As an old amateur jazz drummer (85 yrs), with no professional instructions, I learned MORE from your videos than in 70 yrs of my amateur playing..Amazing, .congratulations and hearty thanks.. Keep swinging !! Mario...
As an 82 year old drummer who also had no formal lessons I feel exactly the same way. Thanks a million Rob.
Congrats!!! 🥁💪👏👏👏
Closing in to 70 and I feel I’m not the only one learning something new from Rob. Who said old dogs can’t learn new tricks.
66 year old here....ditto!
69 myself and still learning
I saved the money and finally received my own Paiste Masters Swish last week. After playing it for a week I can say that I love that cymbal. She responds to even the softest touch. If having feelings for a cymbal is wrong, then I don't want to be right!
A friend of mine bid on and won Bill Brufords Paiste Swish when Bruford was selling all his gear off. He never revealed how much he paid for it but I'm guessing MUCH dollar... totally worth it though 😁
@@davidgomersall7185 Yeah, I bet. Very nice.
Well said my friend 😂
Got mine the other day at Drum Center of Portsmouth. The most beautiful sounding cymbal I’ve ever played.
I got mine about 6 weeks ago. Absolutely love it. 1956 gms.
As a Brazilian drummer my self, I highly approve and appreciate this drum session!
I’m a bass player. I don’t play drums at all, though I do own a kit..... _old drummer borrowed and crashed my car, then left town. I kept his kit_
So much useful information. Found This channel when I was trying too tune the kit after stripping it, taking it back to natural wood, cleaning it and reskinning it. Sounds awesome now.
EH nois.
@@Ronnytrials ae mano eh nóis na fita 🤘🏾
Sorry to hear about your car getting crashed, but every cloud has a silver lining! 🎵🌦
@@shugyoforyou211 cheers
I got out and repaired it, cost my $900 in parts from a wrecker and a solid day pulling it down and putting back together. He owed me another $1,800 in advances on gigs and his share of the money I had forked out for rehearsals, posters, and reskinning the snare.
Just the cost of doing business with some musicians. You just get on with your life.
LOL you're just like me, when I grow it out the wisdom shows. Another great lesson Mr beat down. 30 years of being a self-taught drummer it's been fun reinventing my drumming using your instruction. I've never owned a practice pad until I started watching your videos and what a difference it's made.
I make your words my own!
Rob, you are awesome, you have a very special way of teaching, that sticks immediately,, thanks for everything
Whenever I see you teach I'm always super impressed with your ideas, enthusiasm and above all, your groove. That you take the time to share is way cool.
Steve Gadd is definitely in a league of his own, when it comes to drumming. I saw him perform live with James Taylor, in Edmonton, in 2016. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers, Rob! ✌️🥁
Yeah. I saw that show in Calgary. What a treat! The sound was about the best I’ve ever heard.
Gadd isn't spit to Tony Williams.

Rob, your practical application of well, just so many things is fantastic. Thank you so much for being here!
I've watched several of your Videos. Your Technique is awesome, you make the Music Groove, yet... you NEVER Overplay! As a bassist myself, I can really appreciate that. Keep up the Great work Rob!
Mind blown, currently working through mixed hi-hat patterns with ghosted snare notes using various paradiddle combinations and this drops. Rob, it’s like you’re watching over us! Awesome lesson!
Brilliant use of a simple rudiment, clearly explained as usual. Thanks again Mr Brown!
Love this! I’m going to get on this groove straight away! Thank you for sharing the free content as always, Rob. You are a legend! 🙏🏻
I love you tutorial man. You made it easy for me to learn this diddle through your video. Keep up the great work!
I love this groove/beat - thanks so much for sharing it!! I play inverted paradiddles fairly naturally, so I love the feel of this groove. Thanks again!!
you keep me not to stop practicing with home made drum.. I will buy one and show my skill to everyone 👌🤜🤛
Drums licks ( lessons) are so many. Your content i keep coming back to. Love what you bring to the tube.
That was so so great Rob. Loved that you played it open handed which makes the first note on the snare and not the hats. Fantastic performance man. I loved it. Great lesson.
I might be missing something but I thought by playing open handed the first note in the groove is on the hats. Like LrrlRllr (lefts on hats and rights on snare)

