Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a massive shake-up for Link and pals! Here are seven Zelda traditions that Breath of the Wild is only too happy to chuck headlong out the window. Enjoy! * surfs into the distance on a shield *
Outside Xtra the last one was partly incorrect since Nintendo confirmed that the green tunic from Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and the original Legend of Zelda, I think. Are you guys not allowed to say that before the game comes out?
What about Link being right-handed? I've heard almost no one mention that, but it sticks out to me like a sore thumb.
+Emerald Aly Well the thing is that it wouldn't be the first time. The Wii version of Twilight Princess/Hero Mode in the HD version of the game and Skyward Sword have him right handed for justifiable reasons. Why they did it in this game when it doesn't really matter is beyond me, but oh well.
+Hshadow G I don't see why they wouldn't be allowed to say that since there's already other videos saying it. Maybe they felt it'd be a spoiler? I don't know.
but there whas a voice acting in zelda before. a very iconic voice acting..... "HEY, LISTEN!"
I was trying to come up with a Zelda pun, but I didn't want to tri and force it.
Nice
Max Littlewood boooo...boo
Max Littlewood That is a really nice link you made there. 😉
I'd make one but Hyrule enough as it is.
Max Littlewood Man, you LINKed it really good...
At least they never broke the #1 rule. Link may not speak.
I mean he kinda does since there are different things you can choose for him to "say"
Zekeram12 *WE DON'T SPEAK OF THOSE GAMES*
I hope he shares Gordon Freeman's voice actor.
*LUCKILY, I BROUGHT MY SMART SWORD. IT WON'T HURT ANYONE FRIENDLY, IN FACT, IT MAKES THEM TALK! CHECK IT OUT!*
Fluffiness PLAY THE FLYING MUSIC
Zelda Fans: You can't just mess up the Zelda Formula.
Nintendo: YoU cAn'T jUsT mEsS uP tHe ZeLdA fOrMuLa!
oh
Easy there, Pumpkin Pie, nobody here said they didn't like it.
And the Nintendo speaking part is that one spongebob meme where he looks like a bird
Purple Pumpkin r/woosh
You can't just cut down grass for rupees either. And the lack of few sure chest music makes me kinda sad. I still LOVE this game though. It's absolutely breathtaking and so unique! It's so free world that I get lost more often than find my destinations.
Lucy Alexandra Briggs you can still get rupees from selling items
You can find fairy’s while cutting grass and you can find rupees under a couple rocks or such.
Lucy Alexandra Briggs oh ok my bad I was sleepy when I read this
You can still cut grass for money
That's why I hate this game. You just end up getting lost and the world is so freaken bleak and empty that there is so incentive or reward for getting lost like there is in good open world games like skyrim or fallout. All you might be rewarded with is a korok seed which is essentially just a middle finger from Nintendo, or maybe another toothpick weapon that'll break in one use, or if you're lucky a stupid explorer in life or death battle with a one-hit-kill boko, who you save his live and he rewards you with 2 rupees or a turnip or some other piece of garbage. Or if you're really lucky the same EXACT hinox you've fought 15 times that HAS been copy-pasted to another place as if it's an interesting and unique miniboss. The game sucks.
Me: I'm supposed to do my assignment
Also me: Watch more Link surfing on a shield
he was snowboarding not surfing
It's not really all that different. You're still riding it on water ;)
yeah they arent that different but calling things their proper names isnt hard either
A better me: Play PS4 games
Matt says the stupid person with 59 subscribers and spells music musik
what about the fact that YOU CAN FREELY JUMP?!? WHENEVER YOU PLEASE?!?
I can't be the only one that mind was blown from that...
yeah ! And then you keep falling from a ledge because you forgot that automatic jump has been removed and that you ACTUALLY had to press the freaking X button
Nub uh. If you held z, walked forward, and pressed a in skyward sword, you can do the smallest jump know to mankind
Link's Awakening(1993) had a jump too. It was an item, roc feather, but it was jump whenever you feel like it.
Roc's Cape in Minish Cap, too
How small is it?
Link catches wild horses because epona is fudging dead. After 100 years, a horse would die.
Well you can still get Epona through the Epona Amibo
Parrot ! That was my thought, but if I recall, the horse Link uses in flashbacks wasn't Epona either. It seems like he just never had that horse (unless you get the amiibo)
Linden Bree it was Epona I'm pretty sure
Stout Boy3 there is no Epona amiibo
Gonçalo Martins
No, it wasn't. It's a brown horse, not Epona.
*Edit:* I made a stupid mistake, so I deleted it thanks to Jonathan :3
one thing they didn't mention is if you REALLY want the green tunic, you can finish ALL shrines to gain the set, also, theres a monster part shop that will sell you Dark Link's outfit and face
Samantha Winters where is the shop?
Hazy Ace you find it at skull lake in akkala, then around every village. You also need to defeat 4 divine beasts for the dark link
Thanks for the spoiler
@@Waddlejpg - Game's been out for over 3 years now. If you come across a spoiler these days, that's on you, I'm afraid. Don't read comments about a video game if you haven't finished it yet, I guess?
'Breath of the wild isn't your Grandad's Zelda'
I'm not 100% sure but I think Luke just called me a Grandad.
ACWells13 My problem is that it specifically is your grandad's Zelda and not your dad's. It's modelled after the original, after all.
The fact that a Grandad's Zelda even exists makes me feel way too old XD
I'm pretty sure my grandpa has never played videogames in his life. They don't appeal to him...and he's 75.
@15tsubasa - I'm pretty sure that's EXACTLY why they don't appeal to him - he hails from the generation that thinks video games are "witchcraft from Satan" (for lack of a better old-yeller phrase).
It's a figure of speech people...
As long as Link never, ever speaks, beyond the occasional scream or grunt, I will be a happy, happy and satisfied Zelda fan.
Too late for that. Remember the CD-i "cutscenes"?
ZeUbermeinsch ZeUbermeinsch Excuuuuuuuse me, that along with a certain cartoon are to be forgotten except perhaps as fantastic reminders why Link should never be voice acted.
i dont mind if link talks....it couldnt be worse that metriod other M
We don't speak of such things.
It is an unspoken rule that those don't count. Though honestly, I wouldn't mind hearing Link speak, as long as they give him an actually GOOD voice actor, and don't make every other word out of his mouth a sassy cheese sandwich. By all means, make him the lovable goof every fan imagines him as, but let's not have a repeat of the cartoon Link.
