Great review! finally you comment on the sound insulation, but i have driven this car and its not whisper quiet. Their is more road noise in this than in a golf estate and when you sit in the back seats there is more wind noise and road from the wheel arches.
You are absolutely correct, sound insulation is same as on the cheapest basic octavias. All proper online car reviewers noticed that. Carbuyer just get paid for these reviews, so they will tell you anything you want to hear. As someone said earlier fake news - fake reviews
I despise the majority of horny commenters on Ginny's videos, but I agree that she should perhaps try to make her videos a bit less boring. Actually, considering she only started, I think it's going pretty great. And as I said before, I'll take her slight monotony over Rebecca's cringeworthy attempts at humour any day.
"considering she only started" - you really don't know who she is, do you? She's been doing car reviews for almost 20 years, she worked for the BBC radio and television, worked on TV and radio as a host and interviewer, made several documentaries, worked on TV in Australia too, etc. She's not new to this, she's just professional, unlike a lot of reviewers who try too hard to be funny.
Rebecca left because of the pervs on youtube put her off. we are not here to look at girls, we are here to watch car reviews. Matt is amazing at his job and carbuyer should employ another version of him, there's no need for the balance of boy and girl
Ginny has been doing motoring journalism for over 20 years. She worked for Men and Motors along with Richard Hammond. She has a lot more experience than Rebecca. She is very professional and good at her job. Great review by the way. I do like Skodas.
They are built on the same platform and share some engines, especially in the smaller audis, but thats it. They are built in different factories, in different countries. The Audis are built with higher quality materials for example, there are differences.
Is the new presenter imported from Germany ? She does the job, pretty good, doesn't fuss about it, and goes to the next review ! Anyway : Skoda Octavia Scout - The official car of giving up on your dreams, but retaining a small hope ! The Octavia Scout is the logical solution to the flawed proposition the A6 Allroad brought to us back in 1999 : All the car you ever need, for the money everyone can have !
I love Ginny's reviews. I think they make more sense than most reviews online! My only wish is for her to gain extra 8-10lbs. She is so skinny I worry about her!
I'm not a fan of the Fabia but I do like most of the other Skodas, especially the pre-face lift Yeti and the Octavia, this Scout looks like a good addtion. I'm happy that while we don't get Skodas in the US, we will begetting the VW Golf Alltrack which is very close to this
I guess the biggest issue with octavia scout is that if you are already in need for a awd then you'll go for a real suv. And if you don't need the awd then the regular front-wheel-drive octavia will do. It's not that the awd itself is not well done, it's just the lack of ground clearance compared to suv's and lower gas mileage than fwd cars that kind of make this here just pointless. It would be nice if Carbuyer would also give some insight on what the awd is actually capable of. Not some wild mountain climbing, just a small diagonal slip test and approach/departure angle demo will do for most people.
SuV have a higher ground clearance (not even all of them) but they're also worse on corners, heavier and less fun to drive. Unless you live on a secluded area where there are no roads there's no reason to get an offroad capable SUV. This kind of vehicle can get you in optimal conditions through highway, country or forest roads if its dry, raining or heavy snow. I personally find this the more reasonable choice compared to an SUV for someone who travels on both good and bad roads on a daily basis.
if you don't go into off road conditions then you don't need the scout version either, regular octavia is also available in 4wd. that was my whole point - if you dont really go off road then a regular octavia will be better than this. if you go off road you will get stuck even with the scout. lifting the car 30 mm but keeping it fwd biased doesn't do much except increase fuel consumption. you will be better off with a regular octavia if you have no need for a suv.
