For those asking; they’re not waterproof, and the gubbins inside are made of very cheap steel and chinesium. I wouldn’t recommend keeping this completely uncovered outside like I did with mine (although to be fair it didn’t seem to affect how well it worked, it still provided hot water but it was very rusty). What I would suggest is maybe keeping it in your garage or shed in the dry, and then every time you want to fill up your spa, just hang it off the back of a chair, hook it up and use it as and when. In terms of cost, a 14kg bottle of gas will probably last you around a year or so if you used it a handful of times a year, and they’re around £25 the last time I checked. With energy prices the way they’re going now, I’d say relying on electricity to heat it up could result in a cost of £10 a time from cold to warm, so this represents a WAY cheaper option (and you can take this little unit camping too, so it’s handy for more than one reason). Mine is now installed full time in my camper van and it really feels great knowing I have a boiling hot shower in the van no matter where we are, better than relying on the lottery of campsite shower blocks!
Year update: WOW, didn't realise I'd had so many views and comments, I thought this video had been forgotten about. Anyway, I did in fact leave the unit out in the garden since this review, to mainly fill my hot tub up. However it hasn't been used in a very long time so I may give it a quick scrub and see how it's held up against the elements in that time. Watch this space for a new video!
I will buy this Water Heater for my Pool. I hope he increases the temperature from 17 to 24 degrees. My Pool is a Intex Frame Pool Ø 3,66 Meter x 0,99 Meter.
I've bought 5 of those type of units, all different Chinese makes, and all have the same problem: too hot. I've put in-line pumps on their respective water inlet pipes, and still they're waaaay too hot. They're all rated for LPG (not natural gas) and I feed 'em LPG. I welcome any informed suggestions on how to get my HW-on-demand units to work well. Years ago, I resided in Asia and installed a half dozen similar units, and they all worked fine. Over here in the USA, they don't work for me. Do they have flow-restrict0rs built in? I'm miffed.
Great video. Thanks for that. I am considering getting one for the house domestic hot water as combis are too expensive and bulky. You need to instal outdoors due to CO but that's ok
Can’t see why not, just be safe and remember, these things are not the most well built units (as they warn you themselves) so take into consideration how long you can expect it to reasonably last safely.
Very useful information. As electricity prices are going sky high it is time to think of possible alternatives to heating shower water.Thank you and greetings from Finland!
Good video tells what you should do for basic use. Realistic commentary. Shit that's hot made me feel better bout it. Now I know where to go from here. The parts are rubbish as you say thanx
Hi. Can you please help me. I've just bought one of the heaters from your video. Can you tell me about the gas tank regulator. Is it 28mbar or 37mbar? And are you using butane gas or propane lpg gas? Please can you help me with this. Cheers
I wouldn’t advise it, I’d seriously recommend an approved domestic boiler installed by a qualified technician. This is only really suitable for part time use outdoors.
I would certainly recommend that yes. I’ve seen a few campsites who use them for shower blocks and they’d built little birdhouse enclosures for them, very cool.
I think out of all the crap that comes from china these hot water heaters are one of the few quality/price items that are made good . I got one for my build but think if i put one in the house i could save tons of cash instead of a hot water tank useing fuel when waters not needed ....
I need help!! Please! I have ordered and installed 2 of these water heaters and both have the same issue. The LCD screen will not light up! Batteries are new and been changed twice. Everything else is hooked up but when I turn on the faucet, nothing happens! Does anybody have an idea as to what is wrong? Desperate for hot water.
There's a little on and off switch underneath the unit, have you flipped it to the on position? Otherwise it won't produce a spark to ignite the burner.
I made the same mistake with the hoses , it looks like there is a washer inside threaded bit - there isn’t . Washers are inside pack , fit them and you are watertight .
Sadly the price for these is like the price for Bitcoin; it's up and down constantly. I bought mine in the dead of winter 2019/2020 as you can probably tell from the grey sky. Try buying one of these in the summer and you're going to get stung by international sellers hiking the price up.
Official answer: No Real world answer: If you had it flued out properly and installed by a proper gas technician then I don't see why not, but you'd be hard pressed to find a gas tech who'd be willing to put their reputation in the hand of a cheap Chinese water heater. It's really a case of making your own mind up, and that's only if you're the only person you're potentially endangering.
I'll be venting it with the 510.1 million square kilometres of earth we have. This will be installed on the rear doors of the camper so it will only be used as the doors are open.
As I’ve said in other comments, the price fluctuates season to season (stock levels, waiting for imports and the weather all affect demand). Buy one in the summer around May and they should be back in stock at a decent price.
You have to keep your eyes peeled and buy when they are at the right price. I bought mine on eBay and bought a second one on Amazon for £80. Sometimes the market is full, other times there’s none available.
Hi. Echoing what Kieran said below. Excellent review, but the main thing with these is that they are not supposed to be fitted INSIDE the van - or enclosed space. Given that there's a flue going out of the room/van, it's not CO poisoning that's the issue, it's more to do with Oxygen depletion from the habitation space - thereby tending towards killing people by lack of Oxygen. I know there's been loads and loads of this talk on the FB group, but IT IS a real issue. So much so that the manufacturer even states on the unit "No installation in the room". It is my belief that the real issue with this unit is the lack of outside air supply. So, if you could supply this unit with a separate air supply FROM OUTSIDE THE VAN, I think it would be safe - but this is just my opinion. How do you intend to install yours?
I think if people lack the common sense AND reading ability to ignore the giant 'NO INSTALLATION IN THE ROOM' slogan then, frankly, that's just natural selection at work. This is going to be mounted to the rear door so will only be useable when the doors are open. I've seen one or two people do the same set up and it works very well. I'll make a follow up video to demonstrate when I attach it to the van.
Up until early 1990s Motorhomes/Campers used to be fitted with internal instantaneous heaters similar to this (e.g. the Vaillant MAG 125) and were also fitted with adequate ventilation to in the van shell and/or skylights to ensure there was no oxygen depletion. Also bear in mind that these water heaters typically only operate for a very short period of time, sufficient to fill a small washing bowl or sink. So provided you have adequate ventilation you should be ok from a CO point (although I'd always use a Monoxide alarm too). My biggest concern with this in a small space is the quality of the metal used in the LPG pipes and valves. "Cheap" and "Gas appliance" are not words I expect to see in the same product. If those fail it could be disastrous when you next light it!
This looks ideal for what I’d be looking for at the caravan to get hot water everywhere other than the actual caravan shower would just need to think of where I could Keep it
You'd have to flue it properly to install it indoors. If your caravan was on a permanent pitch then I'd make a little 'phone booth' kind of shelter for it outside and run all the piping back into the van.
@@baldrickscunningplan6154 clicking when I pout water on and only goes up to 28 no hotter. Was great till this winter had it since beginning of 2019. Mine worked fine after being outdoors all year with no cover. It was a bit rusty on the screws but the inside looked fine. However, I fiddled a little too much with the knobs and that messed up the gas regulator so it would only produce luke warm water at best. Threw it out, bought another (which is installed in the van, nice and dry).
I'm currently using one of these to heat my lazy spa up instead of using the heater in the pump. Its phenomenal, heats the lazy spa up really quickly!