I'm actually quite happy with the lack of long and frustrating dungeon
Some of the dungeons beforehand weren't long and frustrating but thats your opinion.
well, then don't play a zelda game. that's kind of the appeal of those games. that's like saying you want to play a mario game without platforming...
@@captaincrash9002 Ok
I’ll be happy playing botw in my corner then
@@gabrielathebluealien1247 then do, doesn't change it being awful at being a zelda game.
I wonder if a RUclips comment thread can reach a certain size without having stupid arguments like this 🤔
LOL! That chest opening sound is my notification ringtone. When it went off at the beginning, I thought I was getting a text! xp
You could say that the fresh ideas are like a breath of the wild
Nonsense. If you want to be really punny, say it's Breath of the Wild is a Breath of Fresh Air. XD
Anime Girl Amy Zelda: Breath of Fresh Air
*says underbreath* fuck he is good
Rather...
You could say these Wild ideas are like a Breath of the fresh air...
I am playing the seinfeld theme as I read this. Hilarious reference man!
Also i think a zelda tradition that has been broken is that you're not longer able to roll while running around. Even if it's something so small it has always been typical for the series and i really miss it tho
Trunks Briefs OMG YES DUDE !
Rudy van Sloten *cough cough* minish cap *cough cough* four swords *cough cough* phantom hourglass *cough cough* spirit tracks
Francisco Bartolome Right lol
It was in ALTTP, it was in Four Swords, Minish Cap, FSAdventures, and if you count them, the DS games, its not just the 3D games
Trunks Briefs DO A BARREL ROLL !
If a Zelda game doesn't use Zelda rules, shouldn't that mean they are no longer Zelda rules?
HAZ FUN yeah they did say the monarchy is dead. Who knows?
No hate but actually the dungeons are basically divine beasts. Divine beast Vah Ruta (water dungeon) Divine beast Vah Medoh (the wind dungeon) Divine beast Vah Rudania (the fire dungeon) and last but definitely the hardest Divine Beast Vah Naboris! (The sand dungeon)
they are also not-megazords of sorts, and their champion pilots are basically [almost] power rangers
guud lawd, wtf
Vah naboris is electricity based not sand
Hold on. 1:12 Did the editor specifically choose to cut to a gecko right as Ellen said "get go?"
MegaNightmare4 Probably
MegaNightmare4 That's not a gecko, it's a lizalfos
As long as Link doesn't talk, I'm ok. Cause I don't want to here what he has to say about all the nightmarish creatures he's fought, I already got the nightmares for that
GEE! It sure is booooring around here!
Maybe that's WHY he doesn't speak? He DID face a lot of them as a child in one incarnation, and then even more as a child in an adult body. He's probably a bit traumatized himself.
How about a kiss, for luck?
I just wonder what Ganon's up to...
+Aurachu And don't forget the famous "..."
I guess it is true what they say "you can't make everyone happy". Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the Crown Jewel of the game franchise! (This comes from a formerly "Ocarina of time will never be overcome" fan) On this game you can do almost everything you ever dreamed of, don't want to follow the plot and go on a hunting adventure? Go ahead! Go Crazy! Hyrule is HUGE! So you'll have a hunting adventure of a lifetime! Want to just travel and enjoy the gorgeous scinery? Hyrule will leve you BREATHLESS! There's to much to this game that I can actually keep this post going for hours! But go ahead and give it a shot! You will NOT regret it!
It's kind of bland to be honest, yes the world looks amazing but there's not actually all that much to do. Especially if you take into account the amount of stuff to do compared to the world size. You spend 90% of your game running from point A to point B and it would be laughable to call the plot a storyline. Some of the old ones felt like reading a good book. This does the barest minimum necessary and leaves it at that. For a game that was supposed to be so innovative to the series it's sort of sad how few risks they took with anything. I'm just hoping the DLC adds some more content to justify the size of the world cause right now it's just extremely pretty scenery, no substance.
Uh, everything you said is complete bullshit. There is more shit to do in this Zelda than in any previous entry, and by a massive margin. "How few risks they took"? They threw almost every Zelda convention in the trash, you can't get riskier than that. You sound like an utter troll who hasn't played 5 minutes of the game, or a massive liar. Why shit on something so baselessly, and so dishonestly? I don't get it.
I've done everything it is possible to do in the game except for about 800 Korok seeds, took me about forty hours give or take.
I fully expect you to take none of this to heart and assume I have no idea what I'm talking about but I'm putting this out there anyways.
Yes they took risks with the Zelda formula itself but that formula was never what made a Zelda game good or bad, Skyward Sword followed it to a tee and was terrible, Twilight Princess used it and was great, Majora's Mask chucked a huge chunk of it and was awesome, Triforce Heroes disposed of it completely and was trash. The formula isn't important in making a good Zelda game. It is often a starting point but take it or leave it the game can be good or bad. What makes a good Zelda game is the story. Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, A Link to the Past, these games played like interactive novels, they were epic journeys with moments of horror, heartbreak, triumph and so much more in them.
Breath of the Wild... well it suffered from a lack of narrative. Because they disposed of linear objectives in this game no event that you completed could be referenced by any other event in the game. The Guerdo's couldn't know that you defeated the Zora beast cause you could potentially defeat the Guerdo one first. This means that you are incapable of advancing in any meaningful way in the game. The Link you are when you come out of the Resurrection Shrine is the Link you are when you face off against Ganon. In other games there is a sense of progression, you learn what is going on, do what you must, earn new powers over the course of the game and by the time you are done you feel that Link has evolved. No one would say the Link who watched his Uncle walk out of the house into the rain towards Hyrule Castle was the same as the one that faced down Ganon inside the Pyramid at the end. Neither that the adult that fought to free Hyrule was the same as the Kokiri child that stumbled out of the forest with a vague mission to complete.
The story in Breath of the Wild was to put it very simply the same as that of the original Legend of Zelda. "Ganon has Zelda, do these objectives then defeat him" On the NES that was forgivable because of the limitations of the system and the fact that huge stories weren't really in style at the time (Though still not really my favorite Zelda). With Breath of the Wild it is unforgivable because they have both the capability to tell a massive story and the knowledge that is what fans are expecting. LoZ was just starting out so it is understandable, Breath of the Wild should have understood the expectations. They actually removed much about what made some of the previous games compelling. Ganon was stripped down from a highly complicated and potentially sympathetic villain to an evil mindless monster. So to were the races all stripped down to there simplest traits, Guerdo's have no males and are are warriors, Zora's are fish people, gorons are rock people and smiths, Rito are bird people. There was no depth to any of these societies like was explored in other games, they were just there.
