what is your wheel offset my guy ? about to do this upgrade but need to run spacers on my si wheels
Offset on these are +35 17x8. But it also will depend on the design of the spoke too.
@@StayLurking thanks for the response man
@@nobs726 no problem. Good luck!
Cool I've been wanting to do this to my 8th gen for a long time now, I think it's time I start
It'll be worth it!
Gonna have to try this 1 day, thanks for the vid. 🤙
You're welcome.
like 100* great video ! nice upgrade too
Thank you! 🙌
Cool!
Thanks!
Will the hub centric ring for the wheels fit with ring they give with the kit for the rotor ?
Hey question, I have 17x9 +35 RPF1s. They come with hub centric rings. Will that metal ring around the hub for the 350Z rotor interfere with the rings for the wheels ?
Will any rotors fit as long as its the same size?
Brooo that front bumper with the lip is so nice!
Thank you! Appreciate it!
no upgrade on the brake lines?
I came here from your EP3 build video wish I could do all that to mine but I have one thing about my EP3 I love it but I want a fg2 but I can’t find any but I want to keep the EP3 at the same time
Thanks.
Both the ep3 and fg2 are great cars. Cant go wrong with either one. Just be patient and the right one will come.
What year acura calipers will work ?
Spacer ? For that brake
By any chance do you know or can you check the inner diameter of the evo wheels, some guys with 17's clear the spokes but rubs the inner part of the wheel
Unfortunately I don't. I would measure it for you but I no longer have the Evo 8 wheels
Hey I tried to find the rotors that you have in the vid and I used the link in your description but they don’t look the same. Are the ones you linked still gonna fit? Thank you
The link may have changed. But to be certain, youll want the 350z Track/Nismo Rotors not the base model. The 350z Track/Nismo are the models that came with the brembo package(larger rotors) if you're unsure, I suggest going into your local autozone/oreilly to measure and make sure the rotors are 12.76" in diameter.
I just got my kit assembled and my calipers won’t fit with the bracket holes in the outer most position
Try flipping the bracket around? If that doesnt work, I'm not sure.
Hey man how much of the acura calipers sticks out . Do you mine measuring from the face of the rotor to the top of calipers. I wanna know if my wheels will have enough clearance to do this. Thanks bro. Like 👍
When i get the chance, will do!.
What year 350z rotors should I be aiming for. Really like this idea more than the type s set up 🔥🔥🔥
Any year 03-08. Make sure its from the 350z Track Edition as that is the model that comes with the brembo caliper and larger rotors (measures to 12.76") and not the rotors for the base models. when i bought mine, i just made sure the rotors were for the brembo setup on the 350z, also measured it at the store before buying. And I agree, this is a more ideal setup if you dont want to drill out the knuckle.
@@StayLurking bless your soul 🙏🏽 thanks a million
You're welcome. Goodluck!
Can we run the OEM TSX rotors, or do we need to have the 350z rotors? and if so why?
OEM TSX rotors will not fit because it is significantly smaller (300mm compared to 350z brembos at 324mm) in diameter and thickness. You will run into brake pad overhang and fitment issues as the Acura RL caliper is much bigger.
I would stick with the 350z Brembo rotors. It measures to the correct size and is alot beefier.
Thanks for the video!! Did you need to install extended wheel studs to fit the BBKs?
You're welcome. No I didnt need to install extended wheel studs. The evo 8 wheels that I'm running are able to clear the BBK's.
@@StayLurking Thanks! Could I ask your wheel specs on the stocks? Looking for what sizes and offsets I should look into for a 9th gen Civic coupe.
Evo 8 specs 17x8 +38.
Also take into consideration the spoke design on the particular wheel that your looking for. Sometimes they dont clear.
@@StayLurking Got it, thanks for sharing this! Are there any spoke designs you'd lean towards for good fitment, and any you'd avoid?
Id stay away from deep dish wheels, unless you know forsure they will clear. Youll be looking for a 17" at least, a flat or concaved face. Most track style oriented wheels will clear. But again, I cant say forsure which wheels though, youll have to do some research on which particular wheel your looking for.
