Great review! Still driving my 2016 Octavia Scout I bought after asking your advice Thomas! ;). Great car. Great value compared to others in this segment. Skoda are great at using the best tech from the VW group and adding their ‘simply clever’ bits while keeping costs down 👍. New model looks even better.
I think it's a shame they didn't give it just a bit more ground clearance - 163mm is barely any more than an average hatchback, and the octavia needs to compensate for longer overhangs too. 10mm lower than the previous generation scout too. I'm not sure I'd be much more confident taking this on a rough track than a regular car.
Your thorough reviews across many brands have helped me better understand my options as I make a vehicle choice for a US>France move. The snoring kid re-enactment in this one really sold the headrest feature ;-)
Great review Thomas . For me the Scout is the best 4x4 estate , I owned the last gen model and loved it . This newer version has a really nice interior
It's very nice feature to your reviews to do those flashbacks at competitors, appreciate that. As for crossovers, I think it's a very good niche, often all you need is those few additional centimetres of clearance, all wheel drive and some more rigid plastic parts...
I am the owner of 2018 VW Golf 7 Alltrack. Very good car with 4 wheel drive. But this is not real off roader ( for this I have old Suzuki Grand Vitara) . This all plastic adds give you some protection against stones on the gravel. 4 motion with haldex give You extra grip on wet or icy roads. But I found DSG having a little problems on deep wet heavy snow. For this condition manual gearbox is better. Average consumption after 3 years is 6.7/100km, all season tires. Unfortunately actual price of Golf 8 Alltrack in Poland is skyrocket.
Excellent review again. I've always been an off-road wagon fan - second Subaru Outback so far for me. I will say I do miss the stationary camera Thomas camera. Maybe just me, but I did get a little motion sick with the constant zooming in/out and shuffling back and forth.
"I still feel somewhat safe here at higher speeds..." Well that is assuring! Haha! Great review as always :) Love that you ticked off all variants of the Octavia now.
Very nice review, Thomas. Expected, but I always appreciate it. What a beautifully shot and informative video. Also, nice funny moments. *Perfecution* right there. 🙂 I like Estates as well as these Crossover Estates. I am curious on SUVs versus Crossover Estates. The ones I am thinking about is the GLE versus the E-Class All-terrain. I only drove the GLE, and that SUV was excellent. Very hard to beat. Not even its sedan sibling could *fully* beat it. One day, I hope I can experience myself how the E-Class All-terrain compares to the GLE. Hard to say which is my favourite Crossover Estate is. I like the vibe they all have. In my opinion, they are cool. 😂🙂
Hello guys, something's up with the left channel audio in your videos recently. In the present video, it is particularly bad, RS5 video was close too. If you listen to the 2.00 - 2.10 marks for the left channel, there is this high frequency sizzle type noise. See if you can spot it and address it for the next ones, I hope you can. Thank you for the great content and insights as always :-) Please, also, more night time driving!
Great car, great presentation. I like these wagons. I prefer the Superb, but this one has a great interior (I really like this fabric and "wood" dashboard and the seats look great) and seems to be very comfortable and quiet. But SUV are also great. A Kodiaq with this interior would be perfect :-)
New type of camera work. It is interesting. I would like it more if after some movement the camera stops. This, according to me, will add the dynamism you are looking for but it will make it easier on the eye because it will be easier to focus for me as a viewer. Great review!
Do you think that after all this suv-style madness, perhaps manufacturers are looking for meaningful solutions ? I love these head supporting back seats, i think we all have tried to sleep in long journeys, and this car seems to be designed with long journeys in mind !
My favorite cross-over wagon is VW Golf Alltrack, mainly because I have it and I only have experiences from it. :) Next car for me, about in year 2025, could very well be this Octavia Scout. Maybe a later year model, with software problems fixed. And if ai still can afford to use diesel in Finland in 2025. With the Golf with 129g CO2 I need to pay 600€ diesel tax per year. After about 18000 kms in year it comes more afforable to drive than gasoline version.
No mention of prices. Also, the position of the centre air vents seems to be too low as the air would be directed onto driver's and passenger's knees. Touch screen controls are not very safe or easy to use. Bring back knobs ! Otherwise a great car. I already have a 2015 Octavia Scout 184 bhp and I am delighted with it, and I would not be keen to change it yet !
For me is any crossover van because i don´t have any car now... sad but true :-( anyway i like this Skoda Octavia Scout... "my Rolls for today" haha i liked that Thomas. i liked the blue color, looks nice with black wheels, now i have to say that the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is pretty amazing in green color.
Skoda needs to start with more hybrid and FEV cars. They are stuck in time now. Does not matter how good quality or pretty the cars are when they have a Diesel engine... Great review again Thomas!
Looks really nice but one killer drawback -- no physical aircon buttons! So annoying and dangerous, that rules it out for me. Real shame VAG in particular seem to have gone down this disasterous route.
Wish the Skoda brand was available in South Africa. Unfortunately, VW South Africa do have a monopoly here and robbing us of more affordable, high quality vehicles 😢
What isnt simply clever is not having easy buttons to click, Idk why VAG group wants to cheap skate on the buttons, but just cuz of that I wouldnt buy a single car with the no button interior
Thomas, could you do the Focus Active X review? I am hearing good things, especially with regards to driving and even though it is not a 4x4, maybe a soft alternative to Scout?
5:34 I am going to say it looks like a clown's face, because _someone_ ruined the W222 S-Class steering wheel by saying the same thing, and a _certain someone_ ruined the new S-Class steering wheel for me by eluding to the gap slit under the airbag cover. 😂