The one thing I can say for it is that Breath of the Wild did do a very good job on Zelda. Every other NPC was an archetype with no development but BotW's Zelda was perhaps the best developed of the Hylean Princess's to date (with the possible exception of TP but she didn't have enough screen time to be sure). She had a very good arch but the method of displaying it through those god forsaken memories was not well executed.
Breath of the Wild's other major flaw is simply a lack of content. There are six or seven NPC villages in that massive overworld, 76 side quests and only three or four minigames. For it's scope Breath of the Wild has more or less the same amount of side content as a standard Zelda game. Which means that the vast majority of the overworld while breath takingly beautiful is mostly empty.
The game makes a very impressive first impression but the more you play the more you realize how little there actually is to it. The majority of your time will be taken up moving from location to location and gathering materials to buy or craft whatever item you need for the next segment. I spent longer collecting the different armour pieces than I did on the entirely of the games main story.
I have a number of smaller game design related grievances with Breath of the Wild but most of those would have been forgivable if they'd gotten the major two above right. Overall the game feels like a completed beta environment, it is fully functional and playable but there are huge chunks of content required for the release that are missing. I'm hoping this will be corrected in DLC but given the limitations of DLC my hopes are not high.
Although I appreciate your review, I feel we have very different views of the Zelda franchise. This game actually ties the first Zelda into the series more than ever: we have a land at the edge of destruction by evil. The adventurer link is plunged into a world that he knows little about and must use his wits and not just tools to make progress. You see a place in the distance and decide to take a detour; The trek turns into a journey, but you are awarded in the end. You say that a Zelda's success is in its story, which is partly true, but I get so much more from the adventure of it all. For me, it's about Link's Adventure where there is no handholding and a bad decision can lead to imminent death. It's about Link to the Past, where there's a secret behind every nook and cranny which you will never find unless you explore. (I would also say it's about keeping the world alive and different every time you go somewhere like in Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, but Breath of the Wild isn't there, at least not yet.) If you want a story, you play Final Fantasy or some other RPG. Zelda has slowly moved toward deeper stories, but it has never been the centerpiece of their games.Back to Breath of the Wild: You have a large but vague goal in mind, and you are free to accomplish it in any order you choose. Your arrival to Ganon (okay, I haven't gotten there yet) is based on your growth as a player instead of an overpowered character. You learned how to sneak on enemy camps, and you learned to carry a wood weapon for all those annoying thunderstorms. For the first time since probably Oracle of Ages/Season, Link is whatever you make him, not just a love-clueless dufus that yells "Yaaaugh!" and rolls around to get where he's going.I will side with you that the NPCs are on the weak side. I largely blame the lack of themed music that would normally bring out personality in villages and characters. But at the same time, I feel that adding to much flavor would take away the feeling that Hyrule is barely surviving. Some of the tradition of the people has been lost, but it's still hiding here and there in desolate shrines and simple villages.Maybe I'll be a little disappointed when I finish the game and start to really miss the Zelda elements that have become standards, but I have to stand with the majority that Breath of the Wild is a lot more than an empty world. It's an adventure that leaves it to you to put in the effort needed to become a hero.
Quinn's got a major point. BotW is gorgeous but it's so lacking in plot, I wonder why I'd want to spend a lot of time on the game subsequent to defeating Ganon when I know it ultimately doesn't matter in the end since what extra things I choose to commit myself to in the game are not necessary and do not contribute to any real plot. The only thing that drives you to continue exploring the game is curiosity, just pure self-motivation. But when something feels optional to that degree, you just feel like you're committing yourself to a bunch of side-quests with the return of an inconsequential reward and nothing else. There's no sense of plot-related accomplishment that drives you through the game, and I believe that was so fundamental to what made a Zelda game, I'm shocked they ditched it.
Really I just feel BotW is TOO open world... they scrapped the greater sense of objectives in favour of this competition in hyper-realistic open-world kind of games that are circulating at the moment, capturing people with small details and pretty graphics and 'how big can we make the map' and intricate mechanics instead of focusing on an interesting plot as was incorporated in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. Clearly people enjoy this kind of thing, and will fork out the money, so I doubt Nintendo really cares. But honestly I really hope they go back to something closer to the heart of Twilight Princess. Incredible plot but an expansive world. It created that perfect balance that made the game so damn enjoyable.
BotW would have been wonderful if they just spent a bit more time on the plot, and made it more linear in nature. I'm happy that the game is huge. And while I miss the classic Zelda elements discussed in the video, I'm just mostly disappointed that they focused on making the world big and thus sacrificed the necessary plot points that ultimately make an immersive Zelda game. Frankly enough, they killed the awaiting adventure in favour of a more nomadic approach to the land of Hyrule. Some people will be satisfied raiding Bokoblin camps and farming Lynels for hours. But really I just miss having a plot to stick to, as every other Zelda game that wasn't a spin-off boasted. I really miss not having an adventure to follow. I beg to heck that whenever they do make another Zelda game it will be more linear, but what's to stop them from diversifying even more when they see the apparent success BotW has become...?
Umm... have either of these people ever played the first Legend of Zelda, or do they know that you're not the same Link in every game? Zelda started out just throwing you in a world to explore, Breath of the Wild is just an enhanced, awesome version of the original formula.
same formula, sure, but traditions have still been broken
Arbstel Bleu that is a great way to put it and I agree Iove this game
SKYBOXGAMING Zelda already bored me...🤬(i knew i had to buy splatoon 2)
except that game had twice as many dungeons...
Yep I'll be walking everywhere, ain't no way I'm betraying Epona
You can walk, i will be hang gliding and shield sledding, if i got bored of that i would switch over to skyrim. Zelda is my game for less practical means of transportation.

Christopher Carpena shut the fuck up
Standard! Link's bond with Epona is sacred.
@That blonde Sonic Fan - Just ignore that Chris-kid, man. He's a keyboard warrior who's only trying to get a reaction out of people.
You can get Epona with the Link amiibo..okey bye 👋🏻
Dani Banani03 the original link amiibo, the super smash bros
There is also a 3% (I believe) chance to get Epona instead of a chest when opening your daily amiibo chest. (You can open one chest per amiibo per day. I.E: You have 15 amiibos, that's 15 chests a day)
Yep, what a fucking rip off. I thought the minimum for a amilbo was five dollars max, wrong! The asking price is twelve to fifteen dollars. Go fuck yourself nintendo.
you only get chests from Zelda related amiibos. all other drop barrels
Well, you can get horses just as good as Epona later in the game. And Wolf Link becomes pretty useless after a while (I've had him get One Shot by some enemies that i'm not even fighting, he just runs up and attacks things way too strong for him T_T)
they had to change things one day, if they kept it up forever then the series would inevitably die.