Wouldn't you recommend it to be used in home? In the place of electric water heater?
Hi, is it still working. Please
What is the gas regulator rated at is it butane or propane thx
Thanks for the review!!! definitely using this to heat up my pool 😎
Great idea. So much cheaper than relying on electricity.

Can this potentially be used for heating a small home hot tub?
how is the lpg consumption? How much a 10kg tank will last?

Really helpful mate cheers
Where do you get the batteries from ?
Does the water have to be pressured (ie pump or pressure fed) or can I just put the hose into a bucket? Hope that makes sense pal?
You will need some form of active pressure in order for this to work. Either mains water or a 12v water pump will work fine.
Thanks 🎉
What and where valve body is ?
I didn't know you could mount these out side where they can get wet
I'd recommend making a small canopy above the unit if you intended full time outdoor use
Best than electric, thank you

how is it now
Hello, the product description says it has a 20min timer. Have you found out how that works?
I had no idea it has a timer, I'll have to check this out
Yes it does have an inbuilt 20 minute shut off timer but you can get around it.

They've put a £500 postage on it now.
Does it use propane or calor gas? I'm confused as to what regulator and gas to use
Calor gas, standard calor gas regulator like you'd have with a BBQ or patio heater
patio gas bottle (green top) Regulator is 37 mbar.

Great vid! Do you know if this water heater meet the regulations for reclassifying a van as a campervan in the UK?
A camper doesn't have to have hot water or a shower to be a camper.
Possibly not due to carbon monoxide exhaust & NOX gas . Maker suggests installation outdoors
Great review mate. What gas and regulator do you need for it?
I think it comes with the gas regulator and for gas i think it's you'r normal bbq gas.
Standard calor gas regulator like you'd get with a BBQ
patio gas bottle and regulator rated at 37mbar.
