Watched a few reviews on both these bikes all give great reviews, so didn't think that you would be disappointed with it a nice review as always plenty of information,
Not owned a modern Triumph had a late 1970s Bonnie ,
Would like to see a touring version of this and the 1200 .
The Trident is a little bit low on power for me, but a nice bike ,
I am looking forward to the next review for a comparison ,😊

One thing I don’t understand about the Street 765s are the dashboards.
It seems to me that the 1st gen 765R & RS from 2017-19 had perfectly good and easy to read TFTs.
For some reason they ditched those for the 2020 models and have yet to release one that’s as good.

Here’s a business plan for builders in Missenden:
    1. Buy a new Street Triple R.
    2. Have it painted black with gold wheels.
    3. Sell it to TMF.
    4. Wait for a call from TMF about a garage expansion.

I was able to visit a Triumph Demo event and this was one of the bikes I got to ride, I rode the Triple R in white but my mate was able to ride the 1200 RS in orange. It was a real blast to ride and not really as intimidating that I thought it would be, very comfortable but the only complaint I have is when coming to a stop your bits are pressed right up against the tank which was a bit uncomfortable for me but other than that the bike was spot on. Definitely not really a beginners bike but it's not bad for a 2nd once you're ready to move up, the power is easily manageable if you can keep the throttle hand in check and it's there for when you want it. I test rode a Street Triple RS and an MT-09SP back to back and even though I'm also a Triumph fan, I'm the owner of a "classic" 2010 675 Street Triple, at my 6ft2in height, the cramped up riding position of the Triumph Vs the roomy Yamaha was a no brainer. I'm now a very happy owner of an MT09-SP. Although I've kept my 675 as well as I couldn't bear to part with it.😀

The dumbest thing about this bike to differentiate itself from the RS model is the way the DRL's/headlights are set up. Unlike the other differences it just makes absolutely ZERO sense. I can't gather any cost reason, and think it is purely cosmetic. I plan to book an R this week. With the exchange rate in my country the jump to RS is too much for me personally. But that headlight bothers me. The lovely belly pan in the RS is not there, but at least I can add that as an option. Can't do anything with the headlight. Enjoyed the review very much. Cheers!

I went for the RS (in cosmic yellow) as I thought it was a slightly plusher ride but the new shorter gearing on both bikes gives the low and mid range acceleration a significant boost to the extent that you don't really feel the RSs extra 10 bhp until the top of the rev range, I'm with you 100% on the Rs TFT being better than the RSs, the one on the RS is too cluttered and is a bit Fisher Price but the extras on the RS like the Ohlins rear suspension and Brembo stylemas won me over but most of all the colour.

Thought I'd revisit this video as I'm seriously thinking about one for my next bike (and to get back on safer ground!). I think this R model is probably the one for me, maybe with the addition of the optional belly pan... although that lovely yellow colour available on the RS is very tempting.

Those sinuous & organic looking downpipes (allied to the bike's power output) more than suggest to me, that in the land of sending hot gases round corners, some serious thought & fluid dynamics malarkey has been layered on that exhaust system.
(I doubt they first tried a pair of 'Ray-gun' silencers off the original 750 triples though, - they'd probably weigh more than this entire bike - & likely halve the power! : )

The one thing the R does not get is the option to add cruise control. You can in the RS though. Not sure why they made that decision. Maybe to get more into the RS. Not a dealbreaker for me as I don't take long highway trips

Hi Andy, I do think that for the money 765R offers more than excellent specs. It still is very naked though of which I'm not a huge fan and I wouldn't consider one to be honest. I did test ride the Triumph tiger 660 sport and it was a real surprise. Loved the engine and comfort of 660. Do you really need the 765R performance on the street? I found the 660 to be fast enough already......

Great review Andy. lovely machine and true, you really don't need any more power than this on the roads of today. But why is the R only available in 2 colours and mono colours at that. Triumph have been making more effort with their colours as of late but the R should be available in that nice red and/or that gorgeous yellow. Anyway, I think you need a Street Triple in your life Andy, no doubt. Go on mate treat yourself to one of those gorgeous yellow RS models. You know it makes sense.

  • @sambagogo777

The Triumph site's configurator for the new Street Triple 765 is really confusing in relation to the security devices offered. It doesn't let you choose both the alarm (Protect+) and tracking device (Track+) together. As the description for Track+ makes no mention of it featuring an alarm system I therefore presume that the new Street Triple 765 can't have an alarm system plus tracking system. It's one or the other. That seems bizarre!
Also, the configurator won't let you choose the Connectivity module along with Track+ or Protect+. The descriptions for Track+ and Protect+ make no mention of them featuring what the Connectivity module offers. So are we to presume that customers wanting the Connectivity features can't also have the alarm system or the tracking system? Again, that seems bizarre!
To further confuse matters, I checked to see if it was the same for the Trident whereby I discovered the situation differs to the Street Triple 765. With the Trident it's possible to choose the Connectivity module plus Protect+ or Track+ together. But, like with the Street Triple 765, not Protect+ and Track+ together.