I really want to play this but don't want to buy a new console
Tactical Manatee it's coming on wii u
So like he said, he doesn't want to buy another console
Pretty much my reaction to any PS4 exclusive I find remotely interesting >:3
good news, if you don't have reasons to get the switch you can buy breath of the wild on the wii u as nintendo are a bit short on games for the switch
Tactical Manatee Wii u version but it won't look as good
I kinda like the outfits in this one. I've been getting a ton of mileage out of the Shiekah stealth costume (probably because it cost me ~2k rupees, an I bought it really early). Nothing better than sneaking up on a black moblin from just outside his peripheral vision and ramming a halberd between his ribs. Catharsis to the max! Especially after getting unceremoniously knocked into the second Tuesday of next week because you started jabbing with your spear instead of sprinting...
Sheikah Suit is quite literally the best armor in the game. Max stealth at all times is really game-breaking since unless the mobs physically see you coming, they won't know you're there until you're literally touching them - JOGGING.
Trelior I know, I bought it early too 😁
"it has been said you can find Epona somewhere in the wild"
that is a filthy fucking lie!
Epona cannot be found in the game, you must use an Amiibo to summon her ass...
ForemostCrab7 I just laughed so hard
What're the odds that Zelda fans complain about every change that Breath of the Wild made, even the ones which are almost objectively improvements?
Timothy McLean I'd say odds are pretty good. And I'm not a betting man.
***** There's "being upset at changing the things they enjoyed about it," and then there's "being upset at changing _anything_". There's also the consideration that improvement, refinement, and expansion are types of change...
I'll be honest, I was one of those "I hate change" types of players. I really didn't want to like Windwaker when it came out because it was so different from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I decided right away when I saw the trailer that it was going to be a terrible game (to be fair, I was all of 12 years old at the time, and kind of immature). When I finally gave in and played it (still at 12 years old. Man, my resolve was weak!), I was in love. It's not my favorite, but the cell shading is not the terrible thing people make it out to be. It was still Zelda. Now I own it on the Wii U too. This new game just looks like Zelda and Skyrim got drunk and made a baby, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Even if I'll have to constantly collect frogs to keep him in his idyllic green.
Well I'm fucking loving it so far so that won't be me. However, the 'dungeons' aren't that great, I much prefer the Shrines
this game is really good. but I was thinking that this game was made strictly for people around my age 28 and the people who grew up playing zelda. they raised the difficulty up in this one and sometimes I wonder if a kid would even be able to beat this game.
Love this game. But I wish there was a little more music because I feel so alone traveling with no music. I know they wanted the adventure feel to breath of the wild but I'm just used to having a field music theme which Breath of the wild is super quiet when you're traveling. T______T Every Zelda game had a field theme music & I kinda miss that.
Pakhou Lee i know right and every place you visit shoulf of had a unique song to it as that is what makes a zelda game memorable but nothing
TheDestroyer73 I feel the same. I love this game to pieces but there isn't a song that I really am tied to. One reason why I always loved Ocarina of Time & MM was cause the music drew me in. There's something about hearing Hyrule field or lost woods music that made me love Ocarina of Time so much. Not saying Breath of the wild doesn't have good music, but it lacks music that makes it feel so lonely when you travel. Maybe it's just me BUT I just wish Breath of the wild had played a little more music while you travel to the fields.
Pakhou Lee no it does lack it even though we get referenced to older games thinga are lacking in the game. I really liked that yawn sound in either ocarina or majoras mask ehen the sun would come up or set. I was hoping little things like that for this game but oh well
TheDestroyer73 I totally agree. Hearing the sun song made me feel reassurance that I'll be okay. Honestly I was terrified to travel in BOTW cause it was just so quiet. Sigh. Why am I getting sad cos of a game 😂
TheDestroyer73 I do agree, the sun song was everything. So was Hyrule field theme or termina theme ugh....... 😢
I was able to get the grandson of Zelda’s horse, with its armor
"Hamster mazes with green hats" has got me crying! 😂
Skyrim's horses are the best. Bar none. Can Roach or Epona scale near 90 degree mountainside? I don't think so.
Paul Juntilla Can skyrim horses traverse a continent in seconds to answer your call
No
Roach best horse
actually one skyrim horse can, well technically he can do something better, im talking about arvak the undead horse who you can summon, he apears instantly and since hes a summon even if he dies you can just re summon him
Yes they can. As mentioned by Brandon Withnell, you can summon Arvak the undead horse from anywhere in Skyrim. Roach is a great horse, no doubt about that. I like Roach, tbh, but Skyrim's horses are just better in more ways than Roach.
I thinks thats a case of dodgy physics than anything else
mvp
No mention of Link being right-handed? Luke, I thought you'd be with me on this! Lefties unite!
Only two Links are right-handed (maybe three if you conunt TP from Wii)
The Goddesses Knight was Right Handed. (Skyward Sword)
The Hyrule Champion was Right Handed. (Breath of the Wild)
Whilst...
The Hero of Winds, Hero of Time, Hero of Hyrule, Legendary Hero, Hero of the Essences, Hero of Light, Hero of Trains and Minish Hero are Left Handed...
However, the Hero of Twilight is ambidextrous.
I THOUGHT 1 OF THEM WAS GOING TO BE THAT HE IS HOLDING THE SWORD IN THE WRONG HAND!!
He already did that in Skyward Sword and the Wii version of Twilight Princess.
Link is not ONE guy, there's a lot of right handed links...
I hate that too. I understood it for the Wii versions, but, come on
That was the FIRST thing I noticed (but I never played any of the wii/wiiU titles)
Eric Jimenez Perez yeah link is the name of all the heros that accompany a Zelda to fight Gannon as part of a curse Zelda's mom's name Zelda the goddess blood princess from 10,000 years ago Zelda and the warrior link it's a curse link and Zelda will always fight Gannon
Best horse bar non, excuse me! Roach is far superior, who doesn't want a horse that appears in fences and can do cool tricks like get stuck in a wall and disappear from existence.
and can even duplicate!
>Thinking roaches are horses
Step up son.
Pff, those are nothing compared to Invincible. He can do all that and more, like fly you around wherever you want.

I think this was the best Zelda yet personally.
Enough. Have you played some of the most recent ones? lol
There are some things I don't care for but overall this is my favorite Zelda experience to date.