Did you have to do any modifications to the adapter for it to sit properly with that knuckle?
Not. It bolts right up.
How’s the paint on the calipers holding up?
Still holding up well. No issues at all.
With the RL calipers can you still fit the 18inch Stock Si wheels?
I don't think the 18inch stock SI wheels will clear the RL calipers. May need some spacers.
How about the rear brake setup? Is it directly swappable onto and 8th gen?
Rear 9th gen oem brakes onto the rear 8th gen?
Is it just me or are the pads and rotors not a perfect match? Looks as if the pad doesn’t actually seat properly with this setup?
Are you able to notice a difference between stock SI brake fade/stopping power Vs. These? I’m experiencing really bad brake fade with my OEM system
For everyday driving, stop and go traffic etc, you dont really notice a huge difference. But when you do need to slam on your brakes/heavy braking, these are much more predictable and stopping power is increased.
If you haven't done it already get you better high temp fluid like DOT4, better pads, and stainless steel brake lines for better performance and pedal feel
Did you have to rebuild the calipers at all or was everything in pretty good shape?
Although I do plan on rebuilding it in the future, I was fortunate enough to not have to rebuild mine, everything was in pretty good condition. I got mine off a low mileage 2012 RL too.
Hay bro, what about the brake lines? Did you have to change them too?
I kept my stock brake lines. You can switch them out if you want too though.
My buddy at orileys can get me both calipers and both rotors for 200 with his discount it that a good rate ?
Yes. Thts not bad.
Did you have enough room to add hubcentric rings for rims? I know you may not need them, but I use them for the enkei wheels I have on my 9th.
Yes, I did have enough room to add hubcentruc rings for the rims (which I'm currently running on the Atech ri.s as well.
@StayLurking ok cool! I appreciate it!
Hey buddy it great tutorials but dont you have to change the master cylinder too .? Or just the calipers upgrade alone and it will not make your brake pedal soft .?
Just doing the caliper upgrade is fine for me. At first the brake pedal was soft to the feel, but after a bleeding the brakes and driving it, its feels normal. Its been almost a year and I've had no issues. That being said, you can always upgrade the master cylinder, if you like too.
@@StayLurking just got mine done too it make a big difference in braking and appears
@@hoangnguyen-kh2km did u change Master cylinder or kept stock?
@@G3ToffaM3 i keep it stock like stay lurking said feel normal i think you only do for 8th gen . Been over 2 months of driving’s on it and brake fine.
Dope stuff , any other oem Acura/Honda upgrade parts can fit the 9th gen?
the acura tl type s brembo which you need to drill the knuckle to 19mm from 17mm.another one is dc5 type r brembo. i also chose this route due to the fact i can go back to stock anytime
@sovan781 is right. Those are the other few options you can go for.
Hey, do you think a 17x7.5 +40 will fit these calipers without a spacer? Thanks and cool setup!!
17x7.5 +40 may need a spacer to clear the caliper. Another important factor is the spoke design of the rim.
@@StayLurking I got the enkei M52 which arch out in front of the caliper I guess I'd have to check the fitment and get a spacer accordingly, also my car is a 2012 civic coupe 5AT lx so might do rear disc brake conversion...
Don't quote me on it, but I do believe you may need a spacer to clear the calipers. Mine are 17x8 +38 and they clear but room is tight. And i agree, best case is to test fitment before committing.
@@StayLurking i did run 18 x 8 + 38 and added 3mm spacer with help it move the spoke out enought so it wont make you feel ghost bump 😂
Two questions, did you use the stock 9th gen master cylinder, and also I have a 2013 model and I know it's probably a dumb question but, between the 2012 and 2013 and up, is everything the same for this kit, or I guess what I mean is, is it the same chassis with just a facelift?
Yes, I am still currently running the OEM 9th gen master cylinder. Some people recommend to upgrade it, but I have no isssues thus far.
Although there are some minor differrences, everything is the same for the 2013+. And you are correct, 2013 is just a facelifted model.
@@StayLurking So, no issues even with a spirited touge, or autocross? and how much did you pay for those evo wheels, I want to use those same wheels maybe but I guess that with that same diameter, width, and offset anything would work right?
