    I've just purchased the R model, I've purchased the seat cowl as an extra ,it looks great ,I agree that it was down to preferance as I don't do track days ,I have the silver ice colour and in the sunshine the matalic flake certainly shines ,this is my first Triumph I've always had Suzuki in the past but this Street Triple is an amazing bike👍

    For me, since I do have the obligatory 1.5h highway run before hitting some fun twisty roads, the fact that the cruise control is only available on the RS was also an important factor. That and the yellow paint of course :)

    I agree, I’d go for the RS - on the strength of the paint scheme, better brakes and bar end mirrors. Lovely looking bikes. IPhone works a treat as well 👍

    It seems like the RS is worth the extra money. ( seat cowl, belly pan, LCD display, sport tires, Ohlins shock, better brakes, 10 more horse power, 2 pounds lighter, and allot nicer color. Im just not into the grey color. and the yellow and red are really nice. I test road the RS and really liked it. one of the nicest sounding stock bikes I have ever ridden. and I feel at home sitting on it. unfortunately where I live the price is allot more than most other places. the only negative is that its a naked bike and I was getting hammered by the wind when riding it. as far as how the two compare. I like a tachometer that looks more like a real tach. so I don't like the look of the tach on the RS. and I like the lower seat on the R and the softer suspension. but I think I would still have to buy the RS.

    It's not just the callipers that are different. The master cylinders are axial on the R and radial on the RS.
    The m\c tends to make a big difference, anyone that's fitted an upgraded\aftermarket one will know what I mean.
    Great comparison, agree on the red colour it looks great out in the wild.

    In theory the R would suit my riding best but the colours would probably sway me to look at other bikes instead. I agree with you and miss the brighter colours triumph used to do. If the offered other colour options, even for a couple of hundred quid extra, would be a good move.

    There's no doubt the R has to be one of the best value bikes out there... but tbf the extra money for the Rs is definitely worth it considering all the multiple upgrades...
    Both Brilliant bikes, probably just comes down to how much you want to spend!..
    Picked up my Carnival Red RS yesterday and absolutely loved the first 100miles... what a bike!..
    Well done Triumph!!..🙏❤

    As to the bike comparison, thanks for that. It would be great if you could answer the rear shock difference by taking the bike to a suspension specialist or even having a tinkering with it yourself to see if it could be made similar to the R. That would make for great content as everyone else is saying they’re different but nobody has tried to address the issue.

      You need to adjust the suspension on the RS to make it more compliant on the road. Once done it rides just as well as the R if not better. So, in fact the RS is the better bike. You have a greater range of adjustment. It's just that people are not setting it up when they should do.

    I've just purchased an R as I don't do track days. The red and yellow are an extra £200 making the difference £1900. Although I did opt for the belly pan at £143 plus fitting and a fly screen and visor bringing the total to approximately £10,000. For the road the R is absolutely brilliant. The white in the R is also an extra £200.

    Think the "R" would be more than enough for me. I dont think id fancy a morning commute on the "RS" with those tyres on it either. They look like old racing cut slicks! Shame the colours on the R arent better tho! Great vid!

    • @MattSwain1
      @MattSwain1 Год назад

      I have an RS from 2020 and I suppose I had similar concerns. I’m not a fast rider and I don’t do track days but I still bought the RS. 3 and a half years on, I bought the bike outright 6 months ago because it’s so good and I intend to keep it. I set the suspension to it’s comfort setting and it’s not harsh at all. The tyres are basically road legal racing tyres but they work around town just fine… I suppose the only downside of them is I wore them both out in just over 5000 miles and they were pretty expensive for a new pair so that would be something to consider if you do a lot of miles. All that said, if I was to buy one of the new bikes I would buy the RS (even though the R would be good enough)