As much as I love OoT and MM, this one definitely takes 1st place.
I've played them all and I think this is possibly the best as well, the only thing lacking is the bosses being to easy. Hope hard mode will fix that
ive played them all including that pain in the ass second installment. I'm kinda torn between this and twilight princess, but im thinking this one still on top for me also. its nice to have a fresh feel to an old franchise. no complaints except I miss the bigger dungeons, but not to much of a big deal
I've played almost all of them, and I think it was amazing, although I still liked majora's mask more. But not by much. They both allow you to explore a large world, but majora's mask did it with time, not space.
It's always good to mix things up and take a break from tradition, honestly.
I wish you were able to ride and tame those giant birds from skyward sword.
I literally just got home and I could use a good youtube video to relax. Lo and behold; my saviours OXbox and OXtra!
I literally just woke up and I could use a good youtube video to relax.
I thinks its great that Nintendo decided to do something different with this game... Unlike other franchises
*cough cough pokemon*
McBoxx *cough Mario cough*
*Cough Mario Odyssey cough.*
well to be fair Pokemon isnt made buy Nintendo but i do agree with u tho i enjoyed Moon and Sun alot more then i have the last few pokemon games
McBoxx Y'know, because a complete graphical overhaul and Mega Evolution added nothing new to the series.
Jiratena precisely
The fact that there are NO BOTTLES in this game blew my mind.
It is just me who *loves* how expressive Link is in this game in particular? Just look at that bit with the dyes at 6:58... He feels so much more like a *person*, rather than a throwaway hero.
*Cough* Agro is the best horse. Bar none.
Scott Comber ayy
Scott Comber You know every person who ever played Shadow of the Colossus will find a horse like that and name it Argo
Agro is great...but he ain't Epona.
Unshaved Malevolence Now we can have both.
Unshaved Malevolence agro is a she.
Soo... you think Epona survived 100 years without the resurrection shrine?
Eh, its not like we haven't had like 4 different Eponas throughout the series, and like half the population likes to reincarnate everywhere
This is where I come clean, I have never played a Zelda title, haven't really wanted to until BotW. So i don't know anything about the lore.
Josiah Spriggs Cool, the gist is that the three big main characters, Link(or lonk, or billy, or whatever you named him in older games :P) Zelda, and Demise, this almighty demon of general evil, have constantly been reincarnating, Demise generally being, atleast partially, within Ganon/Ganondorf, its likely a good number of others like the coming back to life constantly thing as you often see some familiar faces, like Epona, though she is a horse so idk
The only broken rule that actually bothered me was that nothing happens when you light all torches in an area...
Maybe Link's tunic is blue because this game was originally planned to be released for wii U (what also happened) and the wii U symbol is blue
The blue tunic isn't even the games tunic, that's just a champion armor thing. The game has it's own set, the "Of The Wild" set
The Tunic of the Wild isn't Links. Its belongs to the Hero of the Failed Timeline and when I mean Links Tunic I meant the Champions Tunic. When I had wrote Links Tunic I hadn't got it in game and so I just called it Links Tunic.
And yes, I know that he's a descendant of Link just like other games. And in the Failed Timeline nonetheless.
Ramses Bartunek Yeah, and he gets that set after completing all 120 shrines. In Ultimate, Link wears the Champion's tunic and the Hylian trousers. He also wears that in all official BotW art.
Oh. There's also Ultimate. He wears the Champion's Tunic in it as his default skin.
No, in the DLC the king says it's a symbol of the Royal Family
Hey, hey Luke. Shut up. Epona is not the "best horse in gaming, bar none." I'm sorry, no matter how much you enjoyed Ocarina of Time and Epona you can't forget the only word you will never forget from Shadow of the Colossus: AGRO! I goddam cried when I thought my virtual horse had died. Yeah, beat that Epona. Oh right, you can't.
best horse is obviously shadowmere. Any mountaingoat looks like a clumsy jigglypuff next to it.
Seren from Fable pretty much broke my heart. I legit cried when she sacrificed herself.
Arvak > Shadowmere
Roach from Witcher rapes them all.
Traversing the war torn continent in mere seconds to answer your call and disappear from reality on a whim.
Not to mention the fact that he can appear anywhere
researcher that researches "Not to mention that he can apear anywhere." So can Arvak.
Last time I was this early Skyward Sword has just came out.
Link is now *right* handed...
"most importantly letting you surf on your shield like Legolas" made my day
Omg this game. It's so close, I'm there for the midnight launch tonight, it's already paid for and in less than 12 hours...... well.......goodbye society, it's been real nice. So exited
Saul Reid take a nap before going to get it. It's going to be a rough night!
I WANT to be excited by the Switch, and I WANT to be excited about the (few) games that are coming out. But I just can't quite get there.
h2whoa look at it this way. Nintendo is trying to release titles over the course of the year (every month a few). Gives more time for the developers to add things to the game. Spreads the hype over the year. They basically did this so they wouldn't be dried out with titles this year. And around holidays big games like Mario would come out (more would be released by then) and the switch would be cheaper. They are just playing the long game.
Well are you a fan of indie games? Switch will feature ton of em.
Another thing; most people don't know about the fact that nintendo is planning to utilize the switch as a VR / AR console too. Atleast they do have patents on those things ( :P )
h2whoa Nobody cares
sheedi pants
Actually we do.
Idc this game was beautiful and so fun. I'm glad they're making a sequel using the same engine.
I personally like that they did away with the name thing. Nintendo has always maintained that the reason they keep Link mute and give you the opportunity to enter a name is because they wanted it to feel like Link was YOUR avatar within the game world, not just some character you happen to be playing. However if they really wanted that they should have added in character creation as well as naming. Since they're not doing that it's good that they've removed the naming and going officially with Link
Is it a crime to have a crush on Link?
Only if it's a crime to feel the same about Zelda.
depends on his age and country you are from?
If Dashie can so can you.
Jonathan Hasiholan the original link is the hotest
If it's from the CDI games yes
I was with you until the blue thing. Blue?! That's just wrong! I'm just going to have to pretend the entire game is set in the water temple.
thegoshdarned batman calm down batman, you can change it.
I'm imagining you saying that in Robin's voice fyi
Saitama, The Strongest Man Nope, you can't dye it
thegoshdarned batman I like dat color :( but I sorta agree. You can get the classic green with the hat tho
Mr. ElectriDictator I think he means u can change the clothes
Man, I never know what I’m doing. Either that or I procrastinate like a true pro
I really love the game! As much as many others, I've finished it and now am trying to do all the "extra" things as in shrines and quests. It's such a detailed game! II love it!
