- Chris is still in Portugal, so Lara had the tough job of flying to Spain for the launch of the all new Triumph Street Triple 765 R & RS.
Is the RS at £11,295 worth the extra money over the R at £9,595, we ride Jerez and the roads in Spain to find out.
#triumph #streettriple765rs #bikeworld
Lara, Chad, and Chris are the perfect trifecta for a TopGear like motorcycle TV show.
Thank you and thats a good idea! Also great use of the word trifecta, I’ll try and get it in another video 😜
That's a brilliant Idea!
1down5up 6GEAR 🏍️🏍️👍 On the BBC 😂😂
We are a motorcycle TV show, we broadcast on SKY in the UK, 100 other countries and MAVTV in the US.
Lara with Zack and Ari would be fire.
Out of nowhere, Bike world has become my favourite channel.
You know the hosts are wonderful when watching a video makes you happy no matter what mood you are in.
Thanks!
Thanks Jason! Its hard not to smile on events like these!
I was worried I was gonna miss Chris in these videos considering how high a bar he has set, but Lara's killing it with these reviews.
Cheers Hamza! Go team!
What a brilliant video, really enjoyed Lara's perspective on the bikes and their place on the market. I think a dual video with Chad would go down really well too! The RS is unexpectedly becoming a contender for my next bike...
Thank you Rikky! Its great to work with Chad too :)
You could do a whole lot worse picking a next bike than a 765RS….. it is such a capable basic motorcycle… ok, it rails like a (very good) sport bike and does track days but it really is at home commuting or just “being a dude out on a bike”. What I like about my wife’s RS is that while it isn’t exactly brain-off fun (it’s proper quick in its envelope), it isn’t heart attack serious like my bikes. Truly an enjoyable motorcycle in every way.
What a well articulated thoughtful review, Triumph is knocking it out of the park with the variety and quality of models in their production line
The boys are going to have to lift there game ;), Lara's review was simply awesome, very relatable with her feedback, it felt like i was on the same level and understood the feedback she was getting from the bike, hat off Lara and well done Triumph.
Cheers, she seems to be going down well.
Thank you! It’s all down to good editing 😊
@@Laramoto Well, that, and you being a badass.
We want more reviews from her!!! What a terrific way of explaining the differences between these two bikes.
Thank you!
@@thomaselliott573 neevesy must be your boyfriend
Watching Lara riding, especially attacking the curves, is unbelievable. Her review is sharp, technically professional and made me wanted to acquire a Triumph bike. Thank you 🎉.
I think she likes it! 🤪🙌 Brilliant video and review Lara. You and Adam really made that RS sing! Thanks for explaining the difference between the two bikes, like you I prefer the look of the TFT on the R and as you said, if you aren’t riding in track then the R is more than capable! Congratulations guys on another great video! 😁🙏
Thank you Phil!
Everything I love about my 19 R/S! Great review Lara, can’t wait to have a go on the 23
Just have to say, this is exceptional presentation. Have never watched this channel, but am planning on getting the RS, so am watching all the reviews. Now you're getting a subscription from me.
Great combination of relaxed attitude, fun, and knowledge. And you have a on-screen watchability that is (sadly) a bit lacking in a lot of the former-print journalists. Really only matched by Zack, Ari, and Neeves. Anyway, looking forward to the next reviews!
All the bike you need … and a fantastic review!
Cheers Craig!
bike world is probably the best motorcycle related channel on youtube
Thank you so much!
@@Laramoto Thank u Lara!
As a 60 year old track day rider and former club racer this bike is on my radar. This review was so informative. Great job Lara. Chris should be nervous 😅
Thanks for watching, Chris, Chad and I are a great team 💪
If you’re a trackday guy, you’ll appreciate the throttle mapping-its the first fly-by-wire bike I have ridden that doesn’t have harsh throttle response in slower corners that upsets the chassis.
@@nunyabidness9257 That sounds encouraging 🍻
I’ll bet you’re a riot at parties…
I thought she did a great job. Must suck to know that a woman is faster than you and can articulate the fine points about a motorcycle better than you can.
