USC stopped admitting legacy students who grew up in local USC families and made the entrance requirements outrageously high. So many families with generations of USC fans have aged out and their kids go to other colleges now, so the enthusiasm has waned. USC is losing its local flavor and the students are from all over and go home for Thanksgiving. Pair that with having no shot at the playoffs and the Coliseum felt like a crypt.

Looking at how poor play has been there the last two years (Paige has improved over the season) but I have no faith in his ability to develop or identify (transfer portal) Oline. Just has I have no faith in Riley at this point. They will turn over so many starters on both sides and given past recruiting/transfer I have little faith in next season either. This feels worse than the end of the Hell-a-ton era.

Do you have some examples of top-rated teams and the games that you attended? I've seen the Texas prices, and I know whenever USC is the road team that ticket price jumps as well. So I'm just curious if you have some evidence and data to back it up because there are waiting lists for some places.--Win or lose.
@@LockedOnUSC yes, ticket prices for USC vs Mich were $60 for lower bowl sections in the big house. Heck right now tickets to the Big 10 championship game I can buy tickets for $65 in the lower sections.

I was with the Thundering Herd from the beginning and the school itself was a disgrace in its support. If it weren’t for Pete Carroll himself, the school did everything it could to discourage the real fans who wanted to get a home field advantage. When Pete left and Haden became AD, we had cops keeping us from cheering on the guys at the tunnel. It was ridiculous. That idiot Director of Communications or whatever he was did nothing to promote the fan experience. Only the band and Pete. The players sure seemed to appreciate us.

I had a chance to ask then Associate AD Steve Lopes what the plan was for the HERD standing section when I toured the "new" Coliseum and he basically ignored the question and tried to switch the conversation to the Audi Field standing area.
Game day solutions: 1 Turn the stadium into 70 k seating venue. The section of seats at the upper para stile end needs to be redesigned. Turn the project over to a team either in house or an out side vendor 2: Ceate multiple tailgating sections 3. Parking get creative 4. USC football is a ATM for the school, invest resources to make the game day a "wow" factor for the fans and the players. 5. Build it they will come.

I can, I was at the USC Stanford game several years back when USC upset the Cardinal and not only did the fans swarm the field, they carried head coach Ed Orgeron off the field. LA has an embarrassment of crime, homeless, and despair as well.

My take on Zacharia Branch is I think he took a really hard hit on a punt return in the LSU game. I think it effected his game. I played college football at 5'6". One thing I learned early, maybe in Pop Warner, was that you always have to hit as hard as you can to neutralize the the opponent's energy. When you hold back, even just a little, you get smashed. From that moment on, I got the feeling Zach didn't want to get hit hard again. He started calling for premature fair catches, letting the ball bounce and made him ineffective. He lost his confidence and aggressiveness.

We went 11-1 and beat Notre Dame 2 years ago on our last game for our first 11 win season in forever, and we had the Heisman fave. Any other school storms the field, but USC fans were ho-hum about it. I even asked people like this is huge, and people were saying, "this is how its supposed to be, we aren't those other schools." Some of it is our fan base because they have a luxury of spoils. We are used to winning championships in LA across all major sports.

Offensively (except the line) we can only envy your raw talent. Rockne is as quiet as the Coliseum if not more so. Part of it is your fan base. Rockne has sold out for sixty years. The bigger part is your coaches. It’s not (just) the strategies. It’s also the culture. Your team is simply not coherent unless you have a dominant season. Why are the best players from Cali going to Oregon? If you want to recruit against Oregon, hire Lanning. It's going to be a losing battle for players with Knight/Nike bankrolling Oregon. Division Street is run by former Nike execs hand picked by Knight. Every time an SC fan buys Nike apparel, resources are channeled indirectly to Oregon. The partnership and co-branding Oregon has with Nike puts USC and other teams at a decided disadvantage. This is never more true than in an environment with unrestricted free agency and no spending cap. Oregon is the "cool" team in the B1G thanks in large part to clever PR and marketing by the foremost corporate experts in sports marketing.