But that's me and I fall in love with a game that pleases me so lol
Bri Vids
What I though it would apear in the video:
-Dungeon Objects
-You can do the story whatever you like
-Link can't... rolling around?
-the great fairy don't heal you
-You can use amiibo?!
-you don't get more hearts like in othed games
-There's only 4/5 "dungeons"?
-a very specific weather
-Link come back to life (he was already a hero and he failed)
-You have no companion (the sheika tablet don't count)
-Story (it's very short, isn't it? and you can make everything in so many orders!)
-Link's animation opening a chest (they put the jingle but where's the animation?!)
-Open world (well, that's cool)
-Link's clothes
-Link's name
-Voice acting
Tulipia5 you can get hearts have you not played this game?
Tulipia5 play the game bro.
-cutting grass
You do get hearts optionally from completing shrines and cashing in your spirit orbs, but it's not the same as getting a heart container after defeating each boss or a piece of heart hiding in the world or a dungeon treasure chest or a mini game. Also there is no heart item in the game to bring up your health like in previous games, only eating and sleeping.
Have you played they game?
NoiseDay you get a heart container for beating the bosses on the Divine Beasts ._.
technically they didn't break any Zelda rules considering they made this game how they've always wanted to make Zelda games
I think my favourite part of this Zelda game is that holy hell the map is gigantic, much much larger than anything I've played before. I love that you can do anything you pretty much want, and it's never just going from A to B
You can get links iconic green outfit, but only when you complete every shrine. It's called the hat, tunic and pants of the wild
No.4??? Well in my opinion, the Divine Beast *ARE* the dungeons. Even thou it's only 4. XD
GrandMaster Neo They're not dungeons though, there almost no challenge to them and only a few puzzles. You're literally told exactly where to go inside the beasts.
No, they only tell you where the Guidance Stones are.
Majora's Mask only had four dungeons
Actually. Breath of the Wild technically has 7 dungeons - the 4 Divine Beasts, the Final Trial, the Trial of the Sword and Hyrule Castle.
Majora's Mask barely counts as a Zelda game, even the development of it was only allowed by Nintendo under insane time crunch and only by one of the lead developers pleading to be allowed to make something of their left over N64 assets.
Top 7 horses in gaming?
Imagine pokémon utilized the same concept of batting and open world access
Now Poka-butt, The mighty horse that helped link defeat Ganon is links mighty horse of the legend!! >:)
Notification squadddd
Instead of walking into work that new outside xtra video.
They made basically everything kill able in the game but the d*nm cukoo
haley handley they are the true evil that cannot be defeated...but you can damn sure you can use those bastards as weapons....seeing them beast enemies is fantastic
You can throw one into lava
Epona is spawned by the smashbros link amibo and she come with a 100 percent bond.
But she doesn't have a 100% Spawn Chance.
@@briggsgametime yes she does
You guys missed the "Finding pieces of Heart" . . . The one that dissapointed me the most for not being in the game.
I mean, if you want to be technical about it, you could argue that the spirit orbs you get from the shrines are heart pieces, since you still need four of them to get a heart container or stamina vessel.
Pieces of Heart was a Pain in the Ass to get anyways, the better solution is getting the Spirit Orbs and each 4 can upgrade Stamina or Heart.
5:15 "Breath of the world"......???
I saw your comment the exact same time I heard it ha ha
No, it's Wild. It's just the accent.
Ha. Wow
Dammit I want this game so badly. Don't think I can get a switch though
Number 44 Its also on WiiU, You could probably get a used One fairly cheap
i wondering where the Link between this game and the other legendary zelda games
Are we sure the Hero's Tunic won't make an appearance later in the game? Since there are so many clothing options, I imagine it's bound to be hidden somewhere in Hyrule, and for once, with perks to go with it.
Either that, or you'll get it when you get the Master Sword. Makes sense, right?
Cameron Moore But that's the thing bro . The Hero's Tunic Is Apart of Link. Its the Games Iconic And Traditional Look. People say Throw Fits About link not being left Handed but i say that if he is not in his Green Tunic Than its not link. It shouldn't have to be to the point where we have to find it or go through special steps or use real world money to get it . Its been around since the start of the Franchise and to just take its Meaning away is a big blow to doe hard Fans like me. Its just how they made the MasterSword and Hylian Shield Useless in this Game. its disrespectful to its Tradition and doesn't feel like a Zelda game at all ?
I know what you mean about the Hero's Tunic being a part of Link's identity, since that's exactly how I feel about his left-handedness. Link's been starting out in casual clothes since Wind Waker, though, so it's well established that he has aspects of identity separate from his iconic garb. Granted, this is first time that he didn't immediately gain the Hero's Tunic once the tutorial's over.
I'm thinking that, this time around, he may earn the tunic as a part of his path to becoming the hero. Similar to how you've had to earn the Master Sword mid-game since its inception, and how Skyward Sword implemented the iconic Hylian Shield as an end-game item with substantial gameplay benefits.
From what I can tell, a major (and new) component to Breath of the Wild is the vast options in weaponry, shields, and clothing - all of which offer their own benefits, but are far from perfect. From a gameplay and story standpoint, it makes sense that the Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and Hero's Tunic would be the "best" items of each of those respective types; carrying with them many advantages.
It also would fit in with Zelda's long running theme of the character's (and player's) growing strength and experience. We've had to earn items, weapons, and heart pieces in the past to reach full strength; maybe now the tunic is one of those things. You don't start out as the full-fledged hero of legend. You have to build up to it!
Link and the player have always had to prove themselves worthy of wielding the Master Sword. Perhaps now the Hero's Tunic comes with a similar need of proven worth before wearing it.
At least, that's what I'm hoping for. It would make sense, no?
If there turns out not to be a Hero's Tunic in Breath Of the Wild, then it's sadly a wasted opportunity. For me, though, it could never prove as bothersome as playing with a right-handed Link. If anything, it would just soften the blow for me.
It's.....it's literally just an outfit. This is probably the best Zelda game they've made in years because it spits in the face of "tradition" and shakes the franchise up.
If you can't get over an outfit, you really aren't as die-hard of a fan as you claim to be.
You literally ignored all the other points lol. Maybe you should analyze each of our statements and see it isn't just ALL ABOUT the Tunic lol. But yeah
tbh I i can see the hero's tunic for this game being a dlc outfit, since the game was confirmed to have dlc later on by Nintendo.