Jealousy can eat a man up….
What a fabulous video! You can really feel the energy, a breath of fresh air 💪🫶
As always Lara knows her sh*! And if/when she laughs and giggles during a test ride then you really know that this is something awesomely good and fantastic. 👍
Great to hear the perspective from a first-time Street Triple rider. Your giggle at 2:24 said it all. 😂
There was about 2 hours of giggling, needed to cut it down 😆
@@Laramoto Hahahaha!! 🤣🤣🤣
@@Laramoto And in the end, that's what bikes are supposed to do - leave you giggling like a little kid and with a smile on your face. Thanks again for the video. 😁 Now I have to decide if I want to upgrade from my 2021 Street Triple R to the 2024 RS (financial resources is always a challenge, too). There's enough there to make the upgrade worth it, IMO - the upgraded engine and braking components, the IMU, linked brakes, and the option for cruise control (yes, I've found myself wanting cruise control on my 2021 R on occasion).
Really, really good video. Nice, understandable, honest opinion on the bikes. The best bike review I have seen in a long time.
The RS is so insanely gorgeous… Like wow what a piece of art. Would buy it for the looks alone.
after watching all the new reviews on this bike that just came out, this one is definitely the best. not too short or too long. and i was fully engaged the whole time.
of course, i usually say the exact same thing when Chris is the host. maybe team them up and do some comparisons.
I find that display was much nicer on previous generation of R and RS, the way info was presented on it.
The headlights are a combination of my 1999-2010 round headlamps and the look they had been playing with these last 20 years. They’ve blended the ascetics together and they really pop
Great job lady!! Great review!! I really enjoyed this video.
Lara, great review, thank you. I also watched your review on the Monster 950, which you seemed to like a lot. Which one would you go for, riding country roads? Monster sp or Street triple rs?
Hello! Thanks for watching… you can’t make me choose tho! Depends if you like twins or triples 😅
Great job by Lara on the review. Moto 2 has proven those engines will take sustained hard riding. Great looking bikes, my wife has run a 675 since 2015, put 32,000 miles on with no problems.
Not keen on the dash of the R, but overall, the Triumph still looks the best middleweight naked.
Thank you for watching!
This video pushed me over the edge on buying a striple R. I was between a XSR900 and the striple R (I know very different but not really) and this video tipped me over the edge of purchasing the R.
Great review, enthusiasm, action, camera work, and mixing it up with the editing style too.
I agree that most of the race bits are "better" for racing. The secret is, the less harsh street bits are generally better on public roads that aren't as well manicured as Jerez. Be that as it may, I'll pay for and live with the harsh suspension, it that's the only way I can get the Ferrari yellow one.
Haha ikr. The track focused models just look way better than the R. Kinda unfortunate because that’s the only reason I’d buy an RS over the R, next to maybe the TFT.
Or the devil incarnate red.
Stunning bike! Great riding and commentary, Lara. I appreciate the dialog between you and Chad as a well. It must be so thrilling to ride Jezez for your first time. Cheers!
Thank you MadChalet! Jerez was exhilarating and really enjoyed chatting to Chad. :)
…..and let us not forget that incredible Triumph Triple sound. Nothing like it.
What was your psi on your tires on the track vs the road? Cheers
765 RS still one of the best bikes out there. Had a 2019 and loved it and still miss it. Great video and review.
Thank you!
Really good review. More and better explaining than most journalists. And its nice that not everything is a total sausagefest
My last bike was a 1996 ZX7 which I’ve had from new. Thinking about getting the R. I’ve never ridden anything with any electronics or even fuel injection. Anything I need to know about ride by wire etc? Thanks
What a great video, thanks @Lara and @Bike World for bringing this great review!
Did you find the RS suspension too harsh on the road at all? The R seems like the perfect current naked and makes me miss my 919.
Not harsh, just responsive and you have the option to relax it a little anyway. But then, the R sits perfectly in that road use only category...
I saw Lara in the background of a different video the other day. I said to my wife, “hey that’s Lara moto walking in the background…”. She was not impressed. I get a little giddy over some things. Super job L. 👍🤪🇨🇦 ps the video was about this launch.