I agree
Love it! Thanks for sharing and Happy Drumming!!!
Loved that! Great lesson, and you make it really accessible as always - thank you!
I enjoyed this video. Thank you Mr Brown!
Smoooooooth playing Rob!. Love the instruction and the actual playing. I learned so much. This is now in bag of playing chops. Thank you!
Once again, you've inspired me by demonstrating how to apply a rudiment in a very cool way. Thanks Rob!
Rob you look and sound so comfortable applying that rudiment to Samba. Thank you for such a great lesson.
Hi Rob, I'm a drum enthusiast and I'm French. I live in Paris you know? You play this wonderful instrument so well like many others but you have a lot of humor I think when we see you in this video at 10:53 🙃😂👍🏾👍
I love your drumming. Very groovy and dynamic. ThanX!!!
That was great, Rob!
This is s pretty slick groove Rob. So simple, yet sounds really great. A most enjoyable little idea indeed.
My favourite rudiment. Great application - thankyou so much for this.
Very nice playing!! Placing the accent on the last left note also sounds great.. rllrlrrL
Thanks for showing this groove. Special thanks for doing it in the open-handed position.
Awesome tutorial 🥁🔥🥁👏💎👏
Dr. Gadd is a drum genius. Thanks for sharing as always. I dig all of ur lessons. Ur one cool brother drummer man.
That was wonderful!! Musical! Grooving!
This was really enjoyable dude. Sounding great on that track!
Big things with little ideas. Rob, your feel is incredible!

Simplicity expressed beautifully, man.

Excellent. Thanks for this! I'll definitely try this out.
Hi Rob !! Thanks a lot for your videos!!!!!
Love this, I use it a lot.
Cool lesson! I like that warm rhythms!
You are a Beast SIR! Thank you so much for all of your content!!!!!!
thank you for sharing this!
I love your videos man. I’m a total metal dude, but I’m definitely incorporating these grooves into my playing. Far more interesting to me than straight forward metal drumming. Blast beats are sick, but so is laying down a thick ass funky groove. My Gemini mind thinks it can do two things at once hahaha
Been a subscriber to your channel for a couple years Rob. I've picked up a lot of excellent tips and lessons along the way . I dig this groove , and I did get the Gadaments book for Christmas 🎄 from my girlfriend . Haven't gotten very far in it , but the pages I have had the time to practice have paid dividends in a short Month . Thanks for work you put into the drumming community and passion towards drumming which inspires many , including myself Rob 😎✌️
Awesome feel Rob ... Love it
Thanks! Much appreciated Rob! I needed a fresh latin idea. Can’t wait to throw in the mix on the next gig. 👊🏻😎
Great Lesson. Thank You, Brother!

Awesome, tasteful, nuanced!

YESSSSS!!!! Time to practice this. Thank you Rob! Your playing is SO tasty!
What a brilliant lesson, superb
That Samba has such a compelling coreasque gaddlike groove!
Smooth played Rob, thnx
Steve Gadd is definitely somebody to watch!!...and listen to!!....I think Rob Brown depicted that perfectly here!....Nice job Rob!!...I really enjoyed your music!!...."Carry On With the Great Groove.....and always groove responsible" -- Michael Haring
Now I like that GROOVE ROB!🎶
Had a right jam along to this dude.

Gee,Rob...You got me on the grove and made me wanting to run to my kit and start playing...I need to join your clases...!!!
Thank You Rob. Great Video. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you my Brother, I’m going to work on this! Thank You!
I'm another aging, self taught rock n pop drummer transitioning to more jazz. Your video inspired me to get back to fundamentals to apply practicing and gigging. Thanks so much. BTW would you post a layout of the cymbals you have in this video? They beautifully complement you smooth strong grooves. Thanks so much.
Excellent and thank you!
Amazing, as usual. Effortless!
Hello Mr. Rob from California!
Tasty. Love it.
Thank you!
Muito bom!!! Sou brasileiro e gostei desse groove de samba.
Awesome as usual Rob... I subscribed and love your videos, you’re a great teacher who keeps it fun but the tips and techniques are second to none!... I tried to hit select the notifications but it says unavailable 🤷🏻♂️.... anyway, great job as usual!😎
Sweet!
Dam ,,,That sounded , FLAVOR SWEET...
🔊Drum Spirit 🤩
This is Steve’s main groove imo. There’s a track called no more blues which has some interesting variations of this. Great vid rob!
