The Superb's looks aren't to everyone's tastes, but Skoda's innovative tailgate, which can open as a saloon boot for smaller items or a full-size hatchback for extra practicality, is genuinely useful. If that's not enough, there's a cavernous Estate model too.
The interior is spacious, and offers executive car comfort, which is a surprise given how competitive the Superb's prices are. There's a good choice of petrol and diesel engines, and the Superb is actually quite good to drive despite its size. Prices are competitive against rivals like the Ford Mondeo and VW Passat.
I've got the 2012 greenline estate. The 1.6 diesel is sufficient. It's bigger than a van. Well almost. It feels at home on the motorway and is very quiet. My drinks are cooled in the glove compartment. I laugh at the A6 drivers who pay twice as much for a car that is built in the same factory. And on top of that I almost always get 65mpg out of it. It puts a smile on my face and even Jeremy Clarkson couldn't change that.
got to agree with Mat, my 2004 Octavia runs just fine, no major problems, just had the brakes changed and the car has everything I need- space, comfort, great mpg, reliability... Skodas last at least 300.000 km no problem
I'm impressed, I would buy this car just because there is so much space in the back seats!

Just got mine yesterday. 1.8 TSI Petrol,160bhp full option elegance model for only £21,700 (special offer). I Love it to the max. The space is just ridiculously good. build quality is excellent and sturdy. Ride is great, very well insulated interior. Strength of engine? Really strong ! when driving it, the turbo just screams " Throttle It ! " no body roll, steady on the road, properly quick, spaceous and gorgeous (to me) . Best bargain ever! n Btw, ITS LOADED with cool n funky Tech

A friend of mine has the two litre diesel and went from Sydney to Brisbane on 5litre per 100 klms (mpg?) ..and swears by it load carrying capabilities. Loves it.
A wonderfull car! I drive it withDSG-automatic and 170 hp.

I might get this one today, the 2014 version, last year they made this before the last facelift.

Fell in love with this car in Prague this weekend, excellent boot, massive rear passenger leg room and super suspension ( and I think I know why! The bumpy roads down in prague + ppl driving fast = a good way to find the perfect suspension) :-)
The 1.6 tdi green line is one of the best for mpg and load space..
And these cars do not have those electric hand brakes (which I hate).....look at all the taxi firms ,nhs,etc that use this make...they are very reliable.....I neve see these cars on the hard shoulder broken down......
i was climbing around in one of these at a car show, and i was surprised that the damn thing had an Umbrella in each rear door. that's just... Amazing keeping in mind that it's cheaper than a mid range Passat or basic A4 or A6.
My dad has an 11 plate one of these as his company car and I drive it all the time, love it. Personally I think it looks great, especially the front bonnet.
That's because it is based on VW CC which is at least twice as expensive.
I'd certainly go for the Skoda.
When my mum told me we where going to buy this I thought NO WAY! I don't want to drive a skoda. I change my mind after 1 minute of being inside the car, I loved it! And I still do, the best family car in the wooorld! I highly recomed this car if you have a family and you like to go on long drives. It's suuper comfy and it has plenty of room! ;) One of my friends thought I was driving BMW or something super expansive just because of the large leg room for your feet. :)

Better than an Audi or a VW. This car is aptly named....Superb.
Underrated car. Love the front, especially the headlights.
i own one and it is superb
at the Australian International motoshow recently. Came away super imressived, you truly can't believe its spaciousness until you see it first hand. its even bigger inside then the local statesmen/caprice and Fairlane/LTD plus a lot more comfortable..
skoda = space
seat = sport
audi = luxury
vw = a little bit of everything for a great price
Also Skoda opened market in India few years ago, and in China after that. Now they focus on growing the range of models. We got new Skoda Rapid for Europe version, we probably get new Octavia Mk3, and they promised another 4 cars, maybe new Fabia and big SUV.
Also, parking shouldnt be a problem, since you can get the self-parking sistem as extra equipement, and car will park on its own.
The great thing about this is thats its based on a Passat, but is bigger and a little less costly. German engineering and competence for Czech money!

I wasn't paying any attention to Skoda, but this car is great! It has everything in a good price! Only missing thing is a TV!
And I prefer the Limo (Sedan) version...

Spot on, some of the high end Skoda's put Audi to shame and half the price tag!
When my dad was buying our new car, škoda was one of the options, but was quickly shot down simply because of the badge, and we went for mazda 6. Don't get me wrong I love our new Mazda 6, but this škoda looks like one hell of a car.
Yep, they'll have a big SUV built on the Touareg platform in 1-2 years, I'll be buying a car in that time so I'll keep an eye on it as a potential buy. Can't wait to see it.

Price-quality is good with Skoda. Especially on this Superb Combi. For under €30000 you have a great car.

In the UK though Skoda is not a premium manufacturer and since this is a UK review I think that's why he said it wasn't as desirable as a Volkswagen badge, which is a premium manufacturer.
hammy y VW is not a premium badge, only Bmw MB Audi Porsche AND so on Are premium badge... but VW, seat, Škoda Are not premium haha
you can do 5,2 l/100km easily (my experience), long term
in town prolly around 6 l/100km no problem

Way better than the common and boring passat!
Car doesn't feel that much umparket in its plastics overall and it is a bit narrow after closer inspection. In fact it is more or less like a slightly bigger octavia and with slightly worse fit and finish. But yes it still is better than the current passat but not better than any other car of its kind.

Its a great car, definitely better than Passat...especially in terms of interior quality. Its got better interior and much more room inside than Passat, its also prettier outside if you ask me, and engines / suspension / gearbox are the same as in Passat / Audi A4.
I'd like to see a review of Renault Laguna estate, as it's a great car and I'd like to get to know what Mat makes of it ;]
I bet that VW managers now think it's been overdone and its replacement is going to be worse.

Guys I need an advice please. I am in a big dilema. I love relaxing and quiet cars. My choice comes to 3 models. Citroen C5 Tourer,Skoda Superb or Volvo V70. All models are around 2010-2011,diesel engines. I am curious if someone had an experiance with this models and which engine/transmission are the best bet. We are family of 4,with 2 car seats at the back,50-50 town/motorway. Soft,quiet ride is my priority,followed by relibility of course. My heart goes to Citroen,but not sure about reliabilty of it,but love the idea of something different. Any advise much appreciated. Regards!
zakrstcasniisloboduz I have the Citroen c5 tourer 1.6 hdi,amazing on fuel and plenty of space,although I have owned a superb before and feel that the superb is probably better, the Citroen has been reliable so no worries there,but I would go for the Skoda

If I was looking for a wagon, I would go for a Skoda because it's a bargain in terms of price. The only vehicle that has more cargo is the E class and it's not worth spending that much money.

well.. this is a passat... just bigger... to me the passat is also better... but only just, and if it's space you're after this is the one to go for... i have spent alot of time with both cars and know them inside out

its funny because in polish, the way skoda is pronounced is translated to "too bad"
VW is getting a lot of money from US, thats why they dont want to compete with low price brand of VW group. Because this way they can keep the price higher.
@AdrianC12345 Are you serious? Firstly, it's not the same car at all, do some research. And secondly, the Audi A4 is smaller than the Passat while the Superb is bigger than the Audi A6.

@simyan1 he is cool indeed, but he is VERY biased since he works at the car dealer network which sells the cars he reviews... so I stopped watching his reviews for that reason. I much prefer this chap as well as Ross Rapaport from RoadflyTV.