I thought about getting steel brake lines as well but if your set up worked without it I won't. But other than the kit from the website is there anything else needed that isn't in the video for the swap? Thanks in advance.
I've taken it on spirited driving a few times around country and canyon roads and they do great. As for autocross, I can't say. I would assume that it'll probably be good idea to upgrade to the TL-S brake master cylinder and maybe some SS brake lines for the peace of mind.
I got the evo8's off a buddy of mine. He was generous enough to just let me have them. The same wheel(evo8) will work BUT the same width and offset doesnt necessarily mean the wheels will clear the BBK's. The wheel will always have to be 17" and you also have to take into consideration the spoke design as well. This plays a hugh role on brake clearance that many people tend to overlook.
Yea, I everything I covered is all the necessary parts that I used to get it installed on my car. Everything else you mentioned is optional (SS brake lines, TLS BMS, better pads, etc).
Bro those fast brake kit brackets are steel or aluminum?
I believe they are Aluminum, but don't quote me on that.
Would this work with 9th gen non si ?
I would think so. Not 100% though.
Bro what bumper and lip do you have ??
2012 USDM Sedan front bumper with mugen half lip
Some people saying that maxima rotors r better cause the brake pads wont rub n stuff…is the pads rubbing on the 350z rotors?
Ive heard that from a few people too but I havent experienced any rubbing on the 350z rotors.
@@StayLurking u think i can rock that set with my stock si wheels???…08 si by the way
@@gandhimunoz7628 im pretty sure you'll need some spacers in order to clear the calipers with the 08 si wheels.
@@StayLurking im trynna get some evo wheels like urs but its hard to get em
Yea. These evo wheels are hard to come by. If you can find a set, it is definitely a good looking set of OEM wheels that will clear the calipers.
what year rl calipers should i be lookin for ?
Any year 2005-2012 will work.
@@StayLurking thank you bro (:
No problem.
What size are your wheels & tires?
Wheels & tires in this video is
17x8 +38 235/45
This fit ep3 as well?
I believe they can, but not 100% positive.
@@StayLurking thank you
No hacking of the dust shield eh? Seems like a way better option than the TL type S brembos that require spacers behind the rotors too, this is so much more clean, and reversible.
Correct. No hacking of the dust shield or drilling out the knuckles. The most I did was just bend the dust shield ever so slightly to clear the calipers. This method is much easier, doesn't involve any cutting/drilling and like you mentioned, easily reversible.
@@StayLurking thanks for confirming, you don't even get that with the Stoptech kit, I'm sold. Now just to confirm with the manufacturer that this bracket will also work on my 2014 ILX.
hey man this seems like a way better option for me instead of the tl-s brakes. whats your wheel specs if you dont mind me asking
My wheels specs are 17x8 +35 235/45/17.
@george padilla cant say for certain. that depends on the spoke design of the rim.
How about 19s? Will +38 be enough for a 9th Gen Accord? Trying to pick up rims, instead of spacers. How much offset is enough?
I would say the lower the offset, the better chances of clearance. Take that with a grain of salt. Youll also have take in consideration the spoke design. That plays a huge role too. Its not all about the offset. Some rims can have same/more aggressive offset as proven ones that work with bbk and they dont clear due to the design of the spoke.
Hello StayLurking!
This is Nove from AISKITS, I watched your channel it’s really exciting and impressive.
This is a newly launched LED headlight! You can see this LED headlight, is not cool?it is our latest development of a product!
In the United States, there are many classic cars, they are our closest partners! Now they may need some upgrades to accompany us better.
Replacing and upgrading our headlights does more than making driving safer. They improve the look of your vehicle as well as its performance. LED bulbs have a lower power pull on your vehicle’s battery and system. They also give our vehicle a fresh and new feel with bright white light.
I was wondering if you could do a share for it on your RUclips:
• Introduction
• Overview of features
• Actual driving footage with the bulbs
• Amazon link on the description for viewers interested in buying the product."
Please let me know if this is OK with you. Really looking forward to working with you.
