Rachael Soglin (Emberley/Jasmine) is SUCH a chameleon. She’s in three StarKid shows and looks like a totally different person in all of them. And none of her characters look like she does when she’s just living her life. It’s wild.

The other one she’s in, Trail to Oregon, she plays a boss mom with really the most common sense in the whole cast.

Emberly’s little dance in “Paint how you see me” is actually all reenactments of famous paintings (the one you were commenting on was all the people from the Last Supper). There’s also The Creation of Adam, the Mona Lisa and American Gothic

Yes emberly did play Jasmin in twisted. she also is a main character in trail to Oregon (it's a very small cast but it has Lauren, Joey, Jamie, Corey (he played bill in tgwdlm) and Jeff blim (he was in tgwdlm and played Aladdin)) and in my opinion that's where her talent really shines with that incredible cast she's the one that stands out the most to me so if you want more of her, highly recommend.

The chorn reveal and the whole scene is so random and I feel like it perfectly captures the energy of starkid shows.
"Starkid shows are based on two questions: 'Do it makes sense?' followed by: 'Does it have to?'" is probably the most accurate review of starkid i have ever heard. thank you for this. also, congrats on being the only person who had an idea of how this show would end. it's so refreshing to see someone like the ending, because i love the ending but it always feels like everyone else hates it and i'm like???? why????????? it's great???????????? we love a good rocky horror ending
The non-sense humour is what I love the most about their shows, that's why I feel like the end fits perfectly :)

Eeee I love Firebringer, I'm so glad you liked it! Also the idea of a Zazzalil and Keeri spin of is excellent and I would absolutely watch every moment of it!
Fun fact, Denise Donovan, the actress who plays Keeri, also was the choreographer for the show! She's also quite heavily featured in Starship and Ani as well, and she also puppeted Iago in Twisted.
As for runs, they do typically have a set run! Firebringer's specifically was July 6 - August 7 of 2016! They ran it the same year as Tin Can Brothers did Spies are Forever, which actually had a concert performance after a performance of Firebringer one night.
But rambling aside, I'm so so happy you liked it (and kinda shocked you figured out the Chorn thing like well done I absolutely didn't figure it out til my like 3rd watch) and I can't wait for the next video!
I was half joking about Chorn, that's why I lost my mind when I saw that hahahaha But then again, this type of character is quite common.
I knew I had seen Denise before! Oh now I wish she had an actual character in Twisted, she's so freaking funny!

I can't believe you saw Chorn coming jajajaj Seriously this show is insane but it's probably my favorite Starkid show I love it so much!! Zazzalil is probably my fave character of all the shows, she's such a mood, when she doesn't try to burn the entire planet. I just wish she and Jemilla had more development, but I'm happy with what we've got. I would take that spin-off with Keeri any day tho. And anything with Emberly cause she's adorable (and btw yes she is indeed Jasmine).

To your question about how many times they perform live: they typically have a 2-3 week run. They usually record 2 shows during the later week and use those to edit for RUclips.
Source: I have been to every Starkid and Tin Can Bros show live since Twisted.
Also, I would love to see you react to Spies Are Forever from the Tin Cans Bros (a group consisting of Joey and two other Starkid folks you haven’t seen yet: Brian Rosenthal and Corey Lubowich). Spies also has Lauren Lopez and Joe Walker (Ducker) from this show.
So cool you got to see them live so many times! I'm reacting to all Starkid shows and also doing Tin Can Bros ;)

Seeing them live is an experience all it’s own. I’ve been to some shows that had some unique issues. Like when I saw Twisted live, Jeff broke the genie lamp, and most notably, I was at the Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals show when Lauren Lopez was super sick and Nick Lang (one of the main writers for Starkid) had to go on in her place as Emma. I have a short clip on my page of Nick rehearsing the choreo for “Cup of Roasted Coffee” like less than an hour before showtime.
Someone told me about Nick covering for Lauren and I lost it! Hahahaha Can't believe you were there! That must have been quite an experience 😂
Barbara 2.0 it was an experience, that’s for sure. I was there for a Kickstarter backer brunch with the cast before the show, so I got to witness the behind the scenes chaos of them trying to figure out what to do and the quick choreo run throughs. I did have permission from Nick to record a little of the rehearsal stuff and post it after the show went up on RUclips.
Apparently Lauren wasn’t the only one sick during the run of that show. Jeff was telling me during the brunch that at an earlier show during that scene where he is handcuffed to the chair and unconscious, he ran off stage to vomit and then zombie walked back on stage for the “You Tied Up My Heart” song.
A lot of the cast wanted them to film the show with Nick as Emma but sadly they didn’t have the equipment to do so that day. I really wish more people could’ve seen the pure chaos of that show.

15:22 that dance was her acting out each and every person in The Last Supper. The entire number is her going through poses of famous paintings; Mona Lisa, The Scream, Creation of Adam. It's one of my all time favorite jokes in all of Starkid that goes right over everyone else's head.
Also fun fact: Matt and Nick Lang (the writers of the show) were scared the Chorn twist was to predictable

This show is the so cute and gay and I love it! The songs are so good especially when they all come together 💜 Racheal Soglin (Jasmin/ Emberly) is an actual sorceress when it comes to different roles!
If you like Racheal killing different roles and starkid improving their butts off, you should watch Trail To Oregon where she plays Slippery When Wet (not kidding with the name lol).
And I love how representation is so natural.

