@@davemaxs4136 Never. This is a tradition. And it is good to keep our traditions. As a German I keep mine as I learned from my Grandma. Everyone shall keep his roots. That is all we have. And that has nothing to do with facism. Best wishes from Hamburg/Germany
You sir must have heard me playing my bagpipes the only army private to play the bagpipes since the age of 12 and all thru high school. I still in Connecticut for military veterans and fallen first responders funerals as my respects to their families and loved ones.
A yank of Scots descent, but I was 11 before I ever heard the pipes. It set a fire in my blood, and I *ran* to find the source of that glorious sound. It had stopped by the time I got there so I went door to door, asking if anyone knew -- and it turned out it was "Auntie" Ruth McLeod (from Lewis no less!) who was feeling homesick, and had put a record on. To this day, the sound of the pipes sets a fire in my soul.
An Aussie of scots heritage...my father played the pipes and as a weeun I would keep up behind him as he paced....the melodies are burned within me forever.
Being from the US, I take great pride in my heritage! I've never had the chance to visit Scotland, but when I close my eyes and listen to this beautiful music, I can feel a connection. I know many people who don't care for their genealogy, but I'm proud to have the name Carmichael!
I am Scottish and have a love for my homeland which will never be destroyed. I'm not the bagpipe playing, kilt wearing type, but my heart, soul, mind and body cry out for my people. I realise the English of hundreds of years ago tried to rid the world of every culture but theirs. And yet, here we all are, around the world, every nation trying to find a voice, be heard and respected. The British r.f. have lied and continue to do so. Perhaps the timing is God made rather than man made.
My older brother took me to see the black watch in downtown New Orleans when I was about 10 years old. It has been in my blood ever since. Nothing like it. Very very proud of my Scottish and Irish ancestry. Although born in the US I feel very akin to Scotland and Ireland. Every time I hear the pipe and drum I feel a part of me calling. Long live Scotland. Long live Ireland. Keep playing that lovely music!
I love the pipes an drums, I listen to this over an over,it's great. The video is magnificent, the colorful aerial of the drummers an pipers is stunning. I just love the sound, thank you for sharing,
I am an American and I absolutely love this. I get chills everytime i hear it. Many of our Police and Fire depts have Scottish heritage and have bagpipes and drum corps.
Such beautiful music and rich culture. It makes me want to travel to Scotland and learn more about my Clan Keith ancestry, and experience these awesome pipes and drums for myself!
To me, there is nothing, I think, more moving than the skirling of the pipes and the banging of the drums! I was listening, spirit roused and heart filled with feeling ... and then these braw lads & lassies broke into 'Scotland the Brave," and I broke into sobs .... I'm a big fan of Highland music, but there's something very special about this gathering. Thank you so much for sharing - I shall play it again & again.
As a Scot, the sound and sight of the Pipe Bands stir my heart like nothing else does. I,m so proud of my country, I,ve traveled it from all directions to all directions, It gladdens me to think of visitors from other countries who come to love it as much as I do.
I can never get over it.... I'm mainly English but am a quarter Scot via my Grandmother on my dads side and it always stirs me to hear the bagpipes ... as it happened my grandfather on dads side was also boarders (reavers of old) so on that side we were a bit of a bad lot siding with whomever it was politic at the time ... my mum was straight north west English ... put is all together though with this music and I go wobbly in the heart... thanks loved it
It is Dec 31, 2019, and I am in my living room listening to 'home'!! I was born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland where I stayed with my granny. I've been in America since 1962. Last time back was 1997-98 but I could no longer live there. No longer understood the money or the metric system. So I came back here to the coast of Oregon where I have the sea at my back door. I'm thinking of the times my grandparent and I with an aunt and uncle went to the St /Margarets Ballroom and brought the /Near In and went First Footing on the way home. The world has changed since then and a friend said First Footing is hardly done anymore. Happy New Year and good health in 2020!! And lang mae yer lum reek!!
My sincerest thanks from the Blue Ridge of Virginia! My paternal ancestors reach back to St. Tears, Scotland. The clan Robinson, a sect of Clan Gunn. The pipes have always stirred my soul! I hope that one day, I can stand on the ground of my ancestors and talk to my relatives that remained in Scotland! A short story about bagpipes. My wife and I bought a small plot of land when my son was two. We put a small house on it. One afternoon shortly after moving in, I was mowing the yard and clouds starting moving in. Then I heard the pipes. At first, they were barely audible but after five min, I could hear them clearly over the lawn mower. My wife walked out of the house and asked if I heard them? I asked her, “You heard them too?” She had. I cut the mower off and walked up the road to see if I could tell where the pipes were coming from. We lived in the country and houses weren’t real close. I didn’t walk very far past my property before I couldn’t hear the pipes anymore. I walked back to my house and as I reached my driveway, I could hear them once more. Then the wind started to pick up. My wife and son were outside listening to the pipes. I looked up and the clouds had turned black and were swirling slowly. I grabbed my wife and son and ran inside. We could hear the pipes over the wind, rain and hail. The storm passed quickly and so did the pipes. We found out that just over the hill where there was a small lake, a tornado had touched down! I know it sounds unbelievable, but it’s true. More incredibly, over the ten years we lived there, three other very bad storms were predated with the pipes. The difference was that the next time I heard them, I made sure the dog, wife and kids were in the house first! We’re in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so we get storms, but we only heard the pipes before the worst. I asked all my neighbors if they played the pipes but none did. I asked if they played recordings and all said no. I shared my experiences and they all acted like I was crazy, so I didn’t bring it up again. But since moving from that land, I’ve never experienced the warnings again. To this day, we look back at our time there as the best time of our lives. We were truly blessed!