kulminaator The Scout can do mild offroad which is the same most SUV can do (it even has more ground clearance than an Audi Q3 and about the same as a BMW X1 or Nissan Qashqai), this means forest roads, unpaved roads with some nasty irregularities, hills, deep snow roads and I doubt even the Toyota RAV4 which Carbuyer says it has better offroad capability will manage much more than those. Anything over that that and your average SUV won't cut it either , you'll need a proper offroader, something in the class of Landrover Defender or a Toyota Landcruiser. My point is I would prefer the scout over the "city SUV's", which offers about the same offroad capability and if you don't need to go on nasty roads but you want AWD to manage in all weather I agree with you that the Octavia 4x4 it's a better choice.
The Leon X-perience (despite it crap name) does equally as good a job as this Octavia Scout at the cost of 20 or so less litres of boot space. However, because it looks way more attractive and I think it's slightly cheaper, it's the better proposition of the two (three if you include the Golf Alltrack).
I just loathe the fact that i want to come to a carbuyer video, watch it and then look at the comments on the car but there are just reviews of ginny or "Bring rebecca back"
2:00 For you it is a very roomy car, leg wise speaking because you are not that tall. For me a spacious back seat is when a tall person adjust their front seat and after that they try to fit in the back seat with the front seat on the setting adopted for him or her. If the person fits, than that is a spacious car. 2:56 with a 7 foot tall person in the front seat, even you can not fit in the back seat.
Ok so if we use non retarded units, I'm 195 cm tall and can sit 'behind myself' quite easily and comfy. Also, you use 7 feet as an example? Go back to your cave Hagrid.
oh my god!chill out!Rebecca was good,no doubt....but does it justify the amount of bashing ginny gets on every review because her predecessor was good looking?the new reviewer will improve....just think how would you feel if everyone bashed you for just doing your job...i like rebecca too....but it's not right to gang up on ginny for it.
Ffs guys the comments read like a, perverts favorite magazine stop it. Now I like skoda's and I like this car, but I like cars that are a bit unusual and I dont follow the crowed. Good review by the way.
Sorry but this lady bores me senseless. I used to watch Matt's reviews as soon as they were live, not now with her. You can tell she is just quoting the manufacturer press release and not her own experiences. Total boredom city. Please get Matt back!!!
55 MPG in this brick? :D Yeah right. Please, stop quoting manufacturer numbers. We all know this is a hoax. A real life figures are a totally different story. Deviation between manufacturer numbers and car owner sometimes = 100% !!!
Why is the review with the wheel on the right? 99% of the planet has the wheel on the left! Yeah I know, it's England. I just don't like seeing the wheel on the wrong side. It looks weird and I can't see how good it looks.
This is just a VW Passat AllTrack in a different dress. In fact that's all Skoda and seat does. Three of everything! Boring. GM did that in the USA for awhile and it didn't work out.
Nope, the Passat AllTrack is supposed to be LARGER than this vehicle. In US this would be a Tiguan crossover SUV (US version has the lower output [150hp] 2.0L TDi or the 210hp version of the 2.0L TSi VW uses on a lot of product on both sides of the Atlantic). The vehicle this is trying to mimic is the Subaru Outback (one of the first raised suspension AWD wagon/estate-based crossover SUV's), but size wise is about in the middle of the smaller Forester and the larger (Legacy) Outback. Also it's competitive with the Mazda CX-5 (which we get in US with 2.0L and 2.5L gas/petrol engines), except that our host here thinks the Octavia Scout's AWD system is not as useful as the Mazda's (an Audi version taken from the MQB-platformed [transversely-mounted engine, rather than longitudinal-mounted as in an A4/A5 or Q5) A3 would use the Quattro system, which would probably be superior, but at a cost of several thousands of dollars, euros or pounds) .
Great review! finally you comment on the sound insulation, but i have driven this car and its not whisper quiet. Their is more road noise in this than in a golf estate and when you sit in the back seats there is more wind noise and road from the wheel arches.

