2 days later after you posted this video, I finally figured out how to play it. The trick is that the left hand (e's and a's) really drives the syncopation, as that's where the Kick drum beat starts and the snare accent lands. I wrote out the rhythm:
    1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a
    R R R R R R R R
    L L L A L L L L
    K K K K

Brother you are such a humble person and a Monster of a player!!! What is there not to like about you? I'm willing to bet nothing. Much love and respect Brother and I would love to meet you sometime. I'm not a chop monster. Just mostly a time keeper trying to deepen my pocket and trying my best to become a much better player than I am now. I was self taught. I grew up jamming along with Vinyl records of all genres of music. But mostly R&B Mowtown, southern rock like the Steve Miller band. Fly like an eagle was my favorite song to play along with. I have played in every state on the exception of Hawaii and Las Vegas. I've played with and toured with a lot of Artists out of Nashville, TN and Have played in Japan and North and South Korea on a USO Tour. Anyways man take care of yourself and many blessings and thanks for sharing these awesome video's!!!

Backbeat ! So playing traditional feels really good for this groove especially with the subtle ghost notes being able to really control. Played both match and traditional and man just feels great all around but traditional wins for me here.

The thing that draws me to Rob is pragmatism. Hes a current, contemporary working drummer who imparts tools to us that feature exercises that ARE actually used and required for everyday drumming. The foundation of these tools are workable, no nonsense concepts. He doesn't spend entire hours on a practice pad executing ridiculous sticking crud which will never really be used in a practical situation. He never announces absolutes, nor any unrealistic expectations.
I follow him now on Instagram and I've based a lot of my practice philosophy on him. Hes really good for me.

What up Rob! I'm a 1 month new drummer that's catching on quickly.. I think so. I can keep up with you on the practice pad with your double beat workouts until you get crazy 😀 When I start playing on the kit I'm so relaxed the sticks sometimes fly out of my hands. I play matched grip with my thumbs up knuckles down and it just feel right to me. I love the 5b's and don't plan on changing. Any tip on how to keep them in my hands?