Probably .01% Irish American but have always had a love for Scottish pipes. As a kid my dad always painted this picture of a foggy morning on a battlefield... can you imagine hearing such a sound coming your way in that fog? Gives me chills everytime I hear pipes and drums. Keep your heritage alive for the rest of the world... We love it!
I am pleased to see some wee ones scattered throughout this wonderful gathering. It is our duty to instruct the young in who we are and in treasured traditions so they can equally love them, take great pride in their heritage, carry them forth, and preserve them for future generations.
Fell in love with Scotland. I visited Edinburgh and the highlands last month, after that I justo want to go back and stay there for a couple of years or at least a few months Greetings from Mexico
Speaking as a person with family ancestors who fought and died along side of William Wallace, I can't listen to drum and pipes like this without my heart overwhelmed, tears of fire flowing out of my eyes and goosebumps all over. Love you Scots!
@@keithmuir5077 aye! well, chances are.. if my ancestors were there in Wallace time, they were there when the pipers showed up, so the power is still felt
There isn’t a single sound on this planet that moves me more powerfully than massed bagpipes and drums. As an American who has become very in touch with my Scottish Heritage and who has visited my family’s Ancestral Castle in Scotland this sound makes me feel so connected to my ancestors from over 800 years ago. Clan MacLeod, HOLD FAST!💛🖤❤️🖤
If listening to the pipes stirs your blood, playing in a band among other bands and counter marching like in this video, multiplies the feeling. I envy the youngsters in this video. Brings back sweet sweet memories of a long time ago.
Real Men wear Kilts 😊🤗 All the Best for such a touching and powerful display and I was born at the foothills of Stirling Castle and my Maiden name was Duncan Ty again ! Freedom
I don't know the reason, but this music tugs at my heart, I love the sounds the views, everything Scottish. God bless Scotland and everything Scottish! - From South Florida, USA!!
There can never be anything better than the sounds of the pipes and drums, always gives me goosebumps. Best wishes from a Cockney with a quarter Scots blood running through my veins. 👏
My maiden name is McAllister and I lived in Scotland when I was a kid my father served in the United States Navy. I went to Scottish schools (was petrified of the headmaster by the way) and embraced the Scottish culture and I absolutely love it. I so miss the sweetie shops, fish and chips and the little shops where you could buy everything
America is my nation, but Scotland is my heritage. I long to go back, as I haven’t visited in over 25 years. The people always treated me with warmth and the whiskey was always smooth.
My mother was a Robertson, descended from a warrior who stayed in the Netherlands around 1763 (7 years war ). I do not know why, but I feel the connection and love this show.
My maternal grandfather instilled in me a great sense of pride in our Scottish heritage, the Keith clan, along with the sounds of pipes and drums. Two of my favorite hymns often played on pipes, are "Amazing Grace" and the "US Marine Corps Hymn", both I want played at my memorial service by a lone Piper. God bless the Scottish homeland and all Scots around the world!
I love seeing this. So much going on here, and played with so much heart and soul. Rehearsed, timed, and executed in such an awesome fashion. Like a well-oiled machine, these men made this musical experience happen. It hits one in the heart and soul, while leaving you longing for more, even after it ceases being heard. God bless the people of Scotland, and god bless you in your awesome musical talent!!!!

I get goosebumps every time I hear the pipes......for my son’s 26th birthday had a surprise birthday party and invited ALL his friends and old friends......hired a piper from a Indianapolis and he came down and started in the yard across the road, farther away until he could be heard by everyone and especially my son, who just stood there with the biggest grin on his face, wife at side. Will never forget it!. My son, like me, has always liked the pipes.
I love this so much. I can feel it in my Scottish blood. I hope to someday see something like this in person, I can only image what all that droning in the air must feel like!
As a teen was in the pipe band. Practiced all this stuff. The march throughs, and massed bands. Never forget it! Can't do it anymore. Love to watch it, and relive the memories of when I was doing it.
so many thanks for this! I'm in Western North Carolina and missed the Highland Games this year. My soul needs to hear the pipes. I cried with joy in hearing this. Thank you. Soul fed.
To march behind the pipes is something else. I have done many times with the Irish Guards. I had the honour of marching from St James' Palace to Chelsea Barracks behind the Scots Guards and the Irish guards pipe bands. We all felt 10 feet tall. Amazing
Oh how I love a good Pipe and Drum band.. Just watching them maneuver around the field brings chills to my body. Thank you for his, I could watch you all the day.
Fantastic. I am an American, but like most of us I have Scottish blood in me. This performance really tugs at deep emotions. I can't help but notice how similar the drum part is to that of an American High School band taking the field before a football game. Probably no coincidence.
Damn, really Scotland, this is so awesome and impressive ! I would scared the hell out of me hearing theses songs becoming closer from my position in close combat. Respect from France !
Many thanks for this beautiful tunes from Germany ... it is remarkable that the coulors of the kilts are the same as the woods in the background ... :-)

Aye, a sound that calls to the heart and soul. I've visited Lewis several times, a lovely remote place.
I'm an Aussie with Scottish blood. I was the same age when i saw a bloke playing and told my parents that I wanted to learn.
An Aussie of scots heritage...my father played the pipes and as a weeun I would keep up behind him as he paced....the melodies are burned within me forever.
U're welcome ye Piper... 👍🏻

I am Scottish and have a love for my homeland which will never be destroyed.
I'm not the bagpipe playing, kilt wearing type, but my heart, soul, mind and body cry out for my people.
I realise the English of hundreds of years ago tried to rid the world of every culture but theirs. And yet, here we all are, around the world, every nation trying to find a voice, be heard and

The British r.f. have lied and continue to do so.
