- Today I finally get to visit another Island in Thailand. These are my first impressions of Thailand's Elephant Island, Koh Chang. Welcome to day 4 of the East Coast Thailand Motorbike tour on my Honda ADV 160 motorbike. Today I take a ferry from the mainland to Koh Chang. This place is so serene and peaceful. I am astounded by the clear blue water and tranquility that I encounter on my first day on the island. Join me as I show you some secluded places, a very cool Rasta bar with an amazing view, give you my first impressions and show you the amazing hotel I got on my first night on this island.

Went there as a backpacker about 25 years ago... hired a scooter to get around. In those days, very rare to see a westerner as all the westerners used to head to Ko Pha Ngan and Ko Samui... biggest surprise for me was how big it was... we stayed in simple beach huts... bathe in the sea, no electricity, etc... awesome. You're going to have a blast!

Koh Chang...Island in the Stream... the elephant island...lots of people crossing into the island from Trat...enormous amount of water and nature's best 👌 👍...the hotel room is nice & cosy at an attractive rates....the sea front is your swimming pool...really enjoy your moments 🎉😂

I was there last month, flew my drone along the very same small pier. Koh Chang is great island, try the quiet side it's certainly a different vibe.

By the way, I understand that Koh Kood that you might be going next has beautiful clear water also. You’ve also got to visit all the islands around Krabi/Phang Nga - down south on the Andaman coast. 😊😊

I like Trat province. Directly in the area on the way to Cambodia There are mountains on the left and the sea on the right. The forest still looks intact.

Best place to stay on koh chang ist Kai Bae beacht. You have nightlife and you are in the middle of the west coast.

Koh Chang, I have been a dozens of times but I have not explored the entire island. Locations you ve visited gives me more overviews of how to fish there next time I visit and giving me hints and details of the types of fishes to catch. The stringy long fish were needlefish 4:25. They re actually very boney but good eating. Even Japanese people dont know how to fillet them or cook them and are not sold often in big cities. You do need a very precise sharp knife if you want to eat them sashimi or sushi. They re also great live bait for fishing some bigger fish.

Although I am Thai, I have never been to Koh Chang. I did not expect it would be this big and beautiful! Mexican sunflower is definitely invasive species. My mom once had in front of her house in US. When she decided she didn't want them anymore, it was such a pain for her to get rid of them!. Koh Chang is now on my list of "must visit" now. Thanks Serg 🙏

If the food is undercooked, you can complain and ask the waiter to bring it back to the chef and cook it again, or find solutions

If you go to the island Run to the far left. It will be a homestay type accommodation. The price includes food and accommodation, not expensive. It's a fishing house.

Hey Serg never been there, KOh Chang seems tranquil. Been to Koh Samui several times and James Bond island ande Kho Phi Phi. First trip was in 2003 year before terrible tsunami.
I’ll let you in on a little secret, I really prefer Koh Samui.
Koh Samui is ideal not to too big not too small. Is beautiful and nice choice between resorts.@@LifewithSerg
Because of koh chang being within somewhat close proximity to pattaya, I think it gets more tourism and a little wilder crowd. I'm just guessing because I've never been there either.

Can you show how much clothing and how you carry your personal stuff when you do week long trips?
I covered what I carry in the last video of the Mae Hong Song trip. But, in essence, I bring a total of four T-shirts, four pair of underwear, three pairs of socks, one pair of shoes, one pair of shorts, one pair of swim trunks, and sweatshirt. Along with toothbrush and etc. Everything fits into my backpack, I will wash whatever I wear at the end of the day in the sink of the hotel room with shower gel, and then hang it out to dry overnight.

Very good job and interesting your docs about Koh Chang . A question. If a 78 old or young couple want to go to Koh Chang for a few days , just to have a swim in clean water and not having to walk very far to have deeper water . And a sandy beach so that we do not have to break our legs on stones or garbage. Walking distance with Thai streetfood around. Free of noise pollution . Mr expert, you have any idea ? Thanks
I would recommend the beach of my second video. I’m sorry I can’t remember the name of it right now. But take a look. You can also open Google and just take a look at the hotels that are close to the beach. All of them are very close to food.

The Island is beautiful and I want to rent a US army jeep. Coincidently, I saw a US army jeep pulling a massive trailer of hay on the road today in Khon Kaen.

U never really own the land on koh chang. U never can get the chanute. Be carefully. Amazing place to visit.
I definitely enjoyed it, but I prefer Ko Samui a lot more

growing up there.. been to koh chang multiple times. Definitely not the best...... compared similan, palawan, or even destin.... water is dirtier and skin gets itchy.
It’s not my favorite island, but I absolutely enjoyed checking it out