  • @PutOnYourLid
    @PutOnYourLid Год назад +12

    I have ridden Both Bikes extensively, and I really noticed how planted the RS was at high speed. This was! At higher speeds the 'R' felt loose and a little scrawly on high speed bends on the edge of the Tyre. I blamed the cheaper Tyres, but I believe it to be a combination between Tyres and Shocks. An average commuter wouldn't care or shouldn't care, however a sporty rider will notice this quickly! The iphone footage was really Good mate. you should consider a gimble for your iphone to make it easier for yourself! Thanks Bro

    Camera angle good, I had noticed the fish bowl effect before, but this when looking at the bikes was much better. Loving Triumph bikes right now, excellent.
    On another note: Nearly a month ago now I had a RTC on my push bike taking a 'quiet' back road to avoid all the summer holiday traffic down here in Penwith Cornwall area, as a result my Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro will not be ridden now for a good few months (missing out on all this nice weather too!). I gained speed to 28mph down hill and went round a back lane corner only to find a land rover and campervan stationary trying to pass each other, I had to ram (est. 25mph) between them. Multiple injuries including cut and black right eye (face planted the road helmet on), grazed knee, hip, sprained left elbow and wrist and finally broken right non-displaced proximal humerus and displaced distal clavicle fracture. Pain pain pain! Now trying to move after nearly a month. I can't drive ride for a few months more or lift anything. Aim of cycling was to build up my fitness having gone through a right lung pulmonary embolism last September, again didn't ride much as on blood thinners back then. 14 years ago broke five ribs on my right side smashing my right shoulder for the first time.
    So, my point being, thank you for providing some excellent vids to help my mental state and get me through my issues and pain. Whilst I may not ever ride a push bike ever again on the roads at 55 years young I've stopped short of selling my Triumph and look forward to September when I hope to have built my strength back up again, but noted your air vest protection vid, perhaps I may invest in the "Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Airbag vest" to stop further bad trauma to my right should\arm
    ibs.
    Fingers crossed my recovery will go smoothly, but only able to lift my shoulder an inch or so for now:-(

    Interesting that we bikers have a need for style and performance that’s often mitigated by our sense of frugality. But, while frugality is tethered to practical matters, for the majority of us motorcycles are totally optional and have little to do with practical matters. So, for me, after deep reflection much math and complex considerations I’ve concluded . . . I’d take the yellow one.

Specially on the seating position bit I would have liked a second camera to see your side instead of the front and the perspective was already a bit fisheyed. So if you use 2 cameras in 2 different positions for your garage talks?
    I've never made friends with the insectoid look of Speed Triples or others like KTMs, but I'm sure that to ride one must be a big pleasure. Triples are my favorite motor concept, "the best of both worlds", smooth and wild unite! I prefer the look of the Trident, more classic tho, perfect bike for sunday afternoon back lane weazzeling. But it will mean an increase in seat height of 14mm (I can just about flat-foot it on my current bike). But something to note about Triumph genuine accessories - buy them when you get the bike! I bought some accessories at the beginning with the hopes of buying others later but Triumph stopped production a few years later.

    I definitely like the iPhone camera angle better and if you have the latest Pro model, you can get quite close to some objects when filming. And if you do decide to stick with the iPhone, there are plenty of gimbals you can use to create a really steady video.

    Using the iPhone was a good choice. The action cams are great for riding, but the short focal length introduces a bunch of distortion. Incidentally, for much the same reason, I have always appreciated that you switch to your iPhone for the roadside segments.

    • @Omar-kw5ui
      @Omar-kw5ui Год назад

      @@TheMissendenFlyer Yes I did notice that, and you can see some noise in the garage shots probably because the lighting isn't good enough. You could have fixed those in post by adding a little more sharpening. Overall though, the picture looks less distorted than the Go Pro and the colour looks a lot more natural. You could easily improve the image quality by a significant margin and get rid of this softness simply by adding good lighting. This way you won't have to add sharpening later. You could of course invest in a DSLR. But, a DSLR would also benefit significantly from studio lighting, so I would encourage you to go for that first if you don't already have any. Did you record this in 4k 60fps?