Destructible weapons... Not sure how I feel about this. For certain things, like those spears, that's fine and pretty cool. And older zeldas have wooden shields that can be destroyed, but once you get the Hylian shield, it is indestructible.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the master sword can't break. But what else is immune to this? Can your grappling hook break? Do you have to find new bows all the time?
WIll there be "end game" versions of weapons or shields that don't break? Hrmm.
Yes you need to find new bows. I would say one bow can shoot around 15-20 shots before breaking.
15-20 shots? Holy shit are they made in china or something? A bow flimsy enough to break in only 20 shots that's just... Wow. You can make your own in the woods that would last longer haha.
TheDrexxus Lmao Bro the masterSword don't break But it has a Cool Down Time . HOW STUPID IS THAT LMAO and The Hylian Shield by Time you get it in this Game it's already over . They made them both Useless it's so sad
Yeah I was kind of worried about something like that. That is the problem when you add new systems like "breakable weapons". You either have to make shit breakable that shouldn't be (like the master sword) or you have to find some other way to severely (and artificially) weaken it's power and usefulness like giving it a cooldown or making it unobtainable until the end of the game.
I haven't played it yet, but decisions like that are just stupid I think. I think zelda games did just fine without breakable shit that imposed dumb regulations on everything.
The Master Sword recharges over 10 minutes, and is at half power(30 attack rather then 60, and probably lacking some awesome magical side effects) if wielded when uncharged, I've only seen it second hand through streams and the like, so I don't know what the durability on the charge is
The original green clothes r actually in the game but u only get them if u complete every shrine in the game. Which there is about 120 of them. Good luck
KillingMachine962 without dlc there is an 121st one
The ***SHRINE*** of resurection
The Fallen Hero's Set can be obtained if you completed all 120 Shrines and no, Tom van der Greft, the Shrine of Resurrection doesn't count to the 120.
Traditions that are broken that I can't shake off:
1. You can't roll
2. Link is right-handed even though there's no sword wii motion controls
shrines pale in comparison to original dungeons. Even the Divine beast aren't really enjoyable compared to the old game dungeons.
caboseBvR i have to agree, the dungeons from other zelda games are always a challenge and its just nice to explore...maybe for the next game or for that dlc
Hey, look on the bright side
No more pesky backtracking in the water temple :D
Vah medoh was amazing though.
caboseBvR yeah i wish there were more big dungeons.
The only good divine beast was the Zora one which was baddass
2:07 Agro!
Well, wasn't Link the name for the very reason that the character is the "link" between Hyrule and the real world? Basically,... a Link Between Worlds... eh?
Samuel Coppens More like a "link" between the game and the player, but yeah.
Fazz Satoshi Even if now that there's also voice acting and the story is really important it will be even more annoying that I can't play as a female
except that link is a very specific character..it's like asking to change samus's gender or geralts or marios.
Anders Bright But he changes in every game! I understand not changing past characters but it's a new hero every time. The only direct sequels are phantom hourglass to wind waker, majora's mask to ocarina of time and some others. And since they would only need to change one character and maybe a couple of dialogues I still don't see the problem. With Samus I wouldn't mind if they changed her but no one asks it because you almost never see her and she doesn't have a love interest or anything. The problem is mostly if the love interest is forced on you wich can be a problem even with male protagonists played by males. It's just how some parts of the plot are perceived that make the difference. In wind waker Link is more of his own character so I don't mind so much but in Skyward sword it felt way different even if I still care when I consider a character my friend. And it's fine even in that case if it's done right. I just hate the feeling that I'm living the story in a different way than most people when I just want some more choice. I'm not asking to force everyone to play as female Link and male Zelda to feel the difference or something. I just want a different avatar
Keion Wordsworth Yeah I would like to play as Zelda too. Just to don't get trown out of the story every time any love interest shows up. And she has a cool bow.
Wow they seem to have ignored the fact that the cdi zeldas had voice acting
I JUST WONDER WHAT GANON'S UP TO!
Dave Lessard mai boi, don’t you fret about Ganon. Hwahahah. Cheers.
We all ignore the CDI Zeldas
w E D O n t T a L K a b O u T t H A t
we dont talk about those.
pardon me for my noobiness , but why does everyone use the old version of LOZ:ocarina of time when theres a better version w/ better graphics ?(thats the one i played)
Not everyone likes the new 3D Ocarina of Time.
well... epona or whatever the horse's name is, probably died 100 years ago PAY ATTENTION NUBS!
True, but the amiibo summons her identical great-great-grandfoal or something.
Just a Planet Yeah, but this a Zelda game: everyone just reincarnates each generation!
good point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i guess.
haha they should put epona in the tub w/ link in the shrine of resurrection :'D
Just a Planet ikr
Imagine if Link was voiced by Nolan North.
I'd love me some NN moan and groans
Amos Chew haha i read your comment and thought you meant you'd like link to make the groan sound like "NNNNNN"
My top three pics for Link voiceactors are Bryce Papenbrook, Vic Mignogna, and possibly Todd Haberkorn.
I always imagined Link being voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. He has the perfect yelling voice and he can go from serious to totally happy go lucky at any time. His voice is also young enough to portray any number of characters. Young Link and Toon Link might have different voice actors but for every other Link, Yuri is perfect!
I do wish Zelda was voiced by Michelle Ruff though. ;.; She has a youthful and yet mature voice, she would have fit Zelda in this game perfectly. Especially because she already has that "kawaii" vibe to her.
Link and Lowenthal?! No thank you - the dude already has more than enough without him becoming the official English voice of Marth.
I'd agree with AlphaXTitania's first pick if we were going to give Link a voice actor. His voice is about as close to the legendary Nobuyuki Hiyama as I can think he'd be (though I arguably also noticed in my research that he has a new VA - another rule broken).
98/100 In metacritic .
Not only that, highest rated game since GTA IV and that was 9 years ago.
"epona is the best horse in video games bar none" well, them mountain goats you liberated in nier beg to differ. yes yes they're not horses i know.
Mark Mandal ehat about Geralt's Roach?
Argo from Shadow of the Colossus?
Mark Mandal Every horse in Skyrim?
well argo unfortunately meets his doom, roach can be any horse according to geralt. but them goats they're timeless. immortal even.
Mark Mandal Agro doesn't die dude, lol
Looks pretty good. But I'm not spending that much money on another Nintendo gimmick console.
The Wii was a rather successful gimmick console, maybe this one will be too. I'm hopeful.
