  • This is to recap on A previous video showing how this water heater was not working for me correctly, I am not sure positively if this is supposed to be normal but for higher end units I know you can leave the gas on.

    You have the water regulator on the heater at minimum you need to turn that up and the temp will go down. I have had one of these. I now have one that has a digital thermostat and regulates it's own temp to what ever you set it for. So worth the extra $100 or so. Got mine for $249

    Excellent thought with the adjustable regulator! I plumbed mine directly in to the LP lines in my RV and the same with the water lines, directly plumbed from in the RV. There are a number of issues that come in to play though... 1- My tankless heater is about 10ft from the shower so you have the initial cold water like any tank or tankless shower. Then 2- The new temp of the incoming supply water which could be from a garden hose or underground water line will then be effected... Then 3- You have the new temp again from whatever is pushing that water through the water line... Unlike a convention 40 gallon hot water heater which regulates the temp in the 40 gallon tank, these on demand are subject to the changes of incoming water temperatures. My water is scalding and my shower regulator doesn't solve the problem. But your thought about regulating the incoming LP may be the answer. I thought the regulator inside the heater itself would do that, but apparently not. Appreciate the great thought of an additional regulator! All the best, -Mike

    There is an internal water pressure adjustment.I have used to get mine to work with a harbor freight sump pump in a bucket and with a hand pump closed pressure system using a pump up sprayer. I haven't tried gravity feed but probably would need it pretty high. Needs 5 lbs air pressure in the hand pump tank.
    Update 17 July 2021; 5 gallon bucket 15 feet elevated over the heater heater activates the switch and provides enough for two wet down, scrub with water off, then rinse showers. Still works fine with city water pressure also. My calculations said 12 feet elevation would be enough to turn on the solenoid but I had an 18 foot 5/8 hose and the ladder and the crotch of the tree next to the camper made 15 the spot to try!

  • @charlesdonaldson962

    It looks like possibly what you have on your tank is more of a needle valve set up for a higher pressure thing like a different type of burner than a usual barbecue pet. You just need a new regulator for your propane tank. You can also buy a gauge to take the pressure At the heater, but the regulators are 20 bucks or less. And you can take the little plastic 3/4. Inch OD cap off the center and lower the pressure. If you need to with the screwdriver counterclockwise.

    I have a 5 pound adjusting regulator on mine. It allowed a wide range of hot water temperatures. With the supplied regulator if the incoming water was very cold the only way to get water warm enough for a comfortable shower was to turn the water control all the way down, that wasn't a hard enough spray to do a good job when rinsing shampoo from hair.

      Yes, with water pressure it will activate the solenoid! I normally turn off the gas & heater switch after each use! My process, on= water pressure, propane tank valve, then heater switch. Off= propane tank valve, heater switch, then water pressure. Helps it cool down when done with a little circulation after the heat source is gone!

I was trying to do it cheap my water comes from a water tank 20 foot above boiler and never worked. Cheap shit from China. I'm looking for a good one as I live off Grid. great video I was praying you had solved the problem.

    • @baldrickscunningplan6154
      @baldrickscunningplan6154 3 года назад

      You have a different problem than this guy. He is using wrong type gas bottle and regulator. Too much gas pressure and the solenoid in the boiler is not strong enough to open with too much gas pressure. The solenoid is only 3 volt.
      Your issue seems to be water pressure. These heaters are designed to run on mains water pressure. They require a minimum of 2 bar of pressure. It is difficult to get 2 bar of pressure from small low voltage pumps. I have seen many people using 240 volt sump pumps. These will deliver the pressure but using 240 volt is dangerous.
      There is a simpler way around it though and i can't believe i am the only one that has thought of it. Let me know if you want me to explain how it is done.

    • @baldrickscunningplan6154
      @baldrickscunningplan6154 Год назад

      @@thomassutherland409 You simply bypass the water pressure switch. There is a microswitch mounted on the water inlet valve with two wires coming from it. The valve is designed to operate that microswitch when there is 2 bar of water pressure passing through the valve. This swich turns the boiler on when there is enough pressure. Your aim is to get the boiler to fire up with less water pressure. Simply fit an inline water flow switch to the cold water inlet on the boiler. These flow switches work on much less water pressure.
      There are also 2 wires on the inline water flow switch. Simply connect these wires to the 2 wires that were soldered to the microswitch. Now the boiler will fire up with less water pressure.
      There is a drawback to this mod. You cannot turn the gas valve up too high. If the water in the boiler heats to over 70 degrees C. The boiler will switch off. You will be effectively running the boiler with less water flow, so the water comes out much hotter. Therefore you use less gas. Adjust your gas valve so that the water passing through the boiler does not get up to 70 degrees C. Remember, as the water in the spa starts to heat up. So will the water coming out of the boiler.
      Here is the one I used.

  • @tryduck6993
    @tryduck6993 2 года назад +1

    You need a twin stage regulator which brings gas pressure down to a 10-12" WC pressure (lower then PSI). LP should remain on to unit.IF you hooked up unit to higher then 11" WC gas pressure then you damaged the gas regulator inside unit (there is a regulator just above where gas line goes into unit) and thats why you have problems, they cant handle more then 1 psi gas pressure before getting damaged. IE you hooked up a LP tank either direct or using a single stage LP regulator which isset at 5 psi or the 10psi single stage regulator. Looks like you have a single stage regulator on tank in video. Check your gas pressure to ensure its at 11" of Water column pressure . This pressure will not show up on a 1-10psi gauge and need a WC gauge to read.

      @@michaelwaggoner2577 If you restrict the water flow. The boiler will switch off. These units are designed to work on mains water pressure, which is approx 2bar. There is a diaphragm switch inside the unit. Not enough pressure will see the unit switch off. I tried a couple of 12 volt centrifugal water pumps. Neither of them gave enough pressure. I then found a 12 volt diaphragm pump. The type that is used in RV's and Boats. It works fine with this pump but the pump gets hot, so i added a 12 volt computer cooling fan to keep it cool.