    Decent & helpful vid TMF. Firstly the iphone looked great / better for the garage footage imo. As for the bikes, it's heart vs head stuff I guess. If you're not going on track then the R is the one to go for but they'd always be a little bit of you saying....but the RS.... It also looks absolutely stunning compared to the somewhat drab R. Plus if you were so inclined, after you chuck on the seat cowl, bellypan & barrend mirrors etc, there's not that much in it, especially if you had it on finance.

  • @edxr250r

    Both great bikes, pick a colour you like and enjoy. As far as I'm aware, the geometry change is a result of the the rear end being raised ~10mm (with a spacer maybe?) hence changing the angle of the forks (according to Stuart Wood at the '23 launch presentation). Not sure whether the RS rear suspension could be set up as per the R (by removal of spacer if this exists...) for shorter riders that use the new RS on the road and don't need the faster turn in that is achieved by raising the rear end. I say this as I have ridden plenty of road miles on a '21 765RS and it is very responsive from a handling perspective, I wouldn't want quicker turn in for the road but appreciate it might be better when used on the track as it would also improve cornering ground clearance slightly. My previous point of reference was a '16 675R which was a great bike (my first Street Triple) - comparing the two, the most noticeable differences are: lighter throttle on 765RS(electronic throttle), lighter clutch, significantly more power from mid range and up, more compliant suspension, very good quickshifter and autoblipper. The only downgrade (in my opinion) is the configuration of the TFT which seems a little fussy and difficult to read (other than speed and gear position) when compared to the old 675R or indeed the '17/'18 TFTs fitted to the 765 R and RS's. The I phone video seemed fine to me - love the content and presentation as always😉👍👍

    Dribble !
    I did get a test ride on the '23 R version recently. Haven't tried the RS yet. As expected, I loved it.
    Yes, the metallic orangey-yellow on the RS looks lovely. Red would also be fine.
    Silver or Grey don't do it for me (camouflaged), and white can be a bit bland. That would be the only part that would swing me towards the RS.
    Bar ends mirrors, I'd need to add them to the "R". They, apart from looking better, do give me a much better rear view. Less watching of my elbows ! ( I've had them on a striple, a speedie 1050, and they're on my speed twin )
    I'm sure, no cruise control on either. I used that quite a bit on my speedie 1050. I miss it. Very useful for 40 MPH limits with cameras.
    This should really be on the RS. I can see the blanked out place where it was on the pretty much identical plastic switch gear that was on my speedie 1050 !
    The smaller fuel tank capacity on the '23 striples would annoy me a little bit as compared to the tank it replaced. Maybe I should get a "pre loved" striple, in red !
    Finally I'm trying to resist spending a lot of money, we'll have to see how that goes . Maybe I just need to get regular test rides :-)

    Great review, as always! Both bikes look like winners to me. But one thing that seems to stand out to me more than on other bikes (or maybe I've just not payed enough attention) is that cable running along the outside of the front exhaust. I assume it's the clutch, but it just looks more exposed for some reason, like it could get snagged on something. Again, I'm probably just not that mechanically knowledgable, and this is likely a non-issue. Looking forward to your next video.

    Andy, always enjoy and learn from your efforts. The iPhone approach works but could use some polish and further development. I'm sure you'll sort it out with more production / usage / experience.
    Perhaps Mrs. Fly can help with the phone... unless you're in doghouse purgatory from that Erin / beer misstep. 🙂 I also suggest taking the bikes outdoors, if weather allows.
    I read through the 200 + comments and didn't see this mentioned, so I'll add it for consideration.
    I realize you did not find much of a difference in the seating positions, HOWEVER, from this viewer's perspective you looked 'more forced into the tank' on the RS and 'more relaxed' in contrast on the R. Since both bikes do not have centre stands (corrected for Kings English) having someone hold up the bikes so you could sit on them properly would, I believe, be helpful to your audience.
    FYI, previous 2020 RS owner. Current 2024 (US) R owner. I had a choice between a red RS and a white R. Went with the R.
    Keep up the great work!