Great review. Back Seat headrest is a great idea:)
thanks for following !
I’ve got a V90 Cross Country. A great car. Offroady wagons are my favourite genre of car, a great all-rounder.

Octavia Scout is the best choice regarding practicality and especially - price!
Thomas----hardest working man on RUclips!!
thanks my friend!
I hope the Superb Scout returns to the UK next time around with the tan interior from the enayq

appreciated !
Agreed, that was very good and very helpful for us.
Can’t wait for the C class all terrain. Just hope it has the adjustable air suspension you get on the e class.
That Team Fortress namedrop haha. Let's go Gamer-Thomas!

It all depends on cost! I want the best value for money that I can get. Quietness on the road is my next must have.!!!
Great vid as always boiz!

Did they actually not include the artificial motor sound with the Scout? Since it's the same engine as the RS TDI.
obviously not, good point!
As always a great and honest review.
highly appreciated !

Great review, and I like the car.
You have another subscriber 👍🏿

i got a V60 CC 2018 and my dad got the V60CC 2019 (new model) . Really lovely cars with great comfort :D

I wish we had this segment in NA.we do have the Outback but I would've love a Camry or Corolla wagon lifted like this.
That interior looks so good.

Appreciate Skodas’ simply clever, but how safe is that back seat head rest in side impacts?
I think the 2 spoke steering wheel is made to mimic the hood/grille line.
Never wanted a Skoda,now I consider it.
What about new Toyota Corolla?
@@dragospahontu to be honest I think I will choose the Toyota.
@@nordthernlights really? Why?!
VAG is so good nowadays, especially TDI.
10:21 - like a 🐮🎶!
Ps. Always a great review 👌🏿
Subaru Outback is the classic, but the Mercedes based on e-class is very interesting.
Many thanks for very nice video👍 Any chance to have comparison/review video of estates /SUV like outback, audi all road etc..?
Of course. Volvo estate comparison soon!
@@autogefuehl don't keep us waiting to long😊😉👍 many thanks in advance👍
Yay, thanks for the upgrade to 4K.
Nice review, but I would have loved to see a shot with the overall interior night ambiance in the tunnel

I have offer for 26,000€

Thermoflux seat is a standard in scout?
I thought maybe the cuts were a little too quick on this video, with some shaky/ fast moving camera that gave me motion sickness. But good info!
would Octavia Scout be recommended for a 4 and possibly 5 member family? What about the 3series and the V60?
HELL YEAH THOMAS!!!! LETS GO
yiha!
Always enjoy the reviews. However the moving camera angles are a bit sickly inducing.
Awesome car!
I have its predecessor and love it! ❤
Skoda needs to start with more hybrid and FEV cars. They are stuck in time now. Does not matter how good quality or pretty the cars are when they have a Diesel engine...

Not into the plastic trimming on all these crossovers. That's a nice blue color.

I fully agree. It is cheap skate behaviour and customers need to keep giving feedback about their cost cutting measures while still increasing prices.
true
Hi Thomas! Do you maybe know what is the name of that color this Octavia has? Tnx
Thomas, could you do the Focus Active X review? I am hearing good things, especially with regards to driving and even though it is not a 4x4, maybe a soft alternative to Scout?
Is it available in the US as well? P
@@autogefuehl can't really say, watching from SE Europe :D
Definitely better than suv
A4 Allroad for me but I wish we had the others as options in North America. Sadly the ridiculous obsession with SUVs here makes that unlikely.
Thomas, how would you compare octavia scout to a4 allroad. What is missing in octavia scout, if any?
Hm well it sits on a different platform. Main tech difference is that Audi offers bigger engines and possibility of rwd biased awd depending on engine
why is Jonas not wearing his leather pants today? lol xD
Hahaha
1:45 *here we can see das panel gap*
6:36 The engine light is on , i wish i would know why cuz is a brand new car!
Thats normal when ignition is on. Just the problem when the engine is running

Taycan is the dream car something more realistic would be the A4 🤣
How does this compare with Golf 8 Alltrack?
NO GAS STRUTS ON THE GOLF.
nice

Seat Leon experience???? where?
🐐
great
hi kitty!!
V60!
Slow down Thomas😅 I brain can’t handle
these should be called dirt-roaders
Volkswagen Passat Alltrack - the best!
Subaru Outback
Well nothing compares to the Subaru