My personal favorite Starkid show is Starship-if you like Denise Donovan in this (Keeri) then you will enjoy Starship, as she has a bigger role in that!
Fun fact. Asked my fiancé "what lives in my head rent free" to see how well he knew me. I'm also diagnosed ADD so it could LITERALLY be anything. He proceeded to do the Lauren dance and sing "I dont really wanna do the work today". Needless to say he knows me WAY more than I thought he did bc I had like 3 lined up bc I figured it would take a few guesses
This is the first Starkid musical I watched, actually. I heard a soundbyte from "Backfire" in a bunch of Tiktoks and looked it up and never regretted it. I think another good one for your list would be Once on this Island if you haven't already seen or heard it

They perform the shows more than once. I got to see "Holy Musical, Batman" live and if I remember correctly they had Friday, Saturday, & Sunday shows for two weeks in a row.

If you like Kerri she’s a main character in Starship when she plays February and it’s the little mermaid in space
Also the Lang’s thought that chorn being an alien was too obvious and predictable and almost took it out because of the predictability(when everyone was shook during Chorn)
One of my favourite is still Starship: Joey as the protagonist, a SUPERB Dylan and a f***ing perfect Lauren
The voice from the off is Clark, the tall Neanderthal guy, he did a lot of music for starkid with the band(?) TalkFine and is one of their music directors

If you want to see more of the actress who played Keeri (Denise Donovan) I would recommend watching Starkids first show out of college: Starship. She plays a character somewhat similar to Keeri. Although I should warn you that it is fairly long.
2 musicals you can add to your list: Rocky Horror and RENT, these are my 2 all time favourites

Starship is at first so weird, but when you look back it was soooo beautiful! and Trail To Oregon is just Jeff Blim, Joey Richter, Lauren, Jaime and Rachael(the one who was Jasmine) and they kill it! the last two songs of that show our one of my faves! for sure the second to last song when Lauren sings it (bc she is actually a classically trained singer)

This is kind of unrelated but I just saw your reaction to Hadestown and I think you could give a try to Ulysses Dies At Dawn from The Mechanisms (it is not technically a musical though, but it's a story based album so it could fit the format). It's a sci-fi /noire take on the Greek mythology I think you could enjoy.

“Ulysses Dies at Dawn” is fantastic. And if you end up liking that one, there’s also “Once Upon a Time in Space,” “High Noon Over Camelot,” and “The Bifrost Incident.”
Each has a fantastic story with amazing songs!
There’s also mini stories on their Tales to Be Told albums. Highly recommend checking out “Alice,” “Frankenstein,” and “Gunpowder Tim vs. the Moon Kaiser.” They’re about 10 minutes long each with a few songs strung together in a short story format. 😁

This is a fun video!! I really like the music in Firebringer, and I think part of it is that Meredith wrote the music (with another guy too)! Most Starkid musicals I’ve watched have music by Jeff Blim, and I like those too, but you can really hear the difference in this one and I love it!
Totally agree, Siena! The music in this is quite different from the other shows I've watched so far. I didn't know Meredith wrote the music, that probably explains why it sounds so unique. Also, I feel like this show definitely needed a female writer
I know if you coming a lot this is one of my favorite Starkid musicals there are tiny hands throughout the entire show that Jamila actually really already kind of love zazzle the best one is in jamilla's lament the line if they only knew I did it for you zazzle. And then Zazzle is just so kind of free-spirited and Mike does not care that yeah she's just going to go with it and probably did actually like Jamila but let things spiral out of control also together is my favorite song in the show and probably one of my favorite songs in Starkid
I agree Jemilla's secretly in love with Zazz the whole time. A few little lines give hints like you mention, but to me the main thing that proves it is that she's literally carrying around a wedding ring even though she's off living with the Neanderthal's and had no reason to think she would ever see Zazzalil again.
Trail to Oregon would be good

They actually do have a short run for their shows. And if I remember correctly, they film each performance and edit the show together using the best clips from all the recorded performances.
May I recommend Holy Musical B@man? It is such a fun show, I really think you'll like it!!

I'm so happy you like The Twist about chorme because I also love it and from what I can tell from the fandom it's a very must either people love that twist or they hate that twist and that twist will kind of like spoiled the rest of the show for them if they don't like it since I love it it becomes one of my favorite shows it's also like I said my first one it's nice to see a video that's actually really nice about that twist because a lot of the ones I've seen just we're not fans but they like the musical up until that point and then like they feel the twist through into the ending but I don't think so because that ending song is excellent. Also I love how does a zelle has so much top energy she had to counter propose

I know your list is probably a million musicals long already, but there are some gems that aren't talked about quite as much but are totally worth a listen!
- Come From Away (about the events of 9/11, but focuses on the people on all the flights who were forced to land in Newfoundland and were stranded for a week. It's actually really funny and heartwarming!)
- The Lightning Thief (adaptation of the first Percy Jackson book, super accurate to the source material and endorsed by the author of the series)
- Anastasia (it's different enough that it's worth a listen even if you've seen the movie; the plot is much more rooted in history)
- Dogfight (by the same people who wrote Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, and Greatest Showman!)
