Great vid as always. I've used one of these in my van for last 2 years. Only use it for the 1st couple if hrs on the cold mornings. Makes such a difference when it's cold. Just make sure the insurer is aware of carrying a propane bottle. Didnt make any difference to my insurance cost.
Hi there. After a lot of research I think I've found that answer. The Rinnai Infinity 17 e 36kw External LPG Gas Water Heater sold by Calor Gas in Ireland and Northern Ireland approx €700 is continuous flow. As far as I know it stays on for endless hot water 💪.. The only downside is its 240 volt for the frost protection but an inverter should solve this problem.
I've bought 5 of those type of units, all different Chinese makes, and all have the same problem: too hot. I've put in-line pumps on their respective water inlet pipes, and still they're waaaay too hot. They're all rated for LPG (not natural gas) and I feed 'em LPG. I welcome any informed suggestions on how to get my HW-on-demand units to work well. Years ago, I resided in Asia and installed a half dozen similar units, and they all worked fine. Over here in the USA, they don't work for me. Do they have flow-restrictors built in? I'm miffed.
Hi Dave, regarding the over temp cut off. It's if the water in the boiler gets to over 70°c it will turn off. The only way can happen is if you have reduced flow.
Hi I'm trying to link an outside tap to have shower and hot water on my moored boat, do I need to get something to control the water pressure/is there a recommended water pressure I need to do this or can i just connect a hose and turn tap on at any pressure ? Cheers
Dave, regarding the 20 min timer. Any pause in water flow resets it. You don't need to rest it. All you need to do is stop the flow of water flow then re start it, if you can, just kink the hose at the brush end for 2 seconds then release. It should fire back up.
Thanks for the great tip. Unfortunately when I used it on a job I was using the heater to fill the tank in the van so that wouldn't have worked how I was working.
I want tot use one of these from a standing water tank. Any idea what pump i can use to feed the water into the unit? for info, its for a homemade hot tub.
Over the past 5 yrs I've bought about 5 new units like that - each from a different manufacturer (all Chinese). My problem with them is: They heat the water too high, even at the lowest settings ('summer' / lowest flame / highest water pressure). I've even put in-line water pumps on the inlet pipe to increase water pressure, and they're all still to hot. I'm desperate to find a fix. Any expert suggestions are appreciated.
Squeaky can you advise me on what turbo lance nozzle that is suitable for my 6.5 Clarke pressure washer I believe that I need to get the right size thanks Dave ….
Hey, just wondering how you winterized these machines? Have a cabin and when we leave for a couple weeks in the winter just wondering the process for reliving the pressure? Thanks
Great video! I’ve bought one myself. Installed almost but I don’t have or find the right fitting for connecting the water hose. Do you know which one I have to take? Thank you in advance.
Hay buddy I've bought this machine but the instructions are unclear... when I put the batteries in the display isn't coming on and I've switched it on...do you know what I might be doing wrong
Another great video Dave , well explained as usual, was thinking 🤔 of getting one myself after seeing you clean that cladding, but as you said you wouldn’t use it for permanent window cleaning , I’m thinking of changing my tank with a built in heater in the near future, it’s time for some new equipment.
I first bought one about 14 years ago, it has lots of uses in our business. You say you would not use it for window cleaning im curious to know why not.
Hi dave quick question. If you was to use this for window cleaning and left in the van overnight. How do you drain any excess water inside so it doesnt freeze? Cheers
Hey there thanks for the video! I have a similar shower (a couple of months old) but recently the electricity doesn't work properly. I changed the batteries and it worked one time and then not again. The click for the ignition is not happening and the temperature screen isn't coming on. Any clue on what might be wrong? Thanks! (The water pressure is not great but the same as ever and the gas tank is pretty new)
Thanks for replying! it seems to be working again. We took the batteries out, cleaned the battery holder and so far so good. It's possible that it Is actually water pressure related, I couldn't notice a difference but the pressure is weak always and maybe there was some work going on with the pipes. We will see!
Hello Dave, is the 18L flow too high for our pumps? The flame fires normally and heats the water quickly? I thought that only 6L was suitable for my pump, but please don't
Dear Dave, I have a question. I am looking for a heater myself. I want to use this to heat an outdoor Spa. My question is whether the system is completely made of copper on the inside. The seller states that he uses copper and stainless steel. But if the water system contains stainless steel I cannot use it. The chlorine in the Spa will then corrode the stainless steel. No further information can be found here. Maybe a review of the inside😊
Hi Jan I didn’t take the heater apart so I’m afraid sorry I can’t answer your question and I have now sold it as I no longer had a use for it so can’t really do another review on the insides Sorry I couldn’t help👍
I have one and use it on a hot tub and a pool. It's mainly brass and copper. Mine is the 18lpm version but doesn't turn off after 20 min (it's ment to, just dosent). But I use it with a WiFi switch with temp sensor (sonoff TH16) you can get it to cycle as in run for 19 min, then off for 1, then back on again for 19min in a cycle.
Hi, Is there any internal differences between a 10/12/14/16/18Ltr model? I have a 10Ltr and a 15Ltr and there seems to be no difference inside them? Is it just a gimmick that the temperature rating changes at at each different 'Litre per minute' model? haha
for example the 10Ltr/m has a higher temp output compared to the faster flowing 18ltr/min? as the water doesn't have time to heat up due to faster flow
Does anyone know if a shower head with a stop start button can be used on this shower. Im looking to use this shower in my van. I will have a open close a valve that lets water enter the shower im looking to be able to open the valve and whilst showering use a stop and start shower head as a switch whilst lathering then when im finished ill close the valve feeding the shower when not in use.
If its Been sat for a while? The solenoid may have got stuck. Way to check Is when the heater starts up and you only hear cracking from the spark and no initial clunk from the solenoid, it's stuck. Try givung the solenoid a tap when it starts, one it is operating normally, turn the heater off/on multiple times to exercise the valve.
@@flyer152 I got it working, thanks for your reply. Turns out it must only use .5 psi propane regulator. If it's more than that it won't operate. Really do appreciate you taking the time to help!

I was using it off a tap so I’m not sure. The spec on it say 4.9 GPM but it also says low start pressure. Might be worth contacting the manufacturer. There is a link to it in the description

If you've never used gas bottles before, Use the correct spanner to tighten the tapered hose connection. Failure will lead to gas escaping
Good advice

I don’t see why not

What size wratchet / spanner did you use to tighten it?
Sorry bud. It was a long time ago and I sold it after I had used it for that job
Hi Dave, I presume it would only do 18l/m at a much colder temp and 6p/m at the hotter rate?
Yes Ryan that’s correct. It was doing 33°c about 10l/m
What does the red light near the gas inlet mean?
There isn't a red light on the bottom. I think you saw the red hose's reflection onto a domed screw head.