I never in my life thought I would say something like this, but the vibration seems like it could actually add to the game with it's detail. I didn't think anyone would ever make that function useful on a console, but here we are.
SpeedKills lol okay
It's alright as long as Nintendo supports it decently. But they pretty much gave up on supporting their Wii U base almost immediately. And Switch has some massive early cons - weak battery life, low processing power, unconfirmed 3rd party support...
Gimmick :v it has controllers instead of only shit remotes.
Not watching the video, just wondering why an Xbox themed channel is doing a video about a Zelda game
The best horse in video games in agro from shadow of the colossus
Same. *Same*
Roach from witcher
Shadowmere would like to have a word.
TheAnonymousGamer Ha, *Horse* would like to speak his mind
They aren't yoda types they're Monks
It was a joke. That should've been obvious.
I missed the dungeons. This game needs more, better dungeons. Or at least more underground explorable areas or something.
All i heard were reason why BOTW is the best installment yet.
I honestly wish there were more voice acting, I have always found it annoying to listen to the mumble sounds that Nintendo uses. Glad to see they have at least given into that a little bit.
Krioux3 maby the next title.
Krioux3 first time i see that...
Krioux3 I think we all learned from faces of evil it is not a good idea
Luigi Plush Productions It could work if they use the voice actors they've been using for a while
Say it with me now:
"For a series that has been around for over 25 years, there aren't really any actual 'rules'."
This whole video is a waste of breath and time because the whole premise is flawed.
No pun intended?
HA! I didn't even think of that when I was posting. xD
Sure there are rules. Every Zelda game from Link to the Past through Skyward Sword followed a very basic formula... this one was like a hard reset, similar to the original NES version, but with some new mechanics that are completely alien to the Zelda franchise.
Well, that series has managed to keep a lot of play elements pretty consistent: dungeons with puzzle based bosses, collecting items that give you new moves and attacks in dungeons, a lot of those items (sword, bow, hookshot, bombs, torch/lantern, power glove, bottles, et cetera), and stuff like that. I think that can pretty safely be called the series’ “rules”, and the games that do differ either add their own mechanics to the core gameplay (Minish Cap’s shrinking, Twilight Princess’ wolf form, Skyward Sword’s sword controls, etc) or are clearly intended as spinoffs (Hyrule Warriors). BotW’s working on a completely different formula from previous games certainly is exceptional, and is actually made more so by the series’ extent, not less (#logic).
Wow egoraptor understood zelda lore way better. You talk about all these "staples" of the series, but half of them were introduced in ocarina of time, boo.
digitalparker and OoT was introduced in 1998. 19 years ago. Definitely a while. Since then there been plenty of Zelda games, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Link Between Worlds, so on and so forth. Now, let's name some things that were introduced in OoT that are now staples of the series. Rolling, having a mount, Gorons, (I believe), and a lot of other things. _A lot_ . If he'd said that ever since Link turned into a wolf it's a staple of the series, he'd be wrong. If he'd said ever since Link rode a bird, it was a staple of the series, he'd be wrong. As he mentioned several things that were introduced in OoT that are staples of the series, he's right.
But what do I know.
digitalparker amen to that
These arent rules these are just changes!!!
All very good points, and the reason why Breath of the Wild is the best installment in the series. Having fixed weapons through entire campaigns of combat has always been BS and something that has always been criticized. For dungeons, I think you forgot to mention the fact that each guardian beast is a mini dungeon as well. Not just the shrines. And Epona only existed since Ocarina of Time and was actually only present in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. Which means there are 14 games where Epona is never even mentioned. So saying that is a rule is kinda retarded since Epona has not been a constant in any way. Also the whole "definitely Link" there is a zelda game called '"Links Adventure" there is also another one called "Links Awakening" if that isn't enough to make you realize that you are Link no matter what you want to call yourself, then I mean...... ok. It's not really a broken rule there, sure you don't get to pick the name but you always knew you were called Link.
I also want to add 1 quick thing. 99% of the people saying all the other Zelda games were open world, sorry you have no idea at all what you are saying. Open world means you can do anything in any order, this is the first Zelda game where you can actually do that. Even in the first Zelda you couldn't. Sure you could get a bunch of stuff before the first dungeon, but you couldn't do th second or third or fourth dungeons without doing the first. That is what open world means.
no open world means you can to anypoint on the map at anytime. so your saying it's 5 and rdr aren't open world?? don't be stupid
Gabriel Calderon Jesus christ
What you don't seem to get is that what Pedro's saying is that by GABRIEL's logic, not PEDRO's, games like GTA V aren't open world. Since they obviously are, he's arguing that Gabriel's logic doesn't hold up.
Actually in my old speed runs of the original NES Zelda, I would run the 3rd dungeon first. This was of course before the days of drop counting and wall frame glitching in speed runs. Also BoTW only solved the problem of no order of dungeons by completely removing the idea of dungeons in the first place. Sorry but motion based mini-golf games are not my idea of a good Zelda dungeon replacement.
Gabriel Calderon to say a game has to give you COMPLETE AND TOTAL freedom to do ANYTHING in any order you want in order to be considered open world is pretty ignorant. As pointed out even in games that are obviously open world like skyrim or gtav, you still have to do things in a specific order to complete the game. (As bad as you want to, you do have to do some things in a certain order if you want to fight Alduin without using glitches. If you want to be really picky, sovngaard is an area of the game you can't reach without progressing through the story, so I guess skyrim isn't really open world either huh?). And as someone stated before, the only way they accomplished this open world feeling anyway was by just completely removing the zelda dungeons from the game and giving us crappy excuses for dungeons in the shrines and beasts that don't deserve to bear the zelda name.
And obviously epona has only been in a few games, but the point is that every horse that HAS been in a zelda game up to this point was Epona. So Epona had a 100% monopoly on the "horses link gets to ride" market until botw. So yes I would count that as setting a standard.
Breath of the wild is definitely not the best game in the series anyway. The thing is unbelievably flawed and unfun and after forcing myself to play in it for around 70 hours just to try and find the secret fun buried in it I just gave up. The game sucks.
I absolutely hate that all the weapons and shields can break.
me too mate
I think its great, I never once ran out of weapons. Even after beating Ganon I still had an entire page of 60+ strength weapons
i wish some weapons were 100% unbreakable, like all the Story items.. already made the bloody bow thrice because i love it so much :(
soulure fooking noob 😜
A ton of hours in now and I've changed my mind about the weapons. When thought of as consumables and given that they aren't level locked in any way, I'm actually enjoying the hell out of the system.
