im not totally in control on my drawing and its messing me up. i feel like i wasted my money buying clip. does anyone have the same problem? how did you fix it?
I felt exactly the same after using sai for years. The pen just didn't feel the same, it was weird even after trying to optimise the stabilizer. However, I did not want to give up, so I kept drawing despite it being uncomfortable. Many hours and illustrations later, I can surely tell you that I completely got used to it! It doesn't feel off anymore at all. So imo the best way really is to play around with the stabilizer AND give it some time, you will get used to it just like you did with sai back then.
Hello! I have this same problem. I've been using Sai 2 for a long time and migrating to CSP has been a struggle because of it. Have you been able to adapt? I'm still thinking about how to adapt, given that I find the Sai 2 Linework layer system a little easier to control the control points
I still prefer SAI cuz my artstyle is just cellshading so I don't need much brushes but I still planning to transition to CSP cuz of the animation and comics making feature.
Agh ty ty, I got a new computer and Sai refuses to cooperate with the pen pressure so I made the jump to CSP. I've been practicing but I went back to sai on my laptop to work on my webcomics aaannd holy shit I miss my brushes. But I've been customizing my brush settings for the past 8 years so this is gonna be tricky.
I use both cus csp have so many brush with good texture and stuff but also hurt my brain cus idk which to use for line art and coloring. Sai is more simple but don't have the beautiful texture that csp brushes have. I'm just crazy for texture brush
My first program was csp so im glad i bought it! UwU i love csp im really comfortable compared to procreate ( that i tried on store) and i dont have ipad but display tablet so its so comfortable one thing i dont like its the csp airbrush it doesnt look smooth but look smudge anyway thnaks foe this video! ( im using csp and bough a tablet its been 4 or 3 months hehe)
Nope. Clip Studio is actually rather stable. Even though I have not used Photoshop since middle/high school, I can still say Clip Studio Paint rarely crashes (it only crashes if you over work the computer (i.e have a heavy modded instance of Minecraft running in the background and 50 browser tabs open at the same time you are using Clip Studio Paint), which I do sometimes, as far as I can tell). Clip Studio Paint also has performance settings you can adjust if you need to adjust things like RAM usage.
Would you mind sharing your brush settings for darker pencil? The pressure for mine is all weird, like the when making a line, the ends are thin and not very soft like yours in the video :0
Don’t know if anyone could reply to this (and help me out lol) ,, but I rllyyyy wanna get CSP after feeling pretty confident with my digital art. I’ve used Sai for soooo long and I usually prefer it over other programs like Medibang or Krita because of how simple it is. I even prefer Procreate for the same reason! - 3Dmodel Layer
- a proper animation tool (more than 24 frames with EX)
-actual Vector layers that usable with ALL brushes
- Gradient layers
- macros aka Actions

Sai 2 has mesh transformer you use sai 1 it doesn’t
How do you change minimum size like in SAI for tools?
I can't find [Tool Property].
The reason im transferring from sai to csp is cuz csp supports 3D models