😆
Great review - thank you.
Sounds like the R is the one for the road, but is the RS compromised on the road because the suspension is too firm and/or the power is too peaky like a 600 supersport?
I still have my 2011 675R which had a good amount of torque thru the revs which made it very usable on the road.
How does the R and importantly the RS do in that respect? Any difference between them for sporty road riding?
I tried the original 765RS and it was too peaky 😞.
Fear not, the RS is fine for the road and the torque band is identical on both of them... try a test ride to make sure it suits you!
@@Laramoto thank you for replying Lara. I'll give them a whirl! 👍
This makes me want to go out and buy one. Lara is bloody brilliant
Cheers scoot!
@@Laramoto awesomeness 👍🏻👍🏻
The laugh is all you need to know!😂😂 the RS red is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wonderful review. Makes me miss my old 675 😢
Lara knocking it out of the park, again. Outstanding review.
Great review. I don’t like tft on R. What year are we on Triumph?
Best test I‘ve seen so far.
Great onboard shots - as it has to be 👍👍👍
In other channels we see 90% of the time the journalists.
Brillant bike. I suppose it will be the new meta 2023 in its class.
Lara where have you been? It was great to see you out there on the 765 doing your stuff. Will we see more of you at bike world?.
I’m trying to do more around the day job 😊
I’ve got the RS on order and it can’t come soon enough. I’ll be bashing it on my channel too. Cheers
Let us know how you get on with it...
Thanks for the comparison of the 2 motorcycles. Listening to Lara talk about the R model as being more of a perfect street ride, rather than a track oriented as the RS is is nice to hear. Me being a non track person. I think I too would be just fine on the R. Most of the reviews i've read and seen everybody wants to compare the to motorcycles to each other not to what I think they were designed for, one for more track oriented and one street. Saying that the RS should be the one you get... because of the extras. It appears that you don't need all the extra bling all the time for a great street motorcycle. Are RS's better brakes, or that Olins shock, really necessary if your just riding the RS on the street and not using it to its full potential ?? Hmmm...Give me the R.
Yep, you’ve got it in one! ❤
Awesome video, loved it ! One question still: would you say that it is worth spending the extra money to get the RS compared to the R? If I understood well, the answer would be no, but still wanna make sure I got this right. Thanks !
As Lara said, it depends what you plan to do with the bike. It's nice to have the bling but if you don't plan to go to the track spend the money on the insurance and some new gear.
@@BikeWorldTVshow cheers guys 🙏
So guys now that you drove both. Street triple rs or monster sp?
Nicely done ,great revew , enjoyable to watch ,
Thanks Martin
Thank you!
She is great ! Amazing content ! What a team you got 🤩
I want the RS with the low bars of the Moto2 edition. Might trade in my Gsxr 750 at the end of the season. 😎
Thank you! Clip on shopping for you then.. but I'd ride it standard first ;)
With those flying hair while cornering it's hard to tell it's you or Chris behind the bars 😝😝
Great review! Looking absolutely dialed Lara.
Feeling dialled too, the bike helped ;)
That was a very good watch. Well done team
Thank you!
Due to the new stock exhaust we can no longer install slip-on exhausts? We must go for a full exhaust and remap?
It's due to the new anti-tampering laws, we're not allowed to have fun anymore.
The street triple is without a doubt one of the best road bikes on the market
Great video and honest, BTW what brand is the camo bike hoodie, Thanks
Thank you! It’s a Spada 👌
Great review, who needs Chris..
We all need Chris! 😆 #teambikeworld
I didn't think I wanted another naked bike but now I'm itching to try one of these..
It’s only a test ride away!
The cool thing about the R, is that since 2020, its the same engine as the RS. No difference. Same cam, same fuel and ignition tables, etc... The difference in top end power is 100% done in software, with the ride by wire tables. You twist the throttle to 100%, and it only delivers 100% until 6500rpm and then it dials things back to 81% opening of the throttle plates. That's it. That's why the RS makes more top end power, because the RS keeps the throttle plates at 100% until redline.