You might have forgotten but it's a review about a Skoda. All the reviewers a Carbuyer are good at their jobs.
***** lol well to be honest a small minority of the horny commenters (HCs) are pretty cool, I've met some of them we had coffee it was good.
Rebecca left because of the pervs on youtube put her off. we are not here to look at girls, we are here to watch car reviews. Matt is amazing at his job and carbuyer should employ another version of him, there's no need for the balance of boy and girl
Forget even that, just keep matt
rebecca does reviews on other channel
***** daily telegrphy car
Yin Cheung Lau i knew, i just didnt want to point more perv to that channel :D
If that is the case, why did she just go to anothet youtube channel?
Ginny has been doing motoring journalism for over 20 years. She worked for Men and Motors along with Richard Hammond. She has a lot more experience than Rebecca. She is very professional and good at her job. Great review by the way. I do like Skodas.
They're Audi's in disguise
They are built on the same platform and share some engines, especially in the smaller audis, but thats it. They are built in different factories, in different countries. The Audis are built with higher quality materials for example, there are differences.
what are you blathering on about now fool?
Why is everybody talking about the reviewer? I'm used to see things about the car in the comments section.
Tommyboy80808 Nah i'll rather work in my country and go to school.

I totally agree, she would look better if she gained some weight. Anyway she is very good at her job, and I really like her calm voice.
Seems they only employ small people-none of them over about 5'5" including Mat who claims he's nearly 6'.
I'm not a fan of the Fabia but I do like most of the other Skodas, especially the pre-face lift Yeti and the Octavia, this Scout looks like a good addtion. I'm happy that while we don't get Skodas in the US, we will begetting the VW Golf Alltrack which is very close to this
It wasn't a easy task to replace Rebecca but you are doing a good job with it. Very informative and stright forward review. Keep it up!

Great review Ginny, keep up the good work
Skoda should be the car brand with more boots space in any category, even more in longer versions (like Combi, Scout, etc)
What's the dsg box like on these? Are they reliable
it looks so much like the first generation of audi allroad back in 2000. that's not necesarilly a bad thing though.
certainly lives up to it's name. well done skoda!
excellent review!
is mat on holidays or sth?
He might have more Auto Express work? I wish he'd start doing longer videos like for the M4 or 3 series GT.
on one of the latest videos on autoexpress he was in US
Looks like a BMW crossed with a Subaru Outback. Nice interior.
bring back this, bring back that........the only thing i wish back are manners. most commenters seem to be brought up in holes in the mud.
Whr is matt???
Can't wait for the new 2015 Superb!
Skodas are brilliant brilliant cars for value for money n interior quality they r v hard to beat
It is a great car!
could i put 225 65 r17 tyres on a skoda socute mk3?
and thank you for pronouncing Octavia properly unlike my compatriots here in Australia :/
I really wish we could get this in Canada i would buy it right away

For all the haters she's s fine English gal, from s working family, looks great.
this will be my next car after the Fabia RS IF i get bored with it. Love my fabia
Skoda Octavia RS with 21.000e price is the best buy on the market.
Never knew this existed until now!
What's that colour called?
Could it be Quartz grey metallic (F6F6)?
Still has manual handbrake
And thank God for that !
@@marianmakula1213 Yes ... unfortunately my Q5 has an electric handbrake ... sad. I would love to drift :)))
@@andraslibal And worst is if you have to go to menu, to change ur climate in car or tuch sensitive butrons... 💀
@@marianmakula1213 thank God this edition of Q5 I have still has absolutely everything on buttons. I hate touch screens and menus.
Is there any VW group car you DON'T like? After watching a lot of your reviews I'm starting to become more than a little skeptic...
I just loathe the fact that i want to come to a carbuyer video, watch it and then look at the comments on the car but there are just reviews of ginny or "Bring rebecca back"
Is Rebecca a woodpecker?
Ginny would bring TOP GEAR back to being a brilliant programme. She would storm 5th Gear! Well done.
Doe Ginny boost the appeal of the brilliant Carbuyer channel? We've found out and unfortunately not. Bring back Rebecca or leave it to Matt.
Where is Rebecca?
Great review! Personally think she is better than Rebecca.
Good review :)

At the first sight I thought it's the old Audi Allroad Quattro.
Oh God, Has Matt left as well !!!!!!!!!!!?
That car looks HUGE lol

I miss Rebecca. Ginny made me sleepy. Matt is good though.
Who is she? where is Rebecca?
Looks too much like the previous Octavia but if you don't care about looks, these are nice cars to drive. Basic boring stuff.
who needs 1m of space in the back...
4.53minutes in depth review, you are joking, it looks like a tik-tok clip rather then a proper review