You can easily change that on the r, with TuneECU and an Android phone or tablet. Takes 15 minutes, to give your new R, the full RS power band.
We did ask the question about a tune, they didn't answer...
@@BikeWorldTVshow Yeah, they won't. I have already pulled both maps and opened them up and I see exactly what they are doing. I have also unlocked the ECU for others and their bike instantly picked up power. They used to do it with a different cam and tune, prior to the 2020 Euro5 model... But they started using the same exact motor in both bikes, and they can create two different power profiles with software for the two different models, at two different price points. They save money on tooling and only need one assembly line for a single motor, and the rest is now done in software. Shortens the parts list that they need to buy or stock for making bikes, or warranty replacement parts. Makes much more sense to do it that way and control the power output with software. Other companies do it as well, but at least with Triumph, you can easily unlock that stuff and get full power back...
When you think about it, it's no different than Rain, vs Road vs Sport mode, etc... They just take it a step further on the R model, to hold it back a little so that the RS makes more power and helps justify the higher price tag. 🙂
@@BikeWorldTVshow I made a video about this comparing the maps. Again, this ONLY applies to the 2020+ Euro5 models...

Really interesting info Dave, thank you for sharing
Great review two excellent bikes and the young lady is very easy on the eyes 😉
Very enjoyable review. Great riding skills. Keep it up!
Thank you!
Lara is a great asset . Obviously a very talented rider but she’s also very eloquent and explains her thoughts easily and in a way that makes her reviews very watchable
Cheers Martin
Thanks Martin!
So I could get this as a new rider and put it in rain mode?
Well done Triumph 👍🏻 Great bikes! Great review 🤙🏼
Thanks Craig!
Great review and it was nice meeting Lara last month 🔥🦾
Hey! Thank you, you too!
As a street triple owner, these bikes are amazing. Will have to try the new one!
Yes you should!
Is better than the other 900cc naked bike though? That is the question.
Sounds like we need to do a head to head!
@@BikeWorldTVshow yes please!
Very informative thanks
Top review by a top reviewer!
Thank you!
Brilliant review Lara great detail and balanced opinion on the r vs rs.
Thank you!
I just can't get over the headlights, the bike looks like a mantis from the front.
Great video though! I'm still surprised by the price.
What a great review.
As many have already said, a brilliant review!
Cheers!
Thank you!
I will disagree and say circular headlights are timeless. I prefer circular headlights over designer pieces.
It is a subjective thing...
Circular headlights just say “old bike” to me 🤷🏼♂️
I agree, and find really hard to beat some iconic design standards. Also it is subjective what it is subjective. I understand that peoples taste differs
@@BikeWorldTVshow you are right. That is what I appreciate about the aftermarket. If I don’t like the factory equipment I can swap it out for something I do like.
All today look like mantis🤣
Enjoyed that video. Loved the look of that red.
Thank you Ben!
Does the RS handle better than the 890 Duke R?
Great informative review.
Great review by a very knowledgeable rider.
Though, Lara, stop trying to sell us the “R”!
Who are you kidding? 😂
Ohlins rear shock, 10bhp more, far nicer dash, revised geometry and the most important in my opinion, Brembo Stylema calliper’s.
It’s the RS that we want.
That dash on the “R” looks like something off of a VTECH toddler tablet. 😂
Ah, well the R does suit people that aren't fussed about track time... why pay more? I thrashed the R on the road and it didn't need 118, never mind 128... ;)
@@Laramoto I’d want all of the goodies, if I was paying that kind of money for a bike anyway, I’d want all it could offer. I’m kind of used to that in my last few bikes. I think it’s great that Triumph have a lower spec’d, slightly more affordable option though. As you know, quality brakes and suspension make a huge difference on the road, especially if you are like me and not built like a grand national jockey 😂
I'm a little confused the lower horsepower models are 2023s so aren't the 128 horsepower models 2024?
Thats a brilliant review
I can’t tell you how agonizing it has been to pick between the 765RS and the 1200RS…. I’m a big bore sportbike rider with some serious motorcycles in my garage, my wife is also a serious rider from before I met her and I talked her into a used 765RS two years ago….. it is an incredible motorcycle…. I can go about as fast as I want on it, it’s fun to ride, it doesn’t drink gas or destroy tires, and I don’t hurt when I get off it.
The dilemma is that I don’t like the leg room and the 1200RS is a big improvement there… but they made the tank smaller for 2023 and I really liked the tank range her 2018 offers because I can fill up at the start of our riding loop on it and make it home on the same tank of gas, about 160 miles if fast riding. I/m tired of bikes that run dry in 105 miles….
Hello Nunya, thanks for sharing this... I think you know your solution, and bikes need to fit their riders - that's critical! Tank range I can't help with, its full taps for me 😆
Great review - not too technical more rider perspective 👍
I've got the 890 duke which I'd say is specced more like the 765r, whereas the 890r would be up against the 765rs. I'd love to see a road test between the lower two. I really don't know which would come out on top for chucking then enthusiastically round twisties and touring, both of which I do.
Ktm would brake down few times that's for sure
@@lukaszg74why? Is there a problem with the brakes?
@@lukaszg74 I think you mean "break" 🫣

Separate video then for the rs moto2 edition ? I guess it will be just that much sharper then the rs, but i'd still really like to see a video of one hooning about the track as I love how it looks..
Sorry no, they’re all sold so nothing for us to ride.
Hmm, interesting, good for Triumph!
Thanks for the reply and the great video
Great review, want T shirt "bikes are awesome"
Merch is on its way!
Waiting for my R to be delivered soon😊
It’s an absolute beast on track and in streets

It’s seamless, no issues whatsoever 👍
@@Laramoto thank you so much Lara for taking the time to get back on it,appreciate it 😊,huge fan of your work by the way seen many of your reviews and nice to see you here, keep going 😀.
So the quickshifter on the R also works great ryt like in town at low speeds and all?

Excellent review.
I haven't seen Bike World for a while.. Who is this Lara girl? Seems she knows her way around a motorcycle. :)
Lara's new to the team, only her second trip with Bike World.
Glad you're back!
My fav bike, got the first gen, still awesome!🤙💦
Same, its the best bike I have owned..,
Wonderful bike, it’s a pity the dashboard doesn’t stand to its overall quality, in the end I even prefer the R’s .. thanks ✌️
I was surprised that Bike World would put somone on a review for a Triumph Triple that has never ridden a Triple engine before, I understand that everyone needs to start somewhere but its not difficult for the presenter to have test ridden bikes off camera prior to the review. I feel that the other presenter who was more knowledgable on triples which helped explain the bike alot more. It was more of a review about the differences between the r and the rs, rather than last versions bike or other bikes in its class or even what makes the new bike different. Thank you for the review, just wanted more please
As Lara said in the Vid, Chris is still in Portugal. You're right, everyone has to start somewhere, she has a full time job so doesn't really have time to go testing bikes off camera. Chris will be riding to bike back in the UK in a few weeks, hopefully we'll he'll cover some of the information you're looking for.
She's a racer. Translated: She knows how to stay at the top of the powerband. I'm guessing on I4s.The 765 Triple is closer to one of those in delivery, than it is to other triples like the MT-09s. At least to me, for a bike like an STR, it's much more important that the engine obviously works for someone used to "screw emissions, rev to the moon" race bikes, than whether she has specifically ridden a triple before. Now, if she was reviewing something as off as KTM bringing back a track suited version of their 690 single, that would be different..... Then I would want someone with thumper experience to review it, as it would be too darned foreign to most I4 trained racers. But a 765, I see no issue. The STR triple, is very I4/sportsbike/racebike in character.
Bike World has a new star… Chris who? 😉
Chris Noooorthover of course! ;)
@@Laramoto thank God you replied! As a 60+ male who grew up in country Australia my attempt at humour often goes down like a lead filled end can off a 2023 Suzuki VStrom. Always been a Chris fan, now I’m Lara fan too. ☺️
I still can't be in peace with those headlighs... but a RR version of this... just add the front fairing and round light.
